See my thread in the Dev section for downloads and Instructions: [ROM][AOKP][PORT] AOKP for the DX2 and the MX2 [8/4/12]
I have been working on an AOKP port for the Droid X2 and the Milestone X2. It's a port of the milestone 6 AOKP build available for the Atrix 4G (made by Th3Bill), using DzK's CM9 Alpha 5 as a base. Thus far everything seems to be running smoothly. I got it to boot after probably a good half hour of playing with the resolution in an AOKP animation I found over on RootzWiki.
I ran into some problems with the phone app refusing to show up, but eventually googled it and found that it was the modded contacts apk doing it. It still has a few things I should probably iron out such as some minor graphical glitches on first boot, and the section in settings for the 4G data crashing the settings app. In my probably fifteen hours of testing this out on my MX2 I've had one random reboot, everything else seems to be about where CM9 Alpha 5 is in terms of stability.
Anyway my point in posting this is: is there anything anyone would want me to add? Like a cool wallpaper, a cool theme, or even some cool mods. For example, I personally like the soft keys with the hard keys remapped to music controls that can be found over in the dev section. That specific mod should be left out, but is there anything you've seen somewhere that's for the DX2 or the MX2 or even a universal mod that you guys think would be nifty to have preinstalled? I've seen that there's at least a nearly fully functional version of Google Now for ICS, would anyone want that added in?
Please note that I take no credit for anything used in this project. All I'm doing is combining files to make something I think will be cool. If in the future you feel the urge to praise someone, praise DzK, Th3Bill, or any of the other developers I may or may not use stuff from.
awesome, i will be watching to see how this goes. Good Luck.
I know of a feature that you could investigate. Having 1% battery increments on the battery indicator.
I'll be watching this closely, if you need a guinea pig I would be willing to help

Yeah man, I second this. Would love to see 1% increments too.
I'll see what I can do. Wasn't there something like that for blur over in the dev forum? Might have to take a look at that.
hmm...it might already be there, just need to wait for my battery percentage to drop to confirm.
Edit: Or maybe not, just played music full blast through an unpowered speaker for a good 10 minutes, didn't drop one percent. So either I'm getting incredible battery life or it's still at 10% increments...well back to work.

i believe either in the systemui.apk or framework-res.apk youll hafta set it up to show battery increments of 1%, but i couldnt tell you if its within either of those or another apk. youll hafta google it.
Wait what is this about 4G data? The DX2 doesn't have 4G because it doesn't have the hardware for 4G.
The atrix has 4G. I think he is talking about a problem with the port because of that.
Sent from my MB870 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, the Atrix has 4G and the settings for it show up here but do not work because we do not have 4G.
In the way of the 1% battery I think I got it (at least while not charging), but I can't check yet because I tried to just replace framework-res.apk and it didn't like it when I renamed the old one before copying over the new one...so sbf'ing now and will check after I flash my updated zip.
Okay, I got 1% battery working, as long as it's left on the default battery icon option in settings.
On a slightly different note why does this forum have a requirement of 10 posts before you can post external links? I still need four posts before I can post links to this thing.
Well I want a download link so reply to all of my post, or go to general hangout bs thread and post about your day. Lol

I may not be able to post a link yet but there's now a wholesome copy/past-able link-substitute in the OP.

Do I need to flash ics gapps with this?
I hope this doesn't kill my phone.

You do need to flash the ICS GApps.
Oh and forgot to mention you should wipe /data, /cache, and /system and dalvik-cache prior to flashing, and wipe dalvik and fix permissions after the flash as well. I'm not sure if those last two are necessary but I always do it out of habit from my old phone and I'm not sure if that was affecting the generally good results I was having.
Thanks, I usually wipe the big three anyways. What does fix permissions do? It won't hurt anything if I do it, even though I might not need to?

Fix permissions shouldn't hurt anything. If you running some special mod that requires special permissions in /system than it can mess with that mod but other than that I have never heard of it causing problems.
(Here you go, get one more post in) What are the advantages of AOKP opposed to say CM9 or even MIUI?
Edit: and if this is even semi stable and working shouldn't it be moved on over to And Dev section?

