K I'm using boot manager to install a cm9 Rom and it keeps failing at creating boot.img. I don't know what I'm doing wrong since I've herd of others installing cm9 roms sucessfully using boot manager. Maybe it's something in my settings? Tried making a thread at init2winit forums but have not gotten any response over there. Anyone here willing to help me out? I would greatly appreciate it.

that usually means you dont have enough space
Thanks for the advice. I did check my SD storage and it said that I only had 1.16GBs left. So I thought that this could be true I suppose. So I switched to int. Storage as the install location(which I have 9.67GBs available on) and its causing my phone to lock up and freeze. Happened right at the part "extracting Rom please wait..." Weird...

Remember to disable logging in Superuser. That also causes some major issues. Just open superuser hit settings icon, and where it says logging set it to off. You should have much better luck that way
Cool, I will try that. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, with no luck. I'm interested though. What do you guys have setup in settings?

The Rezound is supported by bootmanager.
I've never been able to get boot manager to work correctly since I've started using it back on my dinc2. Had issues installing some roms on that phone too. Which is why I think my problem may be the settings I am using. Is there specific settings I need to use for the rezound?
EDIT: After I changed the settings SU I tried again at work and it froze still and even rebooted during the install.

Ok, so I finally got cm9 roms to install correctly and now when I try to boot to them it just shows the splash screen for a couple seconds and my display turns off and it never boots. I've tried with kang and paranoid with the same results. I've tried going into recovery and manually flashing the update zip for rom 1, didnt work. Can't think of what could be the problem....

Doesnt look like anyone has asked you this, but are you S-Off?? You need to be S-off for this to work. Also make sure when installing you wipe system/data/cache. You should be able to use the ext.4/2 either one will work. I use the ext.4 since it installs faster....alot faster.

only mentioning that because in the instructions for the app. If he doesnt have to be S-Off then thats strange. Only thing i could suggest after that would be redownload ROM and check MD5

My friend's phone tried to pull an OTA while he had CWM recovery installed, and it started boot looping. Had to download the stock recovery, name is PG05IMG.zip in the root of the SDCard, and force the phone to boot to the bootloader and install it. Once it did, the phone started up, rebooted itself, and installed the OTA fine. Sounds like yours may be trying to do something similar?
If so rooted phones need caches cleared for the ota to work.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
From my understanding, Rooted can still take OTA, but you have to have stock recovery to do it (as I witnessed earlier). You will lose root, and will have to re-flash recovery to TWRP, CWMR, or whatever your normal choice is, and then re-apply the su.zip, but otherwise easy as pie.

Stock recovery PG05IMG.zip http://dl.dropbox.com/u/61129367/PG05IMG-Stock-Recovery.zip
Hello, first of all I would like to thank everyone who has posted in this thread to try and help out. I just started having a very similar problem- I'm rooted and running stock, but apparently my phone accepted an OTA and I'm stuck in a bootloop as well.
I got into CWM recovery and downloaded the stock recovery PG05IMG.zip, but it won't install. It just aborts every time I try to install it. I'm a noob at this stuff and not very good at dealing with these sorts of things and I've been having a panic attack for the past hour, so if anyone could help me as soon as possible I would really appreciate it.
I'm really scared of making things worse than they already are. I just want a working phone.

pull battery, wait a minute, turn on phone
when in bootloader screen,
volume down, select reboot
back to white screen, select recovery ( i had to do this twice)
hold volume up and power when black screen appears
choose the bottom option (wipe cache i believe)
choose reboot
phone should be good aftter this
( idont own a thunderbolt, but i had to fix this for a nother phone, called tech support and this worked)
hope this helps - hopefully saves someone from ruu'ing and wiping their phone

The zip won't work in CWM because it's not designed for use with CWM. It's designed for use in Fastboot. Should be on the root of your sd card. From off, if I'm correct (like this with other HTC devices), hold volume down and power to boot into fastboot. This will allow it to flash the stock recovery.

Hey guys, I continually get this error message upon manually forcing my phone into recovery. I'm on UCLF5 ICS OBJECTION from btw with the latest version of cwm. I would appreciate some help with regard to what exactly it means and how I can fix it.
Also my phone won't shut down properly. The lights on the bottom buttons stay on and I have to manually force it to reboot like I do to get it into recovery. The shortcuts in the rom aren't working for me.

