Auto brightness screen settings - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to modify the minimum auto brightness screen settings. They are fine with sufficient light but in shady and darker enviroment the screen is too dark.
Does anybody know how to do this and have good values for dark(er) enviroments.
Hope to get some usefull feedback, thanks in advance guys

Auto Adjust Screen Power

Is there a way to add the Auto Adjust Screen Power setting to roms that do not have this setting? I would like to use some of these great roms but they are too dim for me. To see what I am talking about, if you have this setting, check mark it and you will see all the apps become very dim and for some reason all the roms that do not have this setting have it have this set by default with no way to uncheck it. It would be great if this could be added to all our roms cause my vision cannot take the strain of the dim screen.
Any devs listening?
I read in another phone thread there was a screen xml that controlled the level of auto brightness and could increase the level over 100% so you could see the screen better in daylight.
So it is possible but I have no skill or clue.

How can I lower the min brightness level

How can I change the brightness levels on the s3? I would like to have a lower brighter level than the minimum level and be able to lower all with the brightness bar. I tried going into framework-res.apk and lowering some values for auto brightness in array.xml but that didn't work. It just gave me a black screen and sent me to the lock screen whenever I tried to adjust the brightness. I know that there are apps that can lower screen brightness but I would just like to do it with the brightness adjuster and save a little memory. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
I found an answer to my question. It involves going into service.jar, system.apk, and SystemUI.apk and making some changes. Found the information in this thread

Although, this thread is for the Samsung Galaxy SL, much of the info appears the same for the S3. Will be testing and updating later
Or u can use "Eyesaver" app its wery nice

You obviously cannot increase the brightness past 100%. if it's set to auto brightness, it is possible (however unlikely) that it's not setting to 100%. I doubt this is the case. But test turning off auto brightness anyway.
Other things you can think about... Black or dark backgrounds make the screen more reflective of light, making it harder to see. Try using Lighter or white themes for maximum visibility.
Again with reflections, you can look out for screen protectors that polarise the light or anti-glare filters etc. This may help. I have never looked for anything like this so I cannot recommend any one in particular.
Short of these few tips, I dont think there is much else that can be done though.,
What about http://goo.gl/IaDVU ? download is empty.
is there any similar ?

These change how auto brightness works. It doesn't actually make the screen brighter. What it can do is increase the sensitivity of the auto brightness, so if you think the screen brightness it chooses (lets pretend 75%) is not bright enough for how light it is outside (2000 lux for example) you can modify the values so 2000 lux = 100%.
So this is only useful if you use auto brightness and auto brigthness has not selected 100% brightness

[Q] How to reduce minimum brightness in CM10?

Hi all,
I frequently use my phone at night in a pitch black room. It is therefore nice to have a very dim screen. The most I can dim it is not enough.
Yes, I know of programs such as ScreenFilter which provide a software overlay of the screen. But, that doesn't help battery life, and the screen is still emitting the same amount of light.
Is there a way to edit some build.prop setting or something to reduce the minimum brightness? I'm on CM10.1 if it matters.
Thank you!