AOKP is actually very similar to CM9, based on it in fact, the major difference there is that AOKP has a few more customization options in it. It has a whole section in settings called "ROM Control" through which you can change a whole slew of things. Most of those things are related to the interface but there are a couple of sections with some cool performance tweaks, like you can set custom values for the sd card speed tweak, you can have it zip-align unaligned apk's at boot, fix permissions at boot and other things. AOKP also has some other performance tweaks set up that are integrated into the system.
MIUI I haven't actually used on this phone, or ever on ICS, but as I understand it MIUI is more about looks and being able to theme it than it is about performance. AOKP and CM9 are more centered around providing great performance with an interface that is simple and clean. MIUI is much more flashy. It's also much easier to theme MIUI than it is to theme CM9 or AOKP. Or so I've heard I've never actually tried theming it.
The only reason I didn't put this in the Dev forum was because it required 10 posts to put up a new thread in there. Actually, I think this post gives me that 10 posts. Should I go ahead and put a thread up in there with instructions, links and all that?
Edit: Meant to ask another question, has anyone tried my DX2 version, I only have an MX2 and have only tested that. Would like to know if the DX2 version works.
Very in depth answer, thank you. But yes, I would move it over to dev and let some more people. Im away this weekend but if no x2 users have tried this by mon or tue ill give it a go.
Edit:Nope I thought about it and I don't know about posting again over in dev, they might get on you for double posting. I'd contact a mod and ask them to move it for you and rename it. Just my opinion.

EDIT: As per the request of Mr. Clown to maintain GPL compliance, this rom utilizes the stock kernel for the Motorola DROID X2.
After finalizing the stability testing of the Affinity Alpha ROM, I'm proud to announce the release of the first beta.
Now before there are any misconceptions or hate towards this ROM, I would like to make a few things clear.
This is NOT an original piece of work. I didn't build this from scratch nor will I pretend I did. However, what I did do is assemble a working foundation to start building off of, making it possible to release more substantial updates and make this an almost blur-free experience.
Regarding the controversy surrounding c21johnson's MinimalX ROM:
Although it may be true that he based his release off of the Chinese DX2 ROM, which itself is the cause of the "moto input method" keyboard that doesn't work and not the result of him "adding a last minute feature that was taken out right before release and all traces weren't removed" (I'm paraphrasing), he did put a good deal of time into building his adaptation and making sure it was stable, and we should all give him credit where it is due.
My ROM is also based off of the CHS DX2 ROM and I would like to acknowledge both that development team and c21johnson's work which helped me understand how to begin and develop this project.
With this current release, not a whole lot has been done yet. However, most of the bloat has been removed, the Blur launcher has been replaced with Launcher2, and there has been some style modifications.
In the future releases, this is what I plan to accomplish:
Full AOSP (This is about 25% done so far. I am currently dealing with some compatibility issue with the contacts, messaging and calendar apps.)
Rework the install process to actually format the system and preinstall folders for installing the rom, rather than just deleting each app manually.
CPU Frequency Scaling built in
Once I know app development a little better, I will release a toolbox similar to Liberty's to make edits, install themes, etc.
I'm sure more will come up along the way, but those are my highest priorities.
To install this ROM, you MUST be on an unmodified stock install. I tried installing over the stock ROM with a couple of system files missing and it ended up needing an SBF flash.
EDIT:
If you have a nandroid backup of the unmodified stock (except root and recovery) you can restore back and flash this ROM rather than SBFing.
1.) Download the ROM
2.) Place the ROM on your SD Card (internal or external is fine)
3.) Boot into Recovery (you need the bootstrap app to get to the correct recovery - www.bandbinnovations.com/xda/DX2/Bootstrap_signed.apk)
4.) Wipe DATA and Cache (VERY IMPORTANT!!)
5.) Install zip from SD Card (internal or external)
6.) Select the ROM and install it.
7.) Reboot
It should start up pretty quick, but if you are sitting around for more than 5 minutes on the boot logo or boot animation, you may have followed a step wrong.
IMPORTANT POST-INSTALL NOTE:
After installing and reaching the setup screen, skip the setup steps and get to the home screen. Then access the settings, go to language and keyboard and set either swype or multi-touch keyboard as your device.
If you enjoy what I've done so far, I appreciate donations. I spent about 20 hours in the past few days and had to do about 15 SBF flashes to get this to a stable point, and I will continue to put this amount of time on a regular basis. I'm really broke right now and I cant even afford a beer. Won't somebody buy me a beer or two, or six please!?!?!

