I'm hoping I don't get flamed here but I am having trouble getting Hulu+ to play on my SGH-I777. I contacted Hulu+ support and in their reply they said that they don't support rooted phones so here I am.
When I try to watch anything on the Hulu+ app I get an error message "streaming unavailable [WV44] [91]
I am on stock 4.0.3 which I flashed to using Kies. From there I flashed what I believe is the latest Siyah kernel, 3.5.1. Other than that my phone is stock. I have tried rebooting the phone, deleting cache for the app, force stopping-clearing data and clearing cache, uninstalling the app-rebooting the phone and re-installing the app.
I then tried booting the phone into CWM recovery and wiping the cache, dalvik, and extweaks.
I have a feeling the stuff I did in CWM wouldn't have made a difference but I thought I should try.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I would even be willing to flash the stock kernel to bring my phone back to factory stock if someone knows where I can find it. I've read that doing that can cause serious problems though so and insight on that would be greatly appreciated as well.
Thank you in advance.

Just contact them again and say the problem persists and I got a new phone.
There is a hacked version of the app in the apps and games forum somewhere that fixes this. Post back if you can't find it and I'll pm you a dropbox link. Won't be able to get it uploaded till tomorrow sometime tho.

That's the one I'm using. Just got it two days ago so link should be fine. And I can verify it does work on our device.
Thanks for finding that for me but it doesn't work for me. It just keeps buffering forever. I don't know if I mentioned this already but I'm running stock ICS 4.0.3. It seems like most people in that thread are running 2.3 GB.
I went back to the Play store to look at the reviews and it seems the problem I'm having with the app is the same problem everyone with a GS2 is having.

On that note I should also mention I've only tried it on cm10 (4.1.1). I don't see why it would run on jb and not ics though. So if anything it must be an issue with Sammy firmware. I've also only used it over wifi.
EDIT: There are 3 options to download in the OP of that thread. The one that worked for me was the middle one.
Thanks for putting up the link CallMeAria. I was using it on Tasks AOKP, and my wife uses it on shostock2. Haven't tried it yet on JB...

Uh yeah the notification has been checked, its still checked, data/cache has been cleared several times, still no notifications (sorry not an inexperienced underage noob over here). Just had 3 more updates too about 10 minutes ago.
Can anyone think of anything of actual use to try? Are you guys that still get them running stock or third party roms? Mines Samsung's stock 2.3.4 with the stock kernel. Its rooted but other then that no mods whatsoever...

Sorry - simplest answer is often it. So, rooted, unrooted? Stock ROM or other? Have you tried uninstalling Play and installing from APK posted somewhere here? Are these paid or free apps? And (since it's been biting me lately) were they installed from Market originally or from Amazon, getjar, or something else? Oh, and wifi or 3g (i.e. both on, just wifi, just 3g).
One more stupid one, but considering Google, have you tried just waiting 24hrs plus and see if maybe you're just beating it to the punch? You could try loading AppBrain, which runs around 24 hours behind for "seeing" updates, and if it shows up there before Play shows it, then there's definitely something off.
Let me know and I'll dig some more...
Most of the info you just asked for was already posted and you even quoted in my reply above. And its any app, paid or free, wifi or not, ever since Play came out. There's no magic to it. I'm simply not getting any notifications when there's updates even though its on.

Since, i have upgraded my galaxy S2 firmware to ICS. There have been a number of issues. I have read around about issues related to wifi and battery drain. But i am experiencing a bit more than just these ones. Whenever i access my contact list and try to make a call, the phone hangs...or rather loads for a long time till the phone call is placed. Also, when i try to type a message the keyboard doesn't show up at times. Does anyone know any fix for these problems??? I have tried hard reset and clearing the cache option already. But it didn't help . I would really really appreciate if someone could give me a solution.
Thanks guys.

