umm... HD2 = a windows phone. android was ported to it.
as for windows phone to android i dont think anyones tried or tried very hard.
try launcher7 gives you the look and feel of a windows phone and runs nice

Wp7 has some strict hardware requirements... the note breaks almost all of them

Impossible no. But it is not going to happen. HD2 was a microsoft windows phone to start. The Note isn't. If you want a windows phone then buy a windows phone. I am sure a mod will have this thread closed very shortly like all the past threads.

damn that sucks i want my note screen with windows phone 7 guess that dream wont come true -_-

Did you read the post about trying win7 launcher

Wow. Where to start. Hrmm... Okay:
The HD2 originally came with windows mobile installed. Due to the (at the time) awesome hardware specs and large screen, everyone wanted it. After a week, we all realized how horrible windows mobile was and started experimenting with getting Android to boot. For an entire year we were copying Android versions over to our SD cards and booting from there. Around Christmas, we finally got the bootloader unlocked and we had a great phone. It wasn't much longer before Ubuntu was also running and once Win7 came out, folks had that booting too. All of this was in answer to one problem: windows mobile sucked.
Our Notes do not suck. Even the "stock" version of Android that ships with the phone is better than anything Microsoft has come up with so far.
So, no, I don't think anyone is concerned with getting another OS to boot on the Note.
On my Note via xda app.

Windows Mobile 6.5 is different than Windows Phone 7. I often miss some of the things Windows Mobile used to offer. NRGZ28 made a killer Rom for the HD2. I also loved the level of customization and the ease of applying things via .cab. It used a lot of desktop computer features as well. We're only recently reaching that level of nuance in Android as far as that stuff goes. The problem with Windows Phone 7 however is that all these good things died, and thus so did the true pocket PC.
Android has come such a long way and our devices are beautiful and versatile now. Who would ever want to run anything different at this point?
Just for reference, I posted some screenshots of my old Windows 6.5 HD2.
Not sure why I felt like doing this, but it made me remember those times

Never gonna happen.....
but it would be cool....for about 10 minutes.....LOL......g

Ahh yes I remember the good old days on my tilt2. Good times. Gotta love triple booting
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium

Windows Mobile 6.5 far from sucked. I still have my Telstra HD2 and it has an NRG ROM too. There were many things you could do on it that you still can't with android. The problem was not the OS but the lack of quality and compatible apps and the ending of support from microsoft.
Windows phone was microsoft's attempt to go after iphone. They locked it up very well just like the iphone OS. But unfortunately that takes away from customization and apps also. Reliable but boring for most. I'm just afraid android is going down the same path as microsoft once did. Too many phone variations and incompatible, crappy, and harmful apps.

[q] is htchd2 really worth it?

ok so we all know that the htc leo has alot of cool features you can use on it and alot of its qaulity is unique. but unfortunatly it has lots of problems too. i so far has gotten 4 brand new htc hd2's and they all have bugs and problems within them like restarting by itself many times and freezes. tell me what u think?
I love the phone. But I also have very few freezes and have never had the phone reset itself.
I've never had a defective phone. I think a lot of it is things we do to them.

Same here. The only time I get lockups or slow-downs are after I install certain apps.
Same here..............
Had mine since November and the only problems have been ones that Ive caused through too much tweaking.....
And a problem with T Mobiles original stock rom but that was T Mobiles fault not the HD2.......

The HD2 is a wonderful machine that gives you best performance and wonderful features.
Especially when u compares it to competitive products or the price paid.
I have HD2 , T-8585, since January and never had any freeze or self restart.
All problems I had never cased from the HD2 itself. They cased from installing soft wares which sometimes do not work properly with other soft wares. That was easily recovered with the assistance of nice guys here.
Some problems occurred from defective accessories such as croppy cheap usb-micro cable.
The HD2 is wonderful machine that can be easily converted and modified according to your needs and imagination.
Thanks for the great answers ! I think its just the T-Mobile Rom thats a complete piece of crap. Because I didnt even add anything or tweaked the first 2 phones i got and they still caused many problems within the first day no B/S. Another quick question dough, how much would it cost to buy and repair an htc hd2 LCD screen, because one of my phones screen cracked. Its not the glass outer part that broke but the inner screen.
I am agree with you all, it's a great phone fast-big screen-cool design, but....
It's worth to pay 450 euro for this phone now (AUG)?? I mean I can wait for the next generation (mabe hd3/NOV or DECEMBER) thaat will have more features like an S-AMOLED and mabe a hdmi cable, and all of that with +50 euro.
Do you know anything about new HTC phones that will be released and when, and it is worth to wait more??? Thank you!
I believe the hd2 is one of the best devices on the market. It's fast, it has wonderful features, and now it is capable of running more then one os. Even the stock winmo isn't bad if yu change the rom and don't care about downloading apps. I believe for tmo usa, the hd2 is hands down the best phone they have, other then the n1. And yes better then the samsung vibrant, which is supposed to b upgrade but doesn't even have a camera flash.my experience with samsung phones has been horrible. I don't even think froyo has been released for it. Even tho it's ported, I've been running froyo on my hd2 since late july. As for up coming phones, google htc vision aka g1 blaze. 1GHz processor, medium sized screen, slide out keyboard and android. Basically the first legit replacement for the original g1. Much better then that mediocre mytouch slide 3g. The choice is yours.personally I love my hd2, but yu might just want to wait alittle while longer.

