Hey Guys,
I am setting up the thief App "Prey" and it`s working quite well so far but I am wondering is there a way to make this app "impossible" to delete even via Wipe through CWM?
It has uninstall protection of course so you can`t uninstall it the easy way but if the thief flashes a new firmware the app will be gone and I would be screwed.

Yeah I already use it, it`s incredible what you can do with it. In my opinion a must have App for every phone, you can do so much stuff remotely with it, making photos with the front camera, lock the device, sent the destination to your browser etc etc etc. and of course all without the user getting notified about it. Only way to delete it is to flash a new Firmware. I guess make it "unremovable" is not possible though.

Hello
Would you please recommend a firewall only please.
Something that alerts me when which application wants to go out

+1 for DroidWall. It has the added benefit of blocking ads in a particular app if you decide to not allow it access to the network.
However, I should say that it doesn't EXACTLY do what you are asking. It allows you control as to what apps may or may not access the network, either via 3g, WiFi, or both. As far as I know, it doesn't tell you when one of the apps you allow access to the network actually does.
If you want something that asks you to allow/deny, try this
ps this was the 3rd result for android firewall, the first 2 being droid wall, just saying everything is out there google and you shall find.
Edit: well it seems twitter brought the company behind whispermonitor and thus all the downloads have disappeared, I will try to find an apk.
Edit2: it seems that whispermonitor only worked on the nexus S and one other phone, shame it looked promising.
Your best bet is droid wall, there is also Pdroid but it needs a rom patch.
Thank you
Will try your recommend solution

Well i did some more reading about it, and its more of a whole rom/rom mod than an apk file and it was only compatible with the nexus S and Desire I think.
Droidwall is your best bet.
Avast firewall do better than droidwall, it really alert you if any apps trying to make an connection on yhe the background, but avast is big app that come with antivirus protection which seems to be useless for android os so far.

Droidwall doesn't work on Samsung Galaxy S2. I use ICS v4.0.3 and it is rooted!
I try for example to block all app on 3G then played Angry birds and the adds are still there..I think this app waste my time!!
Is there a way to make an app 100% un removable? I've downloaded Ceberus (I think that's what it's called) Anti-Theft. Even though the only way to remove it is to flash a new ROM I'd still feel happier having it completely built in. Is there a way to do this? Cheers!

Well there is a couple of ways but the only way I know is to set up a password on opening that app. And it is protected by having to enter the password if trying to uninstall it as well. So to be honest that will be more than enough :]

Follow that link and install the application and configure it to your needs ;]
Have a good day and good luck with the app :]
Cheers for the App man. I tested it out & then flashed a ROM. No go, it got in uninstalled .

This morning I got a notification from my McAfee Mobile Security app telling me it found a potential threat on my sd card. The notification led me to one of my CWM backup .tar files, so I dismissed the notification and told the app to take no action. I just decided to take another look at my backups and realized that McAfee had gutted every single one of my .tar files. The files are still there, just empty.
I've been using McAfee for over 6 months now with no problems. Must have been a recent update. Back to Lookout.....

That sucks. I hate how McAfee takes control even on the computer. I used them once on a new computer and had absolutely no control over anything it did so dumped it and never went back. I've been using NetQuin on my phone and ZoneAlarm on my computer.
Been using AVG myself since my annual sub to Lookout expired a few months back. It's been doing fine for me.
I am one of the few people that likes McAfee. I use the antivirus software and online backup on my computers and never had a problem of any kind. Made sense to me to try the mobile product. It worked great too until today.
I started using McAfee when I stopped using blur based roms since I wanted the ability to wipe remotely. Can you do that on either NetQuin or AVG. Lookout can do it, but that would be another $30.
I used avast for a while. You could give that a go. It was quite good, not very intrusive and doesn't have a noticeable effect on performance.
Since doing a factory reset on my phone I haven't bothered reinstalling it as I don't feel it's necessary for my needs.

NetQuin probably offers it for the premium service as well, but the free version does have an antitheft mode. If someone tries to change the sim card out then it notifies a number you select when setting it up. Also has online backup of contacts which is another feature I use alot in case google doesn't work between new roms.
Sounds like they are all the same (like most apps) - you get some features for free and you pay for the really good features. I'll be back on a blur based rom until official ICS comes out, so I'll just keep using the free version of Lookout.

TrustGo is pretty solid and it came as an add-on for Dolphin HD. On top of security, I use to to save my caller logs/SMS/etc. to a cloud when switching between roms.

What upndwn4par said and also there are alot of malicious apps making their way to download, plus its good for web browsing on your phone. Facecrap is still known as being the easiest way to get viruses and most people use that on their phone daily. So its a good idea to have some sort of antivirus on your phone as you would your computer.

Well, after not even having my phone rooted for a day, it seems like i have already probably bricked it. I hard reset my phone which normally wouldnt cause a problem if i didnt 1) delete the home launcher and 2) delete the keyboard app. So i can neither get on apps or type. Only thing i can access is the settings panel. My phone is a Kyocera Event running 4.0.4 if that helps. Is there any way to recover from my noob mistake or have i bricked my first phone? lol
Well i figured out if i can just install a home launcher on it then ill be ok but i cant figure out how to install an app on there without being able to access the google play store. Can anyon tell me how to install an app on my phone via pc? Thats probably the only way. If anyone can help id be very thankful thanks a ton:banghead:

Open the play store from your computer web browser, sign in with the same mail you use in your phone and get a launcher. It will download and install automatically in your phone.
Will it still install to that phone even though my email isnt on the phone anymore? It was deleted when i reset the phone

Ops, my bad, i forget you did a reset. Well, you can open settings, right? Add your Google account again, then download the launcher from play store.
I wish i could but i deleted the stock keyboard apps too :banghead: if i could find a way to access my sd card, install an app on my phone via pc or get to the google play store then i could fix this. Next time i definitly wont be touching any non bloatware apps lol

Okay, so I was visiting some illicit sites looking for hacking tools and what not to put on my Android phone to use to learn about network security. Unfortunately I ended up getting hijacked by a randsomware virus. To be specific, the PornDroid virus. I have been able to get my phone into safe mode, however I am not able to remove admin from the offending app in order to uninstall it! It has done something making it impossible to remove admin from it! When I attempt to deactivate the admin privileges I get an error message "operation is forbidden! System application can't be deleted." from the package installer.
What do I do at this point short of factory restore? I spent many hours fine tuning all of my settings and would really rather not have to do that again, lol.
Is your phone rooted. If yes then you can download system app remover from playstore as this app can remove system apps and remove your virus app too.But it need root access.
Hope it helps:thumbup:

Unfortunately, no, this particular software has been a PITA to get to root. None of the one-clicks work, and it has a non standard firmware that does not allow booting into download mode. If I could figure out what files the stupid thing needs to run, might there be some key file I could delete to disable it at least? I do have a file manager I can access in safe mode if so.

I can't. I looked for it folder by folder and there are no foreign apks. My assumption is that at the end of the install it may have deleted itself? This seems to be a very sophisticated version of this virus. There are tuts out there on how to get rid of it, but this variety seems to have really locked itself down.
The only thing that will get rid of it is formatting all the partitions and refreshing stock firmware. If it is as deep as you say then even a factory restore won't get rid of it.
