have you tried going into the MOUNT sub-menu and trying to mount the data partition?
yeah found out I had to go to the older 2.0. RC release to get it to work.

Oh haha I assumed that was the version everyone was running with it. I never updated it once they released it, it was the most rock solid version they had out at that time. Glad you figured it out sir

im getting an errow when trying to install a backup and i read that it can probably be fixed if i install the latest version of clockwork. i currently cant get past the htc boot screen so is there a way to install the latest .img from recovery? im running 3.0.2.4 and have the image for 5.0.2.1 just not sure how to install from recovery.
and fyi. the error i am getting is "Error while formatting /system!"
also i get the same erro when trying to install older backups as well. so i know its not just a problem with my latest backup.
and when clockwork first opens i get
E: cant mount /cache/recovery/command
E: cant mount /cache/recovery/log
E: cant open /cache/recovery/log
E: cant mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: cant open /cache/recovery/last_log

thank you! thats what i was lookin for! now i just need to get it onto my SD card... the mount option in CW is not working so guess ill have to try and find my little SD card adaptor..
You could do it through fastboot.
I'm a relative noob with just enough luck and knowledge to be very dangerous to a working evo 4g lte.
I'm s-on, unlocked, hboot 1.19, twrp 2.4.4.0. Can not locate recovery image file. Uncertain of root status with superSU 1.25.
I was attempting to update rom to OMJ Aroma v3.4 from stock 4.1.1. Seemed the rom was going to work, then started rebooting at splash screen
Excessive tinkering now leaves me in need of help from you guys.
EDIT: While in TWRP, hit "factory reset" and "wipe data" under the pretense of making a clean install. I suppose that would explain why i have no OS. Additionally, attempts at installing one now fail due to "unable to mount /sd card" ??
I'm thoroughly lost at this point.
What do I need to do to get an OS working and end the boot loop?
Download a Rom and install it with twrp. Wipe caches first though.
Otherwise restore the backup you first made.
Worst case you may have to transfer them over from a computer now.

Part of your problem is that you're S-on. You either need to fastboot flash the kernel or flash a ROM that has a kernel installer for S-on users.

I have attempted to install the OMJ ROM that is on my external sd through TWRP. I select the zip, it loads the optional mod selections, and then begins the extract/install process. However, it reboots to the htc splash screen with red dev warning, holds there a moment, then reboots again to TWRP.

Do you mean restore through TWRP? No restore files show up when using the Restore function in TWRP.
While I am able to explore the external storage in TWRP (sdcard, sdcard2, etc) I am unable to select "use internal storage". I don't know if it is relevant, but there is a back up copy of the TWRP backups on the external sdcard. But, I haven't found a way to make TWRP go to them.
I've found the following in the TWRP log:

E:Unable to recreate android secure folder.
E:Unable to mount '/sdcard'
E:Unable to mount '/sdcard'

MeanBean or ViperROM. I've used both Just make sure you read the OP for whichever ROM you decide to use so you'll understand how the kernel installer works.

Thank you for the recommendation. I am up and running once again!
I downloaded the MeanBean and then copied the files to the external directory still accessible by recovery. I ran the install from TWRP and the process seemed to be working properly. From the directions I knew an additional install would be needed.
Even so, i didn't get the impression it was going to properly install. It showed an error mounting internal memory during the process and I began searching for additional remedies...
Then... the system rebooted, and there was the MeanScreen...
Thank you again.
And now, i'll be researching the s-off options. Well, maybe after I relax a bit after the near brick.

Not sure why yet, but my 4g speeds seem to increased also. Perhaps clearing out some of the background processes helped.