Btw the htc vision should b coming out before the years end. Also there is a rumored hd3 coming soon that is supposed to run wimo7. Decision, decisions lol best thing about the hd2, runs winmo 6.xx, runs linux, runs android, and most likely will run winmo7(I'm sure someone will figure out how to port it) what other phone can do that! Lol decisions decisions

i think its a Great phone, i love everything about it slim design customisation element big screen but unfortunately it does have its flaws eg battery life occasional freezing to name a few plus no further windows upgrade officially it looks like a dying breed imo but without the chefs on here this handset will be resurrected with android port coming through and presumably windows 7 the futures look good
I do love the phone alot and i do think its the best phone on the market but im just highly upset with its problems. My bad luck i guess hehe . I have another question dough.
What does the red or yellow dots on the back of the phone next to the battery on the lower left mean? I got a 3 phones with red dots but 1 with a yellos dot.

all that is a reset button. First it was red, then on the newer batch, it was changed to yellow.
For me, its the best windows phone I have ever used. Although if I was thinking of buying a new phone at this stage of the year, I think I would wait till around Oct-Nov or at least i'll wai for the first release of W7 and see if it is worth the wait. But the HD2's built I think is almost perfect(virtual keys at the bottom would have made it perfect for me).
Well dasz really true ! Thanksz for all da help guysz .. Ima jusz try to find the best rom out there . I wuld like sum help on dat too if u dont mind hehe This site is very supportive and useful !! Big thumbs up
Coming from a google phone for the past 2 years and then going back to Windows I was amazed how easy it was to deal with the phone.
The issues are the same as the others freezing, lag, etc. I think its the stock ROM itself, but I wonder? Sometimes it acts like my old dash and when you have to close the tasks and use a program to clear up ram space, it annoys me.
I don't like the windows market place, in google certain programs are free, but in windows you have to pay to use features? F-that.
I awating till they perfect a andriod rom to be put in the HD2 with no issues.
The good points of the phone is that it syncs to my outlook with ease..

So does this mean that no matter what rom i put into the phone, it will always be lagging and freezing as it normally would?

I wouldnt say that since most of the roms here seem to make it run better, but Windows mobile is crap compared to Linux.
The HD2 has the same features as my Andriod phone Google maps, You Tube, Google Browser, yet run like crap on the windows mobile phone. GPS take forever to lock on and the maps just has a differnet feel to it..Youtube runs differnet and the browser is crap
Does this phone really have a 1 ghz processor? It feels like my a phone is on 450ghz at times, again maybe window mobile requires too much?
I'm going to flash a rom on the phone since I am tired of the battery drain which is annoying
I have a Nexus One that I am in the process of selling since I like the Hd2 alot more.
The Hd2 does everything I could ever ask of a smartphone and more:
- Free turn by turn GPS directions
- Emulator gaming
- Word/Excel documents
- Bluetooth keyboard support (Android cant do this at all)
- Voice recorder
- Gorgeous 4.3' monster screen
- Tethering
I haven't had any problems with my Hd2 whatsoever. If anything Android gave me more problems than Windows Mobile. The only reason you hear about Android more is it's newer and the media want's to push it as hard as they do with Apple stuff for ratings...
I'm bored with my HD2. Because its working perfectly. I guess I need a new phone with lots of problems
I love the phone. It's design is great, the screen is amazing and the hardware is beefy. What really makes the phone though is the community and chefs here at XDA. I lose count of the amount of times I have reflashed my phone. With different ROMS, experimenting and messing around. It's a great device if you like doing that. It makes you pity the iSheep followers, really..
However, my main 2 drawbacks are this: 1) The battery life is poor.. although that is understandable with the screen and hardware it's got to supply. 2) the fact that HTC have confirmed that they will not be supporting/supplying WinMo 7 for the device. However, I hold out hope that will not be a problem for the clever guys here at XDA .

Oh im sure its entirely possible, anything is possible with enough time, but no one is willing to work on this. The only device that got a port of WP7 was the HD2. (Very nice btw) So unless the Dark Forces Team suddenly changes to the Vibrant, or they show how it can be done to all devices, its probably not going to happen anytime soon. Although I would love to get some WP7 goodness on my vibrant.
Possible.. Probably.
You could use launcher 7, an Android home replacement that's like wp7.
Metro UI
Launcher 7
etc.
but no actual ROM.. yet.
Dig thru development. Someone made a port month or two ago. Windows sucks on a phone tho. Like bad.

didnt master do a port of it a while back. check www.galaxysroms.com site.

The reason that is, is because the T-Mobile HD2 uses NAND, and Android Phones don't have NAND but the HD2 does because it's Windows Mobile 6.5 Stock and that uses NAND, which basically means that any "Linux-Based" OS can run on the HD2, however sadly the Samsung Vibrant is no exception and does not use NAND so there is no way (That I can see) this phone ever running WP7 I have an HD2 and a Vibrant and have use Windows Mobile 6.5, WP7, and Android, I can honestly say, Android is better by a long shot!

android devices definitely have NAND >_>
vibrant has both oneNAND and moviNAND chips... that isn't the problem
the problem is there is absolutely *zero* hummingbird processor support in windows phone 7. and it's completely closed source. and we have no way of running the windows phone 7 kernel from either NAND or SD card. and don't point out the samsung phone running windows phone 7... it's entirely different hardware (it uses a qualcomm processor).
without source code this would be a hilariously ugly and badly hacked ROM.

"Bluestacks"... Run Android apk's on Windows!

This really has nothing to do with the EVO3D, but since this is my "home-base" forum, I decided to throw this up here:

This is actually really, really huge....
Think of all the possibilities that exist... (Buy an old, crummy windows tablet that never made it commercially? Run all your android apps on that big-assed screen.)
Have an old laptop laying around that you never use? Load it up with whatever apps you want and throw them up onto the side of your house with a projector!
A lot of phones don't work with hdmi-out, but EVERY Windows laptop at least has VGA-out.....
Someone else possibly suggest a creative way to use this? (I think this is bigger news than people may initially realize.)

Right now, you need a Facebook account to sign up. You won't, apparently, in the future.
What's the biggie?
Make a Facebook account.
It doesn't mean you have to use it..
I have one that I never, ever, use, except to get access to things like this.

Tried on a Windows 2008R2 machine and a windows 7 machine (both x64) and both of them are screwed up after the install. The HD service will not start all of the way and actually blocks all network traffic on both machines. Tried to uninstall and it would just freeze during uninstall. Had to disable the services just get back online. Remember peeps, this is a Alpha build and you could run into issues like this.

[Q] Hi i have some questions and comments!

Hello XDA!
Since 31-12-2011, i am also a proud owner of a Lumina 800. I got it by renewing my Vodafone membership for a year and paid 150 euro. Usually i always try to get as much information as i can before getting a new phone and infact, i was not even in need for one since i have a blackberry 9900 a few months old.
But after hardly using the BB Ping system, i realized it was a bit a waste to pay 5 euro a month for it. Especially now i have unlimited text messages and ofcourse Whatsapp.
I fell in love with the design of this phone and the screen. Oh my god..What a screen it is! I also come from the HTC HD2. It was my first smart phone and what helll that was. I swore i would never buy Windows phone ever! But i have to say, i am really stunned by WM 7.5 Mango. It works awesome, no problems what so ever so far, but there are some little annoying things i wanted to ask people here about.
My first problem is, i am an old school guy, but 27 years old though haha. I use Windows XP with SP2. i have been this pirated copy i got from my cousin a decade ago and i never had a problem. But it seems that Zune is only compatiable with SP3 or higher version of Windows. So at the moment , i have a phone that i can't syn with any media i have. I would like to put some of my music, but i can't do it the old fashion way through file transfer (as in an USB stick).
But what is more annoying , i can't update my software. It seem i can only do this through Zune. So my question is what now? Must purchase a new windows just to use my new phone properly?
The second i want to know and that is probably something small. Has anyone found a way to search for people on facebook on the phone? I can only search through my existing contacts, but i don't know how to search for new ones or add/remove.
Thanks in advance
EDIT:
1 more thing i just found out. I tried to download a DJ set and what happend is, that it will directly stream instead of downloading it to the harddisk. That is not something i like and is there a way around it? With my old HD2 i could download lots of files but you had to hope the phone would not freez over haha.
I suggest you to try Zune pass, you pay 6 dollars\euros every month and you can enjoy unlimited music downloads from marketplace directly on your phone. This way you can avoid PC synch.

You have a pirated copy of Windows and your only solution is to buy a new windows? Why not just do what you already did before. Use a pirated copy of Windows 7? Not that I approve....

[Q] I want Windows 8 on my Max

Has anyone ran Windows 8 (Windows phone) on an Android? I know HTC has a Windows phone. The reason I ask is because I would like to try Windows and be able to use Cortana, and if I don't like it, I can revert back to sweet a$$ ROMS from here. Thanx
Dude... Windows phone isn't just a rom... Simple answer... No never. They aren't even close to being the same. Try one most carriers will offer 30 day money back offers an I believe T-MObile has a trial thing going on as well...

I know Windows isn't just a rom, Verizon has the HTC m8 as a windows phone so I thought maybe the one max could run it also. I was hoping since you could run Windows or Linux on the same machine that maybe the phones would also be able to dual boot. I thought I seen someone dual boot Windows and Android on a tablet on youtube awhile ago. So you are 100% certain there is no way to dual boot or run Windows on an Android device? I want to be for sure. Thanx for your reply.
