Hi
Anyone know why I'm unable to mount sdcard via recovery. This is just happening when I'm using SiyahKernel and HyperDroid's newest rom.
I'm getting this massage (E:Unable to write ums lunfile (No such file or directory)) when I try to mount every time btw.
Déjà vu. Try the "internal sdcard" options within CWM recovery.

I can't find such setting you are talking about
Okay, the only way I was able to replicate your error message was by removing my physical micro SD card from my phone and trying to mount USB or sdcard storage in CWM recovery. Since you're using Siyah kernel, and this message has been present in his changelogs for quite some time known issues: only external sd is mounted over usb in CWM recovery., I expect said issue is still present.

Ahh, I didn't know about that, but this happened in HyperDroid's rom too, but only the present version. Have never happened in the older versions and I don't use a physical micro SD card.
When I'm trying to do a Nandroid backup I get this error:
"Can't mount backup path."
and when I try to flash a custom ROM (Cyanogen 7.1), it says:
"E:Can't mount /sdcard/"
I searched a bit, only found people having problems with a certain boot loop. I don't have that problem. Just can't do anything from CWM recovery menu.
Anyone who has a suggestion? Thanks.
edit: i just noticed a similar topic about this under this one :x
edit2: seems it worked when I tried to backup on the 'internet SD card', gonna try to flash it that way too.
Hello,
I am getting the "Can't mount backup path." and I don't know what to do now. Also, FWI, the first time I tried to backup, it started, and few minutes later, it stopped because lack of memory, so I switched to a bigger SD card and this is where I am: Can't mount backup path.
If I go to the "mounts and storage" menu, I can mount everything but the /sdcard.
I don't know what to do. I'll keep googling, thanks.
Have you tried backup to internal sdcard? (4th option, if present)

Oh, that's it!
Thank you very much!
That's what sebas156 meant by "internet SD card" (LOL), the internal one.
Thanks again.
Also, I've read several problems on google with the "Can't mount sdcard" error, should I be worried?
Thank you SO MUCH!!!
I also had the problem with "can't mount backup path" and I thought that it was a CWM problem. Was thinking of making a new topic, but apparently I wasn't the only one who had this "problem". This topic made things clear.
Thanks!
Can't mount backup path - I want to backup to internal memory
I am using CWM Recovery 5.5.0.4 on a Galaxy Tab 2 GT-P3100.
The phone is not rooted. Do i need to root the phone before backing up?
I am getting an error - Can't mount backup path every-time I try to backup.
I do not have an external SD card. I want to backup to internal sd card.
I don't have the 'supposedly 4th option' to backup to internal memory.
Is it because this version of CWM does not have that feature?
I went into 'mounts and storage' and could mount everything except '/sdcard'
Kindly help me out here.
Regards
Indrajit
you are currently in the galaxy s2 section, if you have a galaxy tab, go to that respective section to find help.
also, how did you get cwm without root? and now you want to create a nandroid backup?
are you sure you know, what you are doing? no offense, but it is important that you do or you might seriously harm your device. also, you should not flash anything from this forum section, as it is meant for another device and will brick your tab.
CWM
I'm getting the same error.. I tried Internal SD card also, but it won't allow me to back up my stock ROM
"unable to open ums lunfile (no such file or directory)E:can't mount SDcard"
scared as hell.
Help!
Really ????

no one knows the answer! weird ha?!
Going to bump this because I have the same problem. At the moment my phone is a brick since I can't put over a rom to install because I can't mount the internal SD card.
Same here, i think its a known issue with ics cwm recovery on sgs2
Following the guide everything went good until i came to the point of installing the rom from the sdcard.
When I try to choose zip from sdcard, CWM says "E:can't mount /sdcard/"
Someone told me to format the card with SD Formatter, I've done it but it didn't solve anything. :crying:
I'm completely stuck now, anyone can help me, please?

Did you select choose zip from external sdcard? or just from sdcard?
I choose mine from external sdcard.

In CWM v6.1.0.4 downloaded with Alpha 2 it does not have external sdcard option.
I resolved with CWM v6.1.0.5 which comes with Alpha 3. :good:
Used Sideload option, since it doesn't see any external sdcard as well!

