Tweaks on ics - HTC Amaze 4G

I was wandering if here's any tweaks for ics stock that I could flash on my amaze ? N I saw this question before but no one gave a good reply sooooo ???

Yes but without a custom rom, you get stock issues because most tweaks require a custom rom - or deodexed roms in particular.

I would also like to be able to add tweaks to a Stock ROM myself rather than having to use a custom ROM. There are many reasons for it e.g.
* Ability to select the tweaks I want rather than a bundle based on the ROM builder's liking
* Ability to add custom Apps that I use more often vs what the ROM builder finds useful
* Ability to flash the kernel of my liking that goes together with the above two points
* Ability to theme the ROM/startup animation etc based on personal preferences
It would be great if all the available tweaks, Apps, Themes and build.prop(s) are documented and summed-up in a how-to thread for those experiences users who want to do it all themselves without having to spend countless hours/days sifting through the forum gathering the latest/stable versions of the tweaks/kernels etc.
Thanks for your valuable comments in advance.
P.S. I did find a bug in EnergyROM (1st August) that I will report shortly in the dev thread

ability to add custom apps? why would using a custom rom stop you from being able to add apps of your choice? you would add them the same way as on a stock rom, while at the same time the custom rom won't be fuul of bloat like the the stock rom.
ability to flash the kernel of your liking? how would a custom rom stop you from flashing the kernel of your liking?
and ability to theme rom/startup animation> again i ask, why wouldnt you be able to do this on a custom rom? if you are using a custom stock rom, then it still looks stock and you can make all the theme changes etc that u want to it
idk, none of your reasons make any sense to me

My goal is to save time. Rather than having to try "X" number of ROMs and tweaking them, it would be nicer if one could mix'n'match a ROM according to one's liking. I had to spend so many hours just to try out each ROM (and do the back/restore of my data/apps) for each one that it is no longer funny.
So, like the GApps updatable zip file available and the Beats Audio zip and the Sony Bravia Engine zip, if the various tweaks are also available as zip files, it would a matter of minutes to apply them on the stock rom to remove and customize rather than having to flash the whole system. Hope it makes more sense now!

Well then you might as well learn to cook them yourself. And I really would like to know what bug you encountered on energy... It is basically stock and you can apply the tweaks you want.
Never mind about the bug, I see your post on the energy thread.

Make a nandroid, flash on full battery, if you have too many issues, restore nandroid.. back to stock (im)perfection.
Say what you want about other roms by other developers for other devices.. we may not have 20 developers pumping out 20 Roms a week, but we do have developers who put out very very solid work you can count on. Just change ONE thing at a time, don't flash a rom AND a custom kernel unless it was included with the rom.. many users here are flash happy and quick to blame some random thing they flashed, when they flashed too much too quick to know what is truly to blame.
Check my signature for the Bible, it has all the roms listed and much more..
If you want cutting edge features try a rom by eclipse remix(speedrom jellybean for example), but because he pushes the limits of what our devices can do, they can have little issues.. but nrg and Arhd roms are extremely stable, and close to stock(they didn't remove sense), so those may be what you're looking for.

[Q] New owner, what is the best ROM available?

Which ROM out there has the best support and the least flaws? I know none will be perfect but I would like a ROM that is fast, stable, and has optimal battery life. I know i could use the V6 Supercharger to make a ROM faster but I would like to know what ROM you guys recommend? Thanks
For the 10 billionth time: It's really up to you to figure this out. Considering that there's only 4 custom ROMs available (for the 7510), I think you are capable of doing the research yourself.

I'm going to second the in paris v5, I just rooted and flashed and couldn't be happier. There is one clich that I found and that is on some web pages in browser it will not let you go back with the back arrows, small problem but so far the only one I see.
Task650 makes the best ROM.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
check out the dev. forums, do a little research. If your asking you shouldn't be flashing roms really. All v6 supercharger does in most cases is mess things up
So avoid flashing supercharger? It doesn't take a computer genius to flash a ROM, I just don't have the time to flash every ROM and mess with it, thanks for the positive responses though.

I have yet to see any real proof that the supercharger script actually makes this thing better. I have flashed and run all of the different ROMs, and its really up to you as far as look and feel are concerned.
As far as support goes, I will say that Task and Phantom has been great in keeping us bug free, but I have not interacted with the other devs as much, and so I won't knock their Roms because I can't say what their level of support is.
Happy Flashing
Overcome is good too
I will say that I like both in Paris and Overcome. In Paris has a custom theme which I'm not fond of but you can install the touchwiz theme over it if you prefer. I like Overcome because it is the stock honeycomb theme.
It's really a rather personal choice so you do have to try more than one to decide.

