I want to root and install a custom ROM because I use my phone alot for music now and I would like the beats for all mod. I am also interested in the HQ camera. I like Sense 3.6 how it is. I have not used sense 4.0 and dont know if I need that. I want all bloat removed. One of my main reasons I havent rooted yet is because I dont want to have to redownload all my apps from the store. If I just back up my SD card will I be fine?
I keep coming back to Vigor360 because it does everything you are asking for (-camera) and is smooth/fast. I have tried a lot of ROMs and highly reccomend it. Check out Titanium Backup to backup your stuff before changing ROMs because you'll need to wipe your phone!
I think you can flash/install something separate to upgrade your camera. Not sure.

IMHO, I would go with ViperRez. It has the beats all mod and is debloated. Sense 4 is sooooo smooth on that ROM, and the Venom tweaks give you all the options that give ViperRez an AOSP feel. It should definitely be a top contender for you to try.
Sun's viper kang is really really smooth. I'm running it as my DD for a week and have had no problems. I'm using it De-sensed and I get thirteen hours of life out of my battery. Easily the nicest Rom I've flashed in the past month

I really like HTC texting and I would prefer not to lose that. Where do I go from there?
CounterStrike 2.2
CounterStrike 2.2 is pretty awesome. The most stable senseless Rom (the other ones my rezound has had issues with GPS and Bluetooth consistently working) my S-ON Rezound has experienced. IT has DSP Manager but no beats.
If you like Sense, VIper Rez is super smooth. After I traded my Galaxy Nexus for the Rezound, I had Clean Rom 1.4 DE for a week or two and then Viper Rez became my default ROM for 2 months until CounterStrike. I prefer senseless aesthetics, but Sense can be smoother and has better support for EAS.

CounterShrike is actually an AOSP ROM, not a Senseless ROM. Before we had AOSP, Senseless ROMs were ROMs that had a bunch of stuff stripped from it to make it look like AOSP.
i use rage 1.9 now very snappy
with firefox beta and rebooter
sometimes need to clean the memory cos lags suddenly appear
there a lot of gr8 roms out there
if u have the time try them u will figure more about ur taste
If I get a senseless rom, is the camera going to be bad? One of the main reasons I didnt like using senseless ROMs in the past was the lack of camera support

There is a big difference between senseless ROMs and AOSP-based ROMS:
Senseless ROMS are actually based on the stock Sense ROM, but have many aspects of Sense removed, and are often themed to look like AOSP. These include Adrenaline, NeoMAX, SlimROM / SlimKANG, and CleanROM DE.
AOSP ROMS are based on Google's original Android code, known as AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Most AOSP ROMS are based either on CM (CyanogenMod) which is based on AOSP, or on AOKP (Android Open Kang Project), which, in turn, is based on CM. AOSP ROMs include CounterShrike, AOKP-Neo, Rage, AOKP Nightlies, and Paranoid Android.
Sorry if that was more confusing than helpful...
Now to answer your question, I believe all Senseless ROMs keep the Sense Camera (although they sometimes have the AOSP camera icon and theming), so the camera will be the same as stock. AOSP ROMs have the AOSP camera, which is worse than the Sense camera, but not by that much - the quality depends much more on the phone's hardware than on the camera software.
TLDR - the camera in Senseless ROMs is the same as in Sense ROMs; the camera in AOSP ROMs is a little worse.
CounterShrike is the best one out there. However I recommend 2.1 because I've heard the latest versions have issues with video playback. 2.1 has been running fine on my phone for weeks now. Also, for improving smoothness (and battery life strangely enough - maybe this is due to not constantly ramping up/down the CPU?), use the "performance" governor in performance settings.

There are a couple out there but AmonRa is the most tried and true IMO.
A whole thread about which recovery is the best:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929347
Note in particular all my posts regarding the superiority of TWRP.
Also note that a majority of the posts supporting AR base their arguments on falsehoods (such as that TWRP has bugs/imperfections, that TWRP can't flash VRThemes, or that CWM still has a charging issue), or on nothing at all.

