MIUI for CDMA HTC Rezound version - HTC Rezound

Haven't really heard much about this recently.. Anyone have any ideas on a working release of MIUI rom for the HTC Rezound CDMA? I know last said that it works but there's no SMS... I really enjoy this rom and have been waiting patiently. Just curious. Thanks.

miss read what you wrote, there is a easy way to fix for sms

Not on CDMA...It's still mainly GSM.
I would have already ported MIUI 4 but my computer's acting all kinds of crazy with GRUB. It's really not that hard to do since we have working AOSP (well, for the most part.) so it would be full fledged MIUI 4 with the typical aosp bugs we have right now.

Which MIUI build would you port? I'm thinking that one from an HTC One device would work, but I'm not too sure since there's no CMDA version.

there is a workaround.. check this site out.. http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/08/sms-using-email/ they will receive a text or mms (Not in their email) even though you sent it through an email.
to send an MMS, you'd type "[email protected]" (Without quotes)

I believe we're waiting on the ICS kernel source for siul's MIUI build.

I could if you tell me what to do. I have an used tower that I'm gonna use for latest Ubuntu. I'm pretty average with Linux usage

That's the thing, MIUI 4 is a lot more...flexible than the older versions. It's just porting over and swapping libs and other things. Edit: Of course, I forgot I might need to resize things unless I find the right base to use.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1499411 If anyone wants to take a shot at it. I have to download another Ubuntu image and I'm on slow internet right now. I'll try to get it at least ported over tonight and post DLs tomorrow. Only thing I'm not familiar with is setting permissions on updater-script.

Since we have the RIL for AOSP cracked we don't need source to have a "working" build. We'll have the typical bugs but I'm debating on if I want to use the newest work they have and have a strict warning in the OP saying "S-ON ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" so nobody bricks. Just depends lol

well that sucks for s-off users

Not necessarily. For right now it "sucks" because of bugs. Chad and John have done an amazing job so far and I'd love to get a fully working CDMA MIUI

MIUI for Rezound

It looks like some progress is being made with MIUI for Rezound. Seems to be some issues, but I thought it was worth sharing. Check this twitter for progress:

Yeah I'm excited for it too. Apparently it has RIL intact (at least the guy working on it thinks it does), and if this is true, I bet it would really help the RIL issues on AOSP ROMs (like CM9 hopefully)

RIL is the Radio Interface Layer. It's basically the phone and data portion of the software, so without a working RIL, you do not get data and you can't send texts or make phone calls. They've had a rough time getting it to work on ROMs without Sense (completely without Sense, not desensed to look like it is), but hopefully this changes soon.
I was starting to think he quit building miui for us. He's always tweeting about the thunderbolt and nexus.

He's been working on it recently. Someone who was helping him says that the issue now is finding a good kernel, and that none of the AOSP ones work well with the ROM. Hopefully he sticks with it and we get MIUI (and other AOSP ROMs) soon.
I'm not a big fan of MIUI, but I'm glad it's being worked on. The bigger the variety the better I say.
does seem its getting close, I can't wait, I love MIUI, and we need more options than just Sense roms
This will for sure give us cm9 as well. Im stoked!
Any progress is progress at this point. As much as Sense is as sleek as ever I just want that screaming speed you get from aosp.
I'm so ready for miui or sense 4.0 I can't stand thinking about it lol. Soooo bored with.gingerbread sense
I loved Miui on the Inc, even though it did kinda cripple the video camera. The customizability was unmatched.

I'll sum up what I know about the current issues for the Rezound and non-Sense ROMs. Correct me if I'm wrong but...
The problem most developers are having with AOSP ROMs is with the RIL, or Radio Interface Layer. Vicious claims to have this working on MIUI, but does not have a good kernel for the ROM. So when HTC releases the kernel source for ICS (like they just did for the Sensation and Vivid), it should give developers a lot more to work with to make good kernels for AOSP ROMs and MIUI.
The question I have is whether or not a working RIL for MIUI really does mean it would also work for AOSP ROMs like CM9, or at least with minor changes. Also, (if they can't get the kernel to work without the source) once the ICS kernel source is released by HTC, would it speed up the problems that people are having with their kernels on non-Sense ROMs like MIUI? Or would it still pose a big problem because it is made for Sense?
Yes we need a custom aosp kernel. From what ive heard both IMO & aeroevan might be interested in helping us out.