Here are your Mirrors:

I Have attached the screen previews of the ROM's current look and feel.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy. Please use this topic to discuss any bugs you find and use the other topic for development discussion.

Great Job on the rom everything looks good so far
Yeah I am not sure what we are doing here either. I just dumped /system and was about to debloat and deodex. Why are the only ROMs posted 25mb? Is there a reason we aren't dumping the entire ROM complete with libs and bins etc?

This rom most likely does the same thing that MinX did which was delete all of the bloat and other pre-installed stuff then re-installs a small amount of files. This would be the reason you do not have to debloat yourself.
Is anybody using the supercharger script on this? I'm wondering if it's necessary. 200 mb+ of RAM? That is amazing...

The fellas who have decided to get the ball rolling on the ROMs don't appear to have much experience. They are tired of waiting amd are doing what they can to help development forge ahead.
I should mention that they both know more than I do. Glad to see you here though. I enjoyed using your dark ROMs on my Fascinate.

I am constantly playing with and 'tweakin' my Streak and have put together what I think is a good, lite, fast, and stable rom. I made this for my own use and decided to share it with the rest of you.
I started with 354 then removed all apps that could be downloaded from the market. I also removed alot of stuff that I didn't think was necessary (such as all the verification*.apk's, don't even know what they are). There are only 17 apps in the drawer on a fresh install! I added DJ Steve's kernel and some memory tweaks from using the HTC Kitchen. VTL Launcher ADW is the included launcher as well as Swype for the keyboard. There are also some customization provided by UOT Kitchen as well as a modified Settings.apk that I got from somewhere on here. I'd love to thank whoever made it, but I have lost track so if it's your's---thank you!
I'm getting Quadrant scores in the 1400's and battery life seems pretty decent. I gave up on Quadrant scores. My best guess would be low 800's for this version. I have found through trial and error that higher Quadrant scores mean less stability, and honestly I can't tell the difference in real world performance between an 800 QS and a 1400 QS. I can't tell you exact battery life because I haven't hardly put this thing down since I installed this.
I am not an expert by no means and have only gotten these results from tinkering and trial and error. I think this is good, but am open to suggestions for improving it.
I started off by installing stock 354 using stock recovery, then installed this using Streakmod recovery and did a Factory Reset (Dell's, not Streakmod's). I have had no issues so far.
I have seen this posted before and liked it so I'm going to use it here: If you find a bug, you get to keep it. If this breaks your Streak, you get to keep the pieces. Obviously installing a custom rom breaks your warranty, and I am not responsible for whatever happens if you install mine.
Thanks to everyone whose ideas I stole/used/borrowed/whatever. Without the true experts on this board, I wouldn't have had anything to tinker with.
What works: Everything I can think of
What doesn't work: Waiting for you to tell me. The time in the status bar is black and the status bar is blackish...makes it hard to see. I don't know why and haven't yet figured out how to fix this. If someone has a link to a good tutorial and I can make it work, I'll be happy to resolve it!
So without further ado, I present Streakin' 354v1 354 v1.1:
http://www.multiupload.com/1MVM3O34AN v1.1 *newest*
http://www.multiupload.com/BHI4Y4XD69 I'm leaving this link for those that prefer v1.
I do intend on maintaining this rom and tweakin' it more based on recommendation, more stuff that I learn, etc. I do have a full time job, so even though I want to answer questions immediately, it's not always practical. If it takes me a while to respond, I apologize in advance.
Edit 09/24/11 - If you prefer landscape mode, simply flash the attached file below in recovery. Be sure to wipe cache and dalvik-flash after flashing. After doing this it took 5-6 minutes for my phone to boot, but it did....eventually. You may want to backup first! I also added a portrait mode file in case you decide you don't like landscape after all. Enjoy.
Edit 09/25/11 - It was pointed out to me that this ROM does not have a init.d folder. I forgot to add it, although the support to run scripts in init.d is there. Until the next version comes out, using Root Explorer, or similar, create a folder named init.d in /system/etc/ and set the permissions to rwx,r_x,r_x. That should be all you need. Thanks.

