Kernal Version: 3.0.15-I1900DXLP7-CL233393 [email protected] #3

Is this the latest version?
I've searched the forum and there are so many ROMS out there. This one seems to drink battery for breakfast and in the last 20% gets quite hot then dies.
Thanks in advance

No. Actually, the first firmware in the first post in the link below is the latest firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806594
Um, it might have the brick bug, I personally haven't used it. If you're rooted you may wanna try AOSP (Pure Google) ROMs, or other Samsung based custom ROMs.

No problem but next time try posting in Q&A section, this isn't the right section for asking for the latest firmware or asking anything as a matter of fact.
Enjoy updating the phone
Thanks again, I postedthis in the S2 Q&A (I think)

I have Android version 2.3.6 on my phone. I am not quite sure how I came to do that. Given the following information what would be my best way to upgrade to ice cream sandwich or should I wait?
Android version - 2.3.6
Base Band Version - I9100XXKI3
Kernel Version - [email protected]
Build Number - GINGERBREAD.XWKK5
Also, if I wanted to get back to stock how would I go about it? Does anybody recognize what program, firmware or rom that I used to get to 2.3.6. My apologies if my questions appear stupid but I have suffered brain damage from a aneurysm and stroke that have left me a former shadow of myself.
If you need to ask, you shouldn't be trying. Wait for an official release via Kies/OTA. Current Samsung I9100 ICS releases are leaked and buggy, i.e. not official.
Plenty of posts on this... please find read through a few current threads... If you still have questions come back
thanks

Hey, I will not suggest you to use ICS(Ice Cream Sandwich) for "everyday use", it's not officially out for S2, so it's still BUGGY. Latest 2.3.6 rom - XWLA4, is amazing, fast and battery friendly... but if you want just to see what's going on with ICS, you can always try and after, without problems come back to your 2.3.6(if you do everythink right =)). So I will recommend you to go to
Galaxy S II Original Android Development > [ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH, KI, KJ, KK1/2/5, KL1/2/3, LA2,4 Download posted by Intratech
and read carefully... and GOOD LUCK =)
Here's a few pointers that might help you avoid a lot of problems people seem to have when they start out:
Always make sure that what ever you are flashing is compatible with your particular model of I9100.
Backup your EFS with hellcats kernel companion (or similar).
Perform a nandroid backup before you start flashing.
Don't use the repartition or PIT options in odin.
Take your time and read up.
If you fancy trying ICS go for a rom based on the latest build LPB, it's almost good enough to use on a daily basis, it's still a bit buggy though.

Stick with the build you have for now until ICS is released all we have are buggy test roms .KK5 is a decent enough build .
If you upgraded its either official via Kies or you used the stock rom route below .

thanks for the replies. I have probably read several hundred pages on 3 or different forums. I take the good advice and wait for official release of ICS.

Hey everyone,
so i've rooted my phone once before, and after some time i decided it was time to install chainfire's rom due to my battery drainage.
so i went on over to chainfire's thread and read... and read.... and read... downloaded all the jizz. and eventually i got down to the odin part. it was hanging at a specific step. anyways i read... again and realised that my firmware supported a very old recovery tool that didnt work so great. so i got back down to the site and read some more, and eventually got down to installing a new firmware (still confused with firmware vs kernel... but anyway)...
i went down to sammobile. and voila got a 4.0.3 firmware nice! but then... root was gone, and like my rooted apps that installed requested it needs to be rooted first. so i was like (EFFFFFF) anyway.
so i began searching again on how to root, and yes i know i need an insecure kernel... but where on earth do i find this thing.
i noticed that on sammobile they have kernels (or is it firmware, jeez all these names )... and i noticed that some of them have hash signs (##) next to them, does that mean it's insecure? i read somewhere that the star (*) sign means incomplete (it's an update rather)...
so please, someone, anyone, please help...
all i wanna do is install chainfire's rom

Just download and flash via odin the cf root kernel for LPQ which is compatible with LP7 (use the latest version 5.4 referred to as proper it is a bug fix version). This will give you root and cwm.

