So I've used Method 1 off this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794
I could get to CWM touch and install the second zip and it looked like it was going to work, then after installation is complete I went to reboot the system.
Reboot was good and I looked in application draw and saw Superuser, But yet when I opened the app it came up with
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it.This is a problem!"

Flash this through the stock recovery or CWM:
http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
It'll install the binary and Superuser.apk for you. You just need to install Busybox after.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Ok So I've flashed the zip now,
But yet again when I reboot I get the same message when I open SuperSU that I don't have the right binaries and when I try to install busybox It again can't verify.
Next time, better post in corresponding thread as i do not monitor other forums.
What phone do you use?
What ROM?
What kernel?
Have you rooted before with another method / custom kernel?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Ok,
I have a GT-19100
I use ICS 4.0.3
I have the stock kernel.
and I've only used method one of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28178105
and what nicholas1520 has given me, none working.
Try the unroot script then root again. If nothing works, try an alternative kernel like cfroot or Siyah. Strange, you never never rooted before? I have doubt. Some leftovers in /system from a previous root. Wipes and rom flash in odin does not wipe /system
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
When I tried to use the unroot zip I got a message like invalid signiture or the like, and yes I've never rooted before I've only owned the phone for about a week and your method was the first one I've tried

You will never get signature error in cwm. You do it from stock recovery. Read the guide...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
I was so ignorant, I diddn't read it properly.
I've unrooted through the zip.
Lets try this again
You flashed the zip I've posted in the stock recovery?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Yea I did but when I flashed it I diddn't unroot from previous, So possibly there is some confliction.
Maybe I could try flashing through cwm touch?
Of course, these zip files all need to be flashed in cwm, not stock recovery

Which method did you use to root? Did you install cwm enabled kernel? If you used entropy's kernel + rooted system package the kernel is stock with 3e recovery.
yes
used rooted kernal via odin.

yes
cm7 from nighties. is there only certain roms i can install.
Did you install ROMManager and install CWM from there? If that's the case it won't work. I did the same thing and it kept on getting the same error you have. Start the root process from step 1 and don't install RomManager. Flash CM7 by booting into CWM using the 3 button boot.
i now have root but with stock recovery 3e. how do i get cwm recovery now. thanks. btw, what is the three button boot.
You have to flash your recovery image using this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285823
Hold down Volume Up/Down and power until the Galaxy S2 screen comes up, then let go of power to get into CWM (CWM = ClockworksMod)
Toggling in the cwm menu worked for me.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
If you used ROM Manager - don't.
Flash a kernel that has CWM (either codeworkx's or mine) using Odin/Heimdall, then enter recovery using the three-finger salute.
If you use ROM Manager's recovery, nothing will work right.
cwm
i have cwm installed via kernel. i do the 3 button boot and get to cwm. i also toggled signature to disabled. when i try to install cm7 over stock rooted image it aborts. doesn't say signature verification failed, something about buildprop. thanks.

Most likely you're trying to flash an I9100 build and not the correct CM7 build for our device (I777).
correct
i believe you are correct. can not find the full cm7att zip. only the update and when installed, it locks at the samsung s II logo. then have to restore my stock backup. thanks.
CM7.1 just got released into stable. http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=galaxys2att
That's for the ATT version. You can flash that.
tried that
that is the one that locks it up, it is an update, i need full. thanks.
I am also having the same exact issue with the verification.

Official release zips are marked as "update" even when they're a full release, mainly because they're no-wipe I think.
The build system names it "update" even when it's full. The 100 MB file size should be a hint that it's not just an update...
I also had this problem, but I used Rom Manager to flash cwm, which I shouldn't have. Flashed back to stock, re-rooted, reflashed CWM the correct way and have no problems.
E:Short write of /tmp/sideload/package.zip (No space left on device)
The phone is rooted as I've searched on google and what little I could find says to have it rooted. Not exactly sure what to try. I've wiped and reset everything and still a no go. Doesn't matter which ROM is selected either. Thank you.

Do you have Clockwork recovery installed on your phone? How are you trying to install these custom ROMs? Are you using ROM Manager?
You don't need root to flash a Rom...
Get Odin
Get an Odin flashable version of cwm
Flash said recovery with Odin
Boot into recovery by holding all the buttons till you feel a vibrant and letting off the power button, or the adb command: adb reboot recovery (or since you have root, download a terminal emulator from the market enter the command: reboot recovery, then Grant superuser permission.)
Then Flash Rom in cwm...
Old version of TWRP maybe?
To run the ROM Manager I needed root access. I tried to load the ROM from the ROM Manager and also straight from manual recovery mode.

