Good day gentleman! I was trying to unlock the bootloader on my atrix using the RSD and the unlock.sbf and when it was going to boot for the first time to finish the process it didn´t and I got a message "Failed to boot 1". Then it will not start, and if I press Pwer + Vol Down nothing happens, if I press Pwer+Vol up I get:
"Failed to boot 1"
PwrReason: PWR_KEY_PRESS
Starting Fastboot protocol support
So.......I can´t get it into RSD , just into fastboot protocol.........wich I have not a clue of what to do with it!
Can anyone give me an advice please?
Thanks a lot!

Hello! Thanks! Is there a tutorial for that? I´m really not familiarize with ADB
Thanks!
Download a recovery.
Move it into ur adb folder.
Rename it to 5.img or what u want.
Boot into Fastboot
Type with adb:
moto-fastboot erase recovery
moto-fastboot flash recovery 5.img
moto-fastboot reboot

This is fastboot, it has nothing to do with adb. Don't confuse the poor guy even more with incorrect terminology. Maybe you keep your moto-fastboot in the adb folder but that's specific to you.

How do you flashed your recovery first time ??
I did it with fastboot and adb.
i got my fastboot from here : http://www.mediafire.com/?jfytd3dabf4m4fu
if it not called moto-fastboot in your adb folder than rename it to:
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery 5.img
fastboot reboot
it work for me but if u know a better solution please tell me.
Let's try again...
"Fastboot" and "ADB" are two completely separate things, unrelated to each other. One is not required to use the other.
I flashed my recovery using moto-fastboot, I didn't have adb installed at all and it still worked fine.
Like I said, if you want to put your moto-fastboot in your adb folder, that's fine, but that's specific to you.
Okay... Lol... Now i know what u mean.
My fault. Im sorry

I can't go into the recovery mode.
I can only go into the fastboot mode.
Try this,... Go into fastboot.
Hit BACK to enter the fastboot bit.
I should now say FASTBOOT USB or something similar.
Then you need to cd into the right directory using CMD.
example,... I have to type...
cd c:\sdk\tools ................But it might be different on yours.
then type
fastboot devices
It should bring up your device serial number.
Then type
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot erase cache
Then reboot.

try the HEROIMG.zip method
Hello,
just another idea:
- download an original RUU.exe (preferably of an older version, rootable) and extract rom.zip (a lot of guides in the forums)
- rename to HEROIMG.ZIP and put in sdcard root
- restart hero with volume down pressed
- normally it should find the heroimg.zip and flash it and you are back to normal

As terminator 1983 said, you need to unlock your bootloader. Click through the link that was posted and read up on the unlocking process. You'll see that involves being in RSD mode, and flashing the pudding .sbf. Then reflash CWM, and re-install your ROM.
Alright, I clicked the link, and scrolled down to HOW TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER. The first option, the link is dead. The second option, which seems to be easiest, the download link is dead also. Is there any other way I can get the file "Full 2.3.4 with preinstall root and pudding bootloader unlock, full sbf" ? Then using RSD Lite to flash that should be all I need.
Also, in that second option, I scrolled down to the second post since I'm not an ATT user, and tried doing the CMD commands, but when I put in the first command "fastboot flash preinstall preinstall.img" it says this is not a command.

make sure you run the command from the same folder your fastboot.exe is at. Also, any file you are trying to flash has to also be in that folder.
i.e. fastboot.exe and preinstall image are in c:\atrix, then cd into c:\atrix and then run your commands.
Sorry, I can't help with the dead links.
*Edit*Btw, you can just get the pudding .sbf from here, instead of using the automatic ones.
Alright, moved fastboot and the img into the same folder, ran the commad, and it says the following:
"sending 'preinstall'
OKAY
writing 'preinstall'
FAILED (status read failed (unknown error))
finished"
followed the link you provieded to the main pudding thread, downloaded the IHOP file for international useds, flashed the SBF succesfully, but I'm just where I was before.
When following this guide http://briefmobile.com/how-to-unlock-the-atrix-4g-bootloader I type in the command in fastboot and it says OEM Fastboot Not supported.
Need help here guys.
Edit: Tried again and it gave me my code, redid the command with the code, this time it said ERROR: Failed to write.
Okay, making progress now, checked my phone and it said Your phone is not unlocked. Rebooted and not instead of saying Unable to boot 2 Starting RSD Mode, all it says is unlocked. I'm able to get into recovery mode, but it's the default android recovery in blue. What else can I do?

Glad to hear you got it unlocked. I would recommend flashing romracer's recovery. Make sure to read through the first 2 posts of that thread. There is a file you have to delete in order for it to stick. Since you're familiar with fastboot now, I would just use that method to install.
After that, follow the instructions to install your ROM of choice.

I've downloaded the Light green version, placed the img in a folder along with fastboot and the 2 dll files associated with fastboot, ran cmd to that folder, typed in the first command, and it says it's not an external or external command. Is there something else I should be doing?
Whattheheck, may as well copy what I posted on another forum for some additional info:
Hello, I've been on many forum sites looking for a fix for my problems, but nothing SO here's my story. I have a rooted Motorola Atrix on Bell. I installed the app "System Recovery" and used that to flash recovery, then booted into recovery and installed the rom "Neutrino Rom EE". The problem is, I didn't unlock my bootloader, so every time I tried turning my phone on it'd say "Failed to boot 2. Starting RSD mode." I used the guide "How To: Unlock the Atrix 4G Bootloader" on Breifmobile (can't post link) to unlock my bootloader, and from what I can see (my phone being stuck at the boot screen with a motorola logo and the word UNLOCKED in the top left) it worked. Problem is now I'm stuck here. I can access the menu by holding pwr and vol down, then I can select an option. I tried selecting Android Recovery, and this brings me to the default recovery, but there's nothing I can do here. I can still access RSD mode and Fastboot from the menu, so perhaps there's a fix from there.

