Cyanogenmod 9 roaming problem - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hello, I am using Cyanogenmod 9 FPX 133, on Xperia Neo, using 72 baseband.
I use a virtual carrier that requires roaming for it's 3G and 2G data connections. When I'm on 2G everything works fine, but when I'm on 3G, it loses connection when I turn screen off. It simply doesn't work.
I'm not sure if this is a 3G problem or more specifically, a roaming code problem. But, is there any known fix?
I have tried with both FXP133 kernel and with the FXP128 Alliance.

Aaand not a single reply. Ah well, I guess that's why, performance aside, custom-made-from-scrap roms will barely ever be everyday usable... way too many small bugs that no one bothers to wipe.
Moved to JJHybrid now (stock based), problem solved.
Thanks everyone for the help.

[Q] Elelinux-7.1-Hero-v3.6 + Wifi

Hi,
I'm posting my question here, since i can't reply on the original thread.
Currently i'm running Elelinux-7.1-Hero-v3.6 (custom) on my HTC Hero.
First off all, great job and thank you so much for keeping the hero alive!!
Tried a lot of different roms and this one leaves the others far behind!
I do however have a small problem with wifi. The device is not "finding" my home network. It does find other networks in the area, and i have been able to log in on a friends network. But it doesnt find this particular one. Other devices (laptops, desktops) are able to connect to it, so i dont think that the issue lies with the network.
Previously i was running elelinux FROYO_2.2.1_Final_Android_Stock (special edition) and did not have this problem.
Is there anyone with the same/a similar problem? Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this?
Dont know if it matters, its an assus N-router.
Thank you
Have you tried to click "Add a wifi network" in the (empty) list of available networks to define SSID and security setting manually?
Thanks for the reply.
Yes i tried that allready, it still tells me it is not in range.
Dont know if it helps the wireless is 2.4 and 5 GHz
Just put Elelinux-7.1-Hero-v3.6 custom v2 on my phone and still have the same problem?
Any guesses?
Check if u can detect other wifi networks wit ur fone if not try a different rom, since u want something as stable as else's try herodeck...
If it does detect other wifi networks, check if ur home wifi is hidden or reset it...

I have the same ROM and I don't have any problems with wi-fi. Maybe there is an issue with the 802.11n compatibility. Are you able to force the AP into b/g mode?
Same Problem
i had the same problem so adjusted router to use B/G mode only and works fine now
maybe your WiFi is on one of the odd japanes channels 52 or so, make sure your choose something between channel1 and 11 in the 2,4Ghz Band
Thank you for all the replies!!
It got fixed!!
Didnt have to change from N to b/g
But tried Taknil's solution and changed channel from auto to somewhere between 1 and 11 in the 2.4 Ghz band (router went up to 13)
Works like a charm!!
Thank you all!
It happened to me to.
I've to give up the mod for now.

Problems with wifi on ICS official and ROM Cook (4.0.3 and 4.0.4)

Hi everyone! I am new to this forum. I have something to ask.
Currently I am having an Xperia Ray. Rooted. Boot loader unlocked. Running Ray Onium v7 GB with Aire Kernel v7. Everything runs perfectly without a glitch.
However when I update to ICS, both stock ROM or Cook ROM (Ray Onium v6 ICS, JJ ROM 2.5 and team Kang ROM), I find that my wifi is not useable.
I'm sitting about 1m away from the router, the signal is excellent but I can't browse the internet or go to the market.
I have tried both with 4.0.3 and 4.0.4. However when I connect to an open network, everything is fine. I'm using WPA2 encryption for my Linksys 54g router.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
What kernel did u use

I'm using XRay 6.2.5, it doesn't work. I also try Aire, Official Kernel, but my ray still cant access the internet. However when using GB, everything's fine.

Try to update from SEUS

I have the same ussue in neo v. Conects fine and fast but there is no internet. All ok on GB but any ics is making that prob. Tried every single rom out there with all kernels and wifi modules

I've tried with SEUS, no luck.
The point here is that it gets connected very fast, however there is no internet. On GB everything is perfect.
I have the same issue, everything perfectly on GB.
Sent from my naughty Xperia Ray.
I've been having similar problems with my wifi since updating to ICS. My problems are a little different though. WPA2 network here, the phone can see the network fine and it connects quickly, I can browse and stuff just fine, but every so often the network just /disconnects/. Usually it'll reconnect a few seconds later, but sometimes I have to open the wifi settings screen before it'll reconnect, and sometimes it doesn't reconnect at all. When it doesn't reconnect at all, the settings screen says my network is either out of range (it picks it up the moment I hit Scan) or had an "authentication problem", and I have to manually connect to the network.
Kinda weird and very frustrating, because sometimes I'm connected for hours without a problem, and sometimes I'm getting disconnected every few minutes.
When SE released their alpha and beta ICS roms, the wifi either didn't see my home network, or it saw my home network but couldn't connect, instead just infinitely cycling through "Connecting, Disconnected, Not In Range, Connecting"
Same problem happens regardless of what kernel or ROM I use, it happens in CM9, AOKP and every other ICS ROM I've tried. :/
A similar problem it seems...
When I want to download an app via Google Play simply it doesn't start. I touch back button and try to download it again and voila! The same fast wireless..
But it simply does not start at first try. Not only Google Play downloads but also all other internet using applications do that strange behaviour.
WPA2 and 801n

