SIM locks - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are they hardware embedded ? I recently flashed omega to my orange locked gs3 and although I do not see the orange animation during boot I still needed voodoo unlock. I don't know why but today I couldn't receive any calls or messages nor send any, I had to reboot to be able to.

Bump
-Today this happened again, I noticed I couldn't send any sms. I restarted my galaxy and service was available again, lost numerous calls and messages the entire day.
I am using this rom, when I installed it I did a full wipe and there was no sim lock afterwards but whats happening now is strange.

Simlock is encoded in file nvdata.bin in EFS folder. Three is no hardware locks in galaxy series. Bootloader and simlock are set by software mods. Your problems are propably only current ROM related.

Baseband failure? Loosing internet connection

Hi
Few days ago on my phone i lost internet connection, i thought its the operator fail but now i think the problem is in my phone.
I use p760 with 10.1.2 when this occured. Later i updated to 10.1.3 and the problem still persist.
I tried switching to 2g but its greyed out and phone says it can't connect to network. Disabling mobile data and enabling doesn't work too.
I thought about flashing baseband but all links are dead.
Please help!

// it got even worse because i cant even call or send sms
You need to offline flash your original kdz or use LG support tool to recovery your phone firmware. Those process restore your original baseband back. If you cannot download kdz I think LG mobile support tool may be a better option.

After fixing messed up EFS: Flashing custom ROM alters Serial, SIM can't be unlocked

Hey folks,
I really badly messed up my EFS recently, with broken IMEI and S/N. It took me a few days of searching, reading and trying before I finally could restore both IMEI and S/N.
Part of the problem was the XXEMG4 EFSv1 to EFSv2 change, and I lost the backup'ed EFSv1 files (of course I did NOT make an EFS Backup when I got my I9300, shame on me).
So now I face another problem that very likely is related to the above story:
I wanted to flash a Cyanogen 10.2 nightly via mobile Odin but it froze, so after 15min with no progress I rebooted to download mode, flashed Phil'z Touch recovery and reflashed Cyanogen after full wiping.
It booted properly and asked for the PIN, but the correct PIN wasn't accepted anymore. There was no "Wrong PIN" or anything, the same SIM unlock screen appered again. "sim/rmei(or rmid? Anything like that starting with R...) locked" was written at the bottom of the screen.
I shut the phone down, removed the SIM card and booted straight into Android.
In the settings I found my serial no being altered, something starting with 4f..., it was also longer that the usual serial. To me it looked like a hex number.
When I reflash the stock image everything's fine... I haven't tried to flash another rom yet, maybe that's still an option?!
Any other ideas save for "take it to a repair shop"? Unfortunately there aren't any around my town...

Previous unlock methods no longer work with efs v2, there is no solution at present other than unlock code from your network provider.
So, I've tried to flash AOKP now, same problem. The full text is "SIM/RUIM card is locked. - emergency calls only".
I'm not certain, but i think this is the default text in the SIM unlock screen.
No matter which digits I enter, when hitting ENTER the PIN field gets cleared. Even with a wrong PIN there's no "Wrong PIN" warning.
The IMEI is still correct, but the S/N has changed, now it is 4df772e33ef0cf19.
I remember similar problems with my Desire HD when flashing an AOSP kernel on a Sense based rom...

[Q] GS3 with problem in signal

Hello people. The time was using a SIM chip in my S3 but it only worked the data network and no phone calls. It displays the H + icon and access the internet without problems, but does not do phone calls, appear Mobile network not available.
So I changed my carrier and everything started to work until yesterday the same problem happened again. The IMEI number is correct.
Could someone help me? Grateful.:good:
Flash stock firmware and factory reset, if still the same then hardware issue.

I've tried going back to 4.0, 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 ... also tried to apply a patch that I can not remember the name and do md5 flash modem ... nothing worked .... what I do not understand is, I can access the internet without problems, but not the phone. Functioned smoothly, nothing stood in the current operator I'm using. can it be hardware?

[Q] 000... Serial, Emergency Calls Only etc

Hi XDA, firstly, thank you for providing such a valuable resource. I have been on the brink of phone death too many times to count and XDA has brought me salvation time and time again.
So my problem is that my old rom (ArchieDroid), which was working perfectly before was throwing up innumerable "Google Play Services not working" errors so I decided it was time to flash a new ROM so I flashed RevolutionHD from this website which booted fine and was working wonderfully except I had Emergency Calls only.
I downloaded Galax
SIM Unlocker to see some details of what was going on and it said I have a 0000000 serial number. I'm on Virgin Australia and I have full signal and virgininternet and virginmms show up in APNs but I can't find it in network operators. GalaxSIM says Sim lock status is undefined (worked fine before anyway, was arleady unlocked) and my product code is Not Active. I'm running basebane XXUGNA8. My IMEI is still in tact but reads [IMEI]/01 I've heard this /01 or /11 cause some people problems and am wondering if this is a part of it.
Really don't want to pay $150 just for some guy to install something at a shop that I could have done myself.
All you need is to restore your efs backup. If you don't have one search for Ariza patched modem and use custom kernel in example Boeffla.

Couldn't find Ariza patched modems but I found Zuluman patched modem and kernel on my computer and couldn't find them uploaded on XDA so for anyone looking in the future here is XXUMGK6 Modem and Kernel Patched by Zuluman. Please make sure to back up efs first because I just nulled mine. https mega co nz/#F!xNMSxJzK!PdDaEp9ve1z4lJma7PKwgw

[q]After changing rom CM->STOCK, cant register to network.

I had CM stable for i9300.
I want back xeo stock rom.
I have made efs and radio copy using ktool.
I loaded i9300XXEMD2_I9300XXEMD1_XEO.
I had lost my imei, imei was like 0049...
I had used ktool to recovery efs, after that imei was correct.
But now my phone have something like simlock.
PIN to network is needed, I cant register in network.
After that I loaded i9300XXUGNA5_i9300XEOGNC1_XEO
added custom recovery + wipe data/factory reset + root + ktool efs restore.
Nothing... I cant register in network. Phone need network pin code.
imei is correct,
imeisv: 01
serial number is correct.
What Can i do?
Did you change your SIM's PIN code ever? If no then search in Google the default PIN for your network's SIM
SIM PIN has been changed. I cant find this code for Polish Play operator.

When booting: does the window appear to input SIM-PIN?
After boot, i see message "sim network unlock pin", form and two buttons unlock and dismiss.
I don't know this, so only an idea: enter any PIN and after 3 wrong inputs you should be asked for PUK. This long number is part of your provider's contract.
