Build from Aug 9th fixed the "can not answer phone calls:.
Loving the ROM, want to modify the homescreen
Greetings. I can seem to find any settings for the homescreen or launcher.
Without using a different theme, is it possible to do the following?
-remove fixed google search widget that is at the top of the homescreen?
-can I change from 5 screens to 3?
-can I remove the dock/launcher all together for using the device in table mode?
Many thanks to the dev, and thanks for setting up this Q&A

There's no settings for the default launcher. I'd suggest Apex. It's identical, but with MANY options. Plus it puts a "Launcher" section in the settings menu.

thanks, I'll try Apex. I just returned to Android after a yearlong absence and I used to use Launcher Pro but it seems like development stopped on it a while ago.

+1 Apex rules.
Nova is very good as well. I would suggest getting the Pro (paid) version of either.
It's only a couple bucks and adds more transitions, gestures, etc...
This got buried in the other threads nonsense so I'll repost here:
I don't have the option to move apps from the SD to phone any more. After I updated the rom programs such as XDA App were installed on the SD so they started saying it wasn't installed. Usually I just move the app back to phone to get it working. ...but it looks like that option is missing from Settings>Apps.
Did the method to move the apps back and forth from SD change?

I didn't see it in that part of Settings when I looked. Can't you use TiBu to accomplish that though?
Yes, Titanium Backup Pro can do it -- also could use Rom Toolbox Pro

I've been trying to do this with Titanium but it isn't working either.

Dang! New paranoid settings do not compute with me! I read the link Jamie posted too. I just don't get it. Just wanted what i had but nothing was working...don't get all the "px" settings...as there are more than just those three he posted. Not trying to anything fancy....yes.. clean install .. not Jamies fault as rom otherwise was great. Settings seam more complicated to me...if anyone has some suggestions could you pm me...really want to understand especially if these paranoid settings are final.

360px is for phone mode
600px is for phablet mode
700px is for tablet mode
example:
i run Nova Launcher but i wanna keep my phone UI but run Nova Launcher in Tablet UI
I would go to PA settings click on apps look up Nova and switch the PX to 700
then go back and mess with the dpi slider to make icons/launcher big enough to read or for likings
its a trial and error for every app
Here is a screen shot of how it looks

Yeah. I understand those three px numbers but there are more than that...maybe i shouldnt concern myself with those? This screenie is my config on aug 1 build. I want to get back to that first.....but upon flash i had no sys or user dpi set.
Last build i kept config as it was on flash...do i need to set that this time? Then....i set apps how i wanted. Thanks for your input!!!!!

And is there AOSP lockscreen changes like custom icon unlocks? thanks! looks good i'm die hard AOSP, but resorting to running on meanrom for now cause its the most stable and battery efficient

Absolutely, this one right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044351
the funny thing is the status bar also has very small spaces at either end(left and right end) where it doesn't quite reach the edge of the screen and also has a slim space on top where the status bar doesn't quite meet the top of the screen but oddly enough this does not show up in the screenshot I posted where it looks as it should. The spacing issue was present before this flash though as I went back and looked at another screenshot I took before the flash. Must have happened from the original mod but I just didn't notice.

Ok never mind my last post, once I navigated to the file in recovery it said .zip so I went ahead and flashed. I think it's a windows thing where it hides the .zip in the filename
Anyway, I flashed and all went well

Black status bar present
GPS icon gone(WOOT)
wifi toggle is now present
Only issue is that the ongoing wifi nag is still there, not sure if it was supposed to be gone or not.

[Edit]hey just found a mod to fix multiwindow to allow all apps in split view-no flashing!!!make sure to enable the module first and reboot!
Download it HERE--> http://db.tt/b1hASleP
Also call recording(untested)
->>> http://db.tt/RKZPs6ng
I use the call recording option from tweakbox- not all settings from tweakbox may work! (When using tweakbox enable proper libraries.)--> http://db.tt/zsdh2YZW
make sure to enable library file if needed!
Awesome!

Do you have busybox installed??
I'm running applets from /xbin btw!
Just installed this in CleanROM V3.5, and tried setting Chrome to 160 DPI in Tablet mode... works great!
Installed perfectly and changes get made, however with stock email, when changing the dpi to anything lower than 320, in portrait I get white spacing on the right hand side for some reason, like it won't stretch to fir the screen. In landscape, it looks prefect though. Any ideas as what the issue is?

png files just arent meant for that dpi. Try adjusting the dpi to better fill the gap.also play with the tablet check box and the resolution pulldown.

I've looked into this and my stock odexed email app does not show the gap you describe..
I'm waiting for that scrennie to see exactly where the gap is .
However, as this is not an issue with the dpi mod itself, but rather the app dpi requirements, I'm glad to help anyway.
Tis good to smooth out all applications of this mod to our device

Thanks so much for your help. I think I will just stick with what I got. Was just hoping to make it slightly smaller to take advantage of the bigger screen. No biggie. Its just weird reducing the dpi doesnt fit to screen in portrait like it does in landscape.