The only reason I stick to Amon over TWRP is compatibility with vrthemes, and it seems like backup and restores are quicker. I don't think one is necessarily better than the other, its all personal preference.

As I said in the post you quoted, TWRP can flash VRThemes. Con's port could't, but FlyHalf's build can.
And I'm not sure about backup / restore, but on my phone, TWRP wipes and flashes much faster than AR.

Hey guys,
This may seem to be a little cliched, but I wanted to flash a really responsive ROM.
I have sony xperia neo V bought about a year and a half back.
I have Cynogenmod 9 flashed
I really think ROMs are subjective, hence I wanted to have my wants ready:-
1. It must be responsive, dialer must be fast. Touchscreen shouldn't lag. ( cynogen9 after some days is unfortunatly sluggish ;( )
2. I dont care about looks. It can be as ugly as possible. I want functionality.
3. HD gaming and all are not needed. I need to play basic games.
4. FM Radio must work. I really miss it in cynogenmod9
5. WiFi, bluetooth, 2g/3g, camera: all must work. I dont want them to get enhanced. Just work.
6. Speed.
7. Froyo, ICS, JB. I dont care. I want a responsive, fast phone.
Can you guys please help me out with that. I tried to find a few ROMs, but none describes if FM works. Almost everyone says its fastest out there. I think you guys can help out according to my needs.
PS: The Stock rom sucked. And after ICS update it sucked and bit both.

i tried alot of roms out there for neo v and if you really want a responsive, fast phone,...buy a new phone...
all roms get laggy after some time of usage.
codename x has only a few bugs, is quite responsive (but after a week you have to reboot because of heavy lags) and stable.
someone also said, that cm7 has great performance on neo v, but i haven't tried it so far.
JJ's Hybrid ROM, Ultimate HD, Jelly Sandwich, Ice Cream Purness are all great roms with only a few bugs, stable and if you reboot your phone every 1-2 days they are all quite fast.
I preffer JJ's as it has pure AOSP feeling and i cant remember that it has any bugs but Ultimate HD might be a little faster than the other ICS roms.
There are tons of other ics roms, but they are all very similar in performance.
The fastest rom imo is polished blood but it is not really stable with alot of bugs (no hdmi, no fm iirc, camera not fully working...) (well didnt used it for quite a while, maybe it is better now)
i am about to try out pure xperia hd. the creator claims ice cream purness with better performance. that would be great as icp from thillinac is one of the best ics roms for sure and if it would have a little better (hopefully long term) performance, it could be the perfect rom.
ICS ROMs are very laggy...
GB: X-GAMER, Codename
JB: AOSP by mike or AOKP

And if you remove one of your requirements I.e gaming you can install supercharger script you won't face any lag ever even if you don't restart your phone
Although you won't need it on fusion kernel coz it's awesome

It's recommend to restart your phone in 1-2 days
As apps start locking memory space (ram)
And eventually your phone becomes laggy

hey guys,
just thought about something today.. searched abit and couldn't find an answer
what are the difference between de-sense rom and cyanogen rom?
i am looking for a faster snappier UI then what the sense offers..
my thoughts currently are between ARHD with desense or an AOKP\cyanogen variants..
thanks
De-sense still runs sense apps and uses more ram.
An aosp based rom, being cyanogenmod, will run with alot less ram with all the aosp features and tweaks without a trace of sense.
Battery life noticeably changes. Sense is hard on the battery.
Does that also mean that playing Games like Chaos rings 2 or dungeon Hunter 4 on cyanogonmod will improve the temperature too?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
Most likely not. The game uses the processor the exact same as it will on any ROM. This means the processor and battery will heat up the same, but the speed and smoothness of the game may increase.
A De-sensed rom is a Stock HTC sense rom. With rosie and many of the sense background processes removed. The aim is to produce a stock rom with all the features for people who use diffrent launchers, and saving some ram, battery and power in the process.
Aosp (Android open source project) is basically vanilla android. It is built from source and has nothing to do with HTC. Asop roms are usually much faster than stock and much smaller. But you can't use many HTC apps as they require the HTC framework.
Cyanogenmod starts life as Asop but quickly becomes a much diffrent beast. It contains many mods and ways to customise your experience, it is just as fast as asop if not faster.