Closest thing to MIUI...

I'm looking for a rom that is similar to the Look of MIUI (obviously nothing will be very similar) but maybe something resembles it in some ways. I've recognized that there are 2 tpos of roms, the ones that follow the generic, gingerbread frame, or ICS frame (aokp, unamed, phonebricker, ICSrewed, CM7/9 etc.) and then MIUI, who kinda does their own design. I've been partial to MIUI ever since I laid my hands on it.
Reason why I'm asking for a look-a-like is because I've been running the scottish one for some time (1.11.9) but she's had the no service bug issue for some time now where everytime I attempt to make a call, 80% of the time it'll lose service and it takes like 4 tries or so till my call goes through. Unacceptable. Yet I can't keep myself away from the build. It's just so speedy. Wish I could have a more recent build for my I777 but I can't find one anywhere. I've also tried a million builds for the regular MIUI, 2.2.3 V2 being the most recent one I could find (I believe that's the most recent? I literally searched for hours), but this build also has the same call service drop bug. Can't stand it.
Can anyone help with my situation? Currently running MIUI V4 ICS, and it's sweet and all but it's wrecking my brain with how slow it isss . Anything similar to MIUI or help with a fix or newer version. Mucho appreciated!!!
Btw I'm no noob to flashing, have flashed at least 20 different roms and all, just wondering if there is anything I missed...in terms of what I'm looking for. Cus I hate settling.

Yeah I'm really looking for more than just a launcher though. I'm already aware of the creation of MIUI launcher and that's sweet but it doesn't encompass settings themes and notification draw down etc. I'm not super picky about that but I'd prefer everything to be uniform...so not gonna go with that method.

Duddeeeeeeeeee. Just went back through it and found AdyScorpius' version of MIUI. I'd gone through that before but I guess I missed this version. If it's anything like Galnet I'm gonna be soooooo happy. I'm gonna flash it now!! So excited hahah. I'm a speed freak, need my lag free interface, otherwise I get annoyed >.>

Hahah idk, I was reading up on all these bugs that I haven't really heard of in the general MIUI builds. I'm using it though and it's snappy pappy. Except going back from a conversation message, to just the conversation list. It reverts quickly, but the text doesn't load as quick as the transition. Annoyanceeeee lol. Idc though...sorta. Is good though. Is real good. Wondering if it's worth bumpin up to ICS V4 cus I didn't realize RIUI and AdyScorp were making roms like this. Trying to decide whether upgrading is worth the stupid notification swipe or not. So annoying.

MIUI sucks because it is so slow and in development. The only thing that is great about it is it's interconnected community and even app. Which is all JUST SHOW if you know how to flash your own ROMs.
If you want speed, battery, and best overall flawlessness I suggest: shostock!

I have nothing against all the Samsung Touchwiz based Roms. I just plain don't like em. I have two things that I need personally, and that is speed, and an appealing look/design. Although CM7/CM9 can have a...functional/sophisticated look to them, they aren't quite as unique and sophisticated as the MIUI themes. Namely, CM is all very square and proper, while MIUI seems to be a little more accommodating if you will. I like to speed through things, and I'm particular about the way I do things. For example: when texting someone I like to send a text, then go back to the conversation list, so that when I get a new text I can see who it was from. I used UnNamed rom for a little bit (a month maybe) - and also tried ShoStock because I'd heard a lot about that too. I flashed it, but it basically seemed to be the same thing. Anyway when using unnamed there was obvious lag interface between the message system when I'd press back twice really quick after sending a text (once to close keyboard, once to close keyboard, another to go back to conversation list). MIUI is more smooth in it's transition and seems to have not necesarilly more poignant scirpting but mayhaps faster. I like MIUI's notification bar and status bar. I like how the notifications have a page and I can click my wifi, data, airplane mode, gps, rotation, and brightness all on the same page, without having to swipe left or right to find more. Mostly I'm a fan of the themes of course, since they simply look awesome. If you care so much move to AOKP, it's better than any Samsung Touchwiz Rom I've ever used, for that type of person. I love AOKP, but I can't seem to stand the crude looking toggles/switches, and the damn launcer (all 3 of them). I find app drawers to be very unnecessary (my own personal opinion - plenty of interpretations there). But I'm willing to further discuss this if you want haha. No mean to be insulting but you basically started the engagement

[Q] The best of the best? As of today that is...

