You want to use a usb modem stick? Asked that b4. It seems impossible. It would be great though. If someone could dump or cook a rom from the 3g version to detect the USB modem in the wifi version, I would get rid off my cradlepoint router.

@peare: Are you referring to this thread? If so what was the outcome? The thread appears to have run dry with a request for dmesg. I suspect there is a similar problem with the phone tether needing an NDIS driver, I wonder if these could be installed on a rooted device without cooking the ROM?
It shouldnt be that difficult i suppose. I dont know linux, so i cant say anything. We need a line in wireless settings to point us to a APN. 3g model has a modem installed, I am inserting the modem externally. So whats the big deal? Some drivers and an application should do that for us.
I'm really struggling here my laptop has no wifi internet and I need to USB teather I need the driver for that damn phone didn't have CD and I'm on XP still please help me with link I be most thankful

Just enable USB-Tethering on your phone. After some time you should be able to find a device named 'SAMSUNG Mobile USB Remote NDIS Network Device' in the device manager of your PC. You should then be able to use the phones data connection from your PC.
Thanks again for some reason just says Android Samsung then I got kies n it found it then when I teather blue screen even more problems now n kies don't even connect at least my mobiles running smooth

for those with litening rom or anyone else, when I try to tether my telstra internet from my mobile on my pc i get the message that there has been a problem installing the device, and when i look at device manager is says:
"SAMSUNG Mobile USB Remote NDIS Network Device #2" it has a yellow exclamation point symbol next to it and says "device cannot start"
anyone know how to fix this issue?
is it just simply a matter of trying to find a driver?
I don't think the error you get is related to the ROM but I might be wrong. I have attached two screenshots of my USB driver, maybe this helps.
I do not have Kies installed as I don't use it. I use only the USB drivers provided by SamHaLeKe which you can find here.

I don't understand you. The only way to share Internet connection is via usb, bluetooth or wifi tethering.

the prb is that how to use it as a modem not for sharing internet no i mean i want to have two connections independent themselves one connection on laptop and another connection on my phone as all mobiles in the world can do it that's not a miracle,so helping me experters,thanks alot.

it works as a modem and you can acces internet connection on your laptop via mobile
1 install pda net on pc
2 install software for your laptop from their site
3 connect mobile to pc
4 select usb tethering(make sure tethering is on on your mobile)

USB tethering can be done without that app also.

i want to see a modem installed on my pc device manager so i can control of detailed information to connect to access point from my computer.
In other words,
i want to access internet over usb cable by using phone as 3g modem when removing (Data Enabled) option , because it's assumed that two connection establised one on phone and the other one on pc.
This feature has been found in all nokia phones and samsung mobiles
i do that in acer liquid e special ferrari edition with froyo android 2.2 ...thanks in advance

Then use the USB tethering option, as this uses the mobile 3G internet to access the WHOLE internet. Make sure all other connections are turned off on your PC.
I mean that when i removed the sign from Data Enabled, Internet connected and establish on my laptop (surfing,browsing and downloading is ok) from Acer Liquid E Special Ferrari Edition with Froyo Android v2.2...Why???

It is the same.
Computer uses the mobile(via USB cable) to connect to 3G Internet. Mobile internet is used. You need to enable the data in Android to use the internet.
i found this article
until they provide modem driver for android phone, especially sony xperia, then they will be impossible to make your phone as a modem and bridging the connection (eg: dial from your pc using *99#). right now the only option is to share your already connected internet by your phone with a pc, which means phone act as a router.
does it means that i can't use my mobile as a dongle modem???

just forget it brov... it cant be used except yhu use usb tethering!!! its quite ok having yur phone as a modem but not possible in dis case!

So Why I can do this in Acer Liquid E with Android Froyo v2.2 ???
I want to see a modem installed in pc device manager only that.
and if the problem from manufacture itself so i'll sell this mobile
but if the prb from the OS, so Can Anyone help me to get froyo installed on this mobile???
usb tethering is the reason why modem drivers are not there.. with earlier phones from sony i have used phone modem using pc suite..
So Could you help me plz???

i don't get why you do not want to use tethering?
you can set it up as any other network in windows.. never tried in ubuntu though

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 GT5110 running an Jellybean 4.11 and I try to connet a 3g dongle HUAWEI E1750 to it. The PPPwidget tells me sometimes that I does not have root access and sometimes that It can't find driver. Can anyone suggest a solution, like installing kernel drivers directly on android and not use PPPwidget. I knao that once thsi si done I will need an app to create and APN and connect to my ISP via the 3g dongle. THX
I have s3 i9300 phone.it worked fine.but now there's wifi connecting problem.in my room has strong signal connection but my s3 not connected when I go to the near router then connect automatically.

Sounds like an hardware issue. But lets try some of there fixes first.
It might be the Router as mine has done this to me before. Unplug it, count to 30 and plug it back in.
If not the router, I would try flashing the latest stock ROM using Odin to see if it fixes it first.
1. Download Odin 3.07 (i like this version the best)
2. then go to Sammobile.com and make an account and download the stock ROM for it. Go for the firmware section and get your ROM. Get the latest versions.
3. FLASH.
If that doesn't work, I would look at it as having some form of hardware issues.
My bluetooh signal works fine (wifi & bluetooh chip is one chip as I heard in s3)
