Yeah, that's really annoying and I think its because sometimes it detects it has a head/earphone device with controls on it...

Yeah, thats definitely possible.
ross231, how many rings does your headphone connector have on the plug? 2 or 3?
Some of the 3-ring connectors are misinterpreted by different companies devices which can make things tricky.

After getting the issue again yesterday i moved the earphone connector around and it seems the music stops after that

Is there a surefire app that will test both cores?

I just got exchanged my 2 week old 3D for a new one hoping to see Vellamos or any app give core 2 more then a score of 0 and 0, but no luck, also the speaker is way too quiet, and plugging in a mini to mini cable into mini speakers to hear a song or movie still brings up the Google Mic, songs start and stop and other strange things, all this is exactly like the one I returned. Any ideas? Also is there a way to get HDMI video out of this thing.
I'm starting too really miss my traded in 4G.
Thanks in advance for any info, or help.

Check the market for an app called "Headset Blocker". Slap the widget on a homescreen and enable before plugging in. Works like a charm.

Audio is pushed through speakers while headphones are plugged in.

I can't seem to get the audio to come 100% through the speakers. Music works fine.

Touch scr

Hi, my touchscreen is useless when my charger or headphones is plugged in on my S X S. It thinks I'm touching everywhere on the bottom of the screen. When nothing is connected then it's 100% fine. Anyone else having these problems?

Your charger and/or cable are not original - am I right?

I kind of thought that was the issue. My arc was not on a standard lead.
My XperiaS is on standard cable and does not have this problem.

I just had this problem today when connected to an Audio Technica headphone. Maybe there are some short circuit happened that caused this problem?

Defective cable perhaps. Just tried my XperiaS cable in my arc and it appears fine.

New doesn't mean they aren't defective.
It means it has a flaw made in production, not that they are old or worn.
I have this same problem. No matter what I plug in. It can be charger, aux cable, headphones. All the same effect. It long presses stuff at the bottom. Meaning the 3 capacitive buttons, 4 app shortcuts on launcher and usually the space bar. It's truly annoying

well since it seems only a few people are experiencing it, I don't think it's a normal issue with the device...
I switch between Sony/BB/Whatever I have laying around for cables all the time and have never experienced this issue (along with various headphone cables: Sennheiser, Sony). It sounds like a device fault :/.
Have you by chance posted something on the Sony forums about it?

This issue is normal when the charger is plugged in, but I've never heard it in conjunction with headphones.
It is because of very low parasitic currents which occur if you connect your device with the mains (= charge it).
If the transformer is of high quality, those currents are near zero and of course it's also a cable issue. Small manufacturing tolerances can cause high impacts on that.
Seems people are having this problem with multiple Xperia devices and with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.metalev.multitouch.visualizer2
You can clearly notice the problem. Multitouch itself hardly works when plugged in, doesn't even register 2 fingers. But when unplugged it recognizes 7 fingers!
I FOUND THE POSSIBLE CAUSE AND SOLUTION FOR IT!!
In my case I removed the shatterproof sheet that is preinstalled because I stupidly scratched it. I failed at putting on 2 (two!) screenprotectors. So I decided to call it off and use it without a protector.
When testing with the Multi-touch app, you clearly see a difference in behavior when connected to the charger, headphones or any other device.
First I tried with a small piece of cloth between my screen and finger and saw great improvement. I had some old Nintendo DS screen protectors lying around and tested with those too on my screen. And surprise surprise. All problems were gone.
So my tip to all for this is:
Try a screenprotector on first as it might fix your problem!
DAMN! Why did I remove mine??
Edit: I'm getting the exact same result

I am also experiencing this issue..and this is annoying. VERY VERY ANNOYING!
I play games on my phone like all the time and damn i cnt do it with the charger connected!
Its a deal breaker for me

Wired headphones not recognised?

Hi everyone.
I have my Razr Maxx with bootmenu and the leaked version of ICS (676.226.3.XT910.Retail.en.EU) and today I was going to listen some music when I found my official Motorola wired headphones aren't recognised by the phone.
I plugged them to my PC and they work ok. But the phone doesn't even show the headphones icon, and any sound played (even music from the regular moto player or spotify) sound in the phone's loudspeaker.
Anyone has found this or knows how can I fix it ?
Could it be a kernel/bootloader problem ?
Cheers!
i had the same issue and it was a hardware thinh which my warranty covered

wouldn't that be prone to make a shortcircuit in the headphones plug?

I tried all the methods and none did work. Today I've uninstalled bootmenu/hijack and all that stuff... now it works... incredible... maybe some kernel problem? Or I was just lucky and the yesterday's cleaning worked today? strange...
Anyway, I'm glad it's working now... Spotify! there we go!
PS: I prefer Metallica or a little Foo Fighters... but AC/DC is quite good... XD
Cheers!
I have this issue too.
When on official ics from Motorola it works. But not on FTS 3 B1.2

That's weird. I have this problem too - but headphones aren't working nor on CM9 (non-kexec) neither on stock Motorola ICS (newest one). I've tried even another headphones, but they don't work either. Has anyone find a solution? Other than cleaning, because I've tried it - without effect :/

[XP] Headphone plug problem

Since search didn't help..
Must ask, do you guys have problems with the headphone input coming out a bit while the original headphone+mic connected to it and losing audio cause of that?
Just a little touch or twist is enough to make the plug come out by one milimeter to lose audio.
Haven't tested with regular head phones connector, yet.