Just an observation here. You might want to contemplate recreating this ROM using 360 as a base instead of 354 due to the more complete language support in the former compared to the latter.

I had contemplated using that rom as my base, but noticed everyone had better battery life with 354. 360 was listed as being an "update" 351, which gave me horrible battery life. If someone can tell me different as far as battery, I don't think it would be difficult to redo this based on one of the others (360 or maybe 364?)

OK, I removed DJ Steve's kernel and replaced some files that were changed to accomodate it. My quadrant scores are now in the 800's and I'll report back with the 'feel' of the device and stability over the next day or so. I love seeing high scores, however must admit I've never really noticed a difference in day to day use with the higher scores. I will take stability over high benchmark scores, but will take noticeable speed increase over a little stability if that makes sense.
Quadrant is too overrated as a benchmark. Stick to a reliable & stable build

So hey all, I am new here so bear with me. I have been on Android for about a year and am finally ready to root and run a rom. Started out with a Samsung Fascinate which got traded for a Droid X and that got replaced with a Droid X2. Having some small issues with the DX2, and since I need to factory reset I figured I would go ahead and try to root and run a rom...
So my question is being a complete noob would I be better with CM7 or Miui. Originally on the DX I looked into Miui and really liked how it looked and really wanted it and did a lot of research on it, but before I could try it I had to send back my DX and they replaced it with a brand new DX2 in the box. Then looking into it I noticed that Miui was not available for the DX2, so I just gave up and stayed put.
Recently reading thru the forums I see Miui is available now for the DX2, but I also was looking into CM7 which also looks really nice. I was wondering would either of them be easier for a noob? (i.e. install and post install customization) I have read up on both not having functional FM radio and HDMI, which are not big deals because I rarely use either... but are there any other big problems with either of these roms that would make a noobie like myself steer clear from them and is one of them faster than the other? I also looked into eclipse and not sure if that is something I should consider. Are there any major issues with eclipse and is it more stable than the other two? Honestly right now I am just trying to figure out where to start. I want to do something, but also want the easiest route so that I do not brick my phone as my wife would probably kill me, haha.
There is just so much info out there, I really don't know where to start. I know you guys probably get these questions all the time, but I could not find a specific thread that talked about just these two (or three) roms specifically for the DX2. I have been trying for the past month or two to research this stuff, and I have learned a lot, but I need a little help to push me in the right direction...
Oh, and if you couldn't guess I am on stock GB 2.3.4 unrooted...

Definitely recommend eclipse for starting out.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Well Eclipse is currently based on Android 2.3.5, which means if you decided on that ROM, you would have to update to 2.3.5 then flash the ROM. Then if you ever wanted to switch to a different ROM, you would have to go through the process of SBF'ing back to Android 2.3.4 since all other ROMs are 2.3.4 based. However, Eclipse is the most stable as was mentioned already. Now between CM7 and MIUI, both are great ROMs. MIUI has some issues with audio and video in some scenarios but still works well. Flashing ROMs isnt that hard so if you have the time, try them all out. Just have all the files ready to restore your phone back to health in case something goes wrong.
One other thing to think about between Eclipse (which is stable and the upcoming 2.0.4 release is really stable and fast) and CM7/MIUI is HDMI.
Eclipse still can output HDMI since it still has some of the BLUR components in it.
CM7/MIUI are both compiled from AOSP components and have ALL of the BLUR components removed, hence no HDMI.
So, if you use HDMI and it's deal-breaker for you, then Eclipse is definitely the way you want to go. But, stability is also nice thing for Eclipse.
I see the stability of the ROMs as follows with the most stable listed first:
Eclipse 2.0.X
CM7 Beta
MIUI
CM9 (not released yet but it has Ice Cream Sandwich)
I was on Eclipse 2.0.3, then went to CM7 and stayed there for awhile. Then, I got onto the Eclipse beta team and started testing 2.0.4. The latest 2.0.4 is the most stable I've seen Eclipse, after a few minor issues, but that's why were were beta testing it. Definitely, I'm sticking with Eclipse.
One thing I've noticed, no matter how hard you try to leave Eclipse, I'm always noticing that people keep coming back to it. That alone should tell you how great a ROM it really is.
Thanks everyone. Seems like maybe I should try out Eclipse first, which is fine. I do want the most stable rom when it comes to my first time... then if I am feeling adventurous later I can try out the others. I will go do a search and hopefully can find a post that lets me know everything I need to do in one post. Thanks again for all the help, if anyone else wants to chime in, please do, I am open to any and all suggestions!

