Try removing the exchange acct and then re-installing it.....exchange sometimes acts a little crazy when loading.....

My wife's hotmail was acting up for a few days and the temporary fix was to add debug- before the server name. So i made her incoming server name, under account settings, debug-m.hotmail.com(no spaces). That fixed it for a few days until today i changed it back to m.hotmail.com and it has started working again.
So, try adding debug- to your incoming server name and see if it helps.
I have a feeling Microsoft is working on servers based on Google searches i made trying to fix my wife's hotmail exchange account on her phone. Makes sense since they just started outlook.com

I'm having the same issue. It worked yesterday and then suddenly stopped working again. I'm not sure what to do anymore. It is happening for both the Hotmail and Activesync accounts I have.

I found it only happens when I try to set up the acct in hotmail or active sync. In the regular mail it will sync just fine,,,freakin weird...

Well, I just set it to SmartSync and it syncs every now and then. Definitely not consistent behaviour though.
I don't know why HTC decided to lock down the settings like this where we can't specify port/server for both incoming and outgoing on Hotmail or Activesync. Bad design decision.

Hi,
I have flashed GSB V1.6 and I find three or more entries for each contact. Any reason why? Same happened when flashed Tazz's Gingerbread ROM. Can't seem to get rid of this problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Luis
Do you have the Facebook or Twitter app installed, set up to sync with contacts? I know I had a few duplicate contacts from FB because the names were different; I was able to go into the FB contact, edit the contact, and there was a link button on the menu - so I could link it with an existing contact.
Otherwise maybe you have dupes in your Google contacts? If you are a gmail user, you can go into gmail (on a PC browser), look at contacts, and I think that they have a duplicate detector.
Go to settings/Accounts & Sync, anything other than your gmail go into and uncheck sync contacts.

I had to do this the other day. Syncing Facebook, Gmail, etc was showing 300+ contacts. I logged into my Gmail account via my laptop and told it to find and sync duplicates. I had to fix a few manually (middle initials etc), but now only have 70 contacts.
Removing duplicates from my gmail account fixed the issue!!!
It was driving me crazy! Thanks so much for the tip!

I stopped manually backing up my contacts, in Google I trust lol, and had no more issues unless somebody opens a new account... then I have to link their new and old.

Duplicates are really frustrating; this can cause other conflicts as well. On the side note using duplicate remover tool Scrubly Duplicate Remover is really effective. This automatically scan and delete those duplicates , merge compatible contacts and resolve other related conflicts.

I was curious enough to want to go ahead and try this. Google's own duplicate & merge feature misses some things, and I have just around 250 contacts so it would be a PITA to manually do things unless I absolutely have to.
Unfortunately, this is what I got when I tried to sign up for Scrubly:

I'm not sure what you are referring to about it "missing" some things but I just found that after flashing to the newest CM7 release, all my contacts were duplicated. I used the merge function on the web interface (not the phone) and it worked perfectly.
I'm not really sure why the issue even happened but I'm glad Google had something in place to help fix in short order.

I used Google's manual merge feature recently and I'm satisfied with the results, but I have nearly 300 contacts AFTER merging so it was a lot of manual work.
I was referring to Google's automatic duplicate detection in the same menu. All the contacts I manually merged were missed by it's duplicate detection feature. Probably 50 duplicates (25 or less contacts since some contacts had three or four entries).

I have a Galaxy Nexus with Stock 4.0.4 ROM and a Transformer Prime also with the stock ASUS firmware (4.0.3), The company where I work has a mail server that supports exchange (Kerio Connect)
At that server I have (because I need it that way) 2 different accounts, I need one of those accounts to synchronize everything; contacts, mail, calendar, and the other one to synchronize only calendar appointments.
If I configure the first account everything works just fine. But, when I configure the second account, I start receiving login errors for both accounts every certain time, the apps shows me the option to update my account credentials and when I do it works for the moment but after a while it fails again. If I delete whichever of the two accounts the other works fine.
I have not tested this scenario against other email servers, so I’m not sure if this a problem with my server or if this is an Android problem.
Both accounts are configured as Exchange accounts from Settings menu.
Any ideas?

. Let me make a second exchange account for myself and try adding it. I'll post back with the results
Edit:
I would confidently say that the problem doesn't reside with Android. Here is a screenshot of two fully working exchange accounts using the built in ICS email.apk program. Hope that helps you.

