hi everyone,
my phone is a GT-I9300, android 4.0.4, Baseband I9300XXLFB (original, stock), Kernel vers. 3.0.15-782020-user[...], Build number IMM76D.I9300XXBLFB.
it seems that Samsung didn't only change the Search function through the update we got last week, but also disabled Tethering (I think).
the update was meant for the US version of S3 where the Tether option is sold separately by the operators but they also released it for the international version. I found Nexus users complainig abt the same issue after update.
does anyone know a fix for this? can someone reccomend a good custom ROM please
Thank you

"my S3 worked fine untill few days ago...I don't know what changed it, but my Wi-Fi doesn't work anymore. it gets connected to the router but I have no transfers (tried it on my router but also in many "public" Wi-FI). also, none of the Tethering options work (haven't tried them before 2 days ago, only after the Wi-Fi issue came up), none of the Wi-Fi, USB or Bluetooth (Tethering gets connected fine, but the connection has the exclamation mark and I have no internet on my PC). It might have happend after Samsung's update fix we got few days ago for searching or something, but I'm not sure."
Wi-Fi is working after I've done a reset on the router...but I don't understand how the hell my router affects other Wi-Fi connections. There seems to be a software glitch with the Wi-Fi somehow.

I tried the *#0011# command and switched off the "WIFI Power Save Mode" but that didn't fix it either.
I suppose it is a software problem as the phone (apparently) worked fine fot 3 weeks (I got it on the 7th July).
did/does anyone have this issue? please help me fix it and also, please reccomend a good custom ROM (or "the best" if there is such thing ).
Thank you very much for any help

According to your description, I'd say that your wifi chip's done
I'd call to local service/place you purhaced the phone and explain the problem.
Warranty should cover that kind of problems.

Hello everyone
okay, i've been with a really anoying problem since the 2.3.x updates on android (Samsung Galaxy Gio in my case). The problem is that everytime I try to connect to the network, I stay some seconds with good connection and suddently the router just rebots himself. Tryed already changing some router settings (by the way my router is an Zyxel P-660W-Tx v3), setting the phone to factory, deleting apps and I always get the same result. I tryed to contact the Zyxel company but with no sucess until now. I know there's gotta be another fix than just have to buy a new router so it would be great if someone could help me out. Because this thing is freaking me out already.
Cumpliments,
Deviantor.
Hi,
I'm having problems with my Galaxy S2. I'm using the device without any problems for more than 3-4 months, using my work and house wifis. The problem started one week ago, without any changes in the work router (there is no MAC restrictions or any other security configurations) I can connect but there is no internet after a while, internet works for seconds or minutes and then, it stops.
- I have checked the sleep policy and is set "Never".
- I have flashed (with full wipe) to different roms versions (KG6, KH1, KH3...) in all of them, it fails once you boot.
- I don't know if in one of the last flashes it changed some about wifi device driver (or rom) that it doesn't change with a new flash.
Now my version is:
PDA: I9100XXKH3
PHONE: I9100XXKH3
CSC: I9100XAKH3
I don't what to do because I'm starting to think that is a phisical problem...but, if yes, it is possible to produce it with flashing?
Thanks in advance!
I have exactly the same issue, and I only get it when I'm on my home wifi router which is really annoying.
I think it's an overall android error as it appears to be happening on a lot of different phones, but not initially when you buy them :/
Have you tried a laptop to connect to your work's WiFi and see if it can get onto the internet.
My work requires a proxy to be used to get out of the network (I had to use AS Proxy).
There are several devices connected and working fine in the Wifi network:
- Galaxy S
- 3 Galaxy S2 of partners
- HTC Wildfire
And also, my S2 have been working for months.
Hi,
I had no problem whatsoever with my network since 2 days ago when I flashed my dlink dir-300 with dd-wrt.
Since then, I started having problems using my banking app (it gets stuck sometimes during account data retrieval) and more consistently the XDA app fails to retrieve data most of the times.
The rest seems to be ok (on browsers I did not notice connection problems), even though the wifi signal (icon) appears to be quite low even when I am a few meters from the router, while all my other devices (laptop, iphone, blackberry) are working fine.
So, I would need some help to troubleshoot the problem, for example how to check where it gets stuck in the XDA app could help to understand where the problem happens.
I think I set the router with the same values it had before, and I had more trouble with previous FW, so I won't go back there, but I could still try to change some setting if there is some "known" wifi issue with Android devices.
I have a Nexus S with Cybergr v11 ROM and Matrix v19.5 kernel. I repeat, now all other devices are working fine, and this phone was working fine until I flashed the router, so it must be most likely a bad combination of wifi settings (I tried a lot of them already) and Android.
Hi,
I had no problems so far, but my Router broke and I got a new one. From this day one my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone is having this annoying wlan disconnects.
I have lots of wireless devices (laptop, tablet, 3ds, lots of htc phones etc, kindle) non of this has issues with my new router.
But somehow my S3 keeps losing the connection. This usually happens after I left the building and come back.
I look for many solution but couldnt find one working.
I tried the always on during stand by (it was anyway always on)
I tried to change the 2,4 brandwith but somehow this option is not availibly on my phone
I tried the *#0011# something number (I forgot) to change the wlan sleep time, but this option is not availible on my phone.
My router is using a dhtc ip distrupition also is using the b g n, which seems to work with any other device. I heard i should switch to only b g. But this lower the speed by 3, i dont want to do this. If this is the problem is there no fix for the samsung phone?
Thanks
ps after reconnecting the internet works without problem is the disconnect during standby which is annoying
Try a factory reset .

