Strange that you cannot access recovery. It should work. However, as a last resort you can flash a stock build using ODIN and then wipe data off
just flash cf root and recovery again should reinstate it with Odin, then you won't lose anything hopefully

I should have said that everytime when I boot up my phone it goes into a black screen. Unless I go into download mode, which in my case still works. So I just flash a stock rom using odin?
Flashing a stock Rom will fix it too, but back everything up as you will lose it all, but if you were rooted then just flash the cf root in Odin, that will give you your recovery image back (remember on the s3 recovery image is separate to kernel)

Alright I will try and flash cf root to see if I can keep my data. So under ODIN where will I place cf root?
EDIT* Ok I followed the instructions and it failed for some reason. I will just install a stock build. Do you know by chance where I can find one at? I have an At&t SGS3

I think all you need to do (if you haven't solved it yet) is to get into recovery mode by pushing volume up + home + power, is a common issue after flashing... once you get there, perform a wipe cache, and wipe/factory reset, and you should good to go

Question 2
i want to root my phone in stock firmware,i like touchwiz and every thing that came stock but having root access so i can get any thing i want so please suggest me the best firmware for S2
I will be really thankfull for you responce, and please if i made some mistakes above i am sorry again i am new here
1-root with cf-root for you firmware using Odin.
2-boot into recovery and do a cwm backup or use the cwm app that installs with cf root to do the same.
3-if you want to go back to stock flash the original kernal using Odin and use a download mode jig to reset counter to hide flashing.
4-if you use a custom rom restore backup then do the above step.
You can find plenty of how-to's on any if the above points on this forum or by Googling it.

And or look for your stock/branded rom download in the development section .

Ok. To flash the original kernal you will need to get it from the intratech thread. He had them all I think. This will remove the custom kernal and, assuming you are still on stock firmware everything is stock again.
As for the jig, when you flash a non stock kernal, there is a counter which shows when you go into download mode. Samsung put this in to see if you had flashed anything if you return it for warranty. The jig plugs into the phones USB/charging port and clears it so Samsung knows ****. I bought one off eBay for $2 delivered.

Flash a stock Rom via Odin. Wait till your phone boots up. Go back to Odin install a custom kernel (i recommend siyah kernel). Backup your stock Rom, then install a custom Rom. There is a lot of tutorials to tell you exactly how to do this process. If you need help at any point of this process just send me a message and I will give you a detailed walkthrough. I've used odin A LOT and never had a problem. I only ever use the PDA section and never touch anything else because I don't understand it. I can't comment on intratechs thread as I've never used his software. Any custom ROMs are normally flashed via CWM.

This is because you flashed a wrong kernel for your phone.
# Quick question:
Is your phone on Gingerbread, Android 2.3.x or ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich), Android 4.0.x?

I have the I9100BVLPH stock ROM from T-Mobile UK on my phone so I downloaded the correct Chain Fire kernel (CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LPH-v5.2-CWM5.tar) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399 and this caused the phone not to boot.
Thanks for the link to Siyah, I used the v4.1.5 kernel and it worked great.
Hello there.
I'm in a bit of a trouble so I need some help. I've bought an S2 for my wife from a guy (in Ireland).
The phone was locked on Vodafone so I tried to root it maybe I'll be lucky to unlock it with out paying nothing. So, the phone is on Gingerbread with a BUKJ3 kernel. I've downloaded last night a CF root but by mistake I took a KG3 instead of KJ3. After flashing with Odin 1.85 I got stuck on the boot screen with the yellow triangle.
This morning I've downloaded another kernel as in KJ3 flashed with Odin, the phone is starting but no network coverage, I tried with different Sim cards but nothing so I went in recovery mode and wipe/format data, system, dalvik and cache as factory reset as well. Since that moment the phone won't boot, it gets stuck on the boot screen and yellow triangle.
I can go in recovery mode and download mode with no problem but I can't make it start.
I reflashed the kernel, I don't know what to do and tomorrow is my wife's birthday and I was trying to surprise her with a nice phone but instead looks like she is gonna get a brick ( I hope not)
Thank you guys for any help.