If you are s-on flash meanbean or viper, but first try to downgrade twrp, what rom are you trying to install and what version of twrp are you using?
Sent from my Evo 4G LTE
I apparently did a very dumb thing by trying to flash PatchedMonkey through Flash Image GUI on my rooted s-on Evo LTE. Now it is stuck in permanent bootloops and I have to boot into recovery just to get it to stay off. I have tried flashing ROMs like SuperJelly and Sharkie ROM s-on and nothing has helped. I have also tried flashing komodo s-on and that didn't work either. Finally, on my Mac, I have tried to fastboot an RUU but I don't think it's worked because when I was last on a working ROM (CM10.1 7/24 nightly) I unchecked USB debugging. So does anyone have any other ideas as to how I might get this thing working again? Thanks in advance :fingers-crossed:
If you have a backup-and you should-restore it from recovery. Take a look at the link in my sig-it has some useful information in it that may be beneficial to you. If you don't have a backup to restore, try flashing the latest version of MeanBean. Make sure you follow the instructions in the OP so that you flash it correctly so that the kernel gets installed. Also, keep in mind that the Patch Monkey kernel is a 3.4 kernel, whereas Komodo is a 3.0 kernel, and they aren't interchangeable with one another.

I did have a backup and tried to restore it but it did not work. I don't think the kernel from the backup restores when you are s-on. I am going to try to download mean bean and see if that works. My backup got wiped though when I tried to factory reset so I can't try it again. Looks like I'm SOL. Anyone know how much they charge to replace a "lost" Evo LTE?

$150 through Asurion. Just flash MeanBean & be done with it. Even if you were to get a replacement (and I don't recommend going about it the way you are suggesting), you'd have a phone that's unrooted & S-on, so you'd be back at square one.

It sounds like the kernel didn't install, or you didn't wipe properly in recovery prior to flashing. Make sure you read the instructions in the MeanBean thread regarding flashing while S-on. I believe you have to flash the ROM twice, but read the instructions to be sure.

It mentions using TWRP 2.4.1.0 but I'm not sure how to downgrade to that. I'm wiping Dalvik Cache, Cache, Data and System twice before every flash. I don't see an option to factory reset that is mentioned in the thread in TWRP 2.5.0.0 that I'm using.

Go to the Advanced Wipe option, and check Dalvik cache, cache, system and data, then wipe. No need to downgrade.
Make sure you read the instructions for S-on ROM installation. Mike's instructions say to flash the ROM zip, and once you see the words "Look!" appear, go to the reboot menu and choose to reboot the system. The ROM will initially boot, then reboot to recovery. Flash the ROM zip again, then reboot the system. You should be good to go then.
Ok that's exactly what I've been doing. Those are the 4 things that I listed that I wipe every time I flash but I shall try it again
This is what it said after I checked Dalvik cache, cache, system and data and wiped: Formatting Cache using mke2fs... Done. Formatting Data using mke2fs... Done. Formatting System using mke2fs.... Done. Updating partition details..... E:Unable to mout '/sdcard' E:Unable to mout '/sdcard' E:Unable to mout '/sdcard' E:Unable to mount internal storage.
When I finally flash everything seems to go well with what it says until the end where I get: E:Unable to mout '/sdcard' E:Unable to mout '/sdcard' E:Unable to mout '/sdcard'
And finally I'm back into the bootloops that I've been trying so desperately to escape

Okay. Put a copy of MeanBean on your computer, then plug your phone up to your computer. You can mount USB storage via recovery. You can then format your internal storage. Remember it's formatted FAT32.

Sounds like you are still s-on. You need to fastboot flash the boot image after installing a ROM. See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2570888.

To fix the internal storage, try wiping Internal SD via TWRP, if that doesn't work, see if you can mount it to a PC and format it, if that doesn't so it, you'll probably need to RUU your phone to repair the filesystem.
As for the other issue, as pointed out, need to flash the kernel separately if you're s-on.
i keep getting failed to mount 'cache' (operation not supported on transport endpoint)
the same happens if i try to convert data partition. tried a number of twrp but i get this error
im on the official TWRP with f2fs support provided by thestrix
i currently have lineageOS with radon kernel, anyone can help? i can format it back to ext4 without any prob but when i convert to f2fs, it actually converts it but fails to mount etc.
