Basically you can flash any ROM but you will have to get 3G and MMS working. If you are on Sense 2.1 ROM now, download apn backup and restore and backup your current APN's. Also make sure you have 3G before you flash a FROYO ROM because you will not be able to get into diagnostics mode when on FROYO. Ill post the steps I did to get everything working. Download a ROM you want and put it on the root of your SDCARD. Also download Token's Cricket V10 zip file here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730289 and put in on the root as well.
In Amon Ra's Recovery:
1) Back Up Current ROM (ALWAYS DO BEFORE ANY CUSTOMIZING)
2) Scroll to Wipe Data, select it, then select Wipe Data/Factory Reset
3) Scroll to Wipe Dalvik Cache and select it.
4) Scroll to the ROM you downloaded and put on the root of your SDCARD and select it
5) Once its finished Select the Cricket V10 file. When everything is done reboot your phone.
6) Once your in the phone download autostart root and apn backup and restore from the marketplace.
7) Open apn backup and restore and select delete apns, then select restore apn's and select the one your backed up previously.
8) Reboot the phone and once the phone comes back up grant autostart root superuser permission.
You should have working 3G at this point. If your MMS doesnt work then I can work with you to get it working. Hopefully this helps...
Ok I just got it yesterday but my web and mms don't work. I think it might be the apn do you now what the correct settings are? I tried flashing cricketv10 but with no luck

What plan are you on? Android smartphone, all-in-$45 plan.?
It does matter. It sounds like all-in-$45 cause if you had the android plan your internet would work automatically.
One thing you should have done was check this "full flash" immediately to see if it truly is a "full flash". In my world a full flash is a fully functioning phone talk/text/internet/mms. If all this didn't work when they "full flashed" the phone you got taken.
If you want your Eris on cricket fully functioning xtrasense 4.6.5 is a great ROM for that. Everything you need is right here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730289
Just make sure that your settings are right in ePST otherwise you'll never get it. I know my Eris if I *228 it, it reverts to Verizon in ePST. Do you have the evdo or 3g symbol next to your signal strength?
I've got the Eris fully functioning on xtrasense with/without Android plan and also with froshedyo with/without Android plan.
Now if I can just get the mms to work on Gingerbread on the Android plan. Can't get apn right. Working froyo apn doesn't seem to work.

If you do it will work. download the cricketv10 and follow the instructions in the thread. Once you do that it will work.
When you get it working thank Token for all work on this. You'll need to download autostart from the market.
But like I said before. Seems to me you got taken at the store. $60 and all they did was change your PRL. You could have done that yourself by just downloading the PRL to your sdcard and then updating it in PST.
Anyways hope this help. if it still doesnt work check to make sure they provisioned your account properly. I have had several issues in the past with them not setting up the account properly.
i cant get autostart to work, it doesnt ask for root. i have to use root explorer to get data. how can i get the script to run on boot
I had the same issue with Autostart with certain ROMs but never with xtrasense. Thats why I stuck with it for so long until I got on the Android plan.
I never figured out how to get it to run on boot but I only ever had to go into root explorer and run the script when it rebooted. So I just did that as little as possible.
Other than that it works tho?

FYI if this helps, or even if it doesn't, you can see the MEID number underneath the battery. I find that you usually have to use the HEX version on Verizon's website. I don't know if this will help you, however, because flashing ROMs does not affect activation status.
Is this the number you're looking for?

i was running the factory default phone, i wiped everything and flashed the rom i linked on it, i can receive calls, voicmails, texts, mms, the internet is fine, but its not connecting to the towers near me, its picking up off different towers and the person at verizon said i need to change the SID number to 30730 which i know what one to change and i know where it is, i just cant access that part of the phone to change it because i dont know what program number to use.
flash the official RUU and start fresh possibly can fix the problem and re-root then flash new rom

