ROMS For Xperia S, Suggestions. - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

KA11Xperia Speed Doesn't work on my device and neither does the kernel so don't suggest these
Also can you suggest some kernels that won't put my device into a boot loop

here's the thing seems you dont want ka11 why dont u use ka10.2 they say its more stable, and then install advanced ics stock kernel or xsx kernel,so u wont get bootloop,
theres also the stable version of cm9 its out now,
you should try different roms so that you can tell whats fits for you,
theres also mooded version and miui rom available, just go ahead and try it all, and choose which fits you best
goodluck.

Overclocking any rom

Hi guys, I am stil pretty new to android after my iphone 3gs broke and I decided to move away from apple. Ive got the hang of updating roms, currently im using
Firmaware: vanillaeclair 2.0.3.
Baseband: 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29
Kernel: 2.6.29-877eaf14 [email protected] #568
mod and build number are vanillaeclair 2.0.3.
Ive stuck with this rom becuz it is extremely stable on my phone with very few issues that I dont really care about or use.
The only thing I would want to do to this rom is overclock it to make it faster, at the most 710 mhz. But I dont know how or if you can...becuz wenever I change it in overclock widget it goes back to 528. So could sum1 pls explain how I can overclock it on this specific rom, becuz I really like this rom.
Thanks a lot
You have to use a kernel which supports overclocking. Behnaam has provided working 2.6.29 kernel sources for 2.1 ROMs which can overclock, and if nobody's created an update.zip for your ROM you can repackage one yourself; instructions should be in the kernel development thread.
Alternately, you could just update your ROM. The latest VE overclocks by default, as well as most recent ROMs.
Thanks
Thanks a lot...can u please lead me to the kernel threads since I am very confused, but I did try looking for it, im not the lazy ones, I learnt all I did through research, and friends.
this is the thread about benhaam's overclocked kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685489
Hi krandhawa!
For overclocking and much more speed, please upgrade to VanillaEclair 3.3 RC2. It is much more stable and much more faster.
Enjoy!
try this: http://hero-roms.blogspot.com/2010/05/attenchan-peepl.html
Hey Radug, I like 2.0.3 for me it has way fewer fc, and everything I need to have work, just works, but I just want a 710 or 695 kernel for this rom. I find that rom extremely good, I tried some of the new ones but theyre pretty buggy for me, just to let u know, u should put the Nexus live wallpaper in your newer roms, becuz theyre missing in these ones, n nexus mod doesnt work with them. I cant donate since I dun have a credit card but I always test your roms, if u ever need any testers im glad to help.
I tried 3.3 rc2 but I had a few bugs here n there that werent on 2.0.3. I found 2.0.3 the least buggy. But heck ill give 3.3 rc3 a try too.

[Q] [HELP] Which ROM should I use?

Hi All,
I purchased an X10 Mini Pro yesterday and I rooted last night.
I am now looking for the most stable ROM to put on my phone, I just don't know which one has had more development put into it.
Is it possible to use 'X10 Mini' ROMs on the X10 Mini Pro?
Appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction into which ROM I should put on my phone in terms of stability and functionality. Many thanks!
You can not use the rom from the mini for the mini pro...
the only advice is try them. backup your present rom first and then flash one of the few. try it for a couple of days and flash another.
you will find the rom that suits you most this way.
I'm using the Floyo rom and happy with it.
as all roms they are still under developement. things are not working random reboots may occur.
as said in other forums. there is no best rom. all roms are made to personal taste of the developer and that might you like more or less depending the rom. just try the roms available as said before. this is the only way.
read the threads about the roms they will give you all the info you will need.
@wilcovh
Okay thanks for getting back to me m8...
the most stabile and functional rom is the stock rom at this moment.
sorry guys, but you know it's like that. custom roms still need some bugfixes, but the progress is very promising.
hi,
you want a good and stable custom room?
well the best for now is the Foyo rom. it is almost bug free...(only 2 or 3 bug know bugs) and it have some themes options....
see the topic here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961783
Floyo v3.4 reboots often, but I couldn't find any other bugs. If you can (I can) tolerate these reboots, I think this is the best choice.
Temes
i cant boot to xrecovery after installed v3.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951274
and instal xRecovery.
But xRecovery should be working after installed v3.4
Maybe you did something wrong.
There's no random reboot on mine using CM6 3.4, try to reflash your phone and then install 3.4, I didn't see any bugs imho. Instead complaining about the bugs for each rom, try to help the dev by supporting they work and help them find a solution.
Try 3.4 for daily basis it's quite stable. CM7 V5 is still a little bit buggy in some vital section.