Download CWM recovery img file from here (not the zip one)
[Unlocked Only][RECOVERY][2011-11-14] Custom CWM-based Recovery 5.0.2.7-atrix5
Place the recovery img file in fastboot folder and type these commands on command prompt after getting to fastboot folder.
fastboot erase recovery (it will erase the earlier recovery)
fastboot flash recovery recovery-blue-atrix5.img
The second command will flash the recovery img on your device you will have to change this portion "recovery-blue-atrix5" of the command according ur revcover img name or rename ur recovery img with this name.

have you atleast unlocked your bootloader is the first question...and if so easiest, do you have root access?... way i found to flash a recovery is like this:
have a fully charged battery
boot into your hboot screen and select fastboot
plug the phone into the computer with the data cable
once the phone is loaded open a terminal or ms-dos window
navigate to where you have the fastboot.exe command and make sure you have your new recovery as "recovery.img"
then type in fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
and then let it write it to your phone then unplug it and reboot into your new recovery

first you have to write your recovery to that partition and like if you download teamwin recovery rename it to recovery.img etc....then you can boot into the new recovery
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
(This will reboot you into boot loader)
Then to flash recovery
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name.img
(Change "name" to the name of your recovery. )
Then you should be good.

Hello guys,
Let me preface this with the fact that I have been searching this forum for the past hour and could not find anything pertinent for my situation.
I've updated to the latest GSM OTA (the Vodafone EU one) and all was great, decided to reboot my phone and got into a bootloop. I don't have a recovery to boot from and going to be short on battery soon.
The way I see it, I'm stuck with a bricked phone until the RSD package for the OTA is released. Is that correct? am I missing anything?
Can anyone point me to a relevant thread where I can catch a break?
Cheers!

Please tell us how you fixed this, i have same problem but i already screwed it up more by trying to flash back to ics after i was stuck at boot on JB vodafone. Now i have bricked phone and i wait for Fastboot files, which we dont know when will come out
Got the same problem here
Alright, here goes.
I am not responsible to whatever happens to your phones. This process is described for the Vodafone OTA.
Also, you will lose root
I'm guessing your phones are in a constant bootloop right about now. If they are, you have to make sure you still have some battery left so that on AP Fastboot it shows battery OK. If you don't, follow the guides here to get more juice or get a 'factory cable' and charge your phone.
To download:
- Fastboot from here: http://dfiles.eu/files/bih3tmg7b
- OTA kernel (here: http://d-h.st/xat )
- The whole OTA here ON YOUR SDCARD
- original ICS RSD Image here
Process:
Extract the fastboot somewhere accessible like c:/fastboot
Extract the kernel and the original ICS files on your desktop
Copy the OTA kernel (boot_3.0.8-g7198280) to your c:/fastboot folder
Copy 'system_signed' from the original ICS archive to your fastboot folder
Open the command prompt (search for cmd.exe in your programs)
Navigate to c:/fastboot (use "cd .." to excape a folder and "dir" to list the files in a folder )
Go to AP fastboot on your phpne and do the following from the command prompt:
fastboot flash boot boot_3.0.8-g7198280.img
fastboot flash system system_signed
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Now restart your phone and enter recovery the normal way volUp+volDown + power button then select Recovery, then volUp+volDown to see the menu.
Do a factory reset
Flash the OTA (that should be on your card)
Reboot
Ta-da!
If after the whole process you get a flash failure when rebooting your phone, use this guide to get rid of that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634223
If this helped you, please show the 'Thanks' button some love. Also, post here if you run into trouble, DO NOT PM!

That's weird. Prolly the flash was messed up somewhere..
Try this before "fastboot flash boot boot_3.0.8-g7198280.img":

For your information, I managed to unbrick my phone. Problem seemed to be my CID.IMG. After erasing it, I could enter recovery and installl JB from ext-sdcard. Now I have to use BP Tools tools to boot, because as soon as I restore CID, the device doesn't boot.
Really strange, because my phone is actually from Europe (d/a/ch), Switzerland. Maybe it's due to the fact that I switched to the chinese JB Ota leak before updating to the EU leak.
Hi guys!
I´m kinda desperate right now. I ****ed up and when drunk I uninstalled OxygenOs and tried to update my recovery and I bricked my phone.
The phone right now can´t boot into the recovery (Volume down + power does nothing) but I can boot into fastboot mode. Also booting normally does nothing since no OS is installed.
Is there any way/guide to maybe solve this? I tried to follow the Hard Unbrick guide but can´t make it work (The pressing volume up step does nothing).
I apologize in advance because I imagine that this might already be posted by other people.
Thank you in advance,
craked5!
Just simply:
1.boot into fastboot mode
2. Download Recovery eg. TWRP
3. Connect phone to pc
4. In command line type (make sure you have fastboot drivers installed)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
recovery.img must be the name of your recovery file name.
After that you have working recovery
This is a link to both unbrick mini and full with some instructions.

What if the bootloader was never unlocked and you are in the same situation? A friend sent me his plus X to see of I could get it going again. It can only boot to fastboot. No recovery, and apparently no OS. I'm not even sure what they wetter trying to do with the device since he is not that savvy with adb or fastboot. . I just want to get the device back to stock for him.
I ran the command "fastboot oem device-info" and from what I can see the bootloader was never unlocked.

That's what I thought. It's toast then...lol.. My guess is someone didn't check the OEM unlock switch in developers options and then tried following some guide some where. These phones are so easy to work with. But to screw this device up this bad is messed up. Thanks for your help.