To my knowledge, the ROMs do not alter any activation state of the phone* - that stuff is held in a hidden partition (the "mfg" partition, I suspect) in the flash memory chip that are never touched by any of the usual ROM flashing operations. That's why you can change ROMs and maintain the same activation and PRL data from ROM to ROM. So, I don't know why your phone's tower association would have changed if was working correctly before flashing a developer ROM.
*The only exception to this is if you perform a factory reset with the stock recovery on the phone - that does clear the activation state of the phone. The "factory reset/wipe data" menu entry of the custom recovery doesn't touch activation data or PRLs, though.
If that's what happened, then you might have to temporarily revert to a stock ROM - just don't use the factory reset procedure on the stock ROM before you re-root the phone. (BTW, you could certainly use the March 2011 OTA stock ROM - installing it won't overwrite your custom recovery, so you can simply do a nandroid backup/restore to get back to your current setup - no need to "re-root" if you do that.)
There's probably something I don't understand about the situation you are describing, unless it has something to do with towers that were acquired from a different carrier (Alltel?) by Verizon - under normal circumstances, your phone would prefer to connect to the best signal within it's home network, assuming that there are not other problems that prevent that from happening (such as call congestion through a certain tower). Perhaps the towers you want to connect to are actually considered to be "roaming" by the PRL you have on your phone, and that's why the more distant VZW towers are chosen?

i will try this but before i do i'll try to explain a bit more, when i call the normal eris programming number, it tries to actually make a call instead of giving me the option to go into edit mode, now when im on the stock rom i can do it but as soon as i flash any other rom on it, it doesnt allow me to do so. i had a rom from a droid 2 on it and when i used the droid 2 programming number it worked just fine and i could edit the info. hope this helps clarify a bit, and thanks for the help

^This sentence confuses the crap out of me. I read it 5 or 6 times, and have no idea what sequence of operations you performed. I only have a vague idea that you can't get something to work.
If you can't access the EPST menu, how can you see what the settings are?
Here is what everybody has said so far (basically the same thing, but in different ways) :
- The EPST menus are generally not available in custom ROMs, especially any of the AOSP (Froyo/Gingerbread) ROMs. You need a stock, or near-stock ROM to be guaranteed that they will be available
- The same thing is true of "secret dial code menus". They don't exist in custom ROMs, unless those custom ROMs are nearly identical to stock ROMs (that is, directly derived from a stock ROM).
If you want to try it, you can flash either a RUU or PB00IMG.zip file - these operations flash a "nvram" file (*.nb0), which conceivably resets PRL and other non-ROM settings. After doing that, and fooling with EPST using a stock ROM, you will need to re-root.
As I mentioned, you should not run a "factory reset" procedure on your phone after you have configured what you want (with EPST) when there is a STOCK recovery on the phone.
Beyond that, I'm sort of mystified why you are unsatisfied with a phone that appears to be working normally. (What application are you using to determine cell phone tower? Are you inferring that from location services (Google Maps) with GPS and WiFi location services turned off?)

I apologize first if there is already a thread for this. Mod please delete if there is. After going through 10 pages of related articles I still couldn't find an answer. I want to go back to GB because the leaked LP1 ICS is a little buggy. When I flashed the GB files through Odin everything went through fine except I had no data. I tried different kernels and modems thinking that might work, but to no avail. I'm in the US using this phone on AT&T. Can someone point me in the right direction as to which baseband I should use. I also checked the APN and everything there seems to be correct everytime I did this. I also went to Sam Firmware to look and couldn't find anything for North America or even US for that fact. Any help would be appreciated.
Have you entered your networks correct APN settings ???
jje
That was the first thing I checked. What did throw me off a little was there were three different APN settings. Phone,WAP and Broadband. The settings were "darkened" so that they couldn't be edited.
I'm also having trouble finding a UGK Firmware
Think I found it
Well I figured it out in case this happens to anyone else. a lot like the Droid phones from Verizon, when flashing back to stock and not receiving data, you have to go into the stock recovery and do a data wipe then flash the firmware via Odin, well worked for me anyway. Once booted, everything was good to go. Word of advice before doing so,write down your APN settings in case you have to manually put them in
I have a quick question because I've run into a problem I can't seem to fix.
First, so everyone knows what I'm dealing with:
Phone: i717
Changes: Rooted (Shows super user access), CWM v5.5.0.4, Unlocked (Tested)
Rom: Stock AT&T Rom
Sim Card: Works in a T-mo branded Exhibit II 4G.
I flashed a radio (tried KID, 0331122 from the radio thread in the dev section, and reflashed the original AT&T radio).Even w/ the original radio installed, it cannot seem my T-Mo sim now.
Do I need to flash a new Rom or what? Wipe data to factory reset?
I would rather not change anything w/o asking since flashing radios seems to be a straight forward thing that most ppl have done w/o touching the rom.
Thanks ahead of time.
Mine worked with a rooted stock rom at first it didnt see the sim then i tried searching the network under wireless and networks it took a few minutes but then it came up.

