CWM bootloop? - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

So I did search and found a couple of threads relating to all sorts of deleted things. I know exactly what happened: My nephew clicked the "Erase sd" under the internal memory from Settings>Storage in android. He told me that much.
When I turn on my nook, it shows a white screen with a cardboard box--then it boots into CWM.
When I try to restore an old backup or install a new rom, I see:
E:Can't mount / cache/recovery/command/
E:Can't mount / cache/recovery/log/
E:Can't open / cache/recovery/log/
E:Can't mount / cache/recovery/last_log/
E:Can't open / cache/recovery/last_log/
Since I know that's what messed it up, what would be the easiest option to fix it? do I only have to repartition the cache section?

Have u tried wiping the data and cache? I will not be held responsible if you try that and brick it even more lol

From CWM? Yes I have. I tried installing the rom before wiping however, and after. I get an error while even trying to wipe data/cache though. Was wondering if I should just jump straight to he ubuntu flash method and then just...re-root or something.

I recommend making a bootable Ubuntu -or- Mint linux CD disk. Then use it to have a look at the partitions. Yes, your guess about the partitions being messed up is most likely correct.

Well, I think we have the same problem, mine is described here. Can you boot from SD card? I can't. I suspect the file system to be corrupted as well. The question is, how on earth to fix it?

Bricked Nook

Hi,
I decided that it was time to CWM my rooted Nook so I could install CM7 Alpha! I used Indirects App to Flash to Recovery, followed the steps carefully...used the "reboot into recovery" option and now the Nook boots into a white screen with a brown box - for about 5-10 secs, then to a black screen.
I create an SD card FAT 32 and added the CMW files to it in the hope I could boot to CWM using this method but it seems like the SD card is ignored completely and goes back to the blank screen. I also tried the acclaim.zip to restore to B&N defaults but it just ignores the SD card (2 different cards).
ADB doesn't work either, tried to re-run the original root script and it doesn't pick up the device.
I didn't do anything different to the instructions, not sure why this has happened....
Can anyone offer a little help?
Thanks
The white screen with brown box is normal, CWM not coming up isn't. Perhaps the file was corrupted during your download. I'd download the sd card files again and retry. Also, I recall something about potentially having to hold power and "n" button while booting in order for nook to boot from sd on some devices. Another alternative is to turn device off, insert sd, then plug nook in and allow it to turn on and boot.
I'm new here, and to android, so, if i'm wrong, hopefully someone will pop in and correct me.
Also, did you try looking at some of the "brick fix" threads in the development section?

Few questions....
Why are you wanting/trying to boot cwm from an sd card if you already flashed it to system using indirects app?
Secondly you CANNOT boot cwm using a fat32 formatted sd card didn't you root your tablet before? You have to write the image to the sd card using the tool for windows and/or linux explained here:

I tried to re-install CM7 alpha many times. But, whenever I try to do it, I get the same messages below.

The Nook is notorious for not recognizing the SD card. Pop it out and put it back in. Then try your process again. Also there are multiple threads on support of CM7 and CWM on the site. Take the time to read through them as there is a wealth of information that will most likely walk you through any issue you may encounter.

If you don't have installed the drivers and adb files because you rooted using the sdcard method then download Drivers+adb.zip with the files you need to make adb work. Just Uncompress the zip, drop the ntroot folder within C:\, run the runmefirst.bat then install the drivers as AlbertWertz shows in his videos ( There is a video collection of his videos in my FAQ >> sticky in General section, post#2) then plug your device open cmd type cd C:\ntroot and you should be good to start using adb.

This is actually an extremely common issue it seems. Basically you're partition map has some how been damaged.
All you need to do is download the snowball mod and extract the 'Prated" binary from the bin directory and push it ot your device.
Go to your device and run the binary with the following ocmmand
parted /dev/block/mmcblk0 print
It will most likely show up with an error and ask if you want to fix it. Just say yes and let it do its' thing.
After it completes, reboot your device and see if you still get the same errors, Attempt to install CM7 once more.
If it still doesn't work, run the parted command again then download Adams total wipe and run that. It'll reset your device back to total stock. The parted command will repair the partition table and adamoutlers software will upload all the required software to the correct places for it all to work
Hope that helps!
If you get stuck feel free to give me a shout
****EDIT****
Just realised you can't get into adb, does the device show if you type adb devices?