Motcher has given a step-by-step explanation on how to get Eclipse 2.0.3 up and running. Once you have that, then when Eclipse 2.0.4 goes public, you'll already be set to flash it.
Eclipse 2.0.3 is here -> http://www.eclipserom.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=11
Both of these links go to the Eclipse forums where Nitro posts all his releases now.

Lucky for you, motcher created this sticky in the Development forum here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391824
[REF]How to go from any 2.3.4 stock/custom rom to any 2.3.5 (412) based custom rom
It has all the instructions you need in one place , it is all very easy also , don't be afraid of bricking your x2
We have this little thing called sbf, as long as you have a computer you will be able to bring you phone back from any "bricked" state if any problems happen.
just stay away from modifying any boot partitions or anything like that. Stick to basics like flashing roms and tweaks/mods/scripts that are found here in the x2 forum and you won't ever hard brick your x2 to the point of no return lol
if you are ever unsure about what exactly a mod/tweak/script/ROM/hack does to your phone then just ask before doing it, trust me tho, sbf is freaking great, so many times I've gotten "bricked" at the Motorola dual core splash screen and a quick sbf flash brings it right back...
And in case you didn't notice, I recommend eclipse enjoy, happy flashing, and welcome

Thanks so much for the info! I was out searching and wanted to ask if there was a specific link I could get that I could trust, but I didn't want to bother you all as I am sure you get these same questions over and over again. So thank you so much for passing that along... such a huge help and I am gonna attempt it here in a few moments...
Yeah, I have read a lot about sbf'ing and some people still act like I should be worried about bricking my phone, but I have also read other places where people have stated they have yet to see a phone they couldn't get back. So I am gonna try this, and just follow it step by step so I don't screw anything up! Will let you all know how it goes. Again, I can't thank everyone enough for all the great info!!

Yea
I haven't seen anyone truly hard brick an x2
just stay away.from the mounts& storage options in BSR , and I think the only things you should touch in the advanced menu in BSR is wipe dalvik cache and battery stats...don't mess with anything else and you will be just fine brotha
Also, if there is anything you are to "embarrassed" to ask on the forum, then just shoot someone a private message my pm inbox is always open
And yes, when rooted and you are doing hacks and tweaks and such, you always have the risk of something going wrong, but like I said, never seen a truly hard bricked x2 that couldn't be fixed via sbf, ...you really gotta kinda be TRYING to brick for that to happen lol

Okay one quick question. On the link you provided the very fist download, RSD lite is not available. When you go to download it you get "Such file does not exist or it has been removed for infringement of copyrights." I went into the eclipse forum and there is mention of it being updated, but that is all I can find. Do you know where else I could get this file?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22117008&postcount=135
Someone else asked same question other day
that link shows my response
Also,
U said you were on stock 2.3.4 right?
you won't need to sbf if you are, just install the 2.3.5 update zip
Then root with zergrush and good to go
Unless you are just getting everything set up for just in case you need to sbf...which is a great idea also
Good luck

Yes, thats exactly what I was doing. I wanted to make sure I had everything just in case something went wrong. Just figured it would be good to have everything all set But thanks again... much appreciation!
Miui is my rom of choice when it's in full release candidate polish, and maybe eventually Ace's Miui4DX2 will get there. In the meantime, there's a battery-eating wakelock issue, app-by-app sound issues (sound sometimes just doesn't work), and some kind of rendering issue that slows Netflix/certain games/MX Video and various other media apps to a 1 frame per minute crawl. There's also an issue where wifi drops out periodically and doesn't reconnect unless you prompt it (or install a service like "Wi Fi Fixer" that toggles it for you).
So until Ace releases a better beta (which could be as soon as tomorrow, or as late as never), I'd count Miui out as a daily driver.
CM7 as a rom is great--not quite as pretty as Miui (and I find Miui eliminates a lot of the sloppiness in pre-ICS Android), but it is rock solid. DZK's build is an almost perfect CM7 build, except it has the same wifi connectivity issue as Ace's Miui. The advantages it offers more than compensate for the annoyance of having to run Wi-fi Fixer and every now and then waiting for wi-fi to reconnect.
I'm running CM7 on my DX2 and am quite happy with it. I'll give Miui another shot if there's another release (and I'm excited to see how DZK's CM9 runs), but CM7 is likely to be the best daily driver for the X2 for at least another month or two
Eclipse is Blur based (so it has the advantage of functional HDMI), but suffers from the slowdowns/choppiness/audio tearing when multitasking we all know Blur brings. Nitro did a good job of cutting Blur's visual crap out, and he built in a few useful scripts.
Eclipse is definitely better than stock, but if you're gonna go through the trouble of rooting and rom-ing, I'd go with CM7. There's also the issue jsgraphicart mentioned about 2.3.5 vs 2.3.4 requiring a couple extra SBFs if you ever want to switch to something else.

