Gallery full of black thumbnails - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, my gallery is not detecting properly anymore the images on the phone, showing most of them as black thumbnails. I would like to reset the data, so it also synchronizes everything with picasa, because also those show as black thumbnails. So far only the camera folder and the whatsapp images show. The other camera folder (the one in the other memory) is showing as black.
How could I do this?
Thank you very much!

go to system--->apps-->"all" tab...search for picassa and gallery and in both clear data in it. reboot and let media scann finish scanning (can take several minutes)

Check how much space you have on your SD card(s), when youre running out of space it doesn't show thumbnails in the gallery properly.

Muchas gracias! Deleted Gallery data. Couldn't find Picasa though. Still no luck. Also deleted data for media storage. Apparently this one worked after rebooting.

[Q] Gallery Question..

I am running TnT Lite 4.4 (Love it).
I have moved some pictures onto both the internal sdcard and sdcard2. But gallery does not pick them up and display them. It sees my picasa pics, but nothing local.
I do not see any options under Gallery to set a local directory.
Does nayone know how to configure Gallery to look at a local dir for pictures?
I'm seeing the same thing. So far in searches I haven't found an answer.
Additional behavior, if I browse to a picture in the file manager it opens with gallery, but the only controls that work are the zoom in/out. The more and share controls will briefly show and then disappear if you long press.
Me too...
I have been having Gallery problems for some time now, about 2 weeks to be exact. I get no thumbnails, and no gallery found. Nothing I have tried to do will show the pics on my gtablet. However, if I go into an app like RootExplorer, and go to the folder with pics, I can get them to be displayed by apps like Just Pictures, etc. Even Gallery will display the individual pics but very slowly.
So far, have not been able to conquer this problem. I was told to add a folder named .nomedia . But that did not work.
It's aggravating not having Gallery working.

[Q] How to get rid of Picasa albums in your gallery?

UPDATE: CONFIRMED. CLEARING DATA (Settings -> Apps -> All -> Picasa -> Clear Data) DOES NOT DELETE ANY OTHER PICTURES ON YOUR INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL SD. = SAFE. IT JUST GETS RID OF PICASA ALBUM.
*** Also make sure you un-sync Picasa albums or it'll obviously come back. ***
When you initially sync your gmail account (from the very very beginning when you first get the phone) there's no option to select what to sync and what not to sync...
So although I go to "Settings" -> "Accounts and Sync" to un-check the albums, it (Picasa) still shows up in my Gallery...
How do I get rid of Picasa albums from showing up in my gallery?

Go into the list of apps and clear data from Gallery.
If you have sync turned off, it won't come back into your Gallery.
I just tried it now. Warning though, I do not have Google+ set up on my phone, which may or may not do some funny things to your Gallery.

^This + reboot.
Thanks for the reply.
By clearing the data it'll rid all the pics including the non Picasa ones....
Do you know how to just delete the Picasa albums?

Clearing data from the Gallery does not clear all pics off your phone. I have my pics safely stored on the SD card.

[Q]Add folder to picture gallery

I changed the storage location for the pictures taken from the phone's camera to an external SD card. After I did this when I open the gallery application the photos that are stored in the new location and any new taken from the phone don't show up. Is there a way to manually add the new location of the photos so I can seem them from the gallery? TIA

They should show up. Did you try rebooting?
Very funny. It was almost as if there was some sort of issue with the SD card not being able to see the files. It was as if they were deleted. I unmounted/remounted a couple times and rebooted and they finally showed back up. Thanks for the reply.
edit: now all of my timestamps are incorrect, but much better outcome than not having my pictures at all.
edit 2: quickpic application has a feature to use the metadata from the image instead of file timestamp. back to normal.

[SOLVED] Deleted pictures reappearing

Hi all,
Just wanted to put this information out there in case anybody else is pulling out their hair trying to figure this out.
PROBLEM:
Using the Google Photos app, upon deletion of pictures, a restart brings the pictures back. Occasionally caused corrupt pictures.
SOLUTION:
When I stopped using the photos app and used the LG gallery app, all seems to work fine.
Steps I took to resolve:
- Factory reset (5 times) - DIDN'T WORK
- Deleted 3rd party apps (Keep safe - Hides photos) - DIDN'T WORK
- Cleared gallery cache - DIDN'T WORK
- Deleted Photos from Googles Photos app - DIDN'T WORK
- Deleted photos from Gallery APP - WORKED
I found if you use a photo app that hides pics it usually hides them in the internal memory. So if you go back and pull a picture to hide that's located in your ext sd card it will just copy it. Best bet when wanting to delete or move a picture you are trying to hide make sure it's in the internal memory first.

Gallery bug?

is there any chance in here you experience bugs in gallery? Everytime I delete my photo there is a residual file that always remain. I don't know where it is located and by the way I clear all cache, clear all data with each individual apps. even delete all the files in the internal storage which left me nothing and guess what it's still there it's kinda annoying when you are uploading a photo in Messenger cuz it keeps showing. a gray photo with an exclamation mark with a message saying error loading media. any help would be appreciated. I'm using pocophone F1 running on miui 11
