About Galaxy S 3

Hello everybody.
I used to own a Sony Xperia P, too bad it got bricked and I'm looking forward on getting a Galaxy S3 i9300.
Can anyone please tell me about it's support. I mean let's say I want to install CM ROMS, is it widely supported on by the community?
On Xperia P forum we only had CM9 and CM10 is almost a dream to have, if any one could give me a clue about it I really appreciate it
So far I'm interested in building a custom kernel based on Samsung source code (if I got this device)
I'm not into Rom development, was just wondering about CM support for this device in-case I wanted to change the installed ROM.
I appreciate any hint provided
Best Regards.
You could try the search function You Will find that the s3 development community is very vivid. Top of the line development/modding/tweaking and support. You have cm9, cm10 plus lots of different kang projects with great og support
spilled from my gt-9300 SuperNexus

I searched the forum but maybe I wasn't clear enough in my first post.
I don't really care about themes, mods and stuff. I prefer only installing CM roms for a change, I found that CM10 reached Stable, and CM10.1 is in the works from this website: http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
Just wanted to be sure from users who already on this device just to be sure

In the end I might get I9300 is the only one available where I live.
I guess I will stick with I9300 if I'm able to get it.

Well my friend I'm not thinking of leaving Xperia Phones development since Sony is making it easier for developers
For sure I will stick around with developing for Xperia phones

Looking for a good ROM for my NOTE 2

I run Slimkat which is a very stable, awesome Kitkat ROM. Been on it since early December. I was on Beans for months and it was great, but wanted to go Kitkat. Slimkat is very stable and it flies. Check out the thread in the Android Development thread. Download and installation instructions are clear.
All the roms are good, members are expected to try them all and make their own determinations as to what is best.
As XDA is not a support site, members are encouraged to read and review all material in the development sections to learn about which rom suits them.

There will be no 4.4 official stock for galaxy s3, never, ever.
If you need 4.4.4 like CM go to cyanogenmod site and follow the steps (easy peasy installation).
It's true, that iam a newbie in Android's world.
I own samsung s3 since 2 months & it's my first android experience.
That's why i need a little explanation
why official stock rom for version 4.4.4. isn't available for our phones.
When Win XP has arrived , it was for all PCs, isn't it ?

That is samsungs decision, after some time they stop the development for the phone, and it's been 2 years now with s3, from ics to jelly bean, and the time has come and development is stopped.
But, you have samsung kitkat ports here on xda under android development, but, since they are unofficial there might be some bugs if you don't pair them with a good kernel.
Since you are new, i suggest you to take a break and read, read all the FAQ, read every info, read about EFS backup (very important) and then, when you have all the information you need, go with rom flashing etc.
And listen to me, if you won't read and inform yourself you will mess something up and come back here to ask for help, and first response you will get is read before doing anything.
Happy readin, flashing, cheers
In this case here is my next question
On the horizon appears the next version - Android 5.0
If i understand correctly, that means once again Android x.x will not be made available for our phones and we will need to get again some custom roms, aren't we ?

Shall I put on a custom ROM?

Hello dear Elephants, I'm really honoured to belong here because of my new Elephone S8. I really love the hardware but software is really buggy. So, referring to https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-s8/development/rom-elephone-s8-15-10-eragon-1-0-t3689359, is that a good idea to replace the firmware? If some of you is using this ROM, you can also provide me the pros and cons. Many thanks in advance!
If you're familiar with such things, going from stock to custom and back is pretty simple. Why not just give it a test drive?
I'm not so familiar. I've been flashing lots of ROMs in my lifetime but not into this particular device. Which method do I use to flash firmware?
Will I die, if I flash the Eragon ROM from Elephone's firmware update section?
If you're going to run a custom ROM, spending a couple of hours reading through the thread for that ROM might be worth your time, as it will contain the answers to many of your questions and possibly save you from some future troubles.
Thanks! Will do as you say.
I used eragon rom for a few months but the developer has withdrawn from the project and the latest version is not really stable. I had some network problems and some weeks ago I got problems with massive battery drain of about 15% per hour without any heavy usage. The only thing that helped was to go back to stock. Since then I'm on stock rom again and everything is fine now. I don't experience any major differences in performance.
Anyway I hope the developer will continue his work on the S8 and eragon rom in the future, at least if android 8 will be released.
How to revert back to Stock Rom? (From Eragon)

You can download the latest stock version here:
https://bbs.elephone.hk/forum.php?m...ra=page=1&filter=typeid&typeid=151&typeid=151
Unpack the rar file and load the scatter file with flashtool. Be careful which boxes are checked in the list. I accidently deleted all data (including external memory) from the phone because this option was checked by default!
Edit: I have corrected the link above, the first one did not work.
You can also download on Mega with the following link:
