Anyone with US TAB P??? Help Plz - Sony Tablet S

Hi again guys.
I had a theory...............
Ever notice how when sony 'FIX' your Tab it magically comes back with original 3.2. Well thanks to condi we have a link to Sony Servers with a installer file here:
http://info.update.sony.net/ST002/nbx02_001/contents/0002/signed-nbx02_001-installer-01202.009.zip
My therory is that the 'installer' file instead of 'ota' can overwrite any previous build. Currently with ota's you are restricted by build number, but perhaps with this installer file will will have a sorta way to revert.
What i need is:
Someone with a TAB P US region
Someone with a pair of stones (because you will need to do this without prerooting)
Preferably you will have a rootable 3.2.1 build to flash then obtain root after.
OR if you don't have root then this can't hurt it will either flash your Tab back to stock and you can OTA update again, or it will fail and you can boot back into normal ROM.
Please someone try this, if it is a success I WILL FIND all the installer files I can. If this works it will be the best method we have of rooting our unrootable tabs.
Good luck

You are US? Problem is I don't know the build number of the one before 11000 as 11000 was an OTA.

Anyone willing to try???? Please if this works then OMG. LOL

Since we are the minority group here, we P users really need to help each other. LOL^^
Anyway, I am willing to try with my AT&T P, but not sure exactly what you want me to do? Just simply download the file and see if I can flash it?

Thanks for the reply (had been waiting patiently) . Simply download and put onto SD card (no card right??, internal memory then), then turn off tab. Hold vol + and hold power button until it turns on, keep holding vol + and you should get into recovery Then select install update using the vol buttons for navigation and the power button as a OK button. Then hopefully it will install Or not and then we are back to square one

[Q] Semi-bricked?

Sorry, to post my quetion here, but I'm not allowed yet to post over at the development part...
I was trying to flash ICS via the S.onyTablet.S v2.7 [ALLinONE], probably I did something terribly wrong.
Now when I start up my Tablet S the SONY logo comes up and then the tablet blanks and powers off.
I'm able to start the recovery.
I'm able to approach via ADB.
I'm getting error messages when trying to flash the different ROM's I found in the thread: "S.onyTablet.S v2.7 [ALLinONE] - new: ICS ROOT!.. more inside "
I think I made the mistake of not doing the things in the right order, but I saw others having this problem, but not the solution for this problem.
Hoping anyone can help me, almost a week with no tablet...!
Thanks in advance!
Flash this. It will revert you to 3.2.1 r2 US, which is rootable. If it errors, pull the recovery log with "adb pull /tmp/recovery.log" and post it here.

Have you tried "Reset to factory settings?" Your tablet still has 3.2.1, so you haven't flashed ICS. The "previous version" value is one from 3.2.1 r2, strangely. I would expect it to match ro.sony.build.incremental or be reduced to 111104048. What version is your recovery? It's listed at the top of the screen "Android system recovery..."
I'm not going to be able to help you further until later. Hopefully someone else can assist in the meantime.

Al the zero's like there isn't anything on the tablet anymore,
Maby thats normal but I also had the same result with starting,
First the Sony Mark appears and then it just shuts down, i also could get it the
recovery, also did a recovery.log pull and it was nothing more then emptyness,
i was affraid to send it back because of my warranty, but probaly it was so
empty that they didn't even could see any tracks of self development or whatever,
Probaly the AiO tool made diffrent changes to some sort of values that the software
didn't understand and believe me i tryed everything, but i messed it up with region changer,
which was resolved by Condi "Our Android Brain"

Have you tried "Reset to factory settings?" Your tablet still has 3.2.1, so you haven't flashed ICS. The previous version value is one from 3.2.1 r2, strangely. What version is your recovery? It's listed at the top of the screen "Android system recovery..."
I'm not going to be able to help you further until later. Hopefully someone else can assist in the meantime.

Since your ro.sony.build.incremental is so high, the only thing that you can flash is probably ICS for whatever region your tablet currently has. Try to flash again. You don't need to use hack_recovery, just signed-nbx03_001-ota-0042.001.zip. After it fails, "adb pull /tmp/region.prop" and post it. It may not even be there.

Look at condi's thread:
8. I've bricked my device! What can I do? - As long as your 'region.zip' file is not damaged, then for 99% your tab can be fixed. Firstable try to flash this 3.2.1r2 firmware. In most cases it works. If it will fail then: 1. Boot into RECOVERY; 2. Try to flash the update again - it will fail - thats ok; 3. Wait for 2-3min to get adb available; 4. Use 'adb pull /tmp'; 5. Post your recovery.log and region.prop files.
Succes.

