So I posted this little mini review over on Google Plus and thought I would share it here.
Remember I played with this at 1am in the morning so it's probably not that in depth! LOL :silly:
Got my +Chameleon Beta email and installed it around 1am LOL....couldn't sleep....I have restless leg syndrome, sucks. Ended up until 2:30am playing around with it.
It's not as impressive as I thought it was going to be, to be fair it is in beta. But 5 widgets doesn't seem to be enough to properly test this thing.
A few things I would suggest to +Chameleon .
1. Make the grid resizable to smaller areas so you can fit apps on your home screen if you want.
2. Make the grid accesible to other widgets not just +Chameleon widgets.
3. Get rid of the dock or make an option to get rid of it.
4. Allow users to set their own wallpapers not just +Chameleon wallpapers.
5. Check your Instagram widget because mine worked for a few minutes and then stopped, even after taking it off screen and putting it back.
6. Allow for scrolling left and right not just right, the homescreen on a regular Android is center and you have other screens to the left and right. With +Chameleon you have the homescreen justified left and can only scroll right.
7. Allow for wallpaper to show in app drawer.
8. More animations needed when scrolling.
Overall this has potential as long as they can make widgets for several and I mean several applications. Such as Google Plus, Flipboard, Pulse, Currents, facebook etc etc.
Right now I still prefer Nova Launcher by +Kevin Barry because it offers so much more customization and options.
+Chameleon please don't take this is a bad review because it isn't. I realize this is still beta and I hope my input could help you out. Thanks

Interesting to read/see as I've been curious about this launcher. I've probably tried every launcher and yet this one slipped by until I heard about it a month ago or so.
Used to be adwex only, but since development on that stopped Nova prime by teslacoil has been my go-to.
Interested to see how chameleon turns out, hopefully it doesn't end up another niche like spb, tsf, ss, or hi. Always nice to have options. Wouldn't mind giving them my money to try it out. Lol.

I'm the same way, I've tried everything including the expensive ones, TSF and SPB....like you ADWEx was always my go to....but Ander Webbs still supports ADWEx as far as I know. And Nova Launcher is built on top of ADWEx......but yeah Nova is my go to now....Kevin Barry has good apps like Widget Locker...and now Nova....top notch

I was under the impression non tablets were not supported (per website). I suppose as long as the resolution is good, it'll work.

It's for tablets only. I'm using it on my Iconia. Though I did hear someone side loaded it on the note and it worked. But they did change the dpi.

I loaded it on my note and it worked flawless!! it worked on stock 320 and on tablet dpi, no issues.

I know I'm super late on this thread but I side loaded it on my Note and it works fine, I was kinda excited about it but it doesn't have many features so I uninstalled it.. I will install it again and post shot of my screen..

Surprised to not see this posted here. If you guys want to try a VERY impressive launcher, anderweb has upped his game. This really does blow ALL the other launchers out of the water. I think most of you know I am a HUGE fan of LauncherPro Plus.... well, this has replaced it for now:

Strongly encourage the following:
Make sure in gestures you make swipe up show the hidden dock. A lot of people at work did not realize there was another dock! Swiping up for the hidden dock, and down for notifications is awesome!
Play with all of the screen transitions... I love them all, hard to decide on a fav (I use 3 and 7 a lot).
If you think it's missing something, it probably is not. Its in the options.
Be sure and backup once you get your settings how you like! I just flashed axura and restoring was very quick.
the miui theme will NOT work if you have Quick Book installed. NO clue why.
What ADW themes do you recommend?
I gave it a try. Wasn't really impressed. Still the same ADW, just with a lot of bells and whistles. I still prefer how LauncherPro does it.
Its ok. The widgets on LPP give me a clean organized look. With ADW I got a bunch of mismatched messy widgets. To each his own I guess.