Hi there (topic should say GT-i9100G)
Been searching for days to find a way to root my GT-i9100G model. I found plenty for previous builds of my kernel but nothing for this current one.
So I'm at the end of my wits and for the first time in years I'm turning to creating a thread on a forum, getting ready for the flame.
kernel: 2.6.35.7 DELL165 dpi @ # 2
Android version: 2.3.6
Build number is: GINGERBREAD.XXLA1
Baseband version: I9100GXXKL4
I had a i900 from work but after it broke my work phone was replaced with this model and I'm sick of not being able to run ICS on it.
Anyways, wanna get CWM on it, but I'm very green at the whole custom ROM scene, only thing I ever rooted was my 10.1 tab with Odin to flash AOKP's builds :\
Anyways, if anyone has any tip, don't be shy.

You DID mean GT-i9100G, right?
Need to know more, anyways. Build number?
Use super one click
Yes of course, silly me, GT-i9100G is my phone.
Build number is: GINGERBREAD.XXLA1
Baseband version: I9100GXXKL4
I've read others talk about super one click, the reports were very mixed and I think this build will not work, or am I wrong?

I believe SuperOneClick requires an insecure kernel to be flashed to your phone first before using it, right? You just have to make sure the insecure kernel is for the I9100G, and not the I9100. And if you cannot find an exact match for your kernel version for an insecure kernel, you will need a copy of your secure kernel to flash back when you're done rooting.
I'm afraid I don't know where to get these things for an I9100G, however, so you're on your own to look for them. (unless someone who knows this information sees this post and is kind enough to post it to you)
EDIT to add: that said, I've heard of a few custom kernels for the I9100G that, when flashed, will root your phone for you. I don't remember what they are though, you'll have to search for them.
EDIT 2: Found one (superatmos) that has a version compatible with your build.
Hi there,
I know this kinda thread has been brought up before many times, but I don't know my way around its my first time.
I'm trying to root kernel my phone I9100G but can't find the right versions.. I tried Siyah version 4.0.1 but then my phone gets stuck in the booting screen and CWM unaccessible.
I am trying to find the right kernel for my phone but don't know where to look, already searching for hours.. if anyone could give me a link to the right kernel it would help me a lot.
My phone informations are
Model: GT-I9100G
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband: I9100GXXLPV
Kernel: 3.0.8
Build Nr: IMM76D.XXLPY
Thanks!

Hi all, i need to ask you for advice. I am confused. I have problem with stability of signal on my I-9100.
A year ago i started discovering new potencials of custom roms. From that time i ended using CM9. Before CM9 i tried several custom roms and start feeling problems with signal.
S2S was originaly buyed from T-MOBILE CZ at the end of year 2011.
Currently i am using:
android 4.0.4
Baseband I9100BOLP5
Core [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Dec 9 02:24:17 PST 2012
CM version 9-20121209-NIGHTLY-galaxys2

app GetRIL report:
RIL: I9100XXLQ6; I9100XWL

I think i want originaly ?modem? and ?ril? from t-mobile for the best performance, but i dont know what to do. I was trying to browse on XDA and i found topic with originaly things, but i get so confused that i look for help from more skill user.
Thank you all

Hi CM9 is a really old ROM.Try CM 10 or 10.1.But if you don't want to,then search for XXMS2 modem. There are many guides how to flash a modem here on XDA.

Thank you guys! I wrote PM to sadekmefti with more Q about his answer and soon as i will know exactly what i should do, i amke reply to this thread. In final i want to make brand new CM 10.1 flsh with JB. I wait impatiently to stabel version, because i use phone every day and i need him for work. I cant risk, that nightly will be corrupt with saome undetect problem. Correct me if i am wrong, but theres no newer stable version of CM then CM9, is it? I cant find it on CM download center. All i see is CM 10.1 nightly for i9100.
EDIT:
I look a while ago for brand stock version of roms nd i found this czech android forum with link to XDA.

I know, but stock roms with all the crap from operators and manufacturer is unuseable. Now, i work with the old CM9 prety well except signal loses and poor tvoice quality :/
What about rooted stock (so you can get rid of all the bloat) ? That way you have the best of both worlds (remove all the crap and it 'just works').

That is one way and my original point in which i decided yeras ago to do first flash. Then i wanted to test CM and its futures. So yes. Steps after steps if secure baase function even with stock JB rom. If is posible to use for example CM10.1, that will be great, but not conditions. I must admit that i am very nicely lost know. I dont know what exactly should i do next to get proper function of signal - phone signal, net, gps etc... GPS problems was oone of the reasons why i wanted to try new roms with all the hooks ways for better gps signal.
Thank you guys... yesterday i flashed xxms2 modem with RIL and works fine. Couple of my contacts who complain on quality of my voice in the past confirmed, that xxms2 sounds much better. Thanks again!
