USB OTG - supported usb wired ethernet - TouchPad General

Hi Folks,
I have the OTG cable and USB Y cable working my touchpad with 7/30 CM9 nightly... I would like to purchase a USB wired ethernet adapter. Has anyone tried and know of one that would actually work on the touchpad with CM9?
Thanks a ton!!

Anything that Android 4.0 supports should work unless its limited by our kernel. I'd say there is a good chance this one would work as it mentions plug and play compatibility on Android 3.2+. But there could be kernel limitations so you may want to get another opinion.

[Q] Hooking up a USB keyboard to a Nook Tablet

It is my understanding that android natively supports usb. My question is, if I get a micro usb to usb adapter, and then plug in a usb keyboard, I would be able to use the keyboard to type documents. Any thoughts?
(I have a rooted nook, but I got the update before I could block them, will revert back soon)
currently no. The android or in this case nook skinned android kernel has to support usb host and usb keyboard inputs which it doesn't. But it probably will in the future when the devs release android 4.0, because ICS needs a different kernel then the current nook tablet kernel. But anyway what keyboard do you have, because you can only connect bluetooth keyboards and also only if the developers can enable bluetooth on the nook.
It also depends on the hardware support. I don't know if the TI chip has a host-only port, or if it supports OTG (On-The-Go) dual mode operation. It probably does, but I've not seen anybody verify that.
it doesn't support USB keyboards. I have a female USB to micro USB for my galaxy S2. I tried to get a USB sick and 2.4GHz mouse and keyboard on the nook but nothing worked, and yes it both works on my galaxy with the stock ROM

The NT can support usb gadgets and usb hubs but it need to be enabled in the rom and the must have the module, the NC has this feature and i hope our great devs can implement this on the NT.

im looking to use a usb 3g modem myself with my tablet ,
ive read a bit on the latest engadget article about the other older e paper nook that was done with a usb keyboard i even went as far as to contact the guy who did it and he told me what to look for , hardware wise to see if the NT could do it ,
yet without kernel support or the module being compiled into the kernel we have already on the tablet , theres not much hope , but i believe it can and will be done , if not im gonna have to get an ipad with a 3g data card in it cause i have to have data access wifi hotspots just not cutting it..

USB Host via Software Mod?

I've read the thread about enabling USB Host through a hardware mod of a powered USB hub, but I am hoping the Atrix is able to accomplish USB host mode via software hack? From what I understand, it is an ICS feature but requires kernel level support, so am I stuck without it before Motorola releases official ICS for Atrix? It hasn't worked with CM9 or 2.3.6 Blur ROMs.
Separately, I am looking for any webtop installs that have worked with this...stock webtop didn't enable digital audio out via USB.
FYI, I am looking forward to this to use my USB-powered Digital-to-Analog Converter and headphone amplifier (Fiio e7) with my Audio Technica ATH-M50 studio monitors. The audio signal out of the analog jack is not quite sufficient.
Any help my Atrix brethren?
Any help?

The atrix supports USB host even with the stock kernel. There are 2 things you should consider though.
1. The ARM devices need a charge on the USB line to go into host mode, so a software solution is highly improbable
2. You need a kernel or kernel modules for your USB audio stick to work properly in addition to some also, or any other mixer that supports picking the output.
Wow, so not even with an OTG cable? It doesn't even need to install drivers, was hoping this would be workable. Thanks for your insight.

The drivers are there, but you need the signal on the usb which you can get through an otg +powered usb hub. It works fine than. You can use the hd dock instead of this though, its way less messy that way.
Thank you for your explanation, looks like I will need to wait to see what motorola puts out with the ics update.