It's likely that your only options are to flash the original, unrooted, unrootable ICS update for whatever region your device has (this may require waiting for ICS to be released for that region) or seeking service from Sony. I'm guessing that its region is not currently US, but the US ICS update is available here. If you want root, I would simply send it to Sony and hope it comes back with a rootable build.
It's also possible that your region.zip is empty, which would explain the brick. If this is the case, you will be unable to flash any update and your tablet will require service from Sony regardless. If you attempt to flash the US ICS update I linked and it fails, you can pull the recovery log again to see if region.zip is the issue. If region.zip is valid, you could just wait for the ICS update in your region to recover, as previously mentioned.
Thanks for your answers!
Off to the store and sending it back to Sony.
It good to hear that you made your choice Sony is really quick so it wont take long,
Please tell us if you'll gett your tablet back, if you have check your kernel version and if its below 9 you can do all steps from the beginning,
Finally!
And not due to Sony..., I got a new tablet!
The store where I bought my tablet, agreed with me that Sony was taking to much time, and they supplied me a new one!
So now I'm off again, but waiting till after my holidays for any rooting and otherwise tricky updating... ;-)
Hopefully a good vacation will teach me how to read and take time to do the things step by step.

In AiO tool he can´t find my tablet "error: device not found"
And in the Sony ADB from the post bevor he says "remote object 'tmp' does not exist"
Maybe this information ist helpful:
In AiO tool at the rooting option after a few reboots he says that he only has read permisson.

Weird nbx03_014 is Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden
adn nbx03_007 is Germany
Do you have root at the moment? You can not use AIO to change region? Correct???

Please..help with my Sony Tablet P
Dear sirs, I followed the procedure in order to upgrade my Sony Tablet P SGPT211US/S. My tablet was already rooted via All In One so I tried to upgrade it to ICS using Flasher option 1b downloaded from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1632694&d=1357807056
After a while, my tablet's screen went black and didn't respond. Several hours later I tried unpluging and rebooting it but after doing the Sony logo all I get is thousand of pixels and nothing happens. I tried booting recovery but It always has the same behavior. Coomand "ADB devices "can detect the tablet but I don't know what to do to recover it.
Please tell me what can I do. I need it working, ICS or not I need It.
Thanks in advance. I us my tablet for my job. I really urge to fix it.
Best regards,
Dairo L.
Tablet P Bricked as well.. colors across both screens
Hello everyone,
I was attempting the root with condi's AiO tool (that worked fine) but after using the Flasher to flash my Tablet P, both screens have colored lines and the only thing I can get to respond is to boot into the recovery mode. adb doesn't recognize the tablet with the colors displayed either. Only in recovery mode.
I've read through numerous threads trying to find a rom to flash from the SD card to fix this? but nothing has worked.
I just keep getting the error "Erohibit update as a result of checking version or base sku" with every zip file I've tried to update with.
I have the US AT&T version.. just got it today actually..
Can someone please help? If it's well and truly bricked and there is no "fix" I guess it's just time to throw it in the trash
I hope someone has an idea how to fix this.. I have been able to get the recovery.log pulled if that would help.
I am in the same situation. Can a Tablet S being fixed from the recovery?

Did you update the recovery when flashing with Flasher? I have come across this before in the forum and they forgot to upgrade the recovery. anyway try to install the zip twice in a row then pull the recovery and post here, don't forget to quote this post or I may not see it.
Good luck

I installed: signed-nbx03_016-ota-0042.004.zip and it works!!!!
I compared my log to another thread, where they pointed to this rom!
Question: Can i now start again update the rom with auto flasher?
Or do i need to build a rom with the all-in one 6.5?

You can. Flasher is probably your only option. One partition is fine and the other is partly damaged. Please remove any unnecessary files so there is plenty of room. Close any unneeded programs on your PC. Start flasher and DO NOT touch.

Tried several times with autoflasher (tablet S wifi-only, option 2). While everything seems to pass ok, on last reboot i get only the Sony logo and i have to recover with the mentioned rom. Then i tried the all-in-one 6.5 and build a new signed zip. That worked :victory:
To all people who suffer with a soft-bricked Tablet S. Don't give up!
Stifilz, thanks so far!
Same issue
Hello,

Best regards,
Dairo L.

Did you update the recovery when flashing with Flasher? I have come across this before in the forum and they forgot to upgrade the recovery. anyway try to install the zip twice in a row then pull the recovery and post here, don't forget to quote this post or I may not see it.
Good luck
Stifilz

Depends, try to install any zip twice in a row and then pull the recovery log (adb pull /tmp/recovery.log) and post here

Need to find region with SKU 27550240. Try other regions and see what error you get. Good news it is not checking for incremental as it is not an int.

Sorry for my poor english
Check the md5 of the downloaded zip.
Looks like a corrupted one.
Also make sure you copy / paste the zip on your phone correctly.

corrupted file
From my own experience it normally is a bad/corrupted file that you downloaded. I've waste hours downloading a file through my phone only to fbd out that I couldn't flash it. Check your downloaded program cause this can affect the result of your download files. I use Internet download manager for windows which is a very useful download manger for all your needs. For the android I used ADM or advance download manager but I suggest using idm on PC insyead .
One rule I always do now is check the archive if they work or unzip in your PC if not then it won't work on your phone when flashing
