Is there some ROM whit MHL support for Galaxy S2 i9100? I just purchased a MHL adapter and i can not make it works. Thanks
Dude this topic belongs to Q&A.
All stock (original samsung) and stock based roms have MHL support. It doesn't work on AOSP/CM9/AOKP roms. (RR - phone screen can be displayed but it freezes immediately).
I bought a cheap one and I couldn't make it work. Once I got my money refund I purchased the original one and voila!
1) Plug hdmi cable to mhl adapler
2) Plug charger/usb cable to mhil adapter and next to the power outlet/computer
3) Connect adapter to micro usb port of your phone
4) Setup your digital TV.
5) Optional. Sometimes you may have to reboot your device.

What's the purpose of a stock-based rom? Is it customized in some ways? Or is it pretty much the original stock rom minus bloatware??

You answered your own question, also it will contain tweaks and modification optional as a separate flash file.

I just want to confirm which custom ROM has TV out option under Settings -- Display. I installed the (dreamW) ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711142 but in that ROM there is no TV out option. And I use TV out to watch movies in my big LCD and therefore I can't afford to lose this feature. Any help on this is welcome. Thanks a lot for your comments. XDA community rocks!

Stock and stock=based ROMs have HDMI working. Or you can flash stock FW and install mods by yourself
If you want something that doesn't look like stock/stock variation, give JJ's Hybrid a try. In every stock-based rom HDMI should work ok.
Hey everyone,
first let me thank you for this forum, especially thanks to all the developers. I've been using ROMs, apps and information from this site for ages!
I'm using a SGS2 with Chameleon 3.0.3 and its kernel. For work (I'm a teacher) I need the ability to plug the phone to a beamer with my MHL adapter. That's why I'm using Chameleon since it is built on stock. Everything is working fine so far.
However, I'd really like to go back to CM, I've used it for all my previous phones and really loved it. Is there any way I can use CM10.1 but keep a stock kernel? I've already tried using PhilZ kernel with CM, but the MHL adapter didn't work.
Has anyone managed to get the MHL port working on any CM version?
Would be great if anyone could help. Thanks in advance!

MHL is not working on CM,nor on any AOKP,AOSP based ROM.The sources of Samsung are closed,so nobody can port it to other ROMs.But here is a tip.Look at my signature.I'm using JellyBam ROM and Chameleon ROM at the same time with Dual Booting via Dori kernel.I use Chameleon only for MHL,and it's working. And BTW,kernel has nothing to do with the MHL.

Thanks for your answer! Sounds like a good idea. I've never used dualboot before, but I'll give it a try.
Do both ROMs share personal stuff? Or do you just turn off sync in one of them? I think I don't want to install two ROMs with all the apps and settings. Just a plain Chameleon would be enough for using it with MHL once in a while.

No,they don't share the apps nor the documents.I use Chameleon ROM only for games(I have instll NFS,GTA,Asphalt,Cut the Rope, etc),and MHL,because I sometimes want to put a video on TV,and share it with my friends. And I use JellyBam.This is my main ROM.Here I have the docs, and stuff like that. But I warn you! The second ROM is 2 GBs in size, without any apps installed.Just watch your space.

No,only fake info :/ ...that's why I don't use his ROM
I have CyanogenMod 10.2.0, and I'm very happy whit it, but one of its little issues is it doesn't support HDMI output whit the adapter.
So, using the dual boot option in googy max kernel, I want to flash a rom (and has to be android 4.1.2), essencially just for that. Some time ago I flash the Omega rom, but couldn't make the camera work, despite of the app I used.
Which custom rom is the simpliest (is that a word?? ), smooth, stable and -camera fully functional- ?? I'm sure there's a lot, and don't want to start an eternal debate, just a short list, please
Thanks in advance.
Edit: just realiced this goes in Galaxy SIII Q&A forum, sorry for that, how can I move it?

Ok, I haven't tried those, I'll give them a try
Thanks!
But I am tempted to believe it's a kernel issue. anyone know if that could be the problem?
