yep I've tried different 3g radio versions with very little luck... I guess here in my hole ,,, er,,, I meen at work ,,,, I just have pathetic reception
elsewhere it is marginal to moderately OK to live with...
only real thing I HATE about my skanky jellybean fassy with EC09 radio
I seem to at least get 1X signal compared to nothing or hunting and killing my battery,,,although I now mostly leave it plugged up 21x7
Tested EH03, and ED05 also
Order Oldest to newest -- I think??
1: DL09
2: ED05
3: EC09 (gingerbread radio)
4: EH03 latest "official" radio
I get terrible reception at work too. I've found that EH03 gets the best though.

Go to settings, then about phone. The radio is listed under Baseband Version.

You can't update your prl through a froyo rom on the eris yet, but flashing a new rom shouldn't change the changes you made on the 2.1 rom, if I understand your question righit about the battery, 1st step- search forums for recalibrate battery step 2-read post and follow instructions

That is for the epst app we do not have one that works with froyo. Flash the prl in plain Jane and flash up the roms don't change the prl. Also keep in mind that the bars on the froyo roms are liniar instead of the "optimized" versions found in stock and sense Roms the signal strength is the same just appears lower

I've read that using the eb01 kernel and DL09 radio can improve battery life in SC 2.8. Truth?
myth..
however i wouldnt try any other radio with eb01
Give it a shot. Easy enough to do the switch and you can always go back. The presenter of that configuration is a trustworthy source here on the forums.

dunno about battery life yet .. going to wipe bstats in a few . i can say that it improved my data connection tremendously .
Actually, it's highly probable. Especially if you use gps. It's a commonly known fact DL09 had the best gps lock of any other. Dunno about data connection speeds...
being a noob, I don't want to mess up how my phone is working right now. I used adrynalyne method to flash my phone back after 2.7, to stock. Flashed new CWM, flashed 2.6 then 2.8 voodoo, used eb01 kernal, and enabled lagfix. I also have EB01 midnight/steel blue theme rocking. I would like to get back to dl09, becuase of the GPS performance. Do I need to do anything special before I do that, or just find and flash it via CWM. Voodoo is the part that makes me hesitant, and that fact that I use my phone as my modem, so I mess it up, I can't access this forum to fix it.
Thanks in advance.
Chopper posted a .tar. I'm on voodoo too , just flash via Odin in the PDA section.

As stated above by lucas.scott use odin to flash the tar file using the pda option. And below are links to both so you can undo it if you should feel the need.

do I have to worry about voodoo? Or is that just the kernal that i worry about? sorry for the noob question.

Haven't seen any difference in battery life . But GPS went from taking 15 minutes to sync on eb01 , to about 2 seconds . So that's well worth it in my book .
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Update to sc 2.9.1and you won't have anymore gps issues. I lock almost immediatly.
Any improvement in reception, battery life, data tranmission (i.e. reliability and speed)?
I tested it for a few hours, and noticed that my MMS died. I could not receive MMS messages, it would stick on downloading. Of course after that, I went right back to EB01 modem.
Hmmm I haven't had any mms problems. In fact , I was experiencing data drops on eb01 . Dl09 cured that for me . Crazy how different phones are reacting so differently .

Honestly though, I should test again. The MMS in question were from my girlfriend who is on T-Mobile, and I have often experienced bull**** from her MMS with T-Mobile. So that may be it, I might test further because most people say DL09 is sweet.

Hey everyone,
This is just the modem (radio) file for ODIN. This way you can download this modem separate from the all-in-one ODIN. At this time, I would recommend this modem, but I would NOT recommend the EC09 ROM as it is buggy.
To extract this file, you will need 7zip. It is one of the best zip/LZMA/tar programs for Windows. http://www.7-zip.org/
Instructions
Download 7zip from the link: http://www.7-zip.org/
Download ODIN if you haven't. http://adrynalyne.us/files/odin/Odin3v1.3.exe
Download the package below, and extract it with 7zip.
Open ODIN, and connect your device with the battery out while holding the volume down key.
Click PDA, and select the .tar.md5 file you extracted.
Click Start, and it should flash to your phone.
Put battery back in, and {optional} via Clockwork Mod flash NAMELESS v4 or whatever custom TW Gingerbread ROM you wish! jt1134's CM7, andmer's MIUI, or your ROM of choice.
MD5
ec09-modem.tar.md5.7z = 5ffd2b3ce243948493de400c61230435

UPDATE: I added a poll on what you think about EC09's modem.
UPDATE 2: It is recommended to use this modem when running jt1134's CM7 (and I assume andmer's MIUI). Certain things will either not work or not be stable if you use ED-series modems on CM7 mtd due to jt using parts of EC09.
Happy Flashing,

You can try it. Radios are independent from ROMs and kernels. I haven't tested it, but I don't know if there is a reason to have this radio over say ED04 for MIUI.
Andmer is on ED04, so I would say stick with ED01, ED03, or ED04 radios.
Use this with CM7 mtd and MIUI.