Thank you for the reply. I don't mean any disrespect but for the last 3 hours I'm looking over kernels and forum and my brain is really wired now maybe.
I've had a look at sammobile but I can't find what you've recommended. A more specific link will be more than helpful.
Thank you very much anyway. If I'm getting advises it means I didn't bricked the phone so I might be able to fix it.
Once again thank you.
You just go to sammobile, then register, then firmware and files, then put the info in the 4 fields
eg
Smartphone
Android
Gt-i9100
Then uk/ire XEU (or vodafone or whatever..but unbranded better)
Then youll see a list about firmware version and their release date
Eg
Lpt 4.0.4 ics jul 2012
Lp7 4.0.3 ics apr 2012
So download lp7 4.0.3 and flash with odin.
Then use the rooting guide in my sig
Then do the other things I said.

But you should have a backup and a nand backup.
I had the same problem yesterday and I restored efs folder/restored nand backup.....which got it back.
So try that or theres a thread about "restore imei in 9 easy steps".

Could do with a little advise. I have rooted in the past, most recently my HTC desire. I used to flash roms all the time.
Anyway I have decided to root my s2 and I am having problems. I root view odien and everything goes fine but when it reboots everything is the same and have no root access? any ideas?
If it helps I did the manual ics update a while back, don't know if that has anything to do with it?

You're not really explaining the steps you took to root. Flashing a CF-Root kernel through Odin would usually do the job if you want to maintain stock ROM. Otherwise, flashing a custom ROM would also give you root access as most ROMs come with it built in.
I strongly suggest you explain further what steps you took to flash. Because root view odien doesn't say much and is quite confusing.

You should know by now to post the details about your phone.
I could say flash siyah-s2-v4.1.5 via odin(which gives root/perm cwm and safe kernel).
But I wont til you post the details.....

It has always been my preference to root through a custom kernel... If you do decide to go this way, download siyah v4.1.5 and flash it through the PDA section of odin.
Also, as theunderling said, please post your phone details before flashing.
Flashing this kernel will grant you root + permanent CWM

If you followed this tutorial you are already rooted on 4.0.3. If you want to upgrade to 4.0.4 I recommend to flash a stock 4.0.4 via odin then Cf-root (or other prerooted) kernel to have root, custom CWM recovery and be safe from brick bug. Then flash desired custom rom. Yes, custom roms come usually with root.

I haven't mate. I downloaded root checker and it says I don't have it.
No you don't. Flash the TAR ( NOT zip.) version of siyah or dorimanx kernel via Odin. You don't need CWM for this. Once you install one of these custom kernels you will have root and CWM and can then install a ROM and whatever else you want via CWM.

Ok thanks mate.
It won't let me download the tar?
Sorted it going to flash the resurrection remix ROM. Says on galaxys2 root.com that its probably the best ROM you can run on this phone. Is this true?

Everything depends on what you expect from a rom. If you look at a picture in my sig you notice that I expect someting different.

Theunderling is not so much patient for new members
It happens everytime you flash custom software to your phone via PC odin.
Use Triangle Away app from Google Play store to remove it. However read carefully the app instructions before you use it.

OK thanks everyone for your help.
Can someone help me flash a recovery ,i rooted it and tried flashin recovery got stuck at a i900 screen wot triangle . device is rooted somone please help. I tried rom manager but its a no go
And apparently you didn't do much reading. There is a sticky at the top of this forum that informs you not to use Rom Manager on this phone.
Recovery is part of the kernel on the SGH-I777. It is not in a separate partition. You will have to flash the appropriate kernel for your version of the stock firmware. The easiest way is with Mobile Odin lite or Mobile Odin Pro. Please post your stock firmware version.

4.1.2
You would need to flash AJK v4.9 no swap. I believe it's the only custom kernel that works with stock jellybean.
You need to extract the boot.img from the zip and flash it with Mobile Odin. Then boot into recovery and re flash the kernel zip file with CWM. Otherwise the buttons won't work.
