Hello there,
My XMP is in stock 4.0.4 ics rooted and unlocked bootloader with some other apps and mods.
I just discovered that the mobile bravia engine works only in sony's default Xperia™ gallery. BE doesn't even works in sony's another gallery (the additional gallery from stock ics). I have tested and take screenshots sample pictures of all my gallery app to test BE and BE is really working only for the default Xperia™ gallery.
Well i have decided to use that gallery as my default gallery. however, i have noticed that when zooming my pictures in default Xperia™ gallery, it shows a really blurred image compared to other gallery like quickpic. And i can\t zoom fully unlike other. Any idea what is wrong.
Does anyone experience the same thing .
Thanks in advance.

From what i understand from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1723889&highlight=bravia+engine you wont notice differences from screenshots, you need to actually take a picture with BE on and then another with BE off (not a screenie an actual picture) and you will only notice them side by side otherwise its difficult to tell. This may also shed some light on your xperia gallery problem. Unfortunately I never noticed a blur bug in the gallery while i was on stock but then again i wasnt looking for it. Even tho your on stock there are some bugs sony missed, its not 100% perfect. Some things can be fixed here, others need to be fixed by sony.
I can see clearly the differences via screenshot with BE on and off.

I am talking about this. When zooming in default gallery it is really blurred compared to the sharp one in other gallery app.

Just until you find a fix, i cant help ive never experienced that problem, i would keep both galleries. Quickpic is very small so it wont take up much space. Then you can view with BE on xperia and zoom on quickpic.
Sorry i couldnt help more,

Hi,
onthe firs step I'm sory for my english.
Last time I change my android 2.3 to ICS alpha but it don't work. When I go back to before configuration (android 2.3 with flashtool), and when I go to galery to see my pictcures everythings was fine, but when i tap and chose photo ( i take the photo before with this phone) it was refresh (but only once) and focus. But when I zoom it was blurred and never refresh. On my zte blade when i change size photo and enlrage, photo refreh again and it is clear. What can i do without instaling diferent photo manager from google play.
Go the settings>apps and select clear data for the gallery app. Hope this works.
I do this, but the problem is still stay
unmount your memory card, remove it from phone, shutdown your phone, turn it on, put card back in, wait a minute or two, now check gallery.
it still not clear when size up

Hm, I just read your post once again, and go to my phone and check.
I opened my gallery, click on image, first image is blurry then it gets clear, after i pinch to zoom it gets a bit blurry but it doesn't get any clear.
So as far as I see, that's normal.
I also find it strange, but that was across all ROM's that I tried, so I think it's normal
Ah yes, I see what you mean now. Stock gallery will never show high res photos in full resolution even if you zoom in (except for camera pics) . For instance, if i have a long rage comic (10 panel+) i have never been able to read the text, even after zooming in 100%. It's a bug or on purpose built in thing. Quickpic is better anyway

In my post I was referring to camera pictures.
So in your case when you zoom camera pictures, the get blurry while zooming, but then gets clearer?

These are 2 pictures zoomed 100% in the stock gallery. 1 taken by the camera at 6MP 16:9, the other is just 1,4Mp. For the photo, I can zoom in to 100%, but for other pictures, I can't.

So its no only my problem i see. Now i just use the quicpic. Maybe someone will made the stock gallery withou this bug. Thanks everyone for help.
I found this professional camera app, which has so much options. You can manually set the exposure time, up to 60 seconds! Also ISO is adjustable.
Downside is that it doesn't support our physical camera key. I tested this app on ICS.

i used to use this app, can not change ISO -,-
It'll be great if we can change ISO on Neo/V. I believe high ISO setting is one downside of this camera.
the stock camera is the best camera, do you think so ?
Can you post some pictures taken by this camera with the vatious settings so we can see the quality and versatility of the camera?
Thanks

I wasn't able to spot any differences myself, only that when I changed the ISO settings and shutter time this app could picture shapes in a dark room, where the stock app just makes an all black picture. But if you want to try it yourself, you know how it works on Android...

OMG i started to think i am just plain stupid but now I see you can't change iso too, then this app sucks, nothing much without iso.
Neo V also, other then that its great app...