I thought you guys knew this existed and just shunned it. I love it. and there is a bunch of.themes to make it mimmic your tastes. this has many options that make other launchers seem like bullishet. I love it. max icon size for home screen isn't my taste so I set them to eight and I also got the theme that looks futuristicly chrome on my black bg. can't beat this with a bat. plus im learning apk edits... lmfao
I bought it...very customizable....but still no matter how u set up everything....or even if you use the "fast" its not close to being as fast or smooth as launcherpro plus....back to LP plus

^^ no man, last year I did a review of all the launcher's, and I felt I was very complimentary/truthful regarding ADW. I do feel ADW EX is a tremendous step forward though.
I hate the initial setup though. Takes a lot of effort to get it perfect... Thank God for backup/restore.
EX definitely looks like a giant step forward. I may give it a shot, but not until Fede releases is LPP rewrite in the next month.

There are actually several sets of widgets you can get that do a good job at filling the role. They are all theme-able and can be made to look like each other. Dont get me wrong I like LPP for other reasons as well, but the nice sense clone widgets are not that reason.
What I am waiting for and what a lot of XDA ADW fans are asking for is the ability to change the dock background image without needing to edit/build a new theme on the PC. Anderweb has acknowledged that and we may see it sometime soon.
I don't know if it is my phone or not, but it runs flawless with Launcher2.
Whenever I replace it with LP plus or ADW EX the lag is present when scrolling the drawer - though EX seem to be a lot smoother than LP plus.
My setup: nerov3+voodoo.
Anyone find the free version that was talked about in the video?

Same with me. Ive tried ADW a few times. Even having voodoo on my phone it still doesnt run that smooth. LP is so much smoother that I just cant switch.

i tried ADWex....it just didnt feel fast to me. It felt a bit slow compared to the regular ADW.

the FREE version is just called ADW launcher. just search "ADW -theme" so you'll have an easier time finding the launcher instead of looking thru a cluster of themes.
OR you can use appbrain and install from there

Hmm, any live wallpaper turns my phone into a lag galore no matter what launcher I use.
I am keeping ADW EX in hopes it will get more updates, and I already have LP plus to compare it to

I'm using adw ex right now. It does seem to have more lag opening the app drawer, but I love the customization. The iphone theme is great, but needed a little changing up here and there.

UPDATE: Nova is out of beta and is even more sick than before Definitely worth the measly $4 (if nothing else than to support the devs for making it so sick).
Nova Launcher, as I'm sure most of you have seen, has been updated to Beta 14. It brings fixes for our lovely Rezounds. I've tried it on 4.0.1 and 4.0.3 and can confirm that they both work. The annoying FCs when trying to add widgets and such is gone! It's sooooo smooth and an amazing addition to all these great Roms. Head over here to download it. Don't forget to give Kevin a big thanks for helping us out!!!

Can someone please tell me why this launcher doesn't recognize transparency? I just want to use custom icons in the dock without having a black background.
Nova Launcher is beautiful, but i'm a little concerned about the 14 update.. it asks for permission to access paid features? What is that about?
Does Nova replace the HTC status bar with an ICS themed one in the ICS Sense ROMs?
I'm running nova launcher now and it's great tried apex as well but it was less customizable.

It's the ROM, not the launcher. That's an issue with all of the ICS ROMs right now because it's just a leak. If you go to settings>developer options and then change the screen transitions and animations or something down to 1.5x or 2x, it'll help a little. Not much else we can do right now besides that. You can also try forced GPU rendering on 2d stuff. That seems to help a little also.

Lol, you are all over the place. I've seen this exact post like 3 times or something. But to answer your question, I have no idea. I wish I knew because it is slightly annoying. I've just been using a black background for now until I can figure it out.
It just seems when I installed nova it got way worse!