Well hrmm, now you got me thinking about CM7 again, lol. I am in the process of downloading the Eclipse files and maybe I will look into CM7 some more before I proceed. Honestly, I am not at all concerned with the HDMI issue, as I rarely use it... but with that being said can you tell me any more issues with CM7 that would turn off a user from making it their daily rom? if no HDMI is the only issue, that is not a deal breaker for me...

I had issues with apps sometimes hanging and having to kill them. Also, Super User would sometimes forget an app already had the permissions to run as root. Sometimes, I'd have to go into the application manager and tell it to stop the application and try again and then it would get the SU permissions.
With Eclipse, I've have never had this problem. Again, it just shows how Eclipse is much more stable.
As it is, I don't know how much farther Dragonzkiller will stick with CM7 since he's working on CM9 right now. He's been so busy trying to get CM9 out that any more development/enhancing of CM7 and curing the SU and hanging process issues seems to have stopped at this point. But, not pointing the blame at DKZ as he's one busy dude with CM9.
However, Nitro is constantly busy working on Eclipse and not just for the X2. He also does it for the Bionic, RAZR, Galaxy Nexus, and Droid Charge. I don't know how he does it!
Great points. Thanks for the info. I tried to thank your post, but being new I did not know I was limited to 8 thanks per day, lol. But I wanted to let you know I appreciated the feedback!
You must already be on GB and have recovery installed. If you are on HC you must follow the directions in the forum on how to downgrade to GB
Use kevinrocksman's awesome tool to get to HC from GB(or downgrade from HC to GB, and many other convenient tools). He makes it easy for you

I have included the KB from CM7 but the keys are pretty small so I also included the GB KB,, the keys are small as well but you can make them bigger in settings

A few people have PM'ed me asking about donating. Well, I dont/wont ever ask for donations and honestly I prefer to NOT get donations. I do this work first and for most for me(Yeah I'm a selfish bastard) so I can learn more, so I can make my device the way I want my device, I just decide to share what I make for myself instead of keeping it for myself (I'm selfish, not greedy) and I feel if people start donating they might get more demanding and feel more entitled so I'd rather just skip all of that potential drama. When it comes to requesting things in this rom, I will put them in IF it's something I would use myself. If it's not, then I most likely wont add it. So please dont donate to me, If you want to do some good instead of donating to me, donate to a worthy charity instead! Thank you all for using my rom!
Awesome!

So while I have the rom deodexing(it takes a while) I've been playing with the stock rom, deleteing crap and seeing what will break, also trying to add in some AOSP elements... that way when it is deodexing then I know exactly what I can remove and/or replace
removed a ****load of bloat and useless htc apps
rosie is gone, all the rosie widgets are gone, I have the free version of ADW, Stock GB browser and 3D Gallery all working, the stock calculator is working, GB KB included, The stock Calendar, contacts, camera or mms didnt work but I can try to tinker with them later
but the biggest one so far is I got rid of the Sense lock screen and have the stock GB one So much easier to do on GB than HC!
I might have a preview release up in a few hours
pretty cool man. but i think it would probably be pretty easy to actually build cm7 for the view. I believe the flyer has it going.