Sorry, I have no solution for the problem. I got the same Problems with my I9100G since I've updatet to ICS 4.0.4
The keyboard hangs very often and sometimes the complete Phone hangs for 10 seconds and more. The only workaround I've found is a little app called "Fast reboot pro". It kills all running apps with one click (I think there are some similar task killing apps in the market) and it helps. But that's not a real solution, I know.

I'm assuming you upgraded to ICS from GB. I faced the same issue when I did my upgrade. Was very waiting so long for the official ICS upgrade.
I read some place that when you are moving from one version to another, like GB to ICS, its advisable to do a factory reset, wipe data, cache and Dalvik memory. So I rooted, did the above and flashed in a custom ICS ROM and its been smooth since.

Hello ares06, it seems to be the reason for that issues. I've updated my phone directly from GB 2.3.6
There were some threads in other areas and they said the same things as you. I've ignored that and it seems that I'll have now much additional effort. Man I hate it to do all the installations of OS and all apps. Would be better to spent effort next time with reading of how to's before I start any updates.

I'm sure you must've read about rooting. My suggestion is that you root, install this app called Titanium (it backs up all your apps in a few minutes), factory reset your phone and wipe all data and flash in a custom ROM. After installation just do a restore of all your apps from Titanium. You'll have all your apps back in a jiffy. The whole process should take you max an hour. Totally worth it if you ask me

Hi Ares05. Thats cool. But which custom rom do u suggest?
since we're talking about problems, my SGSII (SHW-M250K, olleh KT) decided that after the update to ICS 4.0.3, it would stop reading my SIM card. I'm going to try going back to Gingerbread to make sure that the USIM isn't completely screwed because its also an NFC USIM authenticator. The SHW-M250x series is probably one of the most unique of the SGS2 family, because they are only sold in Korea, Hong Kong (and Malaysia i think). And i have lost sleep so let me put this in here right now for anyone that has an SHW-M250x series:
THERE IS NO ROM SUPPORT/ROOT KERNEL SUPPORT FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY S II ORIGINATING FROM SOUTHEAST ASIA - BEST BET IS TO FIND A GT-I9100 OR WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO GET OFF THEIR KEISTER TO BUILD ONE FOR THE M250x SERIES.
I will post later with details if the USIM is busted due to the update.
Samsung Galaxy S II (SHW-M250K, KT olleh)
Android Stock (ICS 4.0.3)
I'm in Indonesia (which is in SouthEast Asia) and my S II is rooted.
People sell GT-I9100 here anyway. But not in East Asia.

So I rooted this phone a few months ago and it originally had Eclair 2.1. I did some research on here and found a guide to root and first installed CM7 and then ICS Passion. Last night I had some issue with my Firefox browser. And I had to reboot it. Then it just shut down down on me and got stuck in a boot loop. I did a quick back up and tried to reboot it from recovery and it's still stuck in the loop. I then did a system restore from that back up, nothing. I did notice that it won't mount the /emmc or /data says it can't mount /emmc. When I try to go to restore anything from the internal SD card it Says there is some kind of error. Now when I try to boot it, it just shows "android" logo and is stuck in a boot loop there. Yeah I'm pretty new at this but I don't know what else I can do. Please help. Thanks in advance
Update: so I was able to revert back to factory settings and still kept ICS on it. The only major thing that I had changed before this incident was I downloaded Beats Audio Driver Root from the Google play store. I should've backed up, I know, bad NooB.
But can anyone tell me about the /emmc and /data folders or whatever not wanting to mount or read? Is that because of the driver?