[Q] Exynos, Turkbey Rom or something else?

So I just bricked my arc, (I will never again stray from XDA) might go out and buy an SGSII.
Which custom rom should I install from the brief looks I have had, I really like the Astetics of Turkbay it looks beautiful. Exynos seems to be where the functionality is at.
Advice Please

first you can check the screen shoot of each rom then compare the feature of each one... and go on to install what you like.... after test you can decide to change or stay.

was using exynos before going to checkrom, very happy with the change
I was using MIUI for it looks, but I lost all the functionality and I wanted to come back to stock rom but it sucks. So i found three roms i want to test out.
Hydroxygen by Paradoxxx
WickedRom by Chetan Mohanty
The GingerMod by 89luca89
WickedRom is stock with a lot of changes and upgrades
Hydroxygen is AOSP. Very fast, used with void .echo kernel and its simply the best.
The GingerMod looks very nice as I want an AOSP interface with samsung framework
Trying WickedRom and I'm pretty happy!

Exactly. You will find so many people that like Variable 'X' ROM, and other's that love Variable 'Y' ROM.
There are so many great ROMs out there. It's up to you when it comes to your favorite. Just try keep trying different ones until you find one that you love.
I love viperROM, MikRunny, InfectedROM Eternity, Warm TwoPointThree, MIUI. That's not every one of my favorites, but those are some.

AOSP PB9 from Deck. All working except Camera, 4G nad 3D. HW is about 90%, Wifi, 3G, BT, all is working very good. OC up to 1.94 ghz. Good ROM to try
Sense: inbREDed ROM is smooth and fast, MeanROM is another one. Both have all stuff working without problems. MeanROM is more stock look while inbREDed is a fully themed ROM, ledroid tweaks, 2 MPx in front forced. Also, OP is working on 1080p recording

The two ROMs I use:
Mean ROM: everything works. Uses the Ziggy kernel which is stable with great battery life. Very active dev (new release every few days) and very active user community. Has Beats working without the headphone hiss. This ROM looks mainly stock with some addons included or flashable.
Nocturnal Adrenaline: everything works. Uses the Anthrax kernel which is slightly worse on battery, but a little better in performance. Active dev (new releases about once every week or two) and active community of users. Less stock look since Leedroid tweaks are built in and some of the widgets and apps are inverted.
I flashed version a 2.2 ZR3D rom and it is great. Really sped my phone up!

X2. I am not new to rooting, but just recently finally rooted my Evo3D. Tried several different ROMs. I found that Mean ROM was very stable, very quick and snappy, everything works, and very active dev, as stated before. Many that use Mean are changing to the Anthrax kernel to go even faster, but the Ziggy kernel that comes stock on the ROM works great, and is a huge improvement over stock.
I AM looking forward to an ICS ROM that has everything working. Every time I try a ROM with something as a know issue not working, I think it will be no big deal to do without. Then I find that is the feature I miss the most. So I choose to stay with fully functional ROMs. Just my opinion...

Most stable rom?

I just ordered an Amaze for $250 and I am pretty stocked, coming from the mytouch 4g. I noticed that a lot of the roms appear to not have data working. Is there a complete ics rom you would recommend to flash for the first rom? Also how is stock ics rom?
Sent from my Dark Unicorn Resurrected v.2.5 using xda premium
Stock rooted most stable and is the best rom for this phone imo. ARHD was my favorite deodexed.
If you want mods and a different aosp look.. you can do all that yourself on one of the two above with flashable mods and nova launcher.
Its probably best to read up on all of the ROMs and try them yourself to make your own judgement. This thread will just lead to a few devs shouting out their own roms and their fans following close behind. I know this because this isnt the first time a thread like this has appeared. Im sure u searched before posting though so no worries

I agree with GG
go stock rooted, or ARHD. The phone on ics is pretty darn fast

For ICS, I'd suggest ARHD (as previously posted). However, for Gingerbread, I'd suggest BulletProof. BulletProof is what I was running prior to migrating to ICS.
Thanks everyone I would definitely flash ARHD first that is after I get a feel for stock rom. I also found the the Amazing guide stickied on the dev section to really nice. I hope to see it explode pretty soon

I tried most if not all ROMs. If you want ICS I say go with NRGs stock Rom with faux new kernel. Been my daily driver for a few months now except the kernel that just dropped. If your gonna be on GB then I also 2nd Bulletproof.
Patiently waiting for some CM9 or 10. Which looks like we'll probably have by August, September.

