Hi,
I want to connect a ps3 controller using the cable to my international rooted s3 but have a question.
How does the phone recognize the ps3 controller with the otg cable? Does the cable come with some drivers to be installed or do I just plug it in and attach ps3 controller and it simply works?
As far as I know, no drivers are needed. Just plug your sixaxis and il will work (you'll have to map the keys into the game anyway).
You shoud also consider using "Sixaxis Controller" to use it via BT.

Is there a difference between a SixAxis Controller vs a wireless ps3 controller? Sorry I dont own a ps 3
I never tried to use a wireless ps3 controller other than the sixaxis.
Many wireless controllers needs a dongle to connect to the PS3. You should ensure that the one you have use bluetooth without any dongle.
In the case you need a dongle, you'll have to connect it with a usb otg cable (you won't need any drivers as I said).
I can't guarantee the "sixaxis controller" app will work with a different one.
Interesting thread,i actually own a ps3 and a gs3 (^^) and never believed i can use my sixaxis via Bluetooth on my galaxy, which games are supported?
Inviato dal mio Samsung Galaxy S III con Tapatalk!
Virtually every game can be played with sixaxis. Some support are native (you'll have to map the keys anyway) like mame, etc.
For games wich can be played "only" with the touchscreen, you'll have to use a special mapping on sixaxis controller.
You'll find some profiles in this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800342
For information, GTA III is also supported. I'll have to work on Onlive profiles soon.
Hope that helps.
I picked up a ps3 controller from a second hand store for ten pounds bargain i thought.
Games wise link above is great i havent come across many games that dont work appart from a select gameloft titles

Will a dualshock 3 ps 3 controller work with no problems? I'm not able to find the original sixaxis ps3 controller locally. But the guy at EB games said that Dualshock 3 has sixaxis built in but with rumble...any thoughts?

Anyone know of a compatible gamepad that works with the Transformer? I know there is the Datel Wii Retro Wireless controller, but I was hoping for something to use via the USB ports.
You could use a Wiimote along with a nunchuck controller or a Wii classic controller.

I don't have high hopes w/ ps3 controller working.. (Though that woudl be conveniant; my ps3's been down for 2 weeks now and another 4 till I get psn again? urgh)

Not the most powerful hardware in the world, but should be able to easily emulate up to, maybe including the PS2? I never saw touchscreen devices as serious gameplaying devices because I'm archaic and need physical buttons and controller pad/joysticks, but this certainly changes things with native support.

The wiimote is confirmed working. I'm listing game controllers in my master Emulator and Rom compatability thread, stop by and list the emus and roms that are working for you.

This is a thread to collect a list of game pads and controllers that are known to work, to chat about them start a new thread in the right forum. Maybe this can be wiki'ed sometime.
If you have a controller/pad that works, post the following:
Game pad make/model
Connection method; like Bluetooth or USB
Does it work fully?
What did you have to do to get it working? E.g. paired it via Bluetooth.
For more detailed questions than the above, please start a new thread in Q&A or here as appropriate instead of pissing in this pool, thank you!
For software to test with, I suggest something that already works with the keyboard, like Muffin Knight( Free) or whatever the most common emulator is. Both should make a reasonable baseline. If you need to find an emulator and crap, use SEARCH or make a thread. This thread is more useful when game agnostic as possible, threads for specific games/controllers can spell out specific issues.

I have a Logitech Dual Analogue Controller that connects via USB and works perfectly. Nothing is needed to make it work at all, works with shadowgun, gta III partly (except in car, cant move forward!) and cordy
i have an icontrolpad that works perfectly with mame and the other emulators. Also works with any game that is icade compatible.

Do you have the model number for this controller? Logitech makes several controllers and I am looking to get one. Saw some bad reviews on the accuracy (analog joystick) on some of the Logitech controllers.

