Hey all, I'm lookin for a ROM for my Samsung Exhibit II (TMOUS) that strips the bloatware but keeps the functions basically intact. Anyone done that yet?
Even when closed all apps my phone has only 100mb free memory, and when I run FMR memory utility it gets free mem up to 200mb. My phone seems to get slower all the time as well. NO IDEA WHY. I downloaded a virus program which didnt find anything.
So I figured a cleaner rom would be a great start.

This thread has links to all ROMs. You can use the rooted stock and remove apps, but jocala's Peach Sunrise is what you probably want. It is based on stock, but debloated with a few tweaks. Really nice.

Hello Guys!
I am a little sick of all these custom roms that claim to be stable but have memory leaks and what not. rebooting my phone every day because my ram is getting low and I cant run navigation + spotify is a little bit too G1 for my taste. I didn't get THE top of the notch phone to have to decide wether to listen to music or get where i want in my car because the ram is too low.
So I wanna go back to kinda-stock but still keep root because it's needed for LBE privacy guard, my most beloved app to keep those private information suckkers away from my stuff.
I wanted to unroot, go back to stock and then root again, but for some reason Odin doesn't recognize my phone. Yes, drivers are installed but it just doesn't find it. might be a problem with win8+64bit or whatever, point is Odin ain't on the table anymore.
Now i figured, just get a custom rom that is based on the stock-rom but keeps my root. However all the devs are so trying to get JB to the ppl that there are barely any good solid roms left with "just" ICS. No offense, i love all the work the devs put in there to get JB running without the neccessary codework form samsung but it's nothing for me anymore. I wanna have a phone to do my everyday bidding with and if i feel like messing around with custom stuff I'll get my dev phone out of the drawer again.
So point of the story is, has anyone a rom in mind, that is based on stock + root and close to no changes after that? Would be greatly appreciated!
Use mobile odin to flash original firmware. It will keep your phone rooted.

I know i am biased because it is my ROM, however i believe for my ROM to be stable and so far all of my users are happy with it
Maybe give it a try and see what you think , also the memory leak exists in all STOCK BASED Sammy ROMS
However i have built a fix into my ROM that i believe doesnt completely get rid of it however i think it works quite well .

once you've used mobile you'll never used desktop odin again. chainfire is legend
remember to download both files though for mobile odin the apk plus the apk specific for our phone.

How does this happen anyways, i mean why would there be a leak even with the stock based roms? is there a leak even with the stock one? because i never notices these behaviors before i switched to jelly bean. You're a dev so you probably know more than i am. all i do is mobile business app dev with js&html5, so i am not that deep into android and what makes it work the way it does.

This memory leak is mainly caused by the kies Applications that is running in the background on the phone. I have got a part of my flashing process that moves this process to another location therefore preventing it from starting and this has resolved the problems or mostly resolved the problems.
If i was you i would give my rom a try and see what you think
**** i just lost all my files on my internalSDcard -.- including all my easyMoney backups with all my transactionhistory. that really pisses me off...well at least odin mobile is good

Not true at all, the memory leak is only present in aosp based ROMs, NOT stock Sammy ROMs.
That kiesexe or whatever in system/bin/ is not causing memory leaks, it is just using some ram, not using it all up such as a memory leak is described.
@OP stock sammy ROMs are just fine, even the latest JB leak is great, XXDLI5, I've been using it as a daily driver since it came out and I have no problems.
Use mobile Odin to flash whatever firmware you want, it will even keep your root.

Description.
Sammy base, stable, Jelly bean, no lagg to date.
I have got ca. 350 apps from Google Play, and yet another ca. 200 system, they all work as if they were stock, no lagg, no great loading times, works brilliant (Except for Facebook, but that's a known problem...)
Give it a shot, you'll like it, if you want stock!
Bought a xperia sola which had android 2.3 and i thought it was very fast and awesome for like 5 months. Then thought that upgrading to ICS would be great, but I found it just to slow down my phone. I tried to factory reset it in 2 different ways but still was slow. Got a scratch in the screen and while repairing i asked them to rever it back to 2.3 again. Thought it was decent for awhile but then became slow continuing with 2.3. I thought it would be because I installed some apps etc but it was like half free space on both the internal and the external drive (the sd-card here is called ext_card) so that shouldnt be it.
I then thought it might be a good idea to upgrade again since not only does it have ICS but there was an upgrade as well on top of that. Upgraded it and thought it ran decent but now again I feel it is pretty slow. It usually takes 2-3 seconds to load the picture of someone calling and stuff like that. At times it is a bit more rapid though but usually it is pretty slow.
I do not run a gigantic list of apps so I have no idea what to do really. Considering to root and perhaps overclock slightly but it feels like that shouldnt be the thing since it worked fine for a long time on 2.3.
Would love any sort of help on this one.