Results on the irc are mixed as far as data speeds. Some had great. Others were clearly slower. You just have to try it for yourself. Your mileage may vary.

i don't know if radio version effects GPS but changing from DL09 to the EC09 radio gave me a more accurate position. Went from around 100m error inside my house to a 30m error. I did notice that i cannot maintain a fix on all the satellites, constantly dropping one or two and reconnecting. I don't have this fascinate on the network so i cannot give any feedback about data speeds
sorry if you find this nooby
but why do we need 7zip , this file extracted fine with winrar itself ?
This radio has made a huge difference in battery life when in a marginal signal area. I mean HUGE. I went from killing a battery in 8 hours to it lasting over 24 hours. This radio is magic.
Has anyone tried this radio with com rom 2.x? I don't see why it wouldn't work, but one never knows.
If not, I may try it for giggles once I'm near a computer I can use to revert if it breaks everything..

This modem is oddly awesome. I get better data speeds and signal strength. NO missed calls or anything. AND Google Sky Maps runs 20x faster (NO **** TRY IT). Also I was running TOP from adb shell and the accelerometer seems to actually take less cpu.
Updated to EC09 from ED04 on ComRom 2.1, and don't have any complaints so far. I often get an extra bar of signal, and while my download speed is about the same, I seem to have picked up a healthy 150-200kbps in upload. The real test will be tomorrow at work where I get almost no signal...
EDIT: Yup, love this radio. Getting 1 solid bar with 3G working at work, whereas before I would get absolutely no data connectivity and a soild 90% time without signal
um for some reason i cant flash this.... it alwaise fails... tried like 30 times now literally 30 fcken times
Flashed BAMF Sense 3.0 GB RC3 and noticed that I never get 4G LTE service unless I manually go in an set to it using Das BAMF Toolkit or LTE switching app. Then it will acquire 4G LTE service and I can switch it back to CDMA+LTE/EvDO-auto and things seem to work ok from there on out. Anyone else have this happen?

sounds like a radio issue to me. flash another one and see if it changes.
I was having this issue using the kernel that came with the rom. I flashed up to the 2.3.0 dream kernel (an updated version of what comes with the rom) and noticed that the 4G using the cdma/lte auto was close to flawless.
Note that sometimes it did drop to 3G, but it seemed to be an issue caused by juicedefender constantly turning the radio on and off.
Also, if you're on mr2.0 switch to mr2.5. Apparently it has much better luck with 4G.
Best of luck, and as always, anything you do is at your own risk.
I find some ROMs I have 4g issues with MR2 and I will switch to MR2.5 and it works. Sometimes the opposite occurs. It's a strange deal.
On 2.5 and no issues with 4G.

Are you currently running the most updated 605.19 stock radios?
You ARE if you go to settings, about phone, software information, more, and the baseband version reads 1.49.00.0406w_1, 0.01.79.0331w_1
If these are not the numbers you see, flash these radios from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24992678
If these are the numbers you see, then it should be working properly. If not, you may have installed an older version of Eternity. Check to make sure you flashed the most updated one.
Or the 4G in your area may be simply going in and out. Try flashing another ROM to verify this.

I'm pretty sure the LTE radios they used were from the 2.11.605.19 OTA. They may have flashed a different CDMA radio, but Idk. The leaked LTE radio causes most phones to reboot a lot.
Here's a link to the combo radios though. I suppose it never hurts to try them out... the outcome varies by phone.

I've even had luck with the old 2.11.605.9 radios.
Try them if you'd like.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396408
Just be careful flashing different radios. If you flash a bad radio, it can brick you.
Also, I was always told to never flash the same radio that is already installed. So if you flash the .9 radios and they are currently installed, don't flash them again until you flashed a different radio.
