How to launch search button action? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have come from the nexus s, and I am seriously missing my search button. Does anyone know how to launch this action on the s3?
I miss being able to launch search in any app that supports it

If that app...Like Gmail has a search function, there should be soft key for search in those apps. i personally Never liked that damn search button so i cant say i crave to have that option back......but i do see it on some apps and on some of them i dont.

The search button in xda app should really be more visible for example.. And actually work

I'm sure that I could search in Tapatalk using the hard search button. The I can't replicate this with holding the menu button in Tapatalk either. I had read it was the menu button though.

Like Chillz88 said, long press the menu button. If it doesn't work in the desired application, it's because it wasn't implemented.

Anyway to take off fullscreen? I like being able to see my status bar when I browse the Web. Just curious.

[Q] Home button timeout

When I press home button there is like 1 second timeout before homescreen is opened. I never noticed the same timeouts on any other android handsets. Is it done for purpose? And could it be disabled, so that home button work imidiatly?
I believe this is caused by S Voice. The home button launch can be disabled in the app itself.

Doesn't really help, I've disabled mine and noticed no difference.

So, looks like I'am not the only one confused by this behaviour...
No its known and happened on s2 also, disabling s voice helps a lot but if you flash cm9 you will see it reacts instantly

[Q] Menu button alternative??

Dropped my phone and the bottom right of the screen cracked rendering the menu button useless. Is there any other way I can get the function of the menu button via on screen app or some sort, is there any way to enable the overflow menu button?
You may be able to find the functionality your looking for using LMT. You can find it somewhere on xda..in the general apps section I think.

LMT is awesome. Link to a page toward the end of the thread cause that's where I was.

For some reason I cannot get the ISAS to work in LMT. Anybody who has it working, what's your setup in the settings?

I'd never tried them before...mussed with them for a couple minutes but was unable to get them to work. I only use the pie function.

Couple of easy tasks that I don't know how to do

This may be a couple of dumb questions, but how do I do the following?
1. How do I get two apps open at once in the multi Window?
2. How do I take screenshots?
I'm running the latest Bone Stock ROM.
Thanks!

Dont know about your 1st question coz i dont use it... but to take a screenshot press power + home buttons at the same time or swipe the edge of your palm across the screen...

Hold back button to get the multi window tool open, drag an app out of that drawer to the top or bottom, repeat with another app.

There are videos that show how to do these things plus many more on YouTube.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2
Answer to number 1 is open the multi window sidebar. Drag the app you want into the main window. Then open the sidebar again and drag another app over the app you have running.
This works for some apps not all of them unless you did some mods

Thanks for the input guys... Much appreciated.
Jax you're right... I should have done a little more research first before posting. Thanks for the reminder.

You're welcome. I just watched one earlier today to learn how to set up the ir blaster. Turned out I had frozen the WatchOn app that the remote control is in.