Flash custom rom, custom kernel with overclock, and use root uninstaller, to remove any program u dont like
Unlock bootloader, Install FXP CM9 no need to OC, you will never have performance issues. And one more advice: Never flash any stock based **** except for munjeni's work he is a real dev. Others pretty much just throw some useless crap like acid sound mod and cybershot mod on their roms and fill it with crap, call it lame names, claim that their rom is the best, when its just a nastily rethemed stock rom i only found fidwlity zx useful so far, because of the most complete xperia z ui.
That's because we have too low ram available on Sola when we have tons of apps installed.
I feel my phone pretty fast, like a clean installation of ICS from scratch but i did some tweaks to it that requires to be root to achieve this.
I disabled almost all unnecesary apps from Sony, denied permision to start on boot to tons of installed by me apps. Those makes the booting a hell slow and slowdown performance when multitasking because they are wasting ram (who needs youtube, google glass or maps running from the start? they just waste ram!). Also i use greenify and seeder (both apps from here, xda) who helps on quick reponse (seeder) and keeping apps hibernating (greenify) when not in foreground use
hey everyone, this is the first thread i ever posted on here, so here we go. I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 i535 (verizon). And its running carbon 1.7 jellybean rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136840) with the KT747 Kernal. I do not have many apps or anything on my phone, anything media like pictures and videos and backups are on the external sd card. Leaving the phone internal memory barley being used but it tells me i only have a little more then a gig left. I uninstalled MANY of my useless apps and still there is to a little more than one gig. I am posting here instead on carbons forums because no matter on what rom i am running this happens, i could be running stock and it still happens. I realized when i ran liquid smooth 2.9 rom i did have around 2.9 gigs free. So i'm not sure what to do. I was thinking about wiping the internal memory but i am not sure. Factory resets doesn't do much too. I also have put a screen shot to show what i mean. Thank you guys !
How is it that this phone which should be newer and better than the sgs3 is a slow laggy piece of ****..everything is just super slow on this phone.. anyone have suggestions on how to fix?

i'm still on tw and unrooted, works perfectly fine for me unless if i'm hogging up resources
I haven't removed one piece of bloat and still on the stock rom (yesterday installed a custom kernel, but it was actually faster before that. i did it for battery life) and it's still running faster than ever. You might have a defective one.
No problems here, all bloat installed. Actually I have 752 apps installed.
I've used many different kernels and roms, stock and custom.
Only time there is any lag is when the apps are auto updating.
Try disabling any auto update, i.e. play store and Samsung apps.
Either set a schedule or do it manually.
Hope that helps, and I made the jump from s3 to the s5 as well.
T-Mobile Galaxy S5
I would honestly try going back to pure stock and see if you get the same results.
It could be the ROM you're using may have an issue, going back to pure stock can help rule that out.
Alternatively, getting a logcat and seeing if there's a ton of error messages may also do the trick.

I'm on stock rom and rooted. No lag whatsoever. Your running a custom rom and complaining about lag?? There's your issue right there. Most people completely stock don't even have your lag complaints.

Walk that iPhone 5S into the nearest Apple store and ask them to reimage your phone to one without iOS 8 beta....
If you are looking at a replacement, the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 with the latest updates is a very solid performing and non-laggy device.
My S5 works great and is:
1. A stock device with no root or customized ROM.
2. Loaded down with a lot of applications and widgets, but I've tested them over the years on an S3 or Nexus so I have a good idea of what is CPU heavy or battery heavy.
3. On the latest firmware (at least until 5PM PST when the VoLTE update is pushed) G900TUVU1ANE6.
4. Turned off S Voice as I primarily use Google Now.
An extra app I do use that I recommend is "AppMgr Pro III". It helps me determine what applications can be moved to SD Card. Some can be moved, but may impact widgets and what not, so it does a good job of letting you know if that is an issue or not.
Now that you are off your laggy phone, tell us how you love your S5
There are some bad S5's out there, got one yesterday. Lag was terrible, almost impossible to type because of the delay, scored low on Antutu, etc. Phone had other issues too - screen had uneven discoloration to it and bottom touch key buttons were unevenly lit.
Exchanged for another one and it was like night and day. All same apps installed, same settings and this new one has almost zero lag, typing is fine. If your phone has severe lag and stuttering, might be worthwhile to get it exchanged... My first one was a major lemon all around.
So my wife and I both got s8+ when they first got released. It seemed as if when we first got the phones, they were running flawlessly and fast as hell. Now a month or so later, both our phones seem laggy and sluggish. I always run device maintenance on both to keep things cleared up. Dunno what else to try. Wish we had root already so I can get rid of all this bloat and unnecessary stuff. Any recommendations from anyone? Dunno if maybe debloating apps or programs with a app is possible without root?
Yes. Dont do maintance. My wife did maintance and her phone slowed down, by cleaning and freeing up space. Since she stoped phone been back up to speed

Really? That's odd. Why would they have device maintenance in the phone settings then? Lol
Before they didnt have the feature, but was avaible through different apps at the playstore. Now they have their own app that came preinstalled. Im happy with the close all button, easier than maintance
package disabler pro, make the bloat go away (wont free up space but keeps that crap from running)
