hi , this is my first time posting in this area ( normally im in the MT4G section)
my wife has an evo3d ( not rooted) is having problems with her stock SMS app so i was thinking maybe if i installed the same app over it ,that would fix the problem...
thing is i can't find the app anywhere so can someone link me to one?

You probably need to have root access to install sms apk
Try a 3rd party sms apk like handcent

when you say she is having issues, what exactly is going on? You might try wiping the cache and data from the actual app in the app menu and see if that helps.. if that doesn't she might have a ton of threads in it and she should clear them out. I've always seen that if you delete the thread after every 100 or so sms that go through on that thread it helps. but then again we don't know what's going on with it....

Just guessing, but it sounds like she has a lot of texts and the phone is choking. As was suggested, try clearing cache and data for the app.

nice! I'm def going to have to check this out, I just moved all my music over and completely ditched my iPod so I've been going through all the music players in the market trying to find one that I liked.
its pretty good I been messing with it for a bit. definitely a improvement I kinda dont like the auto color transitions tho lol

If i'm using Astro, all I gotta do is copy the apk to the system folder & install then reboot??
Application fails to install.
Anyone else seeing that?
Update: Installed now. Works. Not sure why it was not installing when I downloaded using the XDA app.

You do not need to put the apk in the system folder you can just install it from any folder just like you are install an app from the market, no reboot necessary.

I havent tried this app yet, but Im guessing you would just reset the defaults for the program. settings>applications>manage applications>search and tap on the app>scroll down and tap on clear defaults
Has anyone noticed the little equalizer next to the song stays on as the song is playing even when I stop the song I just wonder if this is eating up anyones battery.Also if I do decide to keep this one how can I go about deleting the old one I know it's something pulling the apk from astro but where do I find it at I'm really new to all this sorry.
It foes not overwrite the stock music app so just uninstall.

Hello,
wondering if anyone experienced the same. Just got my evo 3d today and was able to download a few apps from the market but now can't download anything. It looks like it starts and downloads but wont install. If you go to my apps section, u can see the downloads still stuck at starting download. Would like to fix without starting fresh. So far I have tried clearing the market cache and data, the download manager cache and data, soft reset battery pull.
Any help would be appreciated

Go into settings then applications, manage applications then pick the all tab. Find market the clear cache. That should fix it.

sometimes that happens to me on wifi and i just need to connect to 3g and wait
I use to have that problem sometimes on the evo but haven't had any problems on the 3D. I remember on the evo if you signed in and refreshed your google talk it would fix it. Don't know if that is still the case.

Thank you all for replying, I did a reset since i found no working solution to fix that error. This thread can be closed.
i was able to install certain apps from the market without any problems. but when i uninstall them and decided to install them back, i'm unable to. i get message in market that says that the app isnt compatible with my device... i dont get it! how can i fix this?
Hey I had the same.issue now what Rom are u using? In the rcmix3d runnyv3.3 page 565 starting just go through them me and a few others had a whole convo about this hope this gets u started

sorry it was late when I post this but the runny v3.3 rcmix3d is in the desire hd thread. But yeah it could be in the build prop settings but be careful with the change but im sure it has something to do with the I D of the phone in your file explorer in the sys folder you will see the buil.prop once your their you will see all the way to the bottom stuff like ro.model.= as example. I also have inspire 4g and i had this issue but when Capychimp updated his rom it was fix

hi negrobembon.. i didnt change anything in the build file. but i did install 'font changer'. and this does change the dpi. but, i changed the dpi back to normal and i still get the same issue.

I was getting same problem and it was getting annoying. I fixed it by logging into the android market on the web and tried to install an app that said not compatible. Hope that helps.

Also your market problem is very weird, try to restore and old backup from before u deleted the apps

orb i appreciate your work on xda.. but keep in mind that i put my question in the forum that i thought best. there are many forums here and many times ppl dont know where exactly to put their question or issue. honestly, i dont know the difference between q&a and general forum. to me theyre so similar that theyre the same. i thought i posted my question in the forum that i thought best. you cant ban or punish someone for posting a question in the forum that they thought was a good fit . its not theyre fault.

Thanks to the encouragement of a fellow XDA member (BearW815) I have finally decided to flash CM7 for the Photon. It was a adventure getting there. I already had my phone 1 click rooted - so all that remained was to unlock and install CWM. So I thought. Apparently the 1 click root and installing CWM do not jive together. So now I had to unroot and do the process all over again. The process has just been finished and chills shot down the spine to see CM7 on my photon. Not all sure what works and does not, but it is exciting to see it yet again!!! Oh how I missed you CM7!!!
Thanks to Cybik, Shabby, Mrinehart, QBKing, and BearW815 for all there help. You guys (or gals) rock and I am very appreciative. Now I have to create a quadratic class for my programming class and my phone is a huge distraction now!!!

Glad you got working. Now go through the thread and find the few fixes you need (and I do mean a few). I only needed the mms and YouTube fix and it's running 100% now.

will do, I saw that going into root explorer and adjusting the build prop to 0's. The one thing I am having a problem finding is how to sync account, and I am not able to find how to get Market installed - any suggestions??
Search xda for the newer market app and try flashing that. 3.3.12 i believe

I had a brain fart - had to think back to the Hero and EVO days - there was always a seperate file for Market - thanks to you both - I have it installed - downloaded themes - I'm doing everything except my damn homework - Damn you CM7.

Open Apns using voice search.. delete the three already there and do the rest according to this attachment.. Scroll to apn type and put mms reboot u should be good

whoops - I received a picture mail - assumed that meant I could send them as well - and we know what happens when we assume!!! So I read through the link for the MMS fix - downloaded Voice Search and said Open APNS and it directs me to a Wiki page. Am I doing something wrong??

i tryed flashing the cm7 from cybik but i think im stock in a boot loop .the cyanogen droid comes from the side the arrow goes round adn the screen blanks and repeats been doin that for 11 mins now how long did your first boot take?

Make sure to do a full wipe first before install. Data reset.
I just realized recently as in minutes ago, that my AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G has been compromised. I didn't know where else to turn, if i'm at the wrong site then show me which one can help. Just please help me with this, in some way. I'm absolutely desperate....

Backup and Format
Try to install antivirus and full scan if you face same problem Backup your Important data like contacts, notes etc complete wipe your phone
one thing I know for sure is that I have a large quantity of texts that I haven't sent. I've tried to get some legitimate logs but I keep having.difficulty. As for wiping my storage has been stuck as majority USB Mass Storage and I can't mount my external SD. I ran Dr. Web which didn't find anything except that my phone was rooted.
oh and for a split second when I opened GOsms to respond to a text I saw a whole bunch of animated emoticons floating around on the GOsms inbox screen. don't know if that means anything, but it freaked me out because I didn't intend for it to occur. and a large quantity of permissions and disk writing happened last night when I discovered this issue. Does Meta-INF mean anything?

As this is a messaging issue and go SMS is the app your using it is common sense to remove that first to test it out. Had many odd issues when i hhad used it and even brought it up in the apps thread with no good reply even though many had privacy concerns

Ohhh okay, I see what you mean now. Well I just did a complete wipe and reformat of all my phone storage, and external SD. So if I have another problem I'm gonna lose it. I used the Infuse Toolkit to do all this and used the failsafe ROM to ensure stock while maintaining root. Is there any error in all that I did? If not I'll just go ahead and do a Heimdall return to stock, then root process. Thank you all for the input though
