I haven't stopped stalking the AOKP and CM9 forums, and I've observed that development seems to have slowed. Is that because Chad, Meadows, and a few others have bricked their phones and are waiting for replacements?

short answer: yes. Long answer: no. They cant dev since they have no devices, but they also are waiting ti make sure all us other dont brick too. i mean it sucks when devs brick their own phones, but bricking other peoples...
^ that
and
waiting on HTC to release the linux kernel source. We should not have to wait long. There is a thread on general about having htc release sources in a timely manner for all devices.

this is a vigor aosp kernel. it would be compiled with cm9, as opposed to a pre-built one. i would advise you not to use it as its a major WIP and may brick your phone.

Max is the current maintainer for the Amaze for CM9. He's had a number of small updates yesterday and today alone.
I'm working towards having a build with working hw OMX ready for the weekend. Camera would be the only major lacking feature.

CM9 is a fork of the android 4.0.3 operating system. So yes, it's ICS, derived from AOSP, with no Sense UI garbage.
http://bit.ly/zAuapn
This is probably the most exciting news I've seen on here in a while. Now the real question is, is CM9 for the amaze coming out before HTC send out their ics update for us? I'd be curious to see what HTC does for us, but if it comes out after CM9, then there's no way I'd even think of trying it out.
Very Nice... Just came from the Evo3D on Sprint... Looking forward to this.
Thanks for this post. I've been pretty infrequent here lately due to the lack of S-OFF and all of the variations of Sense based ROMs and all the ICS-themed ones. I looked for xboarder's ICS ROM thread a while back but that looks like it was deleted so i thought there was no more progress. Faith has been restored!
This is pretty awesome. Cant wait to give it a shot.

This would be interesting, assuming CM9 is stable, I would definitely use it as a daily, even without a camera/BT/NFC/etc. However, I can imagine that the official release will be running on a 3.x kernel, as where I'm SURE that Max is using a 2.6.x kernel right now.... This all being said, I'm sure having the kernel source to the official release when available will help bring a 3.x kernel to the Amaze.
TL;DR
Assuming it's stable on a 2.6.x kernel, and most things work, I'd stick with CM9 regardless.
If it's (CM9) lacking a ton of hardware features, I could see running the HTC build till CM9 hardware support catches up.
Also, a CM9 alpha WILL be available before HTC releases/leaks anything, that is almost guaranteed.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but aren't all CM9 builds considered "beta"? So by them freezing the builds, that means they're close to having an official release of CM9...this is a good thing for us since once our kernel is released, it'll be easy to have a very stable port of CM9.

You and me both
Ill say it again.
Show me a fully functional AOSP ics rom.
Driver issues, Rosie (HTC crap) issues.
As with many devices you're only going to get a half ass version of Google's latest OS.
Only reason we have any ICS based Roms on Amaze is because HTC actually did all the work.
Sorry I respect Hasoon, Whatever that young kid that got chased off, and others amazing work on the handcuffed Amaze. Its just that frankly these threads are full guys begging for ETAs and the devs saying hold your horses! Almost there! When the reality is OEMs have sucked the open out of AOSP. There's very little one can do without climbing massive hurdles anymore. Just face it.
If I'm off base or if there's some spectacular change in reasoning as to why JB will be any different ..please correct me as I'd love to be wrong.

Are you referring to a jellybean release from HTC themselves? I would say the answer to that is slim to none. Even if HTC did release jellybean themselves for this device, I'm sure they'll decide not to include everything we need to make things harder for us to develop.
If you're talking about a jellybean release from our wonderful devs on this forum then like Hasoon said, don't ask ETAs for ROMs. The ROMs will come when they come. It just takes some time to develop because HTC decided not to include everything we need to have things working properly.
who knows... HTC may have spys lurking around here... can't really tell... but i agree "patience".

Honestly I don't think that HTC will ever opensource the drivers we need. If you look around at other devices, you'll notice the same pattern is happening with other devices such as the Evo3D. They were having the same issues with kernels as we were earlier. Which makes me think that HTC must really not care anymore.

I'm wondering if there is anything holding back an AOSP build for the HOX+. I've read that it might be lack of kernel source, S-OFF, or a driver related issue. I've noticed a lot of Sense-based ROM's pop up lately and I was just curious if there's something we're waiting on before a AOSP ROM can be possible, or if it's just lack of development. I'm coming from a Gnex so I don't know a great deal about subsidized phone "hacking".
Lloir is currently working on CM10 and has said he expects it to be ready before the end of the year.