I've got to tell you that you dodged a huge bullet here. What was about to happen to you is the dreaded Encryption Unsuccessful bug that has been plaguing the Vibrant, Captivate and a slew of other devices. It is totally fixable. There is a workaround using your External SD but as for a cure, there is none. Some people have miraculously come out of it, but no one knows why and it is not reproducible.
Here is my guide for installing ICS from Éclair. Read the whole thread from start to finish. It is only 19 pages and there is a crap-ton of information in there. From Bootloaders, to ROMs, to the EU bug.
You can also go into my Repo thread or N00B_IN_N33D's Bible for any files that you may need.
I see you are in Cincinnati. If you ever need some hands on help, shoot me a PM and I might be around to help. When I first got into Android, I had a Motorola and joined XDA. Had a few guys hand-hold me threw some things but there were about 4 guys that were local in the boards. So that was a bit reassuring.
Skinzy98 - I took your advice on upgrading to JellyBean and it's pretty groovey. I appreciate the advice on that. Of course I did some dumb stuff first: I got all the files on my external SD card and forgot to put them on my internal SD card and then proceeded to do my wipe for factory reset, cache, and the delvik cache. Genius I know right?
Luckily I did a backup first but I got stuck in the boot loop. And as luck would have I still had the zip files from I originally rooted this phone from eclair to cm to ICS. So I tried the ICS zip... Boot loop again... Then I tried the cm9 zip and by George I got somewhere with it lol. And am now sending this with jellybean 4.2.1. I believe I am now an expert on how not to do this lol.
I did experience some initial difficulty with installing jellybean tho. The first time there was some error. The second time it got stuck on the a sung Vibrant load screen. And third time's a charm and bit worked out wonderfully.

I haven't needed to use the GPS. Come to think of it, it didn't come with the AngryGPS app that I had on ICS Passion. I had no problems with gps with that app. The only time I have used the GPS since upgrading to JB is while I was using the GasBuddy app which uses my GPS location to find nearby gas stations and show me the pricing. What can I say? I'm a penny pincher. It seemed to follow me alright, but I can neither confirm nor deny without using an actual GPS app. Anyone know where I can get and how upload a copy of AngryGPS? I'm all ears.
Update:
Nevermind I found one a really good one. It's dead on where I'm at. Only took a couple of seconds to locate me. I am currently having no issues. I can test it out tomorrow on my way to work and so forth.
The GPS worked great the whole time. The only issue j experienced was trying to wake it up. It just wouldn't pull up my lock screen when it the power button. Not sure if that's an issue j can fix or not.

I have been searching for what feels like for ever and I cannot seem to find the answer. 1)does anyone have a copy of the stock smemo and snote apk 's I am pulling my afro out by the roots and that's not cool. 2edly which ties into the first query, how come when you flash several modems after awhile none of them seem to work. Example I would flash let's say 5 different modems to see which one has the best speed. By time I get to the 5th one my device no longer will display a signal and at that point it will not recognize my sim card so I have to reflash the ROM and start again due to a bad memory. Lucky I accidently flashed what I thought was a stock ROM but was not and it had a really good modem. The problem is that the spen apps are not present, now here's the fun part when I try to download them from the play store it says that is not compatible with my device so if someone has those apk's or can point me to a link that is not dead I would appreciate it thank you......

The playstore is right. Smemo and other S apps aren't compatible with JB roms. I'm no expert, but I believe it has something to do with touchwiz. Those apps require it and there isn't a JB touchwiz rom available yet. I have the Smemo apk and a titanium backup of it as well. I'll upload it later today when I get off work for ya. But unless your an awesome app dev it's not going to work. Believe me I've tried.
As for your modem question... that's odd. I've done the same thing you have but didn't run into any problems doing so. I always wipe dalvik/cache too. Maybe that's your issue. Another suggestion is try rebooting when you can't see any signal. Sometimes when I reboot without flashing anything my signal is non-existent. I reboot and it comes back.
Thank you for the reply, but blue I am going to throw a monkey wrench in the works. The ROM's that I am running are ICS because I need WiFi calling and neither att or Tmobile have a jb version running yet.... Btw thanks for reminding me to wipe the cache's I didn't think that would apply to modems just to ROM's

Since your already running ics, try finding an ics rom that's based on touchwiz if installing this apk doesn't work. Just because it's an ics rom it doesn't mean it's based on touchwiz.
I'm having difficulty finding Snotes in my backups for some reason. I'll update this when I find it.
Thank you very much