If you turn flash on in the stock app you can get a near perfect pic in the dark on the stock app. The flash on the Neo is seriously powerful.
really good app...thnx
The Xperia Z2 camera is clear and fast but it's too dim compared to many older Xperia phones!
So I'm having dim video call experience in low light condition
I tried my friend Z2, and the result is the same
this is an example to make it clear as possible by comparing it to my Xperia T which is on the right in the photo below in the attachment.. both two phones brightness is set to maximum

but after shooting a photo.. it's nice and not dim at all!
I think it needs something like night mode.. because it's faster than Xperia T but dimmer..
any solution please?
Sony has mentioned there are issues with the current camera drivers and they are working on fixing in upcoming updstes
any change about this issue on 4.4.4 ???

Try this app and let me know result...
CameraW [Xperia SmallApp]
this app will capture the view without any compression and modification by effects
SO you will understand better if you have faulty device (cam lens) or just software issue.

Hello guys, i've recently found the mod restoring DRM keys, which thereafter make x-reality and, even vivid for videos work. Moreover it improves camera's quality. So i'd like to find out whether this mod works on our device or not. Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672
well ....im not on a sony rom. But I might just give it a go. Just for fun :fingers-crossed:
edit: The interesting thing is this does absolutely nothing! haha, I might change to a sony based rom to find out. Perhaps later this evening or tomorrow
Interesting - It wont restore the DRM keys, but looks like it flashes a [updated?] DRM server and some other libs to get around the fact that the DRM keys aren't there
Uhm ...I flashed "EXR.MN-Ming_Xperia_ZU V1.4.zip"
Booted
rebooted to recovery
wipe data/system/cache/dalvik cache
flash DRM Restore for Xperia by EXRxYKG.zip
and rebooted
I don't ..see much difference in photos. I might make another test later.
Well in the thread the OP took screenshots and posted so I did the same...I notice no difference

That's ok, as far as i'm concerned the x-reality and super vivid modes apply only to album and movie apps. Thanks for testing it, gonna try it on my own.

dunno what op in that thread had done, perhaps just illustrated the effect by modifying the images in some editing program?

I think the mod is working of some kind
Device: Xperia Z Ultra C6833
Rom: EXR.MN-Ming_Xperia_ZU V1.4
Kernel: DooMKernel (v22)
Screen is being more vivid with X-reality being set to "X-reality for mobile" or "Super-vivid mode".
Here is a screenshot of TrackID app, working good.
Pictures taken in dark environment. When looking at the screen it has lots of noise. But as soon as I take the picture a nice picture is generated without any red or blue noise. And the pictures are taken in almost complete darkness.

This fine fellow seemed to have solved it but never went back to explain how.
I just want to record lower resolution videos (480p?) so they're faster to send than full 1080p ones.

im not sure if this could help you: http://support.bell.ca/Mobility/Sma...ow_to_change_the_camera_resolution_on_my_sony
Or you can use another app: http://opencamera.sourceforge.net/
I know I can change resolution in this app both for photos and for videos.

I remember back in the earlier Xperia days (think Ice Cream Sandwich), there used to be a system file that can be edited in a text editor to configure the default app's resolution and whatnot. I just can't remember which file that was.
Also this is the only option available:

Plus I know I can just use a 3rd party app but I kinda want to get it resolved for the built in app first if possible.

now that you mentioned it I remember this.. this was a long time ago.
Here is a modded stock camera that should be able to change resolution according to the screenshots:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/exrxths-z1-z1c-z2-z3-z3c-z3-xperia-z5-t3250139

However its not related to our Z utra.
I looked around on the forum but can't find a thread related to the z ultra. But I know I've seen it years ago because I remember that I have modded the resolution and bitrade myself with config files just like you mentioned..when the thread was hot news.

I tried to flash the new camera but it's now lacking the microphone mute option. I did, however, find the solution to my problem. I restored to the stock camera and then opened the Camera Apps section (lower left icon) and picked Manual instead of Superior Auto. Then I finally had the resolution choice while still retaining the mic mute option that the newer one you linked lack.