[Q] Usb dongle connection via OTG cable sony neo v running on ics

I have a sony xperia neo v running on ics. is there a way one can connect internet through a 3g usb dongle from ZTE i also have a OTG cable.
can this work?
I have the same problem buddy :-/
Me too.. This was my post:
Rooted and flashes my HTC Wildfire Buzz (A3333) to CM. Now I'm a persistent aircrack-ng user on linux platform and I know it's possible to get custom made drivers from a blog somewhere on working for some Broadcast chipsets. My phone has a Qualcomm MSM7225 / ARM1136EJ-S chipset and thus not compatible.
I've been thinking to get an external USB adapter to get monitor anyway. Now before buying it, I wanted to hear you guys out to ask if my phone will recognize it as a genuine adapter without installing any further drivers.. Also would the phone have enough battery output to supply both the phone and adapter. Last, I wanted to ask some of you that already own one to give me some tips on the "better" external usb adapters, which ones do I pick?
Thanks in advance

OTG USB Keyboard/Mouse/Pad support

Has anyone tried running keyboards, mouse or gamepads with JellyBean?
I don't have OTG Cable and I can't test any device, but if someone have tested it with the JB update can talk about it here and let the others Desire X's users know
I've tried mouse and usb flash drive. Both work just fine

mouse works fine!
I will buy a OTG cable soon. I would try to test any gamepad device, I have two 360 Controller (one wired, one wireless with respective receiver). I read from somewhere in xda that now it's possible to connect wireless receiver to Android... well, I swear that our DX can support it too! It will be great for emulators like ePSXe...
Does it support USB 2.5 inch harddisks as well? Did anyone test? I will buy an otg cable soon, too, so I would like to know if it works...
well, Joysticks and Controller does'nt work for me
but Flash Drive, Keyboard, Mouse Does
although USB OTG is Very CHEAP
Costed me 30 INR or $0.55
Did you download any app? And what ROM are you using?

I suppose that usb HDD without external AC input won't work, I think that Desire X's usb doesn't have enough power for that.

What joysticks and controller did you tested? I will try with an USB Xbox360 controller when I'm done with my exams.

Yes.
Upgrade to JB and you'll have OTG support.

Just got a usb harddrive to work using external power. It's ntfs formatted, so I used Paragon NTFS mount from Play Store. The drive itself doesn't have a power supply, but I connected a USB Y-power cable to it and plugged in the other side to my laptop. Will try a mobile USB charger as well as soon as I'll get one.

But the xbox controller in the video is a wired one, mine is like the one attached in the photo, wireless controller with Windows receiver (also, mine is a third party receiver). Also I tried with others USB PC adapters I have, like one N64+PSX to usb and another one that is 2 PSX/2 controllers to USB, and don't work on it. If I can, I will try on a Xperia Ray and look if it works on it...

2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. What does it stand for exactly? USB dock.

S10 lite specs say, it's equipped with "2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector". I'm confused. So which generation of USB is that? Does this "reversible" have anything to do with OTG(hosting) ability or is that just an indication that it can be plugged both sides?
I'm diggin into this topic because I'm looking for a docking station, for my S10 Lite, with some USB 3 ports and HDMI. I was wandering if some docks aimed for computers will do. Like this one for eg.:
http://https://greencell.global/en/startseite/1954-docking-station-adapter-hub-usb-c-hdmi-green-cell-7-ports-for-macbook-pro-dell-xps-lenovo-x1-carbon-and-others.html
Wouldnt bother
Hi i really wouldn't bother with a dock for this phone while you might be able to get basic OTG support for a USB stick as storage that's about it, this phone has no USB 3 support, No DEX, and no HDMI output capability. just realised this myself and i'm gutted thinking about returning it for the A90.
Ok. Is hdmi/dex support hardware dependant then? No chance for hdmi with some ported rom? My previous handset had no otg support with stock firmware and then I foud out OTG was there when flashed some lineage or stock rom ported from a newer phone.

OTG maybe, HDMI afraid not the Galaxy s10 lite has a USB 2.0 port not the 3.1 port required to output a HDMI signal. The A90 is cheaper has and exactly the same specs apart from is 6gb ram instead of 8gb and has a 3.1 USB port with full dex support plus it has 5g, not entirely sure why the s10 lite even exists and really wished i had researched more before ordering
There is a multiport adaptor listed on the Samsung store, @deanstead2k18, have you tried an HDMI adaptor and it doesn't work?

I dont have the phone anymore or I would order one and give it a try, as far as I know it's not possible I tried several different multi port adapters with hdmi and none of them worked I even got an on screen message saying it's not supported. Traded in for an s10 plus and all the multi port adapters work perfect
Hmm - I suspect that the thing on a Samsung website is a misprint then honestly. Thanks for the info.