Not sure which tablet you have 8 or 16gig.
You mentioned reading through the threads, but did you start here?

The process can be frustrating, but the NT is the comeback kid. Someone has an answer for you and your tablet will live again.

[Q] [XSX] {ICS} Weird partitioning problem... Help?

Ok, so I have the icsv10 kernel... And I still can't back up ROMS.
I don't want to go through flashing stock, prerooting it, and installing a new kernel each time I want to try a new ROM!
So maybe you can help me:
When I go to recovery it says:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
And when I format my cache it says:
-- Wiping cache...
Formatting /cache...
E: format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p13
Cache wipe complete.
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I have ubuntu in vmware, so I can use it if needed...
I want to try a new rom, plz help...
Fastboot erase cache.
Still not working, can't restore any ROMS, have not been able to pass the stage when it says that can't work with blocks 12, 13, 14...
What's wrong with my phone?!?!?
Well, I think I had all the problems ever!!!
I solved them, so I hope this post helps...
I had my phone soft bricked for an hour. The flashtool was starting to load, and then it would say error flashing.
So I fastbooted some prerooted ics.
Then it was working but it didn't have any space in the memory, like there was no internal memory (the two giga one). So that's why I couldn't flash.
There was nowhere to flash.
I did format from recovery a million times. Didn't do anything. No errors were encountered...
It would always return to german, didn't even retain settings.
Amd when I was really despaired, I wiped the phone via the phone settings menu: backup and reset -> factory reset.
And then the two giga reappeared in storage. Yay!!!
Then I flashed the nordic, fastbooted kernel ics10.elf and then flashed the Rom (modded ics 95 in my case, don't like miui) . All works fine. I'm the best...

If you're having problem getting ADB setup to work, this method is probably not a good first-choice solution for you. I'd suggest flashing back to stock first using flash_stock_1.4.2.zip at https://github.com/succulent/acclaim_recovery_sdcard, or the repart.img at http://raywaldo.com/2012/06/how-to-un-brick-a-nook-tablet-8gb-or-16gb/.

thanks for your help but it didn't work
there is something wrong with the internal memory
every single time I enter CMW this appears:
E:Can't mount / cache/recovery/command/
E:Can't mount / cache/recovery/log/
E:Can't open / cache/recovery/log/
E:Can't mount / cache/recovery/last_log/

that's why I asked for the ADB cuz it looks the only solution for my problem
I can make the rom work from the SD card but I can't install it on the internal memory

If you can boot into CWM on SD, I'd suggest that you "wipe /cache" (not /data) to see if that will take care of the /cache error diagnostics you encountered.
If you want to pursue the ADB route, see http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html as well as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970225.
You might also want to take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37515697&postcount=31 for background info on the NT emmc partition structure and cautionary notes on trying to unbricking the device.

[Q] CWM6.0.5.0:Error mounting /data while making a backup onSGS2 in bootloop withCM11

Okay, so this happened out of nowhere. My phone was perfectly fine and when I wanted to check for new messages/notifications etc he couldn't turn on. So I powered him up and he was stuck in a bootloop. I said, okay, it's not the first time. I immediately went to backup and restore option to make backup of whole system because data of some apps is valuable to me. I selected the option to backup it on external memory card. It backed up the boot image, recovery image, system partition and when it comes to data partition it restarts or show err on /data partition. I tried changing the default file formats, without success.
So, is there a way to make backup of that partition(maybe installing another cwm?) and how?
Additional info: I tried making backups on both partitions and nothing. On internal SD I have ~3300mb free and on external SD I have ~2500mb free. The reason I am using CWM c6.0.5.0 is that none of the earlier versions don't support Kit Kat based systems. Another thing is that if I select 'mount USB device' option I can see both, the internal and the external SD card on my pc. Perhaps, there is a way to recover /data from that option?
Also, when I enter the CWM at the bottom of the screen it says this:
CWM-based Recovery v6.0.5.0
Swipe up/down to change selections.
Swipe to the right for enter.
Swipe to the left for back.
