Hello
I know that after the change from Google Market to Google Play it is not anymore possible to detach an App from Google Play, because the important information is saved on the Google Servers and not on the phone anymore.
But when I have an OpenSource-App, like MyTracks, couldn't it easily be possible to detach it from Google Play?
What do I need to do?
I have to compile it, I guess, but where do I have to change things, that GP doesn't try to update it anymore and doesn't tell me that this App is installed already?
Do I have to change the name of the app?
What would be the easiest way?
For example, I use Camera360 in an older version 2.7 because the v3.x is cheesy and I got from the developer this v2.7 which is NOT attached to GP. The developer must have changed a little thing, but I don't know what it was.
Kind remarks,
frank

Try changing the name of the apk in the data folder. Example, change the apk name from com.example to com.example2 using a root file browser.

Not working
I think I would need to change the package name of the app (e.g. com.google.android.maps.mytracks) . Not just the apk-name.
But how could I do this?
OK, no developer here in this forum, so I asked it here, with a bit more hope on a solution:

I know it now, it's easy.
Need to sign the app with another key. Can be any other key, Google Play won't know the app after as the same and won't give updates.
The app ZipSigner can do this, has even own keys to sign.
I did it several times, e.g. with Skitch

Wrong!
This old version is a different version and it is on the market but won't be updated anymore.
By the way, I don't use Camera 360 anymore. Too buggy and no support or bugfix

AppBrain find it this app, market not. When i try to shows app details in market, but via AppBrain, then market says 'Not find - Cannot find requested item'.
Where is the problem.
In app installer.
App installer have all informations what app can be installed what cannot.
Any ideas how to change this?

I don't know for sure, but i heard that apps that you can find on the market are depends of your country. Also, i saw a programm to change your region settings in market. If you need it, i can find it.
I know about depends of country - i ask my friends to search this apps in
their android phones (Milestone, GalaxyS, G1, Spica).
Only market on X8 is blind for these items.
There is a reason for restrictions on the country.
try market enabler
search it in 4 shared "market enabler.apk"
Market Enabler is used for something else.
My problem is not depended of operator or country.
Have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742608
It should solve your problem with market.
i have the market but when i use market enabler i see more apps
for eg. "skype"

You can merge it into one yourself.
Market enabler allows you to download paid apps.
So maybe try clear the cache, reboot and start again.
Please, dont write if you dont read all posts in thread.

i have same problem

Solution found on xda (solves problem with Goggles)
The problem with applications such as Goggles or QuickMark comes from the lack of autofocus in the Xperia X8.
The solution is simple (found somewhere on xda):
1. copy to the directory /system/etc/permissions file android.hardware.camera.autofocus.xml.
2. Set permission to at least 644.
3. Xml file can be downloaded from the address http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=425158&d=1287842085 or from the attachment.
4. Uninstall the updates of Android market,
5. Reset the phone.
After restarting you can find in the Market and install such apps like Goggles.
After that an update of Market does not change anything and the solution works.
This is not mine solution (except uninstalling Market - without this step it won't work) and all the credit goes to the original author).
is it possible to make an application think it is installed from market?
does market app (now play store) keep record of applications installed from market but not directly from an apk or other sources? can that list be manipulated?
No it checks your google account to see if you made the purchase before. All that is done securely. The market will see it as purchased sometimes, but when trying to download google recognizes that you havent really purchased and gives an error. I sort of kno why you asked and you can google how to get what you want. No talk of that here though !

i asked it here to make sure nothing illegal is happening
because xplore (it's free!) suggests you to download it from market if you install the apk
but what about this: you install an app from market, you wipe everything, you install the backup of your (personal!) apk, now if it checks your google account, there is a record of purchase, right?, but xplore realizes it's not from market, i think the way it's doing this is very cool, i want to know how to do it myself
and by the way if you google ( no matter how hard) there is no cracked version of xplore!
i'm gonna think that developers of xplore are some kind of very.... genius?!?!!
and we all know there are a lot of articles about 'how to secure your app against reverse engineering and craking' but if i was in a hurry, which one did you suggest me to read?

Titanium Backup (Menu->Market Tools->Market Doctor may help.
Also, if you install an app from some 3rd party source (but don't link it to the market), you will still see it as "purchased" or "installed" if you search for it (and find it).

I really want the btwifi app to work on android TV, is there anyway I could get this to install by maybe changing the manifest or something?, Or maybe an option in app cloner I'm already unaware of?
The original APK does not install on android TV at all

This app cannot be installed due to a missing lib (INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY). I guess the app needs the Google Maps API for geo detection. If I'm right it's not enough to just install Google Maps, but you need additional files, which you can only install with root rights (look here).
Of course, they can also be completely different libs

Definitely no
Damn, I usually always root but as the shield is my tv I have one app that can't be hid with magisk that is a crucial app that I need for catchup TV (All4). I guess there's my choice lol. I might message the magisk dev and see if he can see why this one app still detects root as I know hes updating quite regularly atm

I haven't tried it yet, but with the app "app cloner" you can make copies of installed apps from your phone and change settings of them. It offers the option to inject android shield compatibility and setup your own banner graphic for it. The resulting clone might be unstable though
Hello,
I have a pixel XL updated to the android beta, and I wanted to donwload the Google news app. This app is not available in my country so I went to a repository and downloaded an APK. I installed it, and everything works as usual, the app is running smoothly, but when I close it and leave the phone idle for a few minutes the APP dissapears from the launcher. If I try to install it again the phone tells me that is already installed and I can update it, if I do that the app appears again on the launcher and I can use it again.
Can anyone help me with this? should I block permissions for Google Play services (I think that is what is messing with my apps)? or it is possible to install something to prevent this? maybe a modded apk?

Have you tried changing the launcher? Since you are using a beta, it might be a bug within the launcher.

No, Still looking at it
Obviously the app is not available in your country through the play store. The play store has that function where it verifies apps which I think is called Play Protect. Of you opted in, it could be that.

That is because the location of you play store is still set to your country, you have to change it in options. I can't do that because I have credit in the play store and doing so will take it away

I tried disabling Play protect and it still gets uninstalled
I have the stock android v8.0 installed and because yt kids is not available in my country I install it manually through an apk. But after being installed for a few minutes the app is removed
I tried turing off play protect and searching the options but I can't find what's removing the app.
Is there a way to stop this from happening in the stock software?

Is it a legit app? If you have some sort of antivirus/security it may get removed if it contains anything untoward.

Yes it's a legitimate app (youtube kids) by Google but its not available in my country. I have installed it on my other devices without a problem.
I've tried disabling play protect and the built-in antivirus is disabled.

I tried it, it gave me a very old version. I installed it and the same thing happened.
I took a look at apkmirror. It looks like they have a number of variants depending on the CPU. Which version are you trying to install? This is the CPU based off the specs I found online https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/820 but I don't know how to translate that into which variant you need.

It looks like it has to do with android 8, I tried it on a galaxy j7 prime 2 running oreo and a huawei p20 pro also running oreo, after locking the device for a few minutes it gets removed.
I created a new account using a vpn and set my location to the usa, I was able to install the app, but when i stopped the vpn the app was removed after a few minutes. when I go to the play store I find that the app is disabled and I can re-enable it from there, but it will automatically get disabled again after a while.
I'm going to try to downgrade the tablet to android 7 and try this again.
It seems that its happening to other people too
