I just got my brand new SGS3 and while surfing the internet, I realized that when using google search, the recent/popular search suggestions below do not work.I can click them, but once clicked nothing happens. It's suppose to redirect me to the new search. Has anyone experienced the same thing when using google search on the SGS3?
This only occurs when I search directly form google.com. Bing and yahoo searches work fine however. The suggestions below their respective search boxes can be clicked and it redirects fine.
Probably the stock browser is at fault? It's annoying to have to type the entire search since the suggestions cannot be clicked... anyone think of why it's only google.com that has this problem?
Mine does the same but there's an arrow on the right side you can click and it fills in the search bar...still very annoying cause I always end up hitting the phrase first instead of the arrow.

That's very strange. I've never had that problem and I've used 3 different browsers including stock. If you really want to use the stock browser and you're rooted try flashing GApps on it which may fix it, or just try a different browser like Chrome.

Hey when ever i say something to S-voice and I ask it to search the web. I get taken to "google Custom search" and for some reason I cant change it . Its not like it on the normal web browser only with s-voice. any help please thanks. And the google "custom search" comes up with some pretty crappy results no matter what I type.

Hi-Thanks for your reply. I have tried what you suggested and it did not work.I have tried a device reset but that didn't work either. Any more suggestions? I think I might know how it happened I accidentally Clicked an Ad for something called battery optimiser on the browser of my device it downloaded it but I did not install it..could this be the problem?? Thanks for any suggestions. I have also run many anti-virus apps but all have said my device is clear.
Hm, open your browser settings and see what it says under default search engine.

Hi yes its Google.com for my browser but it seems to change with s-voice for some reason.
Is there a fix for this?
Did anyone ever find a fix for this? Whenever S Voice has to do a web search, it takes me to a google.com/cse?cx=partner-pub-53243887287072696qccq-17aj&q=suspects#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=suspects&gsc.page=1
The search in this case was for "suspects".
I've recently rooted, but I'm still running the stock ROM (my phone is just rooted)
I've tried clearing the S Voice data and every other search runs fine (Google Voice search, for example). While the S Voice search is not a serious problem, I fear that this may be a symptom of something much deeper. For example, today my clock was several hours off. When it was about 2:30pm , my clock said 1:30am. Don't know if they are related. Just thought I'd throw that in.
All virus scans (Lookout, Avast, AirPush Detector, ect) came up clear.

Well, nevermind. It majically seemed to have fixed itself in that past 5 minutes.
You guys work FAST!
I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem but I've had it on all 3 of my Android phones and it is annoying to the point of rage.
Whenever you search for an app in the Android Market, click on one and realize its not the one you wanted, you click back but then the scroll position gets reset and you're at the top of the search results. This is even more particularly annoying whenever you look through your previously installed apps on the Android Market and try to re-install some. Its not fun having to scroll 5 pages each time.
Has anyone found a workaround for this? I would be willing to pay for a fix or patch.

Hey,
I have a weird problem.... Sometimes (like 2-3 times since i bought my phone in june) i search for something and then a pornpage shows up instead of the searchresults. I use chrome. Believe it or not, but i have never searched for porn or watched porn on my phone....
Anyone who can help me troubleshoot this?
PS! Please, if you cant control yourself and have to answer something stupid, then try to ignore this post.
Thanks
Could looks like network spoofing, do you trust your network provider ? I mean, are you connected to a free hotspot ?

It will be linked for the search results that you have used on your pc whilst logged into your gmail account
The tabs are linked between your chrome browser on the PC and the Chrome browser on your phone whilst logged in with your gmail account

So how can i get rid of that?
You'll never hear me complain about that!
Does an actual website show up? And if so, same one every time? Or are the search results returning porn sites?
Assuming it's an actual site. So you type in the search bar, hit "search" and the site just pops up?
Are you absolutely sure you are on Google when searching? Maybe it's a spoofed web address made to look like it that you somehow bookmarked... Or are you searching in the chrome address bar?

Yes but in his case it's a page which show up (I guess), not a search suggestion ...
I had that problem also on my S2. I was a free app that was doing that.

Yes and actual porn page shows up. Dont remeber what page, but always the same. I type in the search field in chrome (not at google.no page) and the page comes automatically up. The searchresults for the actual word is ignored.

Doesnt have to be a suspect app could just be one that has an agreement with an ad company to make more money from the app
I had some free moving wallpapers installed for my children.
But there actually is a lot of "extras" installed and not always cleanly removed when removing the app.
I ended up wiping the phone and start fresh.
OK thanks guys for quick responses Most probably an app that's causing it. Weird that they can overrule chrome's searchresults...

Nop, you are getting search suggestion on what have you searched. That's why I have the web search history turned off: https://history.google.com/history/?hl=en&ctz=-120
you can also out-out here: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/ or remove the porn websites from your "interest" list
are you logged in to your google account on your PC or laptop? and is someone else using it? If so maybe chrome synced search results from pc to your phone

In my case i got the result page before "hitting enter" So it was really annoying, but it did not happen all the time.
Could be your search provider??
Is there an option to change search provider in chrome?

Search history i turned off years ago No way google is tracking me! I have also opted out.
Surprised nobody has posted anything on this but here's my issue, every time I try to log on to the desktop version (yes I have the setting checked for this) it throws in the "m" for mobile.....I have tried other browsers after the stock one was doing this, they all seem to do it so I'm assuming it's the phone itself. Can anyone else test this.
I use the ics browser+ when I want to view facebook or any other site in desk top works great

When I come to this forum, I sometimes need to go back to a topic/thread that I started to reference information but I cannot find a way to do this. If I click on the member icon in the upper right hand corner of the page, all I get is a login popup and no access to my account. What am I missing here? Thanks.

If you enter your info in the login popup, what happens? It just repeatedly asks you to log in?
You tried different browsers?

Yes, it does repeatedly ask me to sign in. I am using the same Opera browser that I have always used. And now, I am not getting any email notices of replies to my threads either. Thanks for the reply.

My best guess is something privacy related -- VPN, browser setting -- is blocking this. One browser I use (Brave) won't let me search in XDA threads, while another (Chrome) does.
Just try another browser (like Chrome) temporarily as an experiment. If it works then check your Opera settings.

Thanks for the suggestion to try another browser. Chrome worked just fine so I looked at the settings in my Opera browser and for some reason, this forum was not on the exceptions list any longer. So I added this URL and all is back as it should be again. Thanks for your help. Now if I could get an answer to my problem with making slo-mo videos.

Thanks for the suggestion but it was a problem with my Opera browser that I now have fixed. The browser had somehow deleted this forum URL from it's safe list. Once I added the URL back into the list, all is fine. I don't usually use my phone for web related things unless I have to. I don't even check my email on my phone unless I am away from home for a long while.