The clock is Beautiful Widgets with beautiful home set as the widget. Then the skin is redcashmere. The red stripe is actually a dock. I was using ADW Ex at the time using (I think) DarkEdge Red theme. It was one of the docks on there. If that wasn't it, you might want to try Red ADW Theme from Sean York or ADW theme: BBT Red from Bujoban or Digital Soul. I can't really remember right now since I'm not using it anymore, but I think it was one of those. (All of those are great themes for ADW anyway).
I'm getting an error when trying to install. Problem with parsing the package? It's like it doesn't recognize it as an apk. Any ideas? I've downloaded it 3 times already

Are you trying to install it as a system app? I generally just leave mine on the root of my sd card and install from there. Still has all the functionality that a system app would have. You might want to try that if you haven't already. If not, I'll upload the version I have on my sd card (still version 12) and see if that works for you. You can then just update it after that to beta 15.
EDIT: Here you go. Just download this and put it on your SD card. You'll then have to update it to the current version in Nova Settings. Try that out and see if it works for you.
Not trying to install as a system app, just putting it on my ad card and trying to install from there. That one did the same thing. It's the only app that's done it...

When you are flash-o-holics like we all are, it's definitely hard to keep track on what you are running and have installed. LOL!
My fav launcher by far! Got the paid version nice prime features lobe the swipe commands and all the cool guy transitions
Backup feature is stellar too!

Im in need of a new launcher :/ i currently have launcher pro plus but doesnt look like its gunna get updated anytime soon. i have tried go launcher but it was meh. i have heard great things about ADW though. Opinions?
I have used all of those launchers, and I keep coming back to ADW. I think it runs the smoothest, has great theme options, and more customization options (IMHO).
I would definitely suggest try it out. The great thing is that you can download Homesmack, which is an app designed to help you toggle between launchers easily. That way, if you don't like ADW, you can easily switch back to another launcher.

I have used a bunch of other launchers and I use both Launcher Pro Plus and ADW EX. LPP is my main launcher and ADW is used as my car dock in landscape mode. No other launchers really suit me. Even though LPP hasn't seen an update for a long time it's still the fastest and smoothest launcher to me.
Regina Launcher is not and got some nice options
Hi Launcher is amazing and is completely different from other launchers, instead of changing the homescreen, you can change part of it while keeping the other part as it is.
ICS Launcher by Team Syndicate is very good
I dig ADW Ex. I've been using it way before I even thought about rooting my phone, lol. It has vast customization options to tweak your phone how you want it. I can't go without it

nitro includes a customized version of launcher 2 in eclipse...the newest eclipse that should be released soon has some cool launcher options like infinite homescreen loop 3d app drawer, scrollable widgets etc...

I used launcher pro for quite a while, but after going without an update for months and months, I switched to go launcher. I liked go launcher, but there was a small delay whenever I clicked on the app drawer. Eventually I purchased and switched to ADW launcher. In my opinion, it is the best of the 3 I tried. So many themes available, and so much you can customize. Also runs the smoothest with a live wallpaper running.

I think launchers like launcher pro, ADW, Go Launcher, etc. are pretty much all the same. You get the multiple screens with widgets and an app drawer. I get bored with that stuff sometimes. I've enjoyed Go Launcher. But when I get bored with that, I switch to Launcher 7. Its really nice if you theme it right.
GO Launcher is kinda nice. I used it for awhile and really enjoyed all of the GO branded apps it allowed you to use. Im currently using ADW EX and I like it quite a bit. GO felt a little too gimmicky and unrefined in comparison to ADW EX. It wasnt as smooth. There would also be random times when GO somehow wouldnt work and I would be reverted to my old launcher.
If I were you I'd try the free version of ADW and GO then you could make a better pick.

Here's what I look at when I unlock my phone. The second row, first icon is my live contacts tile. The tile below that is my music tile. Which I use the new "live photo" tile to cycle through band photos (MXPX at the time of the screenshot) and acts as my music tile.