I use a PS3 controller with the Sixaxis Controller program as well. Works perfectly on a Rooted Transformer with Emulators. My favorite right now is Majora's Mask on N64oid.
I have yet to try it on GTA3 or OnLive though. If OnLive works properly in my house, I may consider investing in their Universal Controller.
has anyone tried the ps3 controller with Modern Combat 3? If not, could they? That's really the only game I want to use a controller with, so I'm waiting to hear if it works before I go out and get one.
Thanks in advance.
Questions like that belong in a separate thread in Q&A or in (one of) the threads on MC3, not in a list of controllers that work with this tablet, thank you in subsequentessence .

Just a warning to anyone that might mistakenly get a Rumblepad 2 (which looks very similar) or Rumblepad 2 Wireless I can't get em to work with the transformer. =[
Rumblepad 2 works with my galaxy nexus. Is there any way to change key mapping in GTA III?
sixaxis program
Anyone getting the sixaxis program to work on an unrooted tf101, i got it paired with my ps3 controller but to map keys i want to use sixaxis controller program just wont run , even tho ics on the tf101 naitavely supports ps3 controllers do you still need to be unrooted??
Wii's wiimote also work like a charm on ICS using WiimoteController. I've tried two wiimotes at the same time to play N64oid and MAME4droid and no problems, just have to edit the input settings to map buttons to your like.
Just received my transformer prime, and currently updating it to ICS - so far everything's great ^_^ I'm really keen to try using my PS3/Xbox/Wii controller with the tablet, but can't find instructions on how to pair any of them anywhere - anyone got any ideas?
I wasted money on a PS3 controller to do just that. Then found out that its not compatible (via bluetooth) with the prime.
I have ICS and had to finally root it to be able to use my PS3 controller with bluetooth, using a third party app, but its a pain to setup each game for it.
Wiimotecontroller on the Market allows you to pair a Wiimote to the Prime via Wi-Fi. It's free but can be a pain to set up every time you want to use it. Also, as above there is an app called Sixaxiscontroller (Paid) which allows you to pair your PS3 controller to the Prime but it does require you to root. There are also some third part controllers out there such as Gamestop's own tablet controller.
Cheers but I thought it was meant to have out-the-box compatibility with these controllers?
I believe the compatibility was only wired (USB)... not wireless

You have to connect it via the USB in the dock for it to work out-the-box.
There are some wireless USB dongles that work with some controllers.
Needing root for wireless PS3 controller support is across all of Android. I don't have the technical explanation, I just know that you have to be rooted for the pairing applications to work.
Just get this. It's for the Trasnformer, but I would assume it would work on the Prime. Same connector.
I put the wrong link. But there is an adapter that provides a USB port. I just can't find it. lol
For example, what sort of game controller would you need to make this work. I'm guessing you can't use the PS3 one over USB? Does the cable just transmit power but still connects via bluetooth to the PS3?

Pretty sure the PS3 Controller works perfectly fine when you pair it with the Prime via USB, it's just via Bluetooth i.e no dock/adapter that you have to root it.

I'd suggest getting a few emulators on your Prime, FF7-9, Crash Bandicoot 1-3 and Resident Evil 3 all work near flawlessly on my Prime other than a few audio issues. I'm waiting for a fully tested root before I go ahead a root my Prime so no PS3 controller for me yet and a Wiimote to play PS1 games sucks

That price is a bit too hefty in my opinion, especially when I can get a compatible controller for ~$10 more which is all I'd be using the adapter for.

Just realised there's a very easy to use Root for the ICS Prime in the Development section. Rooted and installed Sixaxiscontroller and my PS3 controller is working perfectly. Definately recommend doing this than buying the adapter but I can understand why people wouldn't want to root .

