Have 3 fascinates; all on ICS; gps and compass work fine.
Have tried Helly bean, steve's aokp, jt's and sbrissens jb roms.
( with and without devil kernel )
The compass seems to be off by about 160 to 180 degrees.Have attempted to
calibrate many times. Also, the gps, while locks on ok, a lot of the time its
off by a couple of city blocks.
I recall the same problem with initial ICS roms, but eventually got fixed.
Any JB roms have 'fully' working GPS and compass ?
Edit on 8/8/12
JT posted a test kernel over on rootzwiki for JB cm10 roms. Compass_OldGCC.zip .
Testing now but seems to fix both the compass and GPS problems.
thanks.

I sincerely love the 2.1, and i really appreciate the work and effort the dev´s are putting into the rom´s that are available free of charge.
But i cant find a rom that has working GPS on/off feature, everyone i tryed so far requires phone reboot..
so i wonder, why is it so hard to enable GPS without reboot?
and are there rom´s that have working GPS?
i tryed to raise the issue in some of the rom specific forums, but it appears to be a less prioritized bug..
For me I found that re-flashing the latest radio rom after installing 2.1 got GPS working as it should do.
apart from what klutsh said (which i can't reproduce btw), there is only one kernel available that works with the 2.1 leaks, and that kernel has a bad gps implementation.
androbin beta r2
with androbin beta r2 i use gps and work very good, without problem.
fix is quick, stability ok.
last week i try it with ndrive, cca 160km trip, without problem.
Yip I can confirm Switch on your gps, and wifi (just for the hell of it, not too sure about this part) reboot into recovery, flash the latest radio, reboot and all should be well.
I can confirm the opposite; switching on GPS, wifi and bluetooth, flashed new radio and booted up the phone.
turned off gps and rebooted, then enabled gps again (without restart).
still no gps reception.
using villain3.4 atm, but this has been persistant thruout all tested 2.1 roms.
None of the Villain Roms worked ever with GPS for me, but BeHero+ V1.2 is the first 2.1 ROM where it always does, and it even to a very fast GPS fix!
im trying androbin atm, havent yet gone outside (still downloading my apps over wifi), so i cant say if it works or not.
but i really think the devs should pool their resources/projects instead of releasing 15+ similar roms
I've never had a problem with GPS - used Navigator to get me home with voice navigation the other day (i knew the route but still) it was awesome
I would also like to know the definitive answer. All ROM's released are with working hardware lists including of GPS and no mention of prossibility of bugs but going through the replies, it seems like mixed reactions.
1) ON/OFF reboot bug?
2) Sleep mode bug with any Radio?
3) As quick fix as in 1.5?
4) Not inconsistent ie fixed once but struggle next time?
Kendong2's reply seems to suggest NO. Is it ?
Hi everyone,
I can't quite understand, is there a 2.3 rom for vibrant with a completely working gps?
As far as I can see all 2.3 roms for vibrant are either MIUI based or CM7 roms, is that correct? Is either one of those have working GPS?
Thanks alot!
Not all gb roms are based on cm7, look for roms with jvr jvq jvp in the title, they're samsung based...
No, gb roms do not have good gps yet, its halfassed on all of em
Sent from a cell tower to the XDA server to you.
GPS is screwed up for me but I only care about Google+ and Google Navigation, and they work perfectly in the latest CM7 Nightly. Unfortunately, third party GPS apps don't get a lock surprisingly...
ok just wanted to straighten this up really quick.
Miui and trigger 2.3 are CM7 based
JVP/JVR/JVQ are Samsung based, built off the I9000 gingerbread release I believe.
the gps works fine for the most part if you boot the phone with gps enabled.
i run miui and experience quick locks and actually very good accuracy using the 1.4 GPS fix for CM7 based roms found under the development section.
only downside is and this is with both samsung and CM7 based roms, you have to enable gps and reboot with it enabled to get the drivers to function correctly. until (if ever) Samsung releases gingerbread for the non 4G Vibrant we will never have fully functioning gps on 2.3
Or you can use an external bluetooth gps receiver, it will work fine, if not better.
I have been using the latest CM7 stable and the GPS just does not work. Previously, I used MIUI and I used a handful of their releases. Only one of the ROMs had working GPS.
Finally got tired of not having a fast, accurate GPS. I Heimdall'd back to stock, updated to stock 2.2 using Samsung Kies and GPS still does not work.
I am beside myself. I need a working and accurate GPS. I have tried all the patches, zip files, fixes and just cannot locate a combanation that work for me.
Is there a concensus ROM with fast and accurate GPS?
I'v been running Toxic8 with great results so far.
Pretty much all Froyo ROMs have working, accurate GPS. At least, as accurate as the Vibrant is capable of. Vibrant GPS could best be described as "modest".
There are some tweaks you can use to try to improve your lock. Give AngryGPS a try and see if it can lock on.
I use MIUI, and I run AngryGPS before using my Navigation. Works like a charm and gets a good, strong lock.

If you flashed to stock 2.2 and your GPS does not work, you have something else that is wrong. JI6 had working GPS out of the box. Use LBSTestMode or Angry GPS to do some diagnostics.
I am running Trigger 08/03 which runs Android 2.3.5
GPS works perfectly
on the version Trigger 08/22 which followed the GPS didn't work for me.
try bionix
Hi,
Yesterday I flashed CM9 resurrection edition (before that I had a 2.3.5 stock ROM) and GAPPS.
Everything seems to work fine, apart from the GPS function...
In 2 times I tried, it took my SG2 about 15-20 minutes to lock on to a signal (and after that it was fine...), but in all the other times, it doesn't get a lock on.
I d/l GPS status and GPS Test and I get nothing.
I tried the AGPS patch from here, but nothing seems to work.
I looked all over the net for a solution, but didn't got to anything useful.
Can anyone help?
Try to flash a newer CM9 Nightly. Many improvements have been committed since last resurection release.

I read GPS fix installs tons of spam and push ads. I prefer avoid it.
Any other idea?
Flash latest nightly. The latest commit found below fixes your problem

I've tried out Omega 43.1 this weekend, and discovered that its gps module doesn't seem to use GLONASS satellites. Using a gps test app, I can see glonass satellites for a split second, but they disappear immediately.
I've installed the gps fix mod from the Omega faq, to no avail.
ARHD does use GLONASS satellites normally, you can see those in a gps test app all the time.
Using GLONASS satellites improves the accuracy of gps a bit, therefore it would be a desirable feature for Omega Roms as well.
Ideas, anyone?
[Update]
I've installed the apgs fix from this thread. That seems to have helped. I'm seeing a few GLONASS satellites now. Unfortunately, I've installed the perseus kernel at the same time. I'm not sure if that contributed to the fix, as well.
I see no difference between either of those roms and it looks like they have the same GPS files .They are built from the same source
Omega 43.1 is old rom .

AW: [Q] Omega Rom - no GLONASS?
Hmm, I'm not sure if it was the agps fix I installed or the kernel. Anyway, the situation has improved remarkably. I am now seeing many GLONASS satellites. Perhaps it is not related to installing the fix or kernel. Could be the the phone simply isn't downloading agps data for GLONASS satellites. Naturally, it would take a few minutes until the phone sees those, then.