don't forget if you are running an ICS based ROM you need an ICS based Radio/modem.
EDIT: i see you're running the original GB rom so you need the GB radio.
give it a few minutes to find a signal or go to settings/mobile networks/network operators. choose manual. then let it search a few minutes. then select t-mobile.
I find the Blaze 4G radio worked best for me, but depending on your area, your results may differ. try em all.
You guys are insanely fast.
I'm currently on the stock radio & I'm still getting the same message after letting the sim sit in the phone for 9 minutes (yes, I watched the clock, lol):

Where should I go from here?
Edit: Is the answer flashing another rom? Maybe something has become corrupt? I don't see how as I've read & re-read walk thrus for doing this to make sure.
I've done a little more reading. Flashing the beta ICS rom flashes to the old AT&T modem.
Would this be the best bet?
Edit: After looking through the "about" phone...
I'm on 4.0.3
Baseband: Unknown............. that's really bad.
Edit 2:
After reading, I needed to back up the EFS. No where is this stated anywhere, unfortunately. That contains IMEI and everything else.
Edit:
So, after reading MORE, the IMEI number is on a sticker behind the battery, along w/ the S/N.
Huh? Efs? I dont even know what that is nevermind backing it up. Goto clockworkmod and flash the radio.zip and reboot. Thats all there is to it.

If you look up EMEI number related to flashing the radio, there's a lot of hits.
XDA has a thread on it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352371
I'm quite shocked it's not mentioned everywhere as this happens to people now and again.
I have my IMEI number, i just don't know how to input it into the phone.
As for flashing the radio, I've flashed 2, then back to the original. To no avail.
Sorry never had anything like that. I would almost odin back to stock and start over. You dont need root for the sim to work on calls and edge with tmobile.

If you're baseband is unknown don't worry just flash a stock at&t modem and it should go back to normal. Your imei is under a different menu in about phone..the status one.
Also its no ones responsibility to tell you that modifying your phone may break it.

