Yes I know this can be done.
No, I don't know how.
I downloaded a 1080p video and says, "Error Playing" or "Invalid Format"
The file was MP4
Do I have to convert it to DivX HD?
Or some other format?
Has anyone gotten to play at least 720p other than the Avatar Movie?
I know I have tried to play 720p using the converter called Handbrake. I'll test a 1080p vid that Handbrake encoded and see if it will play on my phone later. I'll report back.

Im pretty sure that our phone only plays back 720p not 1080p.
Fear the beard...
I've recorded a bunch of vids (nothing pornographic, i promise) and want to convert them from the .3gp format the Thunderbolt uses to something more common, specifically DIVX .avi. Any suggestions for good freeware app for PC to make this happen? Cheers

Xilisoft HD Video Converter 6
just my guess, it seems to covert everything
Thanks... I'll give it a whirl... I have to see if there's a setting to change the format that the Thunderbolt camcorder uses to save video files. I've never heard of the .3gp format before.

Xilisoft HD Video Converter 6 is confirmed to work, just converted a file and it was flawless.
Fantastic... I wish this app had a Thanks button... I have this in my agenda to try tomorrow and I will give you proper thanks. Cheers

I use SUPER to convert files. It's great.
Has anyone SUCCESSFULLY converted a 3D Blueray Disc to play in 3D on the EVO ?

should work the same for evo 3d
I've attempted this with 2 other programs claim to work, but the extension of file created is not correct. Looking at green hornet on sd card, it has extension .eny
So I looked at the faq you sent me (thanks) and looked at the extension it creates, its .mp4
Not sure how it will work. I failed to change the video quality settings on first run, and ended up with a 8.8gb file....so I've got 45 more minutes before the next version is ready. I put video settings on 960x540
Not sure how that will work out quite yet. I do believe that is the qHD native resolution for 3d on this unit. Anyone have different info?
Yes. I converted TRON and Christmas Carroll. I also converted sin city 2D to 3D. Dvdfab8 is what I used to make the m2ts then used handbrake to make the mp4. They work great.

What software are you using to convert 2d to 3d?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
OK. Dvdfab is the way to go. A great all-in-one easy solution. Need to change audio to 2chanel and video to 96x540. Creates a high quality video around 1.5GB
Is there anyway to convert the 3D videos recorded on the Evo3D into some format that plays back properly elsewhere? I'd like to play a few of the files on my computer/edit BUT the recorded file plays two side by side squished frames
Anyone?

Click Thanks Button If I have Helped You In Any Way
If that is too confusing a quick/dirty way of doing it is to upload them to YouTube. On your computer you can then choose to view 3d videos through one "eye" only.

I have a bunch of children's movies on my computer for my daughter but are all .avi
I've tried about 5 video players and none work. What program can I use to convert these so they will work with the video player? Will handbrake work? If so, what settings?
I use V player for all my movie watching, seems to work great on solo my.avi files.

Sorry didn't read right. AVS works well for me.
Do you mean video players on the phone? The stock one plays avi, m4v, mp4 and mkv just fine for me.

Handbrake works well for converting movies.
Do some searching - I've got a Handbrake preset that works well for the GS2 somewhere in here or General

How are these files encoded? What ROM are you using? What happens when they "don't work?"
I've yet to come across an AVI file that the stock Video player didn't play perfectly, something doesn't sound right here.

I always use Handbrake to encode videos/movies (H.264). I use the Apple TV2 setting in Handbrake. If the movie had a good soundtrack, I'll keep the unaltered dolby digital (AC3) "track" along with the two channel Dolby PLII AAC audio. Less exciting movies just get the AAC two channel audio. A feature length movie will be roughly 1GB. I store them on a media server for TV watching and load a few on my phone too. You could always go lower resolution/higher compression if you wanted a phone only version.
The ATV2 setting works great on
1. ATV2
2. PS3
3. GSII with Mobo player
The stock player on my phone had some problems with the videos (the ones with AC3 streams if I remember right). Mobo plays everything I throw at it. Free.
For the computer, VLC is an awesome video player.

I'm not sure how they are encoded...downloaded from kickasstorrents. I'm using the UnNamed ROM.

Yup, that's the preset.
You MAY likely be able to enable some features that improve quality/compression - the preset there is guaranteed but may not be optimal.
Enabling 8x8 transform and CABAC seems OK on my Galaxy Player, so should be OK on the SGSII.
At some pointas you start enabling extra compression features, I haven't figured out which setting it is yet, one setting will cause audio to lag by a half second or so.
