Hi,
I have an Xperia U which suffered a broken screen from something being dropped on the phone. I replaced the screen but since then I seem to get the following charging problem.
If the phone is ON, it will not charge from USB PC or Mains charger, despite the phoning showing a charging icon and reporting 'Charging' in the Battery parts of settings.
If the phone is OFF, it will charge. During this charging, if the phone is switched ON, the phone will continue to charge!.
Any ideas please?
Gavin
I think you misunderstood something.

Basically, if the phone is on when the charger is connected, the phone shows that its charging but it doesn't charge, the battery continues to drain.
The phone only charges when switched off. Whilst it is charging I can switch it on and it continues charging.
I guess to summarise, if the phone is on when the charger is connected then the phone doesn't charge!!
Any ideas?
Gavin
Even i face the same problem

I have same problem Have you solved this problem? I think that problem is in microUSB connector...
Wipe all data and re flash the firmware. If your bootloader is unlocked fastboot the kernel again too

no, this is not a solution; I`ve tried another charger, USB cable, battery, factory reset, flashed new firmware... problem persist... at service center told me thad USB connector have no problem, so is the chance that problem be in CPU?
I had this problem with the new 3.4 kernel on the XS you see. It was because I flashed and didn't fastboot the kernel. Thought it may be the same for you
When you flashed new firmware did you completely wipe the phone clean?

No... bootloader is locked and not rooted
If you done nothing to your phone like root or unlocking bootloader then I think it is hardware defect
... But can't say about it...

Charging via USB on PC it is possable the phone will use more than the usb port will supply. Charging from the wall is another story. Battery should not be draining while plugged to the wall at all. I have never seen any what you call Stutters on my phone. It's the smoothest operating device I have ever owned (including 2 iPhone's). Maybe you should consider a return before it's too late.

I am charging from the wall and I have had the phone for about a month now I don't think I can return it, The Source has a 14 day return policy for cellular products. The phone was running smoothly until recently and I'm not sure whats wrong with it.

You could try charging it with the phone powered off until its full, disconnect the charger, boot it and plug the charge back in and leave it until its full again usually just a few minutes, your battery calibration may be going wonky, You may also want to factory reset the device after doing this. If none of this helps then you should start making calls to resolve it.

I have a problem when my HTC one is not really charging. In several hours I got only 4%. I tested it with battery widget and it barely gets 10-100 mA when charging. Once screen is on, mA goes negative, even though phone is plugged in. Maybe I too need to put it face up...

Update:
It finally got fully charged with ~600 mA input. In my case it appears to be a faulty charger. Check your charger, test it with different wires, maybe it has bad connection? Just a speculation.
Anyone experiencing unresponsive touch screen/ typing into the keyboard screen not getting what is it supposed to show when charging? I notice this a couple of times when charging and its very annoying. I think mine is defective/Software bug? Build Number 17.1.A.2.69
This happened on my previous Galaxy S2. But i haven't encountered it yet for Z2.

I plugged it to my laptop via usb it seems smooth and responsive... I put an adapter to the charger itself and plug it in to the socket and it seems normal.. I don't know if the stock charger have defect? Can anyone explain this? Thanks
Found the culprit if I charged the phone into the stock charger it goes unresponsive opening notification bar etc... When I plugged it out the phone and plugged it to my laptop seems normal and goes back to its responsiveness.. I hope the charger is the defect need to buy one to test it out again..