I would put it into download mode and run odin or the Off ics to redo/repack your folders, then put CWM back on....idk
Just putting some ideas in, maybe the guru's will jump in on the thread...
Before nuking it like that... try going to mounts and storage and formatting cache
Although I'm not even sure that error is anything to worry about honestly...but i don't do nandroids personally so Idk for sure.
And Joe....stop quoting the op, please?
Does this error have anything to do with the CWM version being used? Its calling for the external sd card isn't it?
No it's calling on the /cache partition which is in the phone...
But it could be the cwm version, it's looking for a recovery log that it can't open.
I can't do anything with the cache. Its like it doesn't even recognize it. I noticed this when I went to throw another rom on and clear out my caches and it would just freeze. I left it for a half hour once just for the heck of it but it didn't do anything. I had to reboot the phone into recovery again.

What will "fix permissions" do?
I would downgrade cwm, I've been using brawway's touch version since he released his latest, without issue and i think that was in April or may
And fixing permissions, makes the permissions of all apps and .jars be what they should be.
Example: apps in /system/app need rw-r-r permissions, sometimes pasting some of those in will not set them correctly, and if you're doing a bunch at a time is a real pain to go through individually and change them, so that option makes sure everything everywhere matches the permissions needed. So, not applicable in this case.
Well I managed to get another rom on anyway so I don't think its big deal now. I think I might just leave my phone alone now
The collectives 4.04 aocp rom is pretty freaking sweet lol.

Thanks for the explanation.
What is the equivalent of the chkdisk dos command to make the android system rebuild the directory structure? Can you do that through a terminal emulator?
i dunno if there is one other than just reflashing
So basically just flash a new cwm over the one I have now?

If u could get it to boot. And manually set permissions for android.policy.jar that would fix the shutdown issue.

Awesome. Ok, last question. I'm assuming I can just load this onto my phone via Odin like I did my original version of cmw?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Yeah, That or there is also a .zip that can be flashed from your current version of cwm.
If doing it that way after it flashes go to advanced option and reboot recovery, then once in the new one, clear caches and see if that fixes the issue.
Or, just use Odin then boot into recovery and wipe, either way is up to you, but seeing as how it's cwm that's the issue, i might lean towards using Odin myself... Just note that will increase your flash counter iirc, if you care.

Samsung SCHi717 OnlyOne Goldie SMS error
Has anyone else ran into the issue of the stock SMS notifications not going away? When I get a txt message, regardless of how many, it always says I have an unread message. This happened with OnlyOne HYFR and then With Goldie also. Is this a known issue, or is there a way I can just quickly correct this?
Also, I can't find anything that says how to diable the scrolling wallpapers. I wanted static wallpapers for each home/menu screen.
Any advice is appreciated.

So like an idiot, i began the S-OFF process without reverting my SuperCID. I cannot get past step 8, and i am having errors flashing my RUU.
Right now i cannot get past the bootloader. If i try to fastboot reboot, it takes me back to the bootloader. If i try a reboot, it takes me back to the bootloader.
Is there something that i can flash to get me back and running? I have tried numerous things, and i really need my phone back tonight. Grandfather is in the hospital, and i have no way to contact anyone except through facebook / email.
does anyone have some ideas, or know what i need to do? I honestly dont care about root or s-off, i can do that later. Right now i just need a bootable phone.

Probably not. Use the one provided in Andy's thread. ADB is probably not working because debugging has been turned off.
Have you tried the recovery? Check to see if that works. If not try to fastboot a recovery. The command is "Fastboot flash recovery". Try with TWRP. If that takes then try to flash a ROM with that.

I had some issues with various roms for unknown reasons, so I kept trying out new roms. Well the problem persisted, and as I was attempting to flash a new Rom, recovery just kind of failed. Whenever I attempt to enter recovery, a titled triangle with and exclamation mark and a droid figure pop up and I have to do a battery wipe. My phone still starts and runs, but I'm currently stuck on a problematic rom with no way of getting to recovery. I'm fairly new to all of this so I have no idea what's happening and I'm ultimately scared of attempting anything and messing up more. So any and all suggestions are beyond welcome.