Trying to install yours and i get
E:signature verification failed
That is stock recovery 3e...
Go read my post above...
THIS IS A LINK TO CWM TOUCH...JUST CLICK ANYWHERE HERE AND GET THE ODIN FLASHABLE VERSION
You do not need root to flash a Rom... Rom manager is not needed, and in fact just causes more problems than is worth
I don't think ROMmanager is even capable of flashing anything on the note. Someone correct me if I am wrong
You're correct...i wish that app would just go away and be erased from people's memories.
Actually i don't think Rom manager has worked on any Samsung device since eclair...as froyo was when they introduced 3e recovery, which requires signed update.zips, which only Samsung has the signature tool for.
So the update.zip Rom manager downloads to flash cwm with just gets stuck at "E: signature verification failed"
I'm still getting errors I'm going to search on youtube some more and see what could possibly be an issue. I go in with Up+home+power and erase everything I can in there and try to load from .zip and errors.
So I got it to work. I didn't really do anything differently except put it on my external SD card instead of my internal.

your link says you have two files. cwm and busybox. did you install both?
even if you have stock recovery, its not an issue as long as you're rooted. If you're going to install a custom kernel, you'll get a custom version of CWM anyways.
Guys I was trying to root my bro's GS3 with odin.. the flashing went perfect, infact there was a SuperSU and CWM app installed too, but when i tired to open the app it was showing that SU bianary needs to be updated..
I even updated the SuperSU from the Play store but was getting the same error essentially.. also tried the Superuser FIxer app from PS but it also stuck at
Gaining root access :fail
I tried flashing the SuperSU 1.51 .zip from the recovery mode by placing it in internal memory but to my surprise the file path of the internal memory was not visible and when i inserted a sdcard and copied the file to it and then tried to flash it thru recovery, it was successfull but got a few erros , something like who file not successful(will try again and post exact same thing in by tomorrow)
in the meanwhile can anybody help me? plz its urgent..
phone was on stock rom 4.3 OS before root
mods plz move this thread to the QnA section if necessary, i had ticked it while submitting but my browser froze soon after that

I do not think your ROM is rooted properly. Try to download some software from play store to check whether it is rooted or not.
If not rooted then you have to google and search the rooting process. You have to use computer ODIN to flash and root your phone.

Having SU app does not mean your phone is rooted. Thats just an front end to provide you root access. Your phone has to be properly rooted.

Do you have a custom recovery? Did you flash cf-auto root? Philz touch is a custom recovery based on cwm. Flash that with odin, go to philz settings and then re-root system.

The simplest place to start is a root checker app (just stick root checker into play store). If it says that you don't have root then you don't simple as that. In which case use CF-AutoRoot program on your pc which will flash both a Custom Recovery (clockworkmod) as well as root... after that, the world is your oyster...
The root checking app is the simplest way to check if you have root though if you're new to stuff like this.

I am sure you were using stock, based on the OP. Get the custom and have a go. If you flash auto root it will give you stock recovery. You need to check philz or cwm threads for the odin flashables.
Hey Guys,
I have looked through some of the other posts related to this issue for other phones, but still cannot get recovery installed
Was going to update to the newest Hyperdrive, but decided to ODIN stock and then reroot etc
1. My phone is MDK so I went with the Sticky on how to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798
2. Obtained root successfully (SU installed (binaries updated), Root Checker checks out fine, Also installed SuperSU just in case(Updated Binaries))
3. Downloaded and installed Goo.im Manager to have to it install TWRP for wins --- Heres where the issues occurred
--- Error message ---
No recoveries found for your device
And when I launch the application I get:: <h1>Not Found</h1><p>The requested URL /message was not found on this server.</p>
Attempted Solutions:::
1. I found a post the ROM Manager can do the same so I installed that and set TWRP as the custom recovery (shows successful) -- but if I choose boot to recovery it still goes to default android recovery
2. I cant seem to find it again, but I had a XDA post on how to install TWRP with ODIN for I545 --- this also did not work as I receive an error on one of the security checks
Any help you have would be greatly appreciated!!!
I miss having a custom ROM :crying:
I don't have an MDK phone so I can't be 100% sure, but I think I read that Goo manager and Rom manager don't work for our phones. People are saying to use Flashify.