[Q] Stock 2.1 rom with dsp and Ultra Brightness

Is it possible to add dsp and Ultra Brightness to stock 2.1 rom?
Sorry but dsp cannot be added to the stock 2.1 rom, as for ultra brightness i dont know for sure but i think that its also not possible.
The stock sony ericsson rom is very limited and its not very nice once you've tried using friends who have the xperia mini pro(sk17i), gingerbread rom is much easier to use and more organized than eclair rom
Or maybe if you are willing than you can try out custom roms such as GingerDX, Flame.GDX ICS, FroyoBread, MiniCM7Pro, Sony Style, etc.
If you wanna get more crazy than you can check out MiniCM7, PrimeHD, FireDroid 2.1, etc
P.S.-If you dont know about rooting, flashing roms, bootloader, custom kernel etc than you better get started on studying it and sorry i cnt find a proper link to the guide for all this and i gotta go somewhere so i'm in a bit of a hurry
I have MiniCM7-2.2.0 because i need these two things but i prefer to have original rom with timescape with every launcher i want, better camera, better battery FOR ME etc.
unfortunately if it is not possible i will stay with a custom rom

[Q] Xperia Ray-Flashing kernal

Hi friends,
I am pretty new to this forum and before a couple of days i did a research regarding Flashing Kernals and Roms(Dont knw whether my concepts regarding that is right or wrong) and currently i have installed Cyanogen 9.1 for my device. Now let me ask a couple of questions i have for you guys.
1.Will I be able to update my phone and bring back to old ICS firmware via SUS once i brick my phone(I have already unlocked the bootloader via fastboot method)?
2.Evrytime when i flash the Rom(say CM9) i used to flash kernal(boot.img) for the respective rom.Is this necessary all the time?
Will i able to flash a GB rom on ICS kernal(I am afraid to give it a test)?
3.Regarding CM9.1 which i have installed ryt now,I am satisfied with the performance, but i want a stable ROM wud make me happy with a better battery life unlike CM9.1.So could you pls suggest me a GB/ICS ROM which wud have a stable performance with descent battery life.
4.After using GB for a long time,i was very much addicted with the Phone pad kinda keyboard, but when ICS came into picture everything vanished,Smartkeyboard Pro is no gud,Touchpal is conjusted,i want the exact GB keyboard in ICS.Any ideas?!!
Regards
Hazil A.M.
Phone: Xperia Ray
Bootloacker:Unlocked
ROM: GB Stock Rom
1. U need to relock ur bootloader to update ur phone through SUS
2.no need of of flashing kernel every time u flash...if its a stock based Rom u need a stock based kernel...
And u cant fhash ics on top GB kernel..
3.search around ray development forum and try some roms and choose which is best for u..
4.CM9 has a different type of keyboard..some stock based keyboard wont work...but Xperia s keyboard will work..
Sent from my SK17i using XDA Premium HD app

[Q] Hi i have CWM installed what should i do now?

Hey, i've flashed cwm on my tablet recently but i dont know what to do now. I have the android 2.3 installed and i want to install ICS, my device is not/was not supported by the recovery, can i install any ICS on the forum? Do i need a specific one? Should i make my own port?
Also, i was able to root the device (the gingerbreak reboot) and i have access to / and was able to install CWM but most apps say i dont have root, is there anything i can do?
First rule is u never ever, ever install anything not for your device. Doing so, probably a hardbrick is waiting along the corner.
So, even if i install CWM i wont be able to install any ROM? Cant i just pick a ROM for other device and port it?
yes u can port a rom from another device if the the original device got almost identical hardware to yours. but that is not an easy job.
or u could build rom from source if u capable of, more chance of fixing bugs than ported rom. cm source is freely available on github, cm9 to be precise if you're looking into getting ics rom. cm7 (gb) would be easier because u already got stock gingerbread rom.