Well im wondering wich of all the roms that are in Xperia U Development forum is the best, smoother or faster and also wich one of them can be used in a device with Locked Bootloader. I read in a thread something about a patch to convert roms for UB to be used in LB too. So if you can recomend me wich one you think is the best rom or the one you like more. Thanks
You can apply a patch developed by atis112 (I think that's the user name) for ICS AOSP based roms like CM9, AOKP, MIUI, XNovathor (last one is totally AOSP) to work on locked bootloaders..
ICS AOSP based roms leave more free RAM for user than Sony's ICS, but have a weird issue that turns Wi-Fi off and makes phone wake up slower when screen off AND battery not charging.. When battery is charging, Wi-Fi works correctly when screen off and turning screen on is as quick as expected..
Led bar doesn't work.. It can be fixed, but leds will turn on with every screen touch..
Low speaker volume.. Can be fixed with Viper4android..
If you don't use Wi-Fi, I recommend SlimCM (link to patch in rom's thread)
Sony's ICS based roms leave less free RAM, but you have more integrated features, like DLNA, social integration, correctly working led bar, BRAVIA engine, xLOUD and no weird AOSP issues.. Many Sony based roms's UI are almost identical to Xperia Z!
I recommend VeXU (Venezuela Xperia U Mod).. This rom is customizable during installation!
On both AOSP and Sony based ICS roms, battery life sucks, overheat, camera takes a lot of time to focus, and have some lags on heavy gaming.. Personally I don't recommend using ICS unless you really need it
There is no AOSP based 2.3.7 roms.. Some developers tried to port CM7, but they couldn't do it even with custom kernels made by them to fit the rom..
Gingerbread roms have very nice battery life, leave a lot of RAM for user (around 200MB or more), have all Sony's features (the same ones included in Sony's ICS roms) and are more responsive..
They are less smooth, but they are faster and open aplications quicker than any ICS rom!
I've been using GingerBeanSS with my AOSP theme on it for about 3 months and I'm very happy with it!
No JellyBean (or higher) roms on locked bootloader..
You may be interested on this if you want to unlock your bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/general/tutorial-unlock-completely-xperia-t2534127
My Xperia U isn't SIM unlocked, so I can't try that.. But maybe you can!
Hi everyone
I bought xperia mini pro (sk17i) 2 years ago now and i'm sure that this phone is unique and should have a final version of his rom and kernel. Now phones are bigger and bigger and leave physical keyboard, thats boring so why don't we make our xperia MDPI better than ever ?
The project is nice but will take long hard work and many decisions : will the rom be based on the stock, aosp, caf ?
IDEA
Android L is coming soon, and it will be port on the xperia z3. Maybe a port with fine tweak will be great, i think we should oc the processor to 1,3 ghz to smartass v2 to haave a good battery and general performance.
But question is : what we want on the rom ? Pure android ? Sony's android ? or stock MDPI xperia style ?
So what you think of that ? I could do all of that if you tell your opinion

tomorow i will start to make a plan but i think that i'll need a team because i can't do everything, like the kernel. So if your are interesting just pm me
Do you care about batterie life ?
i wish for pure sony on kitkat version, having cybershot(not available but please), fm radio(not available but please), bravia engine, xloud, with updated sony apps like movies walkman and i think quikpic is the best gallery app, cyanogen app launcher but pure sony themes and logo apps it should be nice too if the rom had viperforandroid sound mod with good ram and battery management. i think i am contented with my live with walkman if this rom is push and begin to develop
this my i think my wants for my live with walkman
