Hi, i'm planning to buy an Xperia S, but I'm concerning about its battery life, can it last 2 days for normal use like Xperia Arc S?

Not unless normal use means you don't actually use the phone... my battery lasts 36 hours max, that's with custom ROM and kernel.

So check ur batt use and manage ur apps..cz am always on whatsapp and listenning to music and didn't charge more than 1 time a day at night

With stock ics rom and kernel I get 24 hrs max with normal usage, including about half an hour of video 720p and 15 min of gameplay, 30 min of voice calls and probably 1-2 hours of txt and emails with some web surfing. Minimal use I could probably extract 36 hrs.
Screen is almost always at minimum brightness.
Great phone though custom rom and kernel will certainly improve battery life!

Yes decent phone battery life to me is crap with heavy ish use your lucky to get a day, No chance of 2 don't believe the hype
Also Sonys customer service and ability to update and keep customers informed is pretty horrific,
But it's a very good phone I've stuck with Sony for my last 3phones because they have the best design of all mobiles imo,
Soon though i think our update issues will be solved as Google has announced we will be getting aosp like the nexus updates
So hopefully we will be among the 1st to get updates,,,,best news ever

First of all, you put your phone in the toaster, and set it to maximum heat level. After that, some people recommend 3 minutes on high in a microwave, but 5 minutes at gas mark 9 in an oven usually does the trick.
And then, after that, you use the search function that came free with this forum, I hear it's feeling lonely and being neglected quite often.

No it doesn't, if you can get two days from an XS its by leaving it on the side with everything disabled. With the new ICS update I might get 1 day, probably Not though. But I don't know of any smartphone with dual/quad core and huge hd screen that is noticably better.

done the reset and NOTHING changed.. im a bout to return this baby
It's because of gingerbread I think.. I have seen ICS on the Xperia S, and it's an amazing difference. If you can stand it as is for a couple of months then you'll be up for a treat.

Can't see much difference to be honest... I had mine for two weeks now and I can easily say it's as smooth as the iPhone 4s.. And yes my brother had one so I can compare..
My complaints are with some force closes that I face with a couple of apps but that's a different issue which is related to the app itself..

Most people don't have the problem because they are not noticing this "laggy-ness". It's something most people doesn't think about. As for me, I think it works pretty well - but ICS is gonna be better.

Very visible for me. I hate that. Must.. Be.. Smooth..
Some widgets needs to get tweaked. Very choppy when scrolling to them.
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
It really lags but not the widgets just when i scroll through the icons in the launcher it stutters badly,,,
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
My phone is insanely smooth, not choppy at all.
Obviously if you have like 5 of those animated weather widgets on a screen it will probably jump a little between screens, but yea, you have 5 animated weather widgets .
Do you have a different launcher? maybe you have a really heavy launcher?
I seriously have no problems, and I am really picky if I have weird lags and such.
Maybe you have a lot of background apps running?
Maybe the update to. 67 could help?

Well I updated as soon as I got the phone, so I have no idea if that is an improvement or not. So I am not sure what to tell you

Feeling now like I have married a beautiful wife but she never stops nagging. ( ok I have and she doesn't just incase she reads this >:~} )
Had the yellowish tint and it was getting it worse then sent it off to Sony came back a month later with ICS installed but nfc broken and I use it all the time and getting FC even using contacts aaarrrrrggghhh if it goes back to them I may just give up and jump ship grrrrr
6 reboots and countless FC's and gave up installing the rest of my daily needed app's that never gave trouble before.

True, and not that it brothers me rooting and fixing, but really annoys me that we spend plenty of money like lemmings on devices that are really below standard.
It its usually the second version of all manufactures devices that the bugs are ironed out.
So now have to spend hours of my time fixing the crap that should not have been there in the first place. Companies are now out sourcing the support for their devices to the crowd. If only they would reduce their prices to match the poor support!

How good/fast is the GPS on the LGOG?

Hello folks,
I would like to ask you guys how is your experience with the GPS on the Optimus G, as in how fast and reliable is the GPS on it. I'm currently on the LG Nitro HD and as you can any of its users, the GPS is pretty bad on it. At times it can literally take more than 5-10 min to connect, and at other times it won't connect at all until I reboot the phone. I've used many apps to try and aid the locking speed of it but it just won't work at times. And when it does it can constantly lose it too.
I'm thinking of picking up the G one of these days but I'd like to be certain that this issue does not plague the G as well. Please share your experience with me.
Thanks,
Sean
P.s. another major issue is the compass, where it cant hold any bearings at all and constantly flails around in every direction. The only time it works is when I'm driving lol. The moment I stop, it goes nuts and takes my working GPS with it, messing up directions.

after about 5 seconds, if that
I played golf today and used the lgog as a GPS rangefinder. Got very accurate readings within a couple yards of a laser rangefinder my friend had. It also doesn't seem to use much battery, which is good.
Got a fix within 5 secs or so. Used it for a 4 hour round and had 70 percent left.