I did flash back to the stock AT&T baseband as stated in the original post.
If I go to About Phone, the Baseband Version is unknown.
If I go to Status, the following are listed as
Network: Unknown
Mobile Network: Unknown
Service State: Out of service
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
IMEI: Unknown
IMEI SV: Unknown
I've backed up the EFS that I have no just so it doesn't degrade further. I'll try to flash again and see, but I still think the EFS is borked.
I'll see what I can, but I think I'll the EFS is borked beyond flashing it to normal.
My point about the EFS back up is that most ppl here don't seem to know what it is. It shouldn't be that foreign of a topic since flashing a radio is obviously problematic for some. I've seen other posts concerning no IMEI after flashing radios on forums other than XDA. It's odd that it's not mentioned as a sticky everywhere.
Backing up EFS would solve a lot of head aches from unlocking / radio flashing woes. I'm hoping this info will save a few people a lot of time and money.
After more digging, I came across this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646326
Synopsis: Basically, he followed the same guide I did. The only difference is that I flashed the radio while using a stock AT&T rom. Once he flashed back to GB (saurom), he gained back his baseband / IMEI.
This is what I cannot figure out:
CWM will see and flash any radio file I push to my note. If I push a stock AT&T rom, it won't see it. If I put the rom in it's own folder, it seems the rom, but states there's no files.
Is CWM corrupted? Why would it only read firmware to flash radios, but not android roms? Should I just go back and install CWM?
I've searched all over & used google, but I can't find a thread discussing this.
Fixed.
This problem has nothing to do with any of the radios corrupting the EFS folder. Albeit, it's always a good idea to back it up.
Flashing back to AT&Ts stock rom (2.3.6 or 4.0.3) never fix the issue. You will always be stuck w/o a radio, at least from what I've seen. Even flashing back to the stock radio fails. I don't know if it changes the EFS, but AT&T's rom does not like it and shows no IMEI & a bogus SN .
I had to go back, flash to saurom and a compatible GB (or beta T-mobile) radio to get te work fine. ICS radios work fine on ICS.
Saurom and GB radios dont work in my i 717 trying to connect to wind. I got a CM 9 ICS build and ive tired a bunch of radios. they all failed. i keep getting no sim errors. I can see the operator but when i select it it times out and says it cannot connect to the network at this time. it also says interset sim. Im positive it is unlocked.
Modems(radios) or basebands should have nothing to do with whatever rom you are running. Whether they are GB, ICS, or JB modems, they should all work to a degree, at least for phone call ability. I have flashed many different radios trying to get the best function of my att note on t-mo. The best I got was using the Blaze modem. That got me 3g hspa.
The worst will be just giving you edge speed. My note is unlocked and has been on JB running blaze ICS modem working fine. Maybe you need to start over, evaluate what you have, and go from there. There are great threads on att over t-mobile. Good luck.
I picked my rom, and started flashing 5 or 6 radios, and found what one worked best on t-mo.
Presently, I have switched back to att- sort of- straight talk. I'm not thrilled with the speeds. No higher than 4 mbps DL, and 1-1.5 UL. Thinking about going back to t-mo and dealing with the slow UL speeds. I'm on an ICS rom with the ucle6 modem.
Also, flashing a rom does not change your modem. You have to physically reflash the modem you want. Some modems show up as unknown under the baseband. Blaze is one of them.
Another thought- sometimes a reboot will get your sim recognized by your phone.

This is yet another case of the "no sim" bug ....
Damn I wish we could find the answer to this issue, but none exist .....and for some users the return to complete stock even fails to recover service ..

Really what an incredible unlucky glitch.I got my note for only 360CDN good condition but missing the stylus, even still it was a good buy. I'm on Wind mobile, T-mobile here in Canada. I even gave it to somebody who's done a bunch and they ran into the no sim problem. I guess I'll be going back to my HTC HD2 and sell the note .

So just to confirm I have followed the process correctly over 20 times and no matter which cm9 cm10 based rom and any ics or gb based radio will allow connection or recognize the sim to the 1700 aws network. With a cm9 based rom I can see my network, but it will not allow connection like the phone is locked, even though i have unlocked and tested the phone on other networks.

Had to replace the TMo SIM card with a newer one today. Solved the problem of "No SIM".
I know this is old
I have the same problem with "NO SIM." One day i flashed so many things to my phone and one time i turned it on i got ATT on the top right corner and everything was good. I made some phone calls and texts and even browsed the web. I restarted the phone to check if it was just a fluke and it was. Ever since then i cannot get it to read my phone, but i know for sure the hardware works.
I’m a previously proud owner of a Droid Razr Maxx - xt912 CDMA version.
I followed Matt’s instructions on flashing the December JB leak with root. It worked great since January until recently…I’m not sure what happened but I lost the LTE part of my Baseband. Now I have can’t get 4G. I tried following someone’s instructions which included using RSD to flash an older ROM (was supposed to correct my baseband). …ended up bricking my Razr. I managed to restore to stock JB using matt’s “batman” utility using option 1….still missing LTE in my baseband.
I don’t even care about being rooted anymore, though it would be nice. I am just trying to restore my 4G. I live and work close to Boston and have always had strong 4G connectivity.
Steps taken
Did the *#*#4636#*#* and made sure my preferred network type is set to LTE/CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA
In My Mobile Network Settings I made sure my preferred network mode is set to LTE/CDMA
I did the *228 and *22899 and received on screen confirmation
I’m leading towards it not being setting related but the fact that I am missing the LTE portion of my radio as shown in my phone baseband version info below, however, I have not found a way to get the LTE back on the phone.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