I asked the guy who did the Flyer CM rom to throw us Viewers a bone and port his Flyer version to the View. He said he might make it a weekend project but not promising anything.
If interested run over to his thread and pm the dev (very nicely) that you heard a rumor he might consider doing a View port and you just wanted to support the idea.
Maybe a little future fan influence will motivate him

Also check out the Q & A thread. There is a Chinese GB RUU out that has full pen support for the Flyer. May be some goodies to grab there.

Posted a preview release.. let me know what issues you guys find..
I noticed the market wasnt updating to the Play Store.. I'll include the updated APK in the next release but until then you can just install this and it will overwrite the market with playstore. No need to push it, just install it like you would any side loaded apk
http://d-h.st/aQQ
Another issue I found was sometimes the unlock slider disappears when you wake the device (just the left one though) but if you swipe as if it was there it unlocks. I'll have to look into that

Sounds great I may hold off on testing until it's done. Just hard bricked my E4GT this morning and I'm a bit gun shy.
Never hard bricked a phone before. Accidentally flashed an AOSP ICS rom over an ICS kernel. Apparently this is huge no no. Complete blue light of death hard brick. Thank god for insurance.
Just installed. Testing now. I'll edit in problems as necessary.
First thing I noticed is that the Setup Wizard force closes if I try to change the time settings. I can change the time settings just fine through the regular settings, though.
The keyboard wouldn't pop up at first for whatever reason. A reboot fixed it, though.
In the settings, the right side of the check boxes are cut off.
Also, the mobile signal level icon still shows up, even though I downloaded the WiFi only ROM. I'm guessing this is just an issue with theming for now, though.

The first issue I mentioned in the OP. The keyboard popped up fine for me the first time. The check boxes I noticed and will look into. And the signal meter will always be there even if its just wifi. But you'll see its a empty signal. The only difference is hc puts a red x through it.

Agreed. So far, it's definitely smooth, and just has those minor issues. I think this will do just fine until we get ICS (though I'll go over to an AOSP GB ROM if we get one). I like it better than Honeycomb already, even if it is an older system.

Sounds good.
Now I know opinions are like a**holes.... everybody has one, but lets see if we can cut through the BS and get real answers with real experiences.
And I also know there are always threads like this coming up but I have not found an answer searching that I like.
Now for my story, I have a Xoom and and EVO that I have been using for quite some time now and am personally good with ROMs that have bugs and ROMS that are experimental, but my question has to do with my girlfriends Vibrant. I have had her on the team whiskey roms in the past with pretty good luck but right now I am just looking for the most stable and non glitchy ROM out there, I know there has to be one that people are using for daily drivers without bugs and whatnot with minimal upkeep that she can use and not get mad at me for something not working right
I know the ICS roms out now are not the answer as there is just too much unknown right now to create a stable release with no bugs and EVERYTHING working so can someone point me to a couple ROMS to try that advertise everything working the way it should (with the exception of going back to stock and anything with touchwiz)? Thanks in advance.
Fishman's Bionix-V Mod. He's done you the service of baking an Odin flashable file for it too making it really quick to swap over and be rooted up and ready to roll.
If not his maybe give one of Moped Ryder's ROMs a go. I only lean on Fishman's because I run "stock" Bionix-V and it's by far my favorite for a flash it and forget it kind of ROM (although I like tinkering with different kernels). Fishman's comes with Bali's UV kernel so it's good to go for a daily driver out of the box.
Fishman's Bionix Mod for me too. It's very stable, great battery life (for me), GPS locks in a few seconds and has T-Mobile WiFi calling which for me is important.
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441976
I know you said no ICS but passion v13.1 is very stable. I ran it for 3 months no issues before I switched for something with more customization available.

You can check Voodoo in CWR. When you boot into Recovery there's an option for 'voodoo' and in there you can check all of that. If you're running Fishman's Bionix Mod it should already be enabled by default though.
Another thing you can try is use something like the Spare Parts app, or go into the Display option in Settings and turn all the animations to Fast. That won't necessarily help with app scrolling, but it makes the overall feel of the ROM "snappier".
I also added the following line to my local.prop file in the data directory (/data/local.prop):

Check XDA and you can read a little bit that it helps with the redraw of the homescreen, and I noticed a difference. But use something like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer (my fav) and you can make those changes to the file and then reboot.
If you do make that change, keep in mind that using something like Bladebuddy will overwrite anything you add.