Good, but try to configure manually through no exchange, try configure email, or you can have the doors of the mail server bad configure

Synching with 2 exchange servers with conflicting policies
I have the following problem:
I have an SGS2 with the latest ICS release. I work with two companies supporting sync with the exchange server (2010) on a smartphone.
I can set up both exchange servers at the same time. The first day the both work, but on the second day one of the two (so far always the same) start giving me connection errors, and will no longer sync emails.
I am almost sure that the problem is that for security reasons, both want to have their security policy (admin privileges etc) enforced over my phone, and when they re-check daily they find that the policy is not as they want it.
Can anyone suggest a way to overcome this?
Thanks,
Geza

Sounds like a problem really similar to mine, but I'm not using MS Exchange server.
I did the suggested test, configured both accounts as "email accounts" and not as "Exchange accounts" Same result both works but after a while I start receiving "Could not sing on" errors, Enter the account settings and works again for a while, delete one of the accounts and everything works again with the remaining account. Will see if there is a way to look at the server logs, common sense says to me that if this were an Android bug there would be a lot of users reporting it.
Best regards
OK guys I looked at the server logs and I'm getting this error:
"keep-alive connection is misused with multiple user authentication" for both accounts
I'm not sure what this means and I could not find anything related in the Kerio Mail server documentation.
Any ideas?

I was getting this last night on my Xperia S and Xperia ion as well. It seems to have cleared up for me though. Maybe Google was/is having some issues or something.
I have this as well. Tried signing in but keeps coming up.
Everything is working so I have just left.
I thought was google+ too, but after uninstall it and reboot, after a couple of hours, same error...it's something with g-apps in general. I have a XPeria Play

This started happening after I updated my apps yesterday. Google Maps, Google + etc.
I am running stock gingerbread 2.3.6 on my i717 galaxy note.
I thought it was malware, so I have been just cancelling the request and my phone and all services continue to work normally.
Same problem here too and Problem started yesterday night here in KL. I'm using an HTC Incredible S btw.
It's getting really annoying now so hopefully Google will get it fixed ASAP.
Mine stopped last night. Haven't gotten the error again since then.
Got it this morning (HTC Sensation 4G). Trying to enter my correct password didn't help. Meanwhile, all Google accounts work fine.
Went to Google+ and did "Sign Out" and signed in again. The notification disappeared. Bur after a while it reappeared again.
Doing "Sign Out" -> sign in in Google+ clears it for a while, but it eventually reappears.
i had this today too
i'm now a bit concerned
can anyone confirm that this is actually officially google? or could it be another third party app pretending to be google to get my password?
i'm concerned because i tried putting my password in and it would not accept it....but if it's not actually from google team. maybe now someone has my password? but i don't want to go through all the hassle of changing my password if it's not necessary
Not sure what the problem is but like one of the posters said after updating the google apps it started but mine also stopped last night.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
Ill take that back. I just rebooted my device and the message came up again.

Seems to happen only when auto syncing.

Sent from my Desire HD.
I had the same problem on my GF's phone and my Xperia S as well, on hers it was a sync error with google+, on mine it was a sync error with bookmarks. It went away after a i switched the sync off then on.
1. Go to Settings -> Accounts & Sync
2. Open "Google" section
3. Uncheck all Google accounts (i.e. disable sync for Picasa, Google+, contacts, calendar, everything)
4. Enable just one Google sync account and hit "Sync now" button
5. Wait for the sync to finish
6. See if it makes the "bad password" notification to appear
7. Do steps 4-6 for each individual Google sync account (Picasa, Google+, contacts etc. one by one)
That way you will find the culprit. In my case it is Google+. I think this should be the same with all other phones. They screwed something up with background syncing for Google+. For now, uncheck "Sync Google+" in your Google sync settings and the problem should go away. I hope they fix it soon.
Meanwhile, the Google+ app works perfectly fine. And doing Sign Out -> Sign In in Google+ clears that notification.
thanks for the info, so it is definitely a google issue, not some third party app trying to steal our passwords? that's good to know
fixed for now
I had the same problem, until just after I got off work at 11 and turned on my phone, and now it's accepting my new password and updating all my applications and syncing everything. Everything is fine now, but I'll post if anything changes, I hope Google has fixed this issue because that notification was really annoying.
Oh and I have the Tmobile prepaid Samsung Exhibit II 4g with a rooted Android 2.3 Gingerbread operatng system.
My phone is not syncing with google calendar correctly. It shows that the sync is successful in accounts and sync but when I chsck online nothing is sync'd
If you have the Chinese variant of the HAM2 the MT2L05, you'll need to download and install.
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk
If not, then maybe remove the account and go back to settings and readd it. Then try syncing again.

