Sense Overriding Launcher Choice - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I've had the LTEvo pretty much since it became available, and one of the first things I did was switch from Sense to another Launcher. I eventually settled on Apex, and it's been running like a top since then.
Since last night, however, any time I hit the home button, exit an app, open my phone, etc., it defaults to Sense. Apex still shows itself to be the default launcher, both in the system settings and in Home Switcher, and I can manually switch to it, but that's obviously not an ideal solution. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Apex, and that didn't work. Anyone have any wisdom here?
TIA

well i was going to say use titanium to freeze sense. but your not rooted. but thats what i do.

Try going into apps and clearing defaults for the sense launcher.
It has a home screen icon for it. Might work.

+1 for this solution. Root and then install Titanium Backup, then freeze sense. You should be good to go at that point.

There are 2 or 3 apps that say something about sense. Do you freeze all of them?

[Q] AWD Launcher wont work

Ok, I am not sure this is the best place, but it is from Vael Pak's rom on my old 4g that I learned about this launcher. I had it on my 3d and loved it, but yesterday, it stopped working. It is instaled but I have the sense dekstop/launcher. I have un-installed, and re-installed, I have cleared all the data and reset it, but it won't show. Any ideas?

Okay this worked the last time I lost it, but now I cannot find the Sense Launcher in my manage apps. Now what? Do I have to uninstall and reinstall awd?

YouTube Links in Browser

Does anyone know how to click on a YouTube link in the browser and have the video play in the YouTube app? This is really annoying not being able to do this. Damn Apple!

This was not in the Apple patent..
It was in the pattent. It's not allowed to show a menu from the browser or the messaging apps. But the op's request is also a question I have. It would be nice to figure this out.

Yeah I had no problem doing this in sense 3.6. I hope HTC updates their app association settings to include a few more options. It's really bare. Most of the problems people have been having should be able to be fixed in software update.

If you had a us based sense 3.6 it should have had this problem as well. The cause is htclinkifydispatcher.apk. If you are rooted you can remove this app in /system/apps restart and you'll get your menu back but some apps such as talk and messaging won't work correctly with links anymore.

Found Fix For The Back to Home Loading Lag

Go into setting then developers options. Go all the way down too Apps then background process limit. Choose At Most 4 processes. Even 1 process worked and made the loading thing go away. I don't see it anymore everything is instant.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
What does this limit, apps running in the background?
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Yes it limits the apps in background, so it "multi tasks" even worse.
More importantly, it doesn't solve the problem. Didn't help me at all. Some others report it may help at first, but it comes back.
well I set it back to standard and I still haven't seen that issue yet anymore.

It's actually Sense reloading when you exit from an app. Instead of going right to the home Page, you get a little rotating circle for up to 20 seconds. It's been a problem with Sense for a while on a number of different platforms with different updates. Been reported on both the LTE and the One X.

Really if you use almost any alternative launcher it well be better, Rosie is slow and bloated. Still amazed how little free ram this phone has on boot, thought sense 4 was supposed to be lighter...

Its just cuz of what HTC set the OOM values to, and apparently didn't set Rosie to be locked in memory. Can be modified with root. But I, personally, set Nova as the default launcher.

You should try ram manager app by juwe if your rooted. Works great completely fixes the multi task issue. I paid for it but i think theres a free one with less options. It works like v6 supercharger script, has a nice widget with available ram batt and temp. Give it a go, i always have between 150 and 250 md of available ram and apps don't get killed.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
This was happening to me too. I accidentally put my phone into safe mode. I did a Google search and was able to get out of safe mode by turning off the phone and restarting holding the volume up. The phone doesn't seem to have the problem anymore. I also noticed that some of my widgets(tether and bookmarks) were gone, which might have been the problem in the first place. I hope this helps somehow.

[Q] Best ROM with minimal/no crapware?

I have an old Evo 3D that i will be just using for a 3D picture/video viewer and want to get rid of/freeze all of the junk and bloatware. No buddies, friendstream, Spiderman etc.
What I need working: WiFi, Google play, gallery, HDMI out, camera. I don't need the phone part to work even.
What is the best smallest ROM that I can use where the above works but the crapware is gone and battery life is better than stock?
Also is there a way to stop all of the remaining stuff from always autoloading and taking up RAM/CPU like maps, mail etc?
Assuming your phone is CDMA, if you are looking for something cleaned up, but still very stock looking, I recommend MeanROM 4.5 for Gingerbread, or Mean ICS for Ice Cream Sandwich. You could also try SOS ICS which is an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM based on Mean ICS but that allows you to pick and choose some options to install.

Since what is crapware is defined by each person individually, what ROM do you suggest? The amount of extraneous software is minimal in Mean compared to most other ROMs, especially compared to stock. Since you are rooted, you can freeze or uninstall apps you do not want using something like ROM Toolbox.

The beauty of having root is being able to remove "crapware". Just remove it yourself. Problem solved.
Viper ROM is a good start, it comes with most bloatware already deleted and Titanium backup already installed so you can pick and choose whatever else you want to delete. I would recommend using the gingerbread ROM to maximize on your battery since you are using it for a multimedia device.
aosp. they dont come with any bloatware. Agrabren (i think thats how its spelled) has a CM9 rom with a working camera.

Does this ROM have everything that I asked about working such as camera and HDMI?
I know some of these ROMs break certain features, a common one that goes by-by with these is HDMI out.
Also how do I know what can be frozen without bad consequences? I froze apps on an Infuse once, ones that were even specifically stated as not being needed, and the whole interface dissappeared rendering the phone unuseable. I had to go into download mode and re-flash the whole thing and set up from scratch. That was a hassle and time waster.
I would just install a stable ass rom like MeanRom and then use Titanium backup to uninstall or freeze all the crap you don't want.

Seriously, which browser doesnt reload pages when letting it run in the background?

Am using dolphin HD now. Whenever i "close" it with the home button and open up another app. I go back to dolphin and the webpages are being reloaded? i remember iPhone doesnt do this unless it really runs out of memory. Now, i have a tweak on my rom that doesnt let my ram drop below 200mb. Any ideas why this is happening?

i don't know which rom you are using so copy and backup the nandroid to your computer.

No, you are just seeing the system lock screen. Touchwiz, for the most part, on the GSIII, is just a launcher. A lot of the other things you see are other parts of the ROM.
Freezing Toucwiz with Titanium Backup would have been a better choice that deleting it.