Hi there!
So I've been searching for the newest and rom that works 100% (as of today) for my Motorola Droid Razr. I know CM has come out with some good roms, but I can't keep track of all the different roms that are out there. More specifically, I want a rom that works 100%, no bugs, no nothing (for the most part that is)... To my understanding the ICS and JB roms have some problems... maybe I'm wrong though? I've read I may have to downgrade to Gingerbread in order to get a rom that works 100%, BUT again, I want to ensure I'm not missing something. Can someone direct me?
Yes, I've searched this forum, other forums, blogs, news sites, etc... BUT I want to ensure I get the newest and best working rom (not the NEWEST JB rom - unless that works 100% - but the newest rom that is best working).
Thanks so much!

Awesome! Thanks so much. I'll check it out. Is Eclipse what most people are using?
Yeah, I wanted to get Cyanogenmod, but I've heard that the new updates are kinda buggy (no camera, etc...)
Yeah, Eclipse is probably the most popular ROM for RAZR. The Gingerbread build DEFINITELY was.
Also, apparently the camera and everything works on CM9 as long as you download the right version. I haven't had any experience with it though so I couldn't help if you chose it.

I think I'll go with CM9... I've been looking at the AOKP as well... sounds pretty nice - have you ever tried it? I'll try them out and see what I like the best.

Oh, and I've tried to find CM9 and AOKP for the Droid Razr, but to no avail... Well sorta.
I was going to post a link, but XDA Developers won't allow me to because I don't have 10 posts yet...
I found one that says CM9/AOKP (leak rom), BUT I don't understand what they mean when they say I "leak rom"... I think it means that ICS hadn't been released yet when they released this rom? I don't know... And although the site is rootzwiki.com, I am hesitant in loading it onto my Razr because it doesn't actually say it's for the Razr, AND I can't find CM9 for the Razr anywhere else. I feel like these are for the .181 while I'm running .211...
I can't find anything for AOKP that doesn't seem like it's too old to try. It just seems as if everything is outdated... I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong places? I don't want to mess up my phone by installing a ROM that is too old.

I'm on CM10 now as stated in the earlier post. It's super smooth but I don't think it's ready for daily use.
Will look into eclipse though.
Boohoo, Eclipse is only for CDMA. Mine's a GSM.
Just remember, you are currently on ICS. You can't leave ICS.
It is a one-way street and there is no way to flash gingerbread without having some major problems.
I use Eclipse and I would highly recommend it.

Honestly, I'm not sure. That's why we build them all. I know the tmo variant has different proprietary radio libs, likely for additional spectrum support. But I'd bet the UL and att builds are pretty much the same, except for device fingerprint.

Ya the tmo board was a ghost town. Ok, lemme run a UL build and see if my m7 likes it. Gotta test things personally first. Keeps me out of trouble.

I'm still getting my feet wet in GSM land. I got kicked off Sprint for violating their roaming policy. Of course, it was intentional to get out of buying my contract

I just downloaded from the server (another build) on my computer all fine
Nice to see another rom thanks for the work !
As soon as our IT guy get the backend right, I'll write an updater for easy updates. Couple things I think would be nice. Native xvid support and native dts audio. I have mx player pro with a custom libffmpeg that does all that but native is always good. Thoughts?

Most recent ROM with working HDMI?