I did now a factory reset, it didnt work. I still have the same wlan problem. And now I have to press like 3x connect until it connects to the wlan network...
The problem is solved with the patch released in January.
This big updated fixed all problems.
Tab S3 worked well on 7.x. Lost wifi completely address 8.0 update. Tried all the recommended forget connection, reset network, full wipe after ota . When all that failed I flashed the full 8.0 with Odin. Still had no wifi. Repeated all those reset steps again with no joy.
Strange part is the same situation occurred with my LG V30. Worked well on 7.x, no more wifi after ota to 8.0. Repeated the resets and full flash series again but still won't connect.
My Razer Phone and One Plus 6 phones connected to the same wifi out of the box (with 8.0?), ota'd to 8.1 and have been solid since.
Am I stuck waiting for Tab 3 / V30 flashable (stock) files to 8.1?
You can download some network tools from the play store. See if they help you pinpoint what is going on. You don't happen to have MAC address filtering turned on the router? Though doubt your MAC address would change but I did read an article where Apple changed the MAC Address in their iPhones after it was discovered the government tracked people by MAC address. So it is possible it changed. See if you can hit a public WiFi (library, coffee shop, etc) and get it to connect there? Or a neighbor's network?

@aspexil
Just set the hotspot on one of the working devices and see if you can connect to it.
Is the wifi actually enabled?
I had the same problem happened to my Tab S3 a few days ago after I upgraded to Oreo (8.0) I could connect to WIFI but it says I have no internet connection. I have tried different routers and at different places and still the same problem. Strangely, I can connect to internet from time to time (intermittently) despite my Tab S3 giving an exclamation mark on the WIFI signal and warned me I have no internet access. I have tried resetting network, factory reset no less than 5 times, and also tried connecting at different places. I have read somewhere that by changing the time on the unit fixed the problem for quite some people, but didn't work for me. I did not root my tablet, so now I'm stuck looking for solutions.
update 2018.12.05: there was a new patch out (Oct. 2018), so I updated my S3 and now it still doesn't see internet even after connecting to WIFI. I tried resetting and now I can't even pass the Agree to Terms & Conditions part as it still says I have no internet. Before the patch update I could at least access internet even though tab S3 thinks I am not connected to internet. Guess I have to try to root it or throw away the tablet.

No have not rooted. All stock now. If all else fails, I guess I will have to try to root and flash ROM and see if my WIFI can come alive again.