I have not tried the ASUS USB adapter, but it should work with the wired xbox360 controller.
I have tried using the wireless controller, with the charge-n-play kit plugged into the TF201-DOCK, which is supposed to make it equal to a wired controller, and that does not work. I do not have an actual 360 wired controller.
On the recommendation of others, I even bought the USB/BT JoyCenter app from the Market, and that did not work, though I suspect that I could use one of my Wiimotes now (I don't like that controller though).
So I just got my USB adapter, and it's awesome to be able to use my keyboard, wireless mouse and portable storage with my tablet.
Just wondering what other peripherals you guys have used with your Tablet S.
I use a wired gamepad, or bluetooth sync a PS3 controller with it to play games like Grand Theft Auto III and Crash Bandicoot.
Unfortunately the Playstaion Suite is such a fail in execution to offering the full PSOne backlog, or recognizing games I purchased on my PS3 already. :/
Im want to buy a bluetooth keyboard and a ps3 controller, do many games/apps support the ps3 controller?

most usb controllers should work as long as USB HID drivers work correctly. the issue would be button assigning. now that you've mentioned this ill give it a try with my old gamepad.

I am currently planning to purchase a lapdock for my atrix this Aug 7 when I will hopefully get enough birthday money for this (just can't spend outside of budget right now). I am trying to find out whether it is possible to use an usb based controller for emulators. The reason why I want the USB based one is to save on cost and be able to use the same controller on my bluetooth-less laptop for the PS2 emulations.
to clarify, I do NOT have any usb controller right now so I am looking for two things,
Do usb controller works with lapdock?
if so, which controller comes recommended?
Bonus point if the controller is tiny and have all of the controls that a playstation controller have.
P.S.
If this is just impossible, I'll just go with the bluetooth Nyko Playpad,

no, PS2 emulation on my Toshiba Laptop. PS1 emulation on my atrix/lapdock. This is why I want a controller that I can switch between the two anytime I need to. Unfortunately, my toshiba laptop do not have bluetooth :crying:

Wow, this is kind of eerie, and lucky for you at the same time. I just recently decided to buy a PS3 controller for me to use for FPSE on my Atrix using Sixaxis Controller app. It works perfectly, and it's connected using bluetooth. I use the PS3 controller even when my Atrix is mounted on my Lapdock, still using Sixaxis Controller. So, to answer your question, Get a PS3 controller, 'cause it'll work on your Atrix while using Lapdock. As a bonus, you can charge the PS3 controller via USB on the lapdock (which is what I do.) The best part is, it also works perfectly on a Windows PC using the DS3 tool. I use the same PS3 controller to play PS2 games on my PC. I can even help you out in setting it up if you go through with it. Hope this helps. And sorry if what I said is a little confusing. I just got excited 'cause I was wondering the same thing as you, just a few weeks back.

The PS3 controller connects to your phone via bluetooth. It's more convenient in my opinion, compared to hooking it up to your lapdock's USB port. I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but i think it's a better solution. Your thoughts?

For the PS3 controller, it has to be a Genuine Sony Dualshock 3 or Sixaxis. Otherwise, you'll have a problem connecting it to Sixaxis controller, the app used to pair the controller to your phone. I haven't tried using a Wii controller, or any other controller for that matter. I decided to try the PS3 controller, and it works excellently for me.
I know the wiimote works just fine, i even have the gamepad connected with it, and use it for my snes games and whatnot. look up Wii Controller IME by Ryan Frawley in the store. =]

@abetsi
that was my concern all along, not being compatible with sixaxis. ill just wait until i really want one. not very much of a cellphone gamer. i have dslite and 3ds.
@Deafcyclist
it is possible ics has even more drivers, so i might test it later. as i recall to pair ps3 controller with sixaxis a PC is required, its through usb. i suppose it can be used like you want it.
edit: testing new jellybean alpha and my logitech gamepad works, both joystick and dpad. i have not tested any game yet but its good news native usb gamepad support.

I am okay with connecting to the atrix/lapdock with bluetooth, my main concern is whether I can connect a PS3 controller directly to my TOSHIBA LAPTOP (not the lapdock) via usb. I know that a PS3 controller have a mini-USB port for charging, but I'm not sure if this can be used to get the PS3 to connect via USB. If this is the case, then this controller may be perfect for me in pretty much every way except for it's size (I wanted some really tiny controller, heh)
