Fixed, had to bump up the headphones button priority. It seems to be impossible to play music on Jellybean. I can't change the tracks with my headphones button anymore because a long press brings up Google Now and 2-3 taps brings up voice dial (which I'm sure I've uninstalled). Is there a way to disable one of these without freezing them so they can still be used? Thank you!

Is there a way to use the camera button (or any other 3) on X10's to skip songs??? We had it on the Acer Liquid E, and I miss it alot on my SE X10
Are you running a stock SE ROM???
As if you install a 2.2 ROM you'll have the option to Pause and Skip on your lock sceen... There maybe an app in the market to let you assign buttons for Skipping tracks but I'm unaware of any.
I use MixZing Basic from the market, I'm not sure if installing this on 2.1 would enable the lock screen buttons but have a go.
He can use widget locker and ghost controls for the lockscreen

I was waiting for something like this. All my life ive been using Walkman phones and i can do this while long pressing the volume + - it toggles the tracks back and fourth... but now i cant do this... and dev would kind enough to do this? Im riding and listening to songs at the same time i cant afford to take out my phone while riding
Try trips miui music player that included in his rom ... you can skip songs by shaking the phone

You can use the volume button to go to the previous and next song by holding the volume controls down with PowerAMP. It's a paid app but there could be a free music player on the market with this feature.

Thx for your responses, I will try with POwerAmp..... for now, until someone figure out how they did it on Liquid E's !!
Otherwise, if you flash any of the ROMs with CM6/7, there is an option to use the volume buttons for previous/next!
ok, I did'nt know CM had that...... but I'm on EWJET, and I dont plan to change rom soon....... but thx
Wolfbreaks rom has this feature built in, just use volume keys when screen off to go forward/back.

Since updating to ICS, a feature I really miss from GB is the turn over to mute funtion for SMS. Sure it works for a phone call ringtone, but that's all. Even trying to turn volume down dooesn't work (by the time i've pressed the volume rocker enough times to change to silent, the tone has finished!)
Anyone got any other ideas on how to mute an SMS notification quickly?
Get a short SMS notification sound
Sorry couldn't help it. But as soon as I press my volume button the sound mutes. Only have to press it once.

Just wondering if there's a way to change songs using the headphones you get with the s3? Or if there's an app that let's you do it?
Thanks!

if you got original headphone, then you'll find that there's 3 button..
volume up, volume down, then the "other button"..
if you press the "other button" once, the music will paused or started..
Just make sure u pressed it twice to change the song..
Check out Jays Headset Control in the Play Store.
Its meant for single button configurations, but it works perfect to with my 2 (or 3) button configuration S3 supplied earphones
(edit) note that stock works too. but the app gives more options like prev track
Ahhhh thanks guys!
Exorcist I kind of feel stupid Haha so simple!! Was bugging me big time

I wasnt aware of that app, thanks
I couldn't get any of the marketplace apps to override the headset +/- buttons from acting as volume buttons, but have now worked out how to simply remap them to act as track controls, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28752382#post28752382

See my post two above yours for a fairly easy DIY fix, should work in any ROM I'd have thought.

Thanks for answer me but, is not working, I did everything you say in that post, but I can`t make them work I see the whole Generic.kl from my original stock rom that doesn`t have problems changing to the next track o pause etc., and it is the same Generic.kl, I don`t know what is happening, is a really weird issue.
Just read a review that the S3 has a delay when you press the power button because it is looking for a second press? Is this true? Any way to fix?
not power but home -_-"
disable s voice can help
So if you don't disable s voice, you have no home button?

The home button works as such regardless of whether or not S Voice is enabled, but there's a noticeable lag in the response time when S Voice is enabled because it's waiting for a possible second press to activate the S Voice interface.
The lag still exists on CM9, so it's got nothing to do with S Voice.
I believe it is the processor "waking up" and climbing to a higher clock speed that causes it. I'm sure someone more technical than me could explain it better.
How to completely disable sound output of cell phone with press of a button, and re enable it just as easily when needed?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
You can either use the sound toggle or you can press volume down.
There is no hardware button in SGS3 like in iphone

you have a widget "turn off all sounds." that should help.
Unfortunately the samsung widget isn't an option. And turning down just volume of sounds the "normal" way doesn't cut it: some apps (system apps i think) can override sound settings and play at any most unfomfortable times.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
As I answered you in your identical other thread try Tasker sound options.
Could you be more specific and let us know what apps?
just as an example that might be not useful at all for you but might guide you in the correct direction: I use tasker to switch my phone & tablet during work in vibration mode and no app is able to break it, even system apps like the dialer or battery low signal sounds.
Sent from my Nexus 7 (2013)
I believe the apps that can brake the silence are for example the caller app and other little sounds that are automated when doing some things in rom, for example the sound when focusing camera i believe or maybe the screenshot sound. I know these can be disabled manually, and i have, but i never want to incur into unpleasant surprises, and that widget does all i need. Furthermore i did try your tasker solution yesterda applying ALL sound settings allowed within the tasker settings i could, but none of them did what i wanted. The samsung system widget "turn off all sounds" completely disables sound output and when trying to press volume buttons the volume isn't allowed to shift. this is important because even if i applied a simple way to shut off all sounds (for example most mute apps on play store or tasker actions on sound) some apps can still modify sound themselves....and this does lead to - unpleasant surprises!
This is what samsung's widget avoids perfectly, this is what i'm looking for.
Hope to have straightened things up in this thread, even though i doubt anyone has the answer i'm looking for.

thanks, much clearer now to understand. somehow I fear that there are not a lot of options to achieve this though.
I just tried on my phone the screenshot function though, in vibrate more there is no sound to hear, also camera shutter sounds is off. maybe it is related more to the rom itself?
I dunno....there are other sounds i can't really remember, but what im interested is still a complete all sound output disable solution (not individual-problem one). Anyways thank you for your help