Same problem after remove/add.
Error message?
Nope. According to the sync status in settings everything is working.
Go to settings manage applications then tap all
Then scroll down and look for Contacts Storage
Then clear data on that, sign out of the account and then sign back in and try manually syncing again.
It will sync from google but not to google from my phone.
For some reason I was thinking contacts were not synching. I see you put calendar isn't syncing. Try going into calendar and tap the 3dots menu, then calendars to display, then tap the 3 dots on the top of the screen and choose calendars to sync then choose the correct google account and which calendars you want to sync and hit ok.
Then when creating a new event check to ensure it is set to a google calendar and not 'Phone' by default (Phone doesn't sync). You might have to go back and change events created on your phone to be a specific calendar.

Yup. They were defaulted to phone. Now I have to re-enter the events because you can't edit them to google. How dumb to have it default to phone.
Should be able to change them in the drop down. Click phone and then select the google calendar. Like in the picture I posted but you would see phone where it says Google.
The good thing is that the calendar app does remember the last calendar selected so it should remember the google calendar after you select it for new events.

You're right that sucks
If you typed a good bit you can save some typing by clicking on the phone only event, clicking the 3 dots, clicking send event, send it to gmail or your email.
Then on your email client download it, and you can go to the browser and the desktop version of calendar and go to settings, calendars, then import calendars and import the .vcs file that was sent to email. You can choose which calendar to add the event too. It seems it can only be done one event at a time and I don't see a way to automate it.
Think u need the calendersyncadapter, not the contactsync. Another way u can try downloading the stock google calender app from playstore and try. It will install the adapter by default. But remember that if u choose to uninstall the Google one, the sync adapter will be uninstall also.

Problem was calendar defaulting to 'phone only' and not synching. When new events are created it can be changed to your Google calendar and sync happens properly then. It just defaulted to phone for some reason and wouldn't synch which is a big problem if you created a ton of events in phone only mode. I checked and it won't let you change it to a google calendar if it is already saved as a phone only calendar event. Fix is sending your event to email and importing the .vcs in the desktop version of google calendar for each event, or recreating each event on the desired google calendar which will sync.
Huawei must have done something with the calendar app besides just skinning it. The google calendar app is in the play store and doesn't show as an update.
Every manufacturer's calender are different. It's not just a skin over the stock Google calender. It's a whole different app altogether.

Hello all,
I am not sure if this thread belongs in this Forum or another.
I have Samsung galaxy note, using secure folder (Which is kind of another hidden smartphone inside the original one), it is giving me the ability to have 3rd Whatsapp in the same phone, for travel reasons, I need it.
I had my same original Google account in the secure folder, sync was working normally, till few months ago, it stopped.
Tried all possible solutions, nothing worked.
Then I tried removing then adding the account, after which the account was added to the secure folder, but with no sync options at all, Contacts, Calendar, mails, and others are all missing, but they were available before removing the first account.
I have 2 step verification on Googe, but trying App Password did not work, said the password is wrong and should use original password.
Tried few solutions, including installing Google Contacts sync, uninstalling and reinstalling secure folder, 2 step verification app password generator, permission toggling, cash clearing for google services and store and other appsm nothing works.
Installing Google Calendar added calendar option to sync, but only showing events in google calendar app, not in samsung app.
Installing google Contacts, added contacts sync option, but was unable to sync contacts.
Few months ago, same happened to a friend with Oppo smartphone, but with the main account on her phone, nothing was syncing, removing and adding Google account resulted in missing sync options too
This screenshot from secure folder where all syncs are missing (Same view of my friend smartphone few months ago)

This is very annoying, I feel google removed this option somehow lately, to force one to install only google apps.
From what you described, I don't see that you have performed all possible operations. Namely, you have not uninstalled Google Play and Google Play Services. Use my workflow described in the thread for android 4.