You should edit the title of first post and add [SOLVED] so that other people know you have solved your problem.
Ok, I have been searching for my exact issue for the greater part of today trying to solve my issue and I haven't come across anything so far.
I am on running gingerbread 2.3.4 with the UnOriginal 1.4.6 minimalist edition rom.
Basically, whenever I reboot my phone, it reverts back to its state on Sept. 27. For instance If I send a text, upload some music from my computer to the phone, and take a picture, all of that data will be missing when I reboot. All of the texts I sent, pictures I took, numbers I've added, etc. are gone. I can't put files on my phone anymore because as soon as I take it out of USB storage mode, the files are gone.
Things I have tried:
1. A factory reset / wipe data from the phone's settings menu and from CWM
2. formatting /system, /data, and /cache in the "mounts and storage" menu in CWM
3. formatting the phone from my computer
4. flashing a stock rom and PIT file from Odin
5. flashing a rom from CWM
No matter what I do, it always boots up the same as always with the same boot animation, the same text convos, same address book, pictures, etc.
I can't mount anything in CWM's "mount and storage" menu. It just gives an error: "unable to write to ums lunfile"
Does anybody have any ideas? I'm completely stumped at this point.

I would get into CWM mount storage and delete everything and upload a rom and try to flash it so it has nothing to fall back on

Thanks for the quick reply. should I format /emmc? I formatted system, data, and cache and when I rebooted, it still booted up to it's sept. 27th state. Should I format system, data, cache, and emmc and then try to get into download mode for odin? Could it be a faulty internal SD?

Mount storage to your pc and delete everything (make a backup if you want). And just put one rom in there and see if the problem persists after flash

I mounted the phone to my computer via the in phone prompt instead of CWM and deleted everything off of the internal sd card. As soon as I disconnected the phone from usb storage mode, I used the file browser on the phone and all of the files were still there. Wiping and formatting everything and flashing a new rom in CWM yielded no results as well.
This is really strange behavior to me. Any other suggestions?
You're Making this waaaaaaay to complicated. Just flash another rom. Unless you used rom manager to get into recovery. In which case you didn't read enough. But if not yeah just flash a rom.

Alright so when I go into "mounts and storage" in CWM, I can mount/unmount everything except /sdcard and USB storage.
When I try to mount /sdcard it just says: "Error mounting /sdcard"
When I try to mount USB storage, it says: "E:Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)"
What's up with that?

When it says mount USB storage it means external sd card. How do you have your sd card currently formatted? (fat32)?

Ok, well that explains why I can't mount USB storage as I don't have an external sd card, only the internal one.
I tried to reformat the internal sd card from my computer to fat32 (it was already fat32), but it didn't actually wipe anything. I'l try unchecking "quick format".
I tried wiping and flashing a few more roms, but still nothing changes.
Thanks for all the help so far guys, but I still can't figure out what's going on and why I can't seem to modify data on the sdcard long-term.
Galaxy y Duos bricked phone!
My Galaxy y duos is bricked! It stays on Galaxy Logo, I have already tried to flash stock rom and kernel with odin, but it says "Status 7 Can´t mount system Intallation aborted (invalid argument)" so i flashed the kernel and now says " Status 0 intallation aborted (invalid argument)!! I can´t wipe data/factory or cache too when i do that it says "failed to wipe on......."
It started when i tried to intall a custom rom, them i tried to flash with Odin, but i got the wrong files! after that it got White screen, i flashed with odin again (with t:crying::crying:he correct files) then it stays on galaxy Y LOGO!!

U posted in the wrong q & a.
This forum is for the sgh-i777.
this problem has been solved? or not yet? cause this my problem too. Cant wipe data. The rom and data are still there.
Why did you necro a 2 year old thread? It would be better to post a new thread stating your issues and information.
I do not remember this issue ever being solved. This may be the only person that has posted with an issue like this, as far as I can remember, until you posted.
What are your symptoms exactly; What firmware is on the phone; What can you do with the phone; What have you tried? Give as much information about your phone as you can think of.
For instance, have you tried flashing the full stock distribution with Odin?
How do you perform this step? mounting the device on your pc. I've tried to do this via terminal on the device itself but it can't get to mount the partitions i need to wipe.