Whether you use energy with or without stock look, it is the rom I keep going to.. I never have issues with it. I debloat the hell out of it mind you, I don't leave rosie or any other sense feature, but as far as stability, battery, etc is concerned, it is my default rom of choice, and I have tried them all pretty extensively.
If you get the latest build you have to make sure to increase the minimum clock speed to 384 which just requires two little edits in the init.post_boot.sh file in the system/etc directory.
And despite what GG said, even tho I love him(no homo), I am not a fanboy by any means..
I use hd revolution on sensation and amaze. On amaze, it will give you out of box ui but in back processes, lot of optimization were made.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Used ARHD when I had my amaze 4g and never used anything else, that was when it only had GB though, now that I got a GNex, I'm still using ARHD, one of the best Roms out there, no problems whatsoever, stable, and Mike is an all around great guy who puts much care into his Roms. (Not to say that others don't, I've used so many Roms its unbelievable, just like everyone else, and all devs are AWESOME!!!)
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
My word isn't really needed at this point, but **** it - Android Revolution HD (ARHD), just like the others have said.
Trewyy
Engery Rom is thee best choice
Energy Rom is the best in my opinion. I tried both clean rom and ADRHD or whatever it is call. I like Energy because it is Stable. Battery life to me is awesome, especially when I use my hotspot, Bluetooth and playing Poweramp plus I do play games and etc... Anyways that what I would recommend. Personally choose whatever fits your needs and do not go based off what we say. Remember the most popular rom for the Amaze may not be the best or work for your phone. Not all phones are created the same.

I'd like to know which of the 2 ROMs is most like stock and basically, which you prefer and why. Not looking to start a war thread here so keep it civil, options more than welcome though. I'd like to make use of the following features so if one doesn't have them, please let me know:

I love sense personally but always love to try new flavors of android, overclock is done with both, by modules and kernel on cm10 and by module on sense, however a sense kernel release will take place next week by me
And about wake on volume, if it is necessary, use viper

Viper is awesome but I don't know how anyone can prefer a sense based ROM over CM...

I personally like CM right now, though both are excellent ROMs in my opinion. I just prefer the overall "feel" of CM and I love a more stock experience...I find Sense a waste of resources that could better be placed elsewhere. though you can opt out of it with Viper. That being said, I would give them both a try and see which one suits you better! They are both amazing, it's really just a matter of preference...

Hopefully this is the right section for a question like this...
I'm currently running stock ROM, s-off using Dirty Racun method. I'd like to switch up to a custom mod because I'm frustrated by the lack of customization on stock. I'd like to know which of the 2 ROMs is most like stock and basically, which you prefer and why. Not looking to start a war thread here so keep it civil, options more than welcome though. I'd like to make use of the following features so if one doesn't have them, please let me know:
Wake-on-volume
Overclock

if you prefer aosp: cm
if your prefer sense: viper
that about sums it up
Make a NAND of both and enjoy the best of both worlds. Problem solved
I'm using viperLTE with infernal kernel and I get great results

switching back and forth
What are best practices for switching back and forth between CM10 and Viper? NAND backups, but what about Titanium? Can that be used to preserve SMS messages? Or is it too unreliable to do titanium backups between the different types of ROMs? Thanks for your input.

you shouldn't have a problem with titanium between the 2 roms just make sure you fix app permissions
PACman, paranoid kicks ass
I have reached that point where I no longer care for the benchmarks and stuff. I don't use my phone for intense gaming or app usage anymore so as long as the ROM is smooth, can do some multitasking briskly and has no to little bugs, I am ok.
Currently, my favorite is CM10.1.2 because it can do gapless playback in Google Music and I am a sucker for it! I am a fan of PAC-rom too but I am not sure if it is stable for our phone.
Go for CM10.1.2 with a 3.0 kernel for the best of both worlds - stability and the latest Android (mdm series CM 10 is great).
Personally I prefer the CyanogenMod ROMs (more official to get deeper) because you can customize the hell out of them. They do have the overclocking you are looking for, and yes, in one of the recent updates, they put in wake-vol-buttons. I like it because the themes are just awesome and the support is excellent. Nightly updates and nightly fixes (for the most part). There are somethings that I would like CyanogenMod to fix such as the external SD card usb mass storage not mounting on PC. That is a major drag. That is the only thing that I can think of right now that I hate about CyanogenMod. Hope this review on it helps!