I'm finding the exact opposite right now with the battery use. I was getting a 45% drop overnight while I was sleeping. So last night I turned off the GPS to see if that was causing some drain, and I woke up with only 13% drain. I'm going to do further testing though to see if there are any other items that might be causing this.

I'm in love!!!

Can't say that I love to many things aside from family, my girl, and my corvette..... Today I got my Zu and I can add it to the list. This phablet is phenomenal. There really isn't a better word to describe it. I've had all the best phones ever made and this one puts all of them to shame. Sure the camera and speaker aren't anything special but this screen and smooth performance helps you forgive that very quickly. Anyone on the fence about getting one get off that fence and scoop one up. You won't regret it.

It's indeed amazing :good:
Yeah, I usually take my Nexus 4 to work with me, since I'm too busy to actually use my phone at work and so it would be pointless to carry around the XZU, so I frequently have 3-4 day stretches in which I don't use the XZU. Whenever I switch back for school or off days, it's kind of like turning it on for the first time again. The change is so nice.

Congrats. I plan on getting the Z Ultra later this month along with the Sony power case. It'll be replacing my ancient Xperia x10a, and while it will be monsterous in my shirt pocket, it will be glorious to use.
I'll also be picking up a new VAIO Flip 13" model to replace my old Sony Tablet S. Between that and the Z Ultra, my mobile experience should be amazing!
The Z1 got the "Smartphone of the year" award and the Tablet Z got "Tablet of the year" award in Norway yesterday, so Sony is doing something right!

After using it for 3 days, i can say that i have my money well spent.
Pros:
1. Dat screeeeeenn..
2. Wifi range is superb, can go to second floor (where the wifi is on the first) whereas with my previous devices they can't detect it.
3. With its large body, surprising that it still fits into my chest pocket
4. Battery Life is good, even though not as strong as my previous razr maxx but that is expected
5. Can't wait to take a break with KitKat!
Cons:
1. Camera overprocessing.
2. No easy root method for now.. but i have migrated from Titanium Backup into Helium app so no biggie.. Only no mod for me now
O yeah i have some tips for battery life:
1. Don't install google aosp camera with gallery. It will take media scanning twice and preventing Stamina Mode to work
2. Turn off Google+ auto backup, or only allow it to upload while charging
3. Better to full drain the phone once and then charge it while it's off. But after that, please trickle charge it before it reach 50%
4. Don't use the phone while charging. Better to disconnect and then continue after you're done.

This phone is amazing. Just like many of you, I have used a lot of flagship androids - but this baby is special. Phenomenal display, smooth performance, no more messing around with pinch zoom and much less scrolling. Camera could have been better, but you'll get over it in no time. I'll eat my pride and share my darkest secret - I don't finally miss my 'buttery smooth' iphone 3G from 2008

It's not as bad as you think but it is better to not do so. Because if you use it while charging, the high temperature will degrade battery faster. So unless you know that your usage is low and not heavy, better to disconnect it and charge again after the device is cool again.

He asked if it's BAD to use the phone when it's charging, and let's be honest, it's not like you'll kill your battery within a week if you do it. Are you playing Vice City for 5 hours while charging? Actually, there is a simple fix to improve and increase speaker volume.
I use the XZ1 Volume boost, it works wonders.
- Increased internal - external speaker
- Increased headphone volume
- Increased volume call speaker

Hey xda members!
I have been a long time android user and had quite a few devices : htc leo(android), htc desire, htc desire z,galaxy s 2.
I decided after the s2 to take a hop and go to iphone 5.it works, but i am not crazy about it.always a function seems to be missing and itunes is a major pain.
So i decide i should sell the i5 and get back on the android horse.
Problem is, all current android flagship devices overheat like mad.
i have used gs4,htc one, htc g pro, xperia z1 on stores and from friends and with just 30 minutes of normal usage they go up to 40+ degrees (celsius) for no good reason.heat is incredibly bad for mobile devices and causes all sorts of damage.
So my question is :
Is there an android flagship atm that doesn't overheat like that?
(preferably not sony, using a TFT screen on year 2013 is plain ridiculous, even Z1 triluminos sucks)