So just install cwm multiple times..? Like install it, turn phone on, then install again if problem persists or isn't fixed immediately?
You're looking for some magical recipe that will 100% surely fix your phone. There isn't one. You will just have to play and be creative. You can report back here for more advice if needed.

Like what ravilov mentioned, its more of a trial and error process and not a 100% quick fix. Not having a computer will make things much more difficult.
I'm not looking for a magic easy route, (though it'd be nice if there was one), I'm just asking for literally any advice on the situation.
Use the android sdk 'fastboot' command to push recovery to the device via USB. This should solve your issue with a borked recovery partition.

No need for touch. If you ever damage your screen, touch recovery will make it impossible to use. Once you've flashed it with rom manager, you can download th3bill's recovery for Atrix and install over the top of it.

I'll try to make this brief and to the point. I just got my Thunderbolt a few days ago and it was already rooted. My original goal was to flash it myself and put it on PagePlus. I then attempted to unroot it but that failed badly. I ran through a bunch of articles online and I figured out how to install customs roms. I thought that would fix the issue.
So far I've tried 4 different roms and they've all installed fine. It's just the reboot that's the issue now. When it turns on it goes to the white HTC screen and then it hangs on a blank screen until it reboots again. It's stuck in a loop. So if anyone knows what's wrong, I'd seriously be very thank full.
Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.
I guess I didn't ask the question correctly. I dunno. I installed a few custom roms and and it gets stuck after the HTC screen. what can I do to fix it?
What recovery are you using?

thank you for replying. I'm using 4EXT Recovery Touch. I make sure I wipe / format everything first everytime.
When you boot into the bootloader does it list your radio version?

yes, it's Radio - 1.48.00.930w_3
Here is the complete list:
MMECHA XD SHIP S-ON
HBOOT - 1.05.0000
MICROP - /
Radio - 1.48.00.930w_3
eMMc - boot
Have you flashed either of the official ICS ota radios? I think you have the wrong baseband.

OK, so I went to this site and got the radio, renamed it, and then moved it over to the freshly formatted sd card. I ran bootloader, it's been at the HBOOT checking ... [PG05IMG.zip] screen for about 5 minutes now, I'm about to reboot and try again. I don't understaned the part about having s-off. I know it means security off, but I don't know how to turn it off.

edit: still hangs at the HBOOT checking ... [PG05IMG.zip] screen
Lol you're s on so you cant flash a radio. You need to run the revolutionary tool and get s off. Then flash the radio in the bootloader.

Is there another way to turn s-off? I can't get it to recognize my phone at all and the drivers are installed. I turn on the phone and then it goes go the htc logo and then to a blank screen. it hangs there for a few and then reboots into a loop. since s-on can't I just install a stock rom and be done with it?
Try flashing a GB ROM.

all the rom downloads I found are on Multiupload. Nothing I can use. do you have a link?
Yea I can't help you much there. I'm sure someone else might have a link. You could try infectedrom.com. I bet the link to eternity still works

I think all I need it to get s-off. I found a rom that is compatible with the radio I have. Is there another way to turn s-off with a bootloader or through recovery?
before this phone becomes a victim of Hulk Smash, does anyone else have any ideas?
So are you able to connect with ADB from a computer? The All-in-One tool might be able reset to factory, so you can start over. It can also walk you through Revolutionary/S-Off.

Note on Windows 7 with the latest version of the tool I linked above, I had to use Koush's Universal ADB Driver instead of the HTC one -- it kept causing my computer to blue screen/reboot.
If you're still looking for a GB ROM as someone mentioned a few posts back, the ThunderShed ROM on rootzwiki is very good.

I just installed Airborne-GoUI-B1, Is ThunderShed better in your opinion?
Did go airborne install OK and boot? If so you should try using the revolutionary tool to get s off now.

Oh, yeah. I'm way passed all the issues I had earlier. I'm back to rooted and running smoothly again. I installed airborne, but I really don't care too much for it. It seems real boring. I am considering going back to stock so I can use the legit ICS. All I have to do is just flash the update stock update file and I should be good to go right? I think it's on Android 2.??? and I'd rather have it on legit 4.???
Whatever you do don't take the update.... Just make sure you have ICS radios flashed before you flash the ICS ROMs.