Maybe Dumb nOOb Question
Although i can succesfully run others programs to mod/open up device abilities, i am far from understanding what actually goes into creating any of it from roms, to themes, to jailbreaks..and so on, talk of code and algorythms make me glaze over like a kid in high school hung over from the night before. I absolutely love the REDCLEAN.zip full red theme you did for 3.5, will you be blessing us with full themes, and if so, again i am clueless, how long would/will it be to develop something like that? Everyone i show, says how cool it is and ask where they can buy it,or is it on google play, i do inform them they appreciate donations! lol, i tell them all to go to xda and read. Anyways i appreciate the time and effort you put into these mods, but as roms constanly change, the themes and mods do to, from the looks of it you must love it, as you are most thanked and keep up on the stuff quickly, and i don't want to upset you by asking when, but if you cringe at my post i understand if you dont answer the nagging kid at heart. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!

Most likely won't be too many full themes until they're are more themers over in this section. There are 2 more now making themes so hopefully well see alot, they both do nice work. But I do plan on keeping my minithemes updated to the latest cleanrom version. I like offering more choices of color over doing full themes. Plus with me constantly working on the framework it themes more and more. Maybe when they are done I can start adding more apps. But I'm glad you guys enjoy my work and I will continue to theme this device like crazy

Hi mocha hey I found a themer to do the 1% circle battery I don't know how hard or if this will work on your theme (not putting the circle battery in but to modify the SystemUI ) but I couldn't get the 1% battery to update the right % so this is what she told me I don't know if you could do this so next time all I have to do is flash her icon and it will work down below is what she told me and had to do to the SystemUI thanks so much this is her link too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2053075
you should be good to go now. The theme was missing the 1 percent battery xml's like I figured so when you flashed it, it wiped out the xml's from my SystemUI. Let me know how it goes.

I know that one theme I would like to see is something that changes the phone icon from the green box to the blue phone that's on a diagonal with no box around it, as well as the sms icon that has the on it instead of the envelope, as I am always confusing the SMS messages with my gmail because the shapes are so similar. That is probably the only thing I like about Beans ROM over CleanROM but I'm definitely a CleanROM guy overall.

Ok guys, go easy on me. This is my first real attempt at theming anything major on the S4.
Last updated 07/23/2013 - Fixed colors in mms and mms send button text.
This is for the Verizon S4 VRUAMDK
For Dialers that will work with ME7 go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438904
This is for Deodexed roms...
Note: Several users have had success installing this on odexed roms by simply renaming or deleting the odex files for the apps installed:
SecContacts.odex
SecPhone.odex
SecMms.odex
I hate the white dialer and have noticed from the many posts here I'm not the only one.
I didn't want totally blacked out apps but just didn't want white.
So here is what I came up with:
Dialer themed after the T-Mobile S4
Got rid of the cartoon looking blank contact (there may be some lingering that are pulled from framework files)
Mms emos changed with mostly yellow smileys.
Mms Widget themed (semi-transparent backgrond)
Probably more, I have been working on this for 3 weeks now. I thought Sense was hard to theme.
Touchwiz makes Sense look easy
Thanks to prsterero and Gunthermic for helping me find some of the color locations.
Enough banter...

As usual, I am not responsible for any damage or problems you may have. I recommend a full nand backup before flashing any mods.
Due to the nature of custom roms there is no way for me to know what has and hasn't been customized. This and all of my other mods should only be flashed after doing a backup in case things don't work the way it's expected.
These mods have been tested on several roms before posted but that is no guarantee that they will work on every rom out there.
This will replace SecPhone.apk, SecContacts.apk, and SecMms.apk
It will not modify or alter your framework-res.apk or your SystemUI.apk

Themeing
I don't mean to thread hijack here but I was wondering if you could point me to a good resource with instructions on themeing apps?
What you have done look fantastic, and I can't wait to try it out. There are just a few small tweaks that I would like to make but to want to ask you take your time to do them (personally I prefer the green android smiley's). I would love to figure out how to do this myself. I'm pretty much starting from ground zero here so a "for dummies" guide would probably be in order.
Thanks again for the work you've done and for sharing it with us!
Looks great!
Question: I'm only interested in the phone theme because I'm using the aosp messaging app. If i remove secmms.apk from the zip and flash, will that theme just the dialer and contacts?

I would also like to see a version without the messaging app. Other than that, flash worked like a charm on Cleanrom 1.6.5. Love the dark dialer, but am not a fan of the blacked out messaging app.

I added an MD5 to the OP, check to make sure yours matches.
I have only tried this on "Jelly Beans" but the phone, contacts, and mms are based off the stock rom.
I know others have flashed it and it is working for them, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work on stock rooted.
Again, I am running Jelly Beans but just to make sure the upload was good I downloaded it from the link in the OP and flashed and all worked fine for me.

Added Phone and Contacts only zip file to OP
I tried this and it worked great but when I apply RIT Icon theme it fc's the phone like crazy. Sucks that it wont work with it.
edit: I guess I found a workaround. I just flashed revert and then flashed the dark version and it seems to have fixed it.
Tried flashing this with interesting results...
I'm running sacs v4, which comes with the call recording mod. I flashed the dialer/contacts zip and it looked great, but it removed the call recording. No problem, I figured I would just flash the call recording mod that works with themed phone on top.
Booted up, and no service! Then I get an error message saying my sim card had been removed! Nope! Restored a nandroid, and haven't messed with it since. If I get this to work then I will let you know gadget. The theme looks really great, I love it but I prefer call recording to aesthetics.
