I'm from Turkey. But my countrys SIII Firmware is behind other countries. ( I mean "old" ) So, Which countries firmware Should I use to get latest SIII firmware ? And Is there any performance difference between my Country's old Firmware and Other Countries latest firmwares ?
Note : Latest Turkey Firmware is XXFLB
There is nothing wrong if u flashed a firmware from other countries. I myself flash european fw while i live in asia. Just go ahead and download the latest of ur choice and flash it

I have a SGS2 which I bought in Hong Kong. The firmware installed on it is I9100ZSKG2 with CSC = OZSKG2. However, up until now no 2.3.4 firmware is posted with the region HK. So my question is will it be alright if I use a 2.3.4 firmware from another region? For example Singapore (I9100DXKH2 CSC = OLB)? Do I need to change the CSC back to OZSKG2? Thanks!
You can flash any region firmware over any region. European region firmwares are stable afaIk. You can add any CSC of your wish with it.
Regards.
thanks for clearing the ambiguity.

Hey,
I live in India recently i bought a Samsung galaxy s2 from Saudi (KSA) so when i connected it to kies it says this is the original update (2.3.4) available firmware but in India we are on 2.3.6 and the firmware states that it's a ksa model not an india model so do think it wise if i flash it with an indian update using odin.. You know like flashin an official update with an different region.
2. Should i have the USB Debuggin mode ON while i flash it with odin.. since i downloaded the kies will that be enough for odin to recognize my phone..
Oh and i also i checked out if its a g or a non g one.. Soo no worries of bricking my phone there Pheewww !!!!1

Just in addition to JJE:
Have a look into intratech's Offical Firmware thread here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
There you can find a good description on how to flash a new stock ROM using Odin.
And you can find the latest, stable and non-wipe versions for nearly all ROMs.
Good luck !
Hello all,
I purchased Galaxy S2 last year in June in United Arab Emirates and have had following firmware:
PDA:KE2
PHONE: KE1
CSC: KE1 (ARB)
Kies still shows no updates for my device.
It is Gingerbread 2.3.3. It does not support Arabic (all Arabic text appears as blocks) even though it should.
It is not a carrier branded version. It is available in the country through only 1 official Samsung distrubutor. My friends who purchased the phone much later have different firmwares on their devices and have proper Arabic support and have had their phones updated through Kies few times.
What I feel is that there are different series of Galaxy S2 devices released in the country havind different firmware series. I purchased my device the very first day it was released here (pre-ordered).
I think that there are newer firmware updates for my device though I can not understand exactly which ones will work with my device. I am wondering why no updates have been made available on Kies.
Can anyone guide me to the exact firmware updates for my device (all 3 part; PDA, PHONE and CSC). Gingerbread 2.3.5 would be preferred. Or should I wait for Android ICS 4?
Thanks very much!
Just root your phone.

Forget kies it's terrible software.
Make sure you have a I9100 version of the phone the Read this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Learn how easy it is flashing firmware with Odin and find a good late version firmware to your liking. Then flash it.
You can flash your csc also to keep that if you need it. Carrier specific Stuff.
Also you can flash modems to see what gives you the best reception etc.
After you have done this kies will probably not work for updates anymore but you can download an app called checkfus from the market to check your carrier/region updates.
Hope this helps.

Did you purchase from UAE then I suggest you just take the phone to the service center they will upgrade to latest firmware for free. Else go to Intratech's thread and get the jpkj2 firmware. With XSG csc this one is for uae. The link is in my signature official firmware.

Forget the damn kies....use Odin and get the latest firmware for the arab wich is jpkj2......

Hi,
I am sorry if this is a repeat question......
I have a S2 from Saudi Arabia with CSC: KSA (UAE).
I want to change CSC to INU (India).
1. How can I do this?
2. Will I get official ICS India update through kies after I update the CSC?
use odin and flash official rom for india
Try csc changer from market. But it will reset your phone.

Does official rom for India means CSC, PDA and Phone or it is just one of them?
Also is it possible that I flash official GB 2.3.6 India rom and get official India ICS update from KIES?
Yes Odin package is whole stuff.
Yes you can also go that root, GB to ics via kies.
But Odin is better.

Flash official ICS via Odin, go to sammmobile.com click the firmwares tab then the smartphone link, then the Android link, then your phone model and finally your region.
Find the latest firmware for your actual location India or India and sub Continents, you will need to register to download it, then use Odin to flash it.

Thanks
Thanks guys......it worked like peice of cake...... though after I updated to indian 2.3.6 version through kies said you cannot get updates through kies.....but I updated again to Indian ICS version (thanks to sammobile)......and it works fine....even kies is not giving any error now.....

As stated by an aussie XDA user
The T model is tuned to favour the 850mhz band. There is a difference in hardware but very minor. Other than that they are the same.

you can use any country firmware other than the asian countries (china, thailand, koreea, vietnam, etc.) unless you want some apps to be in a wierd language .