I have two Rays at home... one on GB and one on ICS.... the ICS one has the same problems, I think switching your wifi router to WEP seems to help and so is changing to B from N.. but then you lose higher speeds and security... but that does seem to help. On the other hand the GB ray has no problems whatsoever....
Hope this helps someone figure out a solution

Your welcome. I just also flashed official Nordic 4.0.4 from here... And my router has something called " protected mode", that is says helps for that- if WiFi signals are too many around. Try installing WiFi analytics from google play... It's free-
use a free WiFi channel.
Turn on such protected mode if you can
I also activated something called "intellistream" that prioritizes streaming in WiFi.
So far, it's going well. This way I kept the 801n and WPA security.
Before this, I was sitting 7-8 steps away from the router and kept dropping connections.
Hope it helps.... No expert here.... Joined the forum for the same reason...
tomorrow after work ill test as much scenarios as possible. it cant be router related since i have the same issue with 7 different routers. 0 problems with GB, always the same issue on ICS.
connected solid and sound, no dropping in signal, but no internet flow whatsoever.. this is the only thing that keeps me on GB -.-
Any progress?
Yeah same problem with me.
There's something wrong with ICS Rom, that needs to be fixed
Replace file
Unzip and copy this file in /system/bin (replace with original). This should fix the wifi connection. You will need root for this.
So far, so good

Hey there....
It's been working fine for me now with the above changes and the 4.0.4 Nordic ftf that I flashed from here.... the 4.0.3 does seem to have WiFi problems, but not the 4.0.4.
Hope it helps....

[Q] CM10 Preview on GT-P7500r 4g Rogers

I got the p4 rom installed but having issues with wifi and 4g. Both wifi and network connections are unstable. both tries to connect then disconnects. never really establishes a stable connection. other than that everything else seem to be working (sound, google search, camera, google play...).
Any solutions? or is the cm10 p4 is no good for tab 10.1 4g rogers?
Ok guys nvm. i just found cm10 9-23 unofficial and everything that should be working is working now. Also found few minor bugs.
Mod can delete this thread pls.

For others that want to know the WiFi 3g works on this build but Mic and video doesn't. Also found other minor things don't work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1787399
With the loop problem in the old build its the 3g that's cause the problem. Take out your SIM and disable 3g. Then WiFi will work.

[Q] Wifi issue on Xperia U with ICS

Hi,
I have updated my ST25i with the ST25a firmware.
Also I excluded baseband while flashing.
The phone booted up fine and I have everything I need set up.
BUT , there is 1 problem.
My wifi stops sending/receiving data 2-3 mins after I enable it. After that until I disable/enable the wifi again it does not work.
This was not an issue when I was on GB.
Can someone please help me out here.
Has the baseband thing got anything to do with this or baseband is only for 3g and carrier network connection and should not be affecting wifi.
Thanks,
Robs

Yes I did..
that did not help..
finally, after trolling through a number of posts... I tried this
changed the mode of my router from b/g/n mixed to g only and changed the channel from "Auto" to "1" (after checking with wifi analyzer)
Now its working fine. I read somewhere that ICS devices sometimes have a problem when n mode is also enabled on the router.
Now I am at the office, but it worked well for the 30 mins when I tested it .. will test again when I go home..
the wifi at the office is connecting fine though .. so the mode and channel change was definitely the solution for my problem..
thanks for your reply
Cheers!!!

[Q] Test if 3G is broken

Hey, so I have a Samsung Galaxy S running CyanogenMod 9.
I want to test if my 3g is actually working or not. I used to use the 3G internet on the phone until I changed plan without mobile internet and now I've changed back. The problem is there is no 3G connection now.
I've been onto my network's forums and followed their instructions for setting up APN's etc. and the settings are perfect (even though I never changed them since the last time it worked)
So my question is that is there some way to test if your 3G hardware is actually functioning?
Bump. Does anyone know anything to test if your 3G h/w is working?
Bump. Anyone?