I have the Telus version (I717) and with any Launcher (Go, Pro, ADW) I get any standard WP to scroll (if you enable it properly in the Launcher). But I cannot get any Live WP to scroll?
I have been reading on this, and there is a lot of confusion, we need to be specific about wich Launcher and what type of WP (Live or Standard) and if standard your image have to be wider then 800 (preferably 1600).
So my understanding is the stock launcher (TouchWiz) does not have the scroll function, it needs to be added with an app or a launcher. I tested that Pro, Go and ADW sroll standard WP fine with the proper settings and image. But so far there is no way to have Live WP to scroll (for those Live WP that have that feature).

same for me, even with zeam. however i find the very narrow wp selector super annoying (assuming thats a TW issue) because on other phones the selector is easily twice as wide and doesn't blow up the pictures like crazy.
any fix for this?
If you are rooted you can replace the selector with one from another phone

After some spotty work at a local shop i cracked a ringland. ..ate itself from the inside out
I was wrong about the ask to replace. Its gallery3d.apk
Change the original to gallery3d.bak and paste this one there...this will give you the widespread selection/option. I am still working on a fix for scrolling

If I fallow the replies, it appears that they are related to the problem with Standard Wallpaper, but the issue that I was refering to when I started this tread was about Live Wallpaper with a scrolling feature that do not work on the Note.
Does anyone have any idea on that subject?

Im using the 3D Melting Candle wallpaper which matches the 'theme' of the lockscreen (which I have not yet figured out how to change).

i'd say both are a problem, and thats what is being worked on.
I am getting closer. I am still working on scrolling. I think I have an apk for setting the wallpaper and correctly sizing it to the phones resolution without zooming in. ..just trying to fix scrolling

Sorry, are you saying that the the problem with the srolling of the regular wallpaper is the same as the problem with the srolling of the live wallpaper or that they are both problem?
I beleive that they are totally different problem and as such should not be discussed in the same thread.
So again, does anyone have any info around the problem with the Note not being able to scroll LWP when you swipe from a home screen page to another?

lol your post is so absurd.
Complete differentiation of scrolling wallpaper and live wallpaper saying they shouldnt be discussed together is like taking your car to a mechanic because of a steering problem and refusing to acknowledge anything other than the tire could be a problem, ignoring the wheel and the rest of the chassis.
To top it off as that mechanic works on a full solution you are sitting here sucking your thumb demanding to address the tire only.
Seriously you are so self entitled you should be ashamed. People have at least been trying to find a solution and testing and you haven't done anything but complain that one aspect of the greater problem isn't fixed yet.

I was asked about this on the general forum CM10 thread, not my work at all but just want to share the original 200+ page thread for those of you not aware. There are many derivatives of this add-on, but out of 10+ similar add-on's I have tried this one works most flawlessly. Launcher is 4x4 but as a result it works perfectly with accuweather widget. Even our own Note 2 is ditching the extra column and I like the bigger icons showing more icon detail on this over having more icons on the same screen.
Unlike any other package I have tried, this add-on when flashed with CWM morphs the actual system UI and core apps like dialer/MMS into S3 touchwiz look. It is also based on the new Jelly Bean leak so has speed and fluidity advantages. Just download 1.3.3 (last item on the download section) from mrmad.net, flash, wipe cache/dalvik and enjoy! CWM is required unfortunately to morph the system applications, without it you will just get launcher, widget and miss the dialer/UI tweaks. I tested this with quincyatt CM10 M2 and it works perfectly, and should work with all CM10 based ROMS (Paranoid, AOKP, etc). It has everything you need, just works and there is no messing with RWXX permissions!
Like many of you, I find Galaxy S3's nature UX to be a huge selling point. Note 1's gingerbread UI screamed "cheap iPhone copycat", but S3's touchwiz UX was so good that I would have stayed stock if Samsung treated their customers right and gave me the same visual treatment when they gave us the ICS upgrade. I love the new accuweather widget and I find it much better than any of the sense-inspired widgets I have tried, and I love the way they made Android feel warm, natural and inviting.

No, this is just a launcher. From what I know, those other apps require TW framework and other Libraries that arent in AOSP ROMs. It's a launcher like Nova or ADW. Only affects the homescreen and app drawer

tried installing snotes... no go
there is a smemo app came with the launcher... but no pen support.
I have a great lust of alternative apps for snote and memo paid and free I don't miss touchwiz in that aspect just miss stable builds . But I rather have a ROM that plays my games at full fps than slow n sluggish

Its works fine must have fixed it.
And the s3 boot animation u can get from anywhere just use romtoolbox to stretch it to our resolution.
