[Mod]Galaxy S Player 3.6 - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Hello,
I h2o64 and I'm new to xda.
Today I am here to talk about the Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6.
I recement ask to install CyanogenMod BUT it is not compatible with the device (probably because it's an mp3), after a long search I found that the Samsung i9000 (very similar to the Galaxy S Player 3.6) is compatible with CyanogenMod him.
So I said: Would it be possible by changing a few lines of code to create a CyanogenMod for Galaxy S Player 3.6?
Can you tell me if this has already been accomplished opera? See even if we could accomplish it?
Then I'm French and we do not really excel in computing and the owners of the 3.6 Player deep desire to go further than TouchWiz. I know sites that share the results of this post and I would to do a joix
I hope we do good work.
thank you

I think the quickest way to go about it would be for you to learn how to do it and do it yourself Seriously, we can't even root the sucker, forget about importing CM over from another device! It would take us forever. SG 3.6 community is small and we don't have any advanced developers in it.

Hello,
I know how to build CM AND AOKP from source
And I know how to build CWM Recovery!
And I know how to root this device from recovery but I first need to build proper CWM Recovery
But this device is difficult to develop with

I have the us version (capacitive home) of this player with the rooted stock rom. Is there anything that I can do to help with development?

From what I have seen Jelly Bean based AOKP and CM10 have not yet been released for the galaxy player 5.0 yet but check out this great guide to rooting your device and what ROM's you can put on (Only up to ICS 4.04 as of this writing) it. For more information on CM10 look here and for more information on AOKP look here. These should give you an idea what there like.

Huh... you want a rom built by samsung but that has absolutly nothing samsung made in it? Not sure how's that even possible
There's only 2 ways to go, from what i understand:
- for absolutly nothing related with samsung your best bet is any rom compiled (and modded) from google sources like CM10, aokp, slimbean, etc
or
- any samsung based rom with those aroma setups that allow for the removal of just about anything before installing. In this sense you'll be good with just about any rom you pick since all seem to have it But you'll still have samsung stuff in it since they built it, not sure if there's how to go round that

New OS for GALAXY PLAYER 4.2

Hello everybody,
I am looking for new android version for my Galaxy Player S 4.2. And I can't find it !
The best is to find an Android 4.x.x version.
I know to use ODIN.
Thank youvery much for your help.
And there simply isn't one (that I know of). You're stuck with CM7.

Dude. Would you mind being a bit more specific? You cant just "find" an "Android 4.x.x" and "know to use Odin". Is it that you're trying to flash Android 4.x? Are you looking for a new ROM for 4.x? Help us help you

You're right Dude, sorry !
In fact, my daughter have a rooted Galaxy Player 4.2 with Android 2.3.6.
My aim is to upgrade it in a 4.x.x version.
I hope it's more clear for you now and you could help me.
Many thanks.
Its rooted? Have you used Odin to flash a kernel onto her Player?

To make a long story short, there are no 4.x ROM ports for the Galaxy player 4.2. If you're interested in a custom stock one, or CM7, here are the links...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582138 -> CM7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711198 -> HoloFrenzy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2279806 -> ChaOS.
These are the only ROMs for the 4.2 that is not a stock rooted ROM, and still has working links.
I know it must be frustrating for owners of this device to find out that it does not have any new version of Android (I too have one), and is stuck with GB, but lately there have been a number of threads with the same question, so I suggest anyone reading this and about to post the same question again to think twice.

Ok, thank you for your help. :good:

Need some questions answered. Any help will be appreciated.

I am planning on porting cm10 for my device, the galaxy player 4.2 (YP-GI1) there aren't alot of people with the device and I'm gonna start to do undertake the project. The galaxy player 3.6 has a rom and recovery made already and the two devices are the basically same (in specs just mine has a bigger screen). My questions are general:
1) Can i port a recovery or do i have to build one from scratch?
2) Are the cm7.2 repos for my device on github be of any use?
3) My recovery is in-built with my kernel, basically i have to flash a new kernel to get a new recovery, Can i port the kernel? and if so
how do i go about doing so?
4) Is this project do-able on windows or do i need ubuntu? and will a virtual machine do the job?
5) Can i flash jelly bean (4.1.2) with my current clockworkmod 5.0.2.x recovery?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. :good:
