[PETITION LIVE][URGENT]Everyone join the HTC source movement! - HTC EVO 3D

We are starting a movement toward HTC to get them to release their source code on a more timely basis such as samsung. We need as many people as we can get to do this with us because they won't listen if only users of 1 devices complains. i know others devices have been held up by htc so we are reaching out to (or at least trying to) all of the htc device forums we can in order to spread the word and get everyone involved. please take a look at the link below as it has all of the info regarding this.

Ota update

other then the original?
I read in one of the other several threads that mention it that it had something to do with the calendar.
Wait what original

Wow that's what I'm talking about sprint can you tell me everything that is included in the update
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Sprint customer service--in the past 6 years anyway--has never let me down and never fails to impress me.
The only listed item is for calendar entries that were force closing when they were being edited. Beyond that we have no information that anything else was included. The issue seems to have been enough to warrant a maintenance release apparently.

If you are who you say you are, any reason why this isn't unlocked? I mean, for real. Think about it... The devs on xda pretty much decide shoot to which phones are purchased due to the customability and let me just say, after 100's of hours of deving on the EVO, I will not be happy if the 3d isn't rooted sooner than later..
Kick it in gear and get us the unlock update

What information do you have on the (what I presume would be an) OTA that will address the crypto-signed bootloader that HTC promised to "unlock" for us?
...and if not an OTA form will it be an RUU? If not that, then what? This is a MAJOR ISSUE to all of us here...if it is not addressed to our satisfaction I don't think it is an exaggeration to say that +95% of us WILL return our phones in 30 days.
In summation, how will this issue be address by HTC and/or Sprint?

I'd imagine the fact that hundreds of thousands of phones were already manufactured and packaged played into this...not to mention the corporate rigamarole involved in software development and then the politics involved in every department, subsidiary, manager and then the same at Sprint having to play their game...

And a simple ota would solve all that. I'm sticking with my original thoughts. Seriously, how many people follow myn or virus and decide to get phone they use because of what team synergy is working on? Trust me, 2 million hits on rl5 alone for myn. Tmartin and myself watched 150k hits in a couple days when we ported the first sense 3 to the EVO.... Before kingdom... Trust me...non devs get like phones of great devs and a simple ota to unlock it is an easy fix... Not to mention keep strong loyalty for future evos... And better yet, sell a lot more once it hits xda that its rootable.
Just a thought

I don't know....XDA is a rather renowned entity these days, especially in this business. i wouldn't be shocked to hear they devoted one $12 an hour lacky to keep an eye on it...though, I'd also be surprised if that lacky had the meaty information we actually want.
...then why send him here?
But then again, Sprint reps I've talked to are universally less useful than most people on here (excepting, of course, Sprint employees who work here--never met one)...
..but then again, that would further illustrate how out of touch they are...
...but then again that would be a fantastic trolling angle...

3VO ICS UNofficial Release Date/Release Info

Well I looked around one of the posts said that HTC finished the ICS and is now sent to sprint for modifications. Aka adding bloatwares, sprint boot and etc. So if your going to complain to someone make sure its to Sprint. And once they are sent out it'll be in order by your Serial Number so that the OTA (On-The-Air) server doesn't overload. So your neighbor may get it while you don't. So don't worry. I'm going to remain locked and s-on until ICS comes out or somebody makes an ICS ROM based on the official release. So if your not rooted I recommend you do the same. Well its nice sharing all this that I know. And remember, this is all I know from twitters. Facebook, posts, sites, and everything else. Well with this I say goodbye and try to forget about the update so that time goes by faster.
------EDIT------
One of the reason for the thread is to express our knowledge about the ICS so that people don't have problems and they're questions are answered.

I would say the majority of folks on this forum probably DON'T want to upgrade to ICS over-the-air.
1. You'd have to wait until an unlock method is available, so you're pretty much stuck with what ya got (which may not be a bad thing to some).
2. You may or may not be able to "downgrade" to 1.4 HBOOT if you're on 1.6, if you have any intentions of obtaining S-OFF in the future.
3. Once it's available OTA, it's not going to be long before a full working ROM will be available on the board.
Just think hard and twice before you decide to take that OTA, and don't make the same mistake I did of accepting last time around with 1.5. I have performed the downgrade recently thanks to the hard work members on here have contributed.

Jelly Bean source code is out!

Seems this news hasn't made it to the Rezound forum yet, so I'm taking the initiative.
http://source.android.com/source/downloading.html
What I'm wondering is, when RIL is finally released for the Rezound, will it be forwards and backwards compatible? Will GB, ICS, and JB all match up and work? Or is it specific to each?
Edit: I see someone started a discussion in the General forum while I was typing this. My apologies.
This belongs in general, not development
I'd bet that the ICS RIL would work with few or no modifications in JB, but then again I don't know a thing about Android development.
Sooooo yeah. JB is pretty sweet. Before I lost my Nexus, I had JB on it, and it was AWESOMELY smooth. Even pure stock was awesomely smooth

Getting sick of these posts saying this is why people leave XDA. If you all want to leave then leave. We don't need to see this post over and over and over again!
How is your post any better then people posting what should be in the development section.
You obviously are not in a hurry to leave because you are still posting here so stop with that BS already!
And if you do decide to leave, XDA will still run just fine without you. I would much rather see jayochs stick around.

Jellybean?

First I apologize if this has already been asked, I'm using tapatalk and don't know how to search.
Anyway, I realize development takes time. I'm not asking for anything, I just want to know how things work. If anybody can provide insight on how the OG Evo has Jellybean already but the Evo LTE doesn't. I know part of the ordeal is source release and from my understanding the kernel was already released.
Is it because the OG still has wider dev support and not all the devs have made the switch/migrated yet? Is it because we're still waiting on new source to be released?

We have very few devs working on porting jelly bean. They have it booting, but thats pretty much it. OG Evo is a better known device and its easier to port things to because the devs already know a lot about it. For us we have to deal with a lot more unexplored things. Rest assured, it is being worked on and CM10 will be here eventually.
There are a bunch of different factors involved. Each device will have different devs working on different things. Many developers support multiple devices, and so we may not always be the first focus.
Ah that's a good point. I can see that now, things still need to be mastered regarding the device. Thank you for the reply and insight.
Welcome to the Lakers, Antwan!

Could always build a in aosp or cm from scratch...then follow a guide I've found for porting sense...so I would find a similar device running 4.1+ android with sense 4+....and follow the guide while figuring out quirks a step at a time.
Thanks to a fellow xda member I've seen a devipered version that worked flawless for one exception, which I've already resolved on my end.
If I have more time I'm going to do some investigating to see if I can't be of use...time for this is hard to come by lately....I was thinking the gallery app could be modded to include the 3d rendering and flip the panel on....we shall see. In the meantime I'm going to keep in touch with the guy who gave me this build and see if he'd be willing to try it out...after all I don't think anyone would mind if a americanandroid member built a cm10 from source and provided it to this guy to try porting to. Right?

Seriously everyone is getting into a pissing contest over something that is based entirely on open source code (android, Linux kernel).
Unless you want to build an OS and kernel from scratch people need to chill and let the end users have the best available rom.
By this logic we shouldn't allow sense roms to be posted without getting permission from HTC.