This may be borderline the wrong place to post this, but it does concern custom ROM's, so technically it would be considered development I do believe. If not I'm truly sorry and move it to the correct section please. Anyway, my question is just like the title states. I've dug around a lot and haven't really found the answer. I promise I wasn't lazy and just made a new thread without researching . I want to know if anyone knows of anything like a CM10, CM11, any CM based ROM, or basically anything other than the 4.1.2 stock based ROM's with working HDMI. It is a must for me. You can go to the CM site and others, but it doesn't really say anything about it, being that most ROM's aren't all out device specific anymore, and many devices do not offer HDMI because of hardware anyway. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
NO WAY !This is only available on stock ROMs because the related stuffs are close-sourced.

hes absolutely right. roms that are "Stock based", Jellybean 4.1.2 will possibly have the hdmi functionality. Artmod is one
Thanks for the replies. That's exactly what I've come to learn. I decided to give up and I'm in the process of cooking up my own ROM. It will have every feature that I use and a lot of other goodies baked in.

I've run this ROM and it's okay. I've pretty much run everything imaginable on six different devices. I was just hoping that someone knew of something like a pure AOSP based or Cyanogen based ROM with working HDMI. I've looked everywhere and tried to add it to ROM's and it just won't work. It has something to do with the stock 4.1.2 firmware and the drivers. So we'll probably never see that function in anything like a 4.4+ ROM unless we get an official update (WHICH WILL NEVER HAPPEN) I decided to give up and I'll just swap to stock in Safestrap when I need HDMI capability. Right now I'm in the process of cooking up a nice little custom 4.4.2 pure AOSP based ROM. It will feature NOVA Launcher and the most dynamic launcher made (it's a secret) as home options. I'm mainly focusing on smoothness, responsiveness, and battery life.
MFsicKness v1.0 will be coming to a Forum near you soon!
Lucize got a working kexec kernel with hdmi feature tested. But it's still a little buggy. However, I'm also in now for some new development and we'll see how it goes

OOOH MY MY Lol! I'm very intrigued on this. I will definitely load the kernel up on a 4.4 build and see how it works out. If it works I will either put it in my build or link it to my OP when I post my ROM. Regardless lucize and dtrail1 will have full recognition and credit for the kernel and working HDMI. Man, if this works my RAZR will be a beast. I got really lucky and scored a MAXX on ebay for $51 with only the screen broken. It took a total of about 20 minutes to convert mine to the MAXX last night. As far as I can tell I'm saving around 11 to 13 percent more battery per hour with fairly heavy use. I have a couple of questions. Do you guys like the Xperia's Album (photo gallery) and Walkman music player with ACID Audio? All features work in the builds I have. And which gapps do you prefer? I'm trying to figure out which ones to recommend. I pretty much always go with Slim. Okay enough rambling. It's time to test.

Alright, I will definitely give thanks to all where thanks is due. If this works out then our little RAZR's will at least be able to contend with any device when it comes to performance and the all out coolness factor. Fully functioning HDMI is pretty much all it was missing

Indeed, HDMI is something that even the newest flagships don't have..
As for Xperia Album and Walkman, not a big fan of Albums, but Walkman, Hell Yeah.!!! I've been trying to make it work for Razr since the day I bought it. Would love it on the device.

The problem with making it work on the RAZR is the drivers. Even if you get a hold of a flashable Walkman .zip, most of the time it will not work correctly, no matter which version you get. It will usually also break any other music player you have installed. When you play a song you only get a split second of sound. The song will continue to play but with no sound. But never fear, it functions 100% in my build. Everyone can thank Nx Biotic for telling me where to look for the fix to this issue. Unfortunately I'm delayed on finishing the ROM for a short time. My little girl decided my screen and LCD looks better completely shattered Lol. At least I have the trusty "absolutely sucks compared to the RAZR" Droid Charge. It does have HDMI though. Parts are on the way for the RAZR and I will continue testing shortly. Keep an eye out.
So, did anyone get HDMI working with a custom ROM? AFAIK only the "official" ROM's work, but as they are so old, not so much fun. Shame we can't get the best of both worlds. Anyone know someone from Moto who can find the source code for this "secret" HDMI stuff, or has anyone the knowledge to decompile it from an official ROM?
