[S] To anyone who doesn't like ICS - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Try the 6.1 branch. Seriously. They fixed most of the bugs reported here.

In the end what would you suggest? As far as I know the latest 6.1.A.1 is the 6.1.A.1.58 Generic TR (Turkey).

Just a question, why is it that the latest release to come out that as of us ( UK/Europe) goes out to somewhere like turkey. First?
Dont mean any offence to anyone but just wondered why and not a generic European release.

@ K900
did u have a chance checking Bravia engine to see if it works or not?

i didn't see any improvements in speed. apps still need seconds and seconds to load up. ill stay with CM9/CM10 till sony releases a proper firmware or jellybean. can't be bothered with their bad software anymore.

everything working great in .58, even bravia engine

Quick question for you guys.
I have a locked BL and I had to use the "Downgrade to GB, root and upgrade" method to get my phone rooted. Is there any way I can apply this update with Flashtools and keep the root but gain the benefits of this Firmware completely without sacrificing anything?
Your help is appreciated.

Ah man, got to go through the whole process again and probably repeat when JB arrives
Anyway I could skip going back down to GB and proceed from ICS onwards and maintain Root, or is that just not possible?

I tried .58 and Mobile Bravia Engine doesn't work for me.
At first, I was using 2.3.7 then I upgraded the phone to .452 using Update Service, but Mobile Bravia Engine was still working.
After I flashed another region of .452, Mobile Bravia Engine never worked. Even for .453, .58.
Only 2.3.7 works.
I have two Xperia S and I'm experiencing the same problem on both Xperia S.

Looks like I'll stick with GB a little longer and wait for the bugs to be ironed out.
I think in general, people do want to update to ICS (for all sorts of reasons). It's the instability and bugs that they don't like. (you will know what I mean if you have owned a LG Optimus 3D)

This is most likely caused by some firewall or other security problem blocking PCC from downloading necessarily components. Check if you can temporarily disable these and try again. I think that should do it.

SK17i: upgrade to 4.0.2.A.0.58 before or after rooting?

Hi,
I'm currently running 4.0.A.2.335 on my Mini Pro,
I've been getting the message to update to .58 for a couple months now, but was waiting to update because I wasn't sure if I was still going to be able to root.
So simple question: update before root or after?
Grtz!
Its not important, important not to use internal wi-fi updater when bootloader unlocked. in any case you must get root after every update, because all data will be removed

You cant update your phone to .58 if your phone currently rooted. You need to unroot first then update then reroot back.
So the answer is update first, then root

For my own information: do you have an AZERTY SK17i, and if so, would you please do me a favour and post your /system/build.prop (after rooting of course, can't access it otherwise) here or in my thread?

Nothing has been changed yet (phone is not rooted and hasn't been flashed yet). Stock can also mean, 'running SE firmware' as opposed to a custom ROM, regardless how the SE firmware was installed.

Rooting Xperia S

Good day, XDA. I'd like to ask help with regards to rooting my Xperia S. I have recently bought this and it got shipped with ICS 4.0.4 and build number 6.1.A.0.45 and I updated its build number to 6.1.A.2.45. I have also unlocked its bootloader successfully. Now I'm having problems on how to root this. I've read certain posts regarding ICS rooting and they all state that it has to have 6.1.A.0.45 build number. But I don't know how to rollback to the previous build number. What should I do?? Please help..

Also, you can never brick your device on LOCKED bootloaders so don't worry

i am currently on .10 fw and camera quality is pathetic..and games like neckbreaker does'nt run properly..which runs very good in devices like samsung s duos..what is the use of buying this "a9 dual core with mali gpu"..

What I experience in .54 is that the performance is better, when I was on .10 I need to restart it daily to keep the ram free. For the .54, I can turn on my phone as long as I want. Just that SOMTIMES it can get laggy but after awhile later it goes back to normal, I was very disappointed when it was in .10 if I had to make a call it would be like a pain in the arse. I can still live on in the .54 fw.
Hopefully the next JB update will be better.
